Darryl, For me this has been your best video yet, for two reasons. I too am currently building an A-frame. I am building it for a friend. It is a kit house. I see many of the same challenges and it is not any easier with the kit, less cutting and figuring for sure, and, still the same. First, it really touched my heart to see the neighborly love, and the prayer. Second, funny how I saw the plywood lift just yesterday in a very old RUclips vid. w/no direction or plans. I struggled to pause, zoom-in, and replay, I think six or seven times... I open this one this morning and BAM! There it is. Thank you man. Thank you so much for documenting your journey. I also left a corporate job and am having so much fun on this build. I hope you are as well. Love ya man, and be safe😊❤.
Brac! Thank you so much for the kind words, brother! I appreciate your support! I really do have some great neighbors. They take good care of me. That’s really surprising to hear. I always thought using a kit would be way easier. Congrats on getting the job too! Super glad that you’re making it happen! 🙏👍
Pretty slick. Did a Dutch canal style warehouse cargo lift. Block and tackle to lift large items mounted on the outside frame. That way it was only a lift it straight up, secure it to a cleat, go up and start pulling off the sheets. After the first row was done, then pull up even more sheets and just put them on the first row.
Man I was thinking of a ramp to push up the wood, but your contraption made my back happy 😂 we do a lot by ourselves too so it’s cool seeing other people do it too we’re tuned back in keep going
When that winch popped up after I said "you cant make it, you cant make it" I laughed so hard😂 God bless you man, and your neighbours aswell. Great videos
Wow pretty crazy I just stumbled upon your channel. I’m building a 1200 sq foot a frame in central texas. I started in November last year about to start raising the “A”s. Cheers to A frames
Great videos. I've actually been planning to build an A-Frame mostly by myself as well. The sled/wench was a good idea for the plywood, assuming you already had that stuff handy. If not, a simple pully would have done the trick.
John! Thanks for watching my videos. I really appreciate that. I did already have a winch. So, I figured I’d put it to use and save my back. Haha. Good luck on your project! 🙏👍
Hello, great man ! Great work you have done here . Can you tell me please what angles has the house, I can't figure it out if it is an echilateral triangle or ...?! Thank you!
Hello, fellow great man! Thank you for appreciating my work. The angles are 55 degrees on top and 35 degrees on the bottom. Thanks for watching the channel! More great stuff on the way! 🙏👍
Follow The Roots! First of all, thank you so much for watching all of my videos! That means a lot to me. I’m following the plans that I made. I wanted to create something unique. So, that’s why I didn’t buy plans from someone else. Good luck on your project! You can crush it. 🙏👍
Lookin' good! Just curious, how come you didn't build the stairs first, then just carry them up to save time vs the winch? Not enough clearance maybe? Lookin' pretty sweet tho man! Keep it up
Jed! That’s a great question! I suppose I didn’t love the idea of walking up the stairs with an 8 foot sheet of plywood because of the clearance on the stairs is only 6 foot 6 inches because of the angle and their placement.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted an 8ft, 9ft, or 10ft ceiling. So, I waited until the rafters were up. For me, a 10ft ceiling was the way to go. It’s more spacious on the first floor where most of our time will be spent. 🙏👍
Olá, sou um fã do Brasil, você pode disponibilizar as medidas desse chalé? Hello, I'm a fan of Brazil, can you provide the measurements of this chalet?
Tyler! The 2nd floor is fully supported by 10 foot walls now. You’ll see that in a future video. The joist are both nails and screwed into the rafters. The joists are being held by two 6 inch GRK Rugged Structure screws with a crazy high breaking capacity and 6 galvanized framing nails per side. She’s not moving anywhere, my broski. Remember the point was to get joist in place without having to maneuver around the first floor framing because the roof is around up. Sorry, if I didn’t explain that enough. 🙏👍
I'm also doing an A Frame build and am in the planning/design phase now. I've found a source for awesome windows and doors that are 1/4 - 1/3 the price of other windows out there. I just met up with them at the IBS show last week in Las Vegas. I'd be happy to pass their contact info on if you are interested. Hit me up.
Robert! Nice. That sounds like a pretty good deal on pricing. I have a plan for custom windows that you’ll see pretty soon. Good luck on your project! 🙏👍
Great work Daryll an self built A frame is in my bucket list!
You got this, Shane! Go out and make it happen!🙏👍
Its on my bucket list too. I just started a plumbing class

The subfloor lift is genius!

