As a longtime makeup artist I have always resisted going with the trends and really believe in sticking with the colors that work best with your individual coloring. I like how you tied that in with knowing your colors in terms of clothing.
Makeup as well as clothing has veered warmer toned in the past few years, which makes it harder for those of us with cooler tones to find the right makeup and clothes.
@@Kelly-pp1et Not really, if we're talking about things like foundation, you could argue that everything comes in shades of brown/peach, but even then there's cooler browns and pinks. Darker brown or sandy colors that are too warm will tend to look too orange or yellow on cool-toned skin. Anyways different colors work better with different skin tones. I've been following you for 4 years now and it's videos like these that have not only helped me with clothing and makeup, but also how I see colours now. 4 years ago I was confused about my skintone and frequently gravitated towards maroons and brown lip colours. Not that I hate them now. But I was a young student with a neutral medium skintone who thought I couldn't find an everyday nude lip colour for me. Cut to now when my go to lip shade is a purple tint mixed with a medium brown lipstick that creates this perfect mauvy brown lip colour for me. I have started to appreciate greys and yellows like never before. Your videos are such a blessing!
I got a consultation done w him as a result of your video and I LOVE that w his method, it's individual to each person vs trying to put them in one seasonal category that then has colors that look awful on them. All the colors I like (minus my beloved highlighter neon yellow-green) were in my palette along with textures (YAY sequins and velvet) and some colors I never considered like minty blue-green. He said that if he were to type me in the seasonal way, I'd be a winter (but not overly so) w a dash of autumn and spring, neither too cool nor too warm, neither too muted or too saturated. Makes total sense now since I'm a fair olive that leans slightly warm yellow. Always wondered why those blue-purples looked off on me and it's simply bc I look better in red-purples. It also cleared up why I'm drawn to warm caramel browns and the darkest of blacks when in seasonal typing, one would be a big no of I was only autumn or only winter. He was fantastic to work with and I consult my swatch book so much now. I'm so glad you introduced him to us!
