This is the HP 840 Elitebook G9 with Intel 12th gen and DDR5 ram
We upgrade the ram and drive from stock. It’s a very well made flagship business computer from Hewlett-Packard.

so I investigated the topic. Turns out, that slot is not an ssd slot, but is populated in some configurations with wwan module. Which means, it can only support PCI-E interface and not SATA, only modules with M.2/B-M-Key will fit and not the usual M-Key drives and the max lenght of the module can be only 60mm. Taking all three constraints in the account, there is no mass produced ssd drive you can put in here and apparently the only option out there are used drives from old Lenovo laptops, which cost and arm and a leg and carry 120Gb at most.
So, no, it is not a space for another ssd (unless they'll make a shorter version of Intel Optane).

Put the ram cover in a wrong way. And tape was on the other side.
