This is such a superb insight into the Basque culture. Martins you've shown such respect and love for it and it shows. Wow! What a beautiful place and the fact that the entire area breaths original strongman makes it even more amazing. Love this series! Keep up the good work.
Getting to meet so many incredibly unique types of strength athletes from throughout the world is incredible to watch. Love the series and great video again Martins / Romark!
Holy cow, should I comment on how beautiful Basque country is? How interesting and lively their history is? Their sports history? How well this documentary was made? Choices, choices...
Maybe not in Martins’ wheelhouse, but the Basques also crank out endurance athletes like nobody’s business. (5 time TdF champion Indurain, among a multitude of pro cyclists, distance runners and alpinists). A lot of these events, especially this woodchopping modality has a hella endurance component as well. I think this series gives us a window into the culture that produces so many great athletes in a multitude of sports.
@@MartinsLicis I think so too, but it’s deeper than that. My father is from Galicia, which is on the western end of Spain. The hills, their connection to the land, but also - the Basque way is also hyper disciplined, organized and industrious as hell with an emphasis on doing things well - work hard, play hard, eat well. You apply that to sports, it’s gonna produce some ringers. 😉 They are famous for it amongst their fellow Spaniards, because in many respects they lived amongst yet apart from the rest of Spain - basically because the Basque existed in that region before the Romans who laid the foundation for what Spain became, arrived - like their own little planet nestled in the northern frontier between Spain and France. Its really cool you got to see that live. It’s a very special place. I do hope your hosts took you to see Athletic Bilbao play at San Mames. Mind blowing soccer experience. 👍
The production quality is ridiculous. Romark is just as world class in his field of expertise as Martins is in his. Fantastic piece of content, thank you.

Like many others have said, the production quality on these videos is incredible. But it's also fantastic that you constantly go out of your way to shed light on some of the most under-appreciated sports and athletes. These stone lifters are some of the strongest athletes in the world and i would never have even heard of them without a video like this one 👏👏👏
Dude not only are you the worlds strongest man, you have an amazing narration voice! WOW. This video was stunning and the passion these people have for the sport is so infectious and fun to watch.
This series is sooooo good. Honestly deserves an award. This is on another level of good. I could show this to a none strongman fan and they would love it i bet.
We have similar sports in the US. One event they have to cut notches for spring boards and one at the top, chop a block like topping out a tree. Another is a speed climbing race up to the top of a tree and back down using a safety rope and spikes. They also do the chop through a block like what you did. Then they also have both manual 2 man saw, and one I think, as well as some chainsaw events that includes custom, over powered chainsaws