Trying to figure out how to do a loft in my barn and that led me here. Always love meeting another brother, God bless!

Thank you for showing so much love, man! I was not trying to get on a ladder with those plywood sheets. Haha! No thank you.😄
You’re so smart. You amaze me!!! You have learned so much. So proud of you ❤❤❤
Thank you, Mommy Precious! ❤️❤️❤️
i want this dude to build my A-Frame in Woodside, CA
Thanks, buddy! I’d be honored too🙏👍

Hahahahhaha!!! Thanks, Viking! Yeah, I had to upgrade just a little bit to the winch. 🙏👍
Having done many projects by self I have a huge appreciation for your ingenuity. Thanks!
Ron! I really appreciate that! I think you’ll like the next video too. I’m forced to get pretty creative. Lol 🙏👍
Your will and drive have resulted in some note worthy results. Keep it coming you are doing an amazing job for your first go.

"The Contraptionator 5000" haha, love it.

Great contraption , Darryl . And those stairs look impressive . Looking forward to the stairs video.
Thanks, Jerry! Thanks for always supporting me too! I’m working on the stairs video right now.🙏👍

Hey Eric! I’m so glad to hear the video helped you out. Good luck on your project! 🙏👍

Thanks, man! Much appreciated! 🙏👍
I just subscribed so I can enjoy this sweet journey. I’m loving the build! Great work!!
Tyoki! Thank you so much for your kind words, brother. 🙏👍
I was given some of those grk screws a few years ago. I’m hooked on them now!
Jeff! Same. I used to think there wasn’t much difference between screws but now I have to use them for every project now. 🙏👍
Very impressive! You have inspired me to start my build.
You got this, Nichole! Go for it. Be patient with yourself as challenges come up. Everyday you’ll grow and get better at the craft. 🙏👍

Good job.
Garyl! Thank you, sir!🙏👍
My dream is to build an a-frame hut like this. Could you tell me what wood was used in this construction?
Sergio! You can do it. I’ve only used pine. Some off it is pressure treated. 🙏👍
Thank you very much Darryl!, i can't wait to see this building ready😁🙏
Good job bro
Mineo! Appreciate it. 🙏👍
Awesome, amazing work wat size are your rafters ?
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers! 🙏👍

Gracias, mi amigo! 🙏👍
What is the size please 😮, it would help to know the measurements of the House.

It’s 30 wide and 40 long.

180-55-90=35

Looks like the walls are at a 55 degree angle. 55+35=90
Darryl what plans are you using for your AFrame? I’ve watched all your videos so far and hope to do something similar very soon! Thank you

I need help with this very same issue. I need to finish building out my loft. I'm having the hardest time getting someone to do it for me..
I hear you. It’s not easy. Building stairs really helped me make the whole thing easier. 🙏👍
how high is the ceiling and how wide is the main floor?
Howdy! So, the ceiling is about 23 feet up and the floor is 30 foot wide. 🙏👍

We are looking at building in a frame in Arkansas mountains do you have any idea what your total cost for this project will be doing it yourself
Hmm… materials only… you’re probably be between $60K-$80k. Good luck! 🙏👍
why didn't you nailed the loft 2x6 to the As before lift them?

Hi Andre! It’s 30 ft by 40 ft.🙏👍
Can you share this project with me?? !!
I’m not a fan of relying on screws to hold floor up. I’d add actual lumber to carry load on sides.
