I dont take that. My grandpa was ww2 veteran. He told that officer is first on attack and last who left position and cover his unit safe retreat. There is no need of yelling. Personal bravery and medals for that tell other soldiers that they will be ok on battlefield and officer know what he is teaching. Officers also did put them medals on when there was major battle coming. 1941-43 their battalion took 90% WIA rate for men and Officer 50% Kia rate. Also officers eat last what is left.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I used to work as a chef for 10 years, and it completely desensitized me to screaming and shouting. It really helped when I worked security, and it’s a very useful (but extremely hard to learn) skill to have
After 40 years, I still remember my Training Instructor (TIs) names ... incredible mentors. I understood their roles and that me to get the most from my TIs. MK, Ret. Col.
Hi, I recently graduated BMT! The yelling was on-and-off throughout the weeks of training. One of our MTIs stopped because she straight up lost her voice at the beginning, and they gradually stopped yelling as our skills improved and idiotry decreased. Pretty much if you did what you were supposed to do, you werent yelled at as an individual.
hmm that sounds like brain washing threw yelling. technically there no need to yell they punish you with things like drop and give me fifty latrine duty ECT. yelling is just to brain wash you. its proven effective. humans are instinctively alert to loud noises like all living things.
If you were my drill sergeant, I would be super scared cause they say the quiet ones be the worst. You dnt give tht tough drill sergeant vibe thts why.
Love the shirt! Love your videos. I’m waiting to ship out to air force bootcamp at the end of May. Your videos give me great motivation for a positive experience. Thank you Jody 👊🏼
I was drafted into the army back in January 1969. I don't think I ever heard a drill sergeant talk in a normal voice. They yelled at us from the time we got out of bed until the time we crawled back into bed. If you fell asleep during a lecture you would wake up to getting a slap on the back of your head and screaming into your ear.
My drill Sgt at BMT yelled in my ear for 15-20 straight seconds because I jumped when he yelled at another trainee behind me in the lunch line. I haven’t had complete silence in that ear since. My doctor told me I have tinnitus on that ear. Thanks I guess. Guess I get 10% disability once I leave the service
@Jodywithawhy, I would like to thank you for all the helps that you have provided me throughout your videos. Last week I pass successfully PICAT test and yesterday I passed the verification test. Now I'm waiting MEPS date for a physical exam. You has being my inspiration and my information source. One last thing, I got 4 years of college but I need to get those transcripts. Could you please post a link for some suggestions? Thanks!!!
Congrats on passing the ASVAB. I’m glad I could help you through the process so far. I don’t what your mean by share link for some suggestions. Suggestions about how to get your transcripts or about which jobs you can do?
I can't remember one of my T.I.'s names but as a 40+ year old man, if they threatened me today like they did back then, they wouldn't threaten anyone anymore. I'm still angry. I was a good kid, but sure learned I was not on the good guys team fast
Love your content, I’ll be heading to training in august and your videos have helped me a lot in the process. Only thing I’m really nervous about is the peanut butter shot due to my fear of needles lmao
I recommend just turning away and not looking. That’s my biggest tip to people with needle fears. If you watch, that’ll just make it worse. I hope that helps. 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I wanna hear the story of how do you manage to bake a cake while on an AC-130 being winchestered (is that a word?) twice I’m curious now unless it’s classified than it’s all good
I’m still trying to figure it out myself. 😂 She would bake all the time too. The AC130U has like a small oven in it, mostly used for warming up canned food or frozen meals. But she would somehow manage to use it for baking cakes. Every time she would come back from a big mission, she’d come out the plane and say “I made cake boys”. 😂😂 I wish I were lying to you.
See… Marines still yell like that to other Marines… just because he/she is a lance corporal holding the billet of a Corporal and needs to remind that boot camp P.F.C. that he/she is NOT AT ALL CLOSE to their rank and authority. Don’t hate the truth. And yes, I agree, that’s a very toxic work environment.
Sadly , the yelling, similar to the shark attack, is a thing of the past. It confused me at first, but then I figured out it was all part of the process. Good times.
Hi, Jody! I’m such a fan of yours, i’m aspiring to enlist in the air force, but I am scared that I will get permanently rejected for a simple surgical procedure that I had long time ago. Will I get rejected? Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Hey Maria, I honestly couldn’t tell you. I can say it would all depend on the medical records and what they say. They’d have to prove whatever surgery occurred, you have recovered 100% since the procedure, with no additional issues. If your records show this, most likely you’ll have a good shot of getting approved. I hope that helps, and gives you the motivation needed to try this process. Good luck. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

What do you think about the space force? Don't know if you could share your contact with me, would like to discuss some of my recruiting process with you, if you absolutely don't mind 😊
The pilot literally baked a cake while in the air. There’s no secret military language here, just the weirdness of a cake being baked after blowing stuff up. Lol
If you value your life, dont ever call a marine corps drill instructor a drill sergeant! There is a tremendous difference between an army drill sergeant and a marine corps drill instructor; and most of the clips shown here were of marine corps drill instructors. Calling a DI a drill sergeant are like fighting words
I totally disagree. You do not need to yell at people to get them to do what you want them to do. You can be firm without yelling. This needs to be changed.
just know if u have the same name of someone from the cycle before youre ass is grass lol . my DS was all over my ass but it was funny. loved my time at BCT

I was told by a veteran that they yell because if you can’t handle a little yelling then there’s no way you can handle war
He’s not lying.
Training and being in the army is one thing, I would take yelling. I won’t tolerate it where it isn’t called for.
War?? Hell, you couldn't even handle a night out

Got used to yelling after like day 3. By the end of week 1 no one even looked up when someone was be ripped apart.

@@ZadeMeadowsLittleMouse it's a penicillin shot that everyone gets in BMT, big ass needle filled with a thick ass medicine

Love your vids Jody! Think you can do a video on the LEAD program or the path from enlisted to a cadet in the Air Force Academy?
I can try. I’d have to do some deep research first.

How do they yell so much without losing their voice?
I yell for two minutes and lose mine. Lol
Yelling or insulting?
I think they love losing their voice
Hey Jody, if I got a LASIK before enlisting, is that a disqualifier?
Not necessarily. It would just depend on the records and what they say. Plenty of people have gotten in with LASIK procedures.
No, I got in with lasik. There is a waiver
