Dear Audrey, your channel has been so meaningful for me. I found your videos while my daughter was undergoing 126 hellish days in the NICU earlier this year. She almost died and then underwent 4 surgeries in 4 months and so many hard days... Your calming voice, positivity, and classy style have been such a great escape for me through all the stress. Not only that, but it's helped me dress in a way that helps me feel worthy of being seen as I jump through the million hoops of learning to be a special needs mom. I truly feel now that I don't HAVE to disappear behind my daughter's needs. It energizes me to put on a great outfit every day that I love! I have a RUclips channel too so I know how meaningful it is to hear feedback from your viewers. ❤

Thank you so much for watching! For the contrast bit, once you know if you’re low, medium or high contrast you can choose a low, medium or high contrast makeup look to match your own contrast. This will create an effortless and harmonious look :) You can also go higher or lower than your natural contrast level for a muted look or a dramatic look ❤️
The contrast part is vital. I'm cool undertones (very) and high contrast (= winter in color analysis) and low contrast cool toned makeup looks very uncomplimentary. My clothes are high contrast always and that's why a eyeshadow palette with white to charcoal grey eyeshadows and fuchsia lipstick looks much more compliantary.
You’re honestly so pretty and I love the way you talk . You talk like a melodious bird chirping that I almost forgot to pay attention to the content and had to rewatch ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Loved your point on contrast. I’ve always gravitated towards a dramatic lip. Burgundy/vampy lips were my signature in college and I always love a good red as well. Starting my professional career was when I started to look for more natural lip shades and even within that, I gravitated towards shades that gave me more contrast. I guess it just goes well with my overall look. Idk whether your content is what you invent, lots of research, or a mix of both but it’s always so high quality and intelligently communicated. You are such a gem on this platform and I appreciate the work you do!
I hear you: I was never happy with my lips, nothing major so I picked a shade that matched my tongue. Seriously. It worked. I can mess with it light/dark/shiny but my idea is if your lips are a feature to emphasize do it!!!!!!! Great post
Oils are best used as a finishing product on the hair rather than before you blow dry. What happens when you heat oil? It fries things! A few drops run through after you hair is dry is much better and Trader Joe's 100% Argan Oil is what I would recommend.
I still air dry my long hair ... I don't even own a dryer! But the ends are looking quite damaged, and a tiny, tiny bit of oil helps them look smooth. My hair is very oil sensitive. I will put a tiny drop in my palm, rub my palms together (they barely feel oily), and barely touch them to my hair - just the ends. It seems like it wouldn't be enough to do anything, but it's like magic. I don't put oil anywhere near my scalp - ends only.
A lot of this is stuff I had to learn on my own growing up and I just really appreciate you making a safe space for people to learn without the judgment of “it’s common sense” (when it’s not).
totally agree grooming is very important, good food, a healthy body, and a positive mind are very important, and always grateful for everything that God has given us, love your all your videos, success for you
I can’t believe I’ve been on RUclips for 3 years daily and haven’t found your channel till now! And your videos are 5-6 years old but still could apply easily today! Or any day! Great timeless tips!
My husband got me the RevAir Reverse-Air Hair Dryer and it made such a big difference on my hair. My hair is reaching my lower back and I can always have straight, sleek healthy hair and not to pay so much for wash and blow-dry at the hair salon
You tested the pH of each product without water. As soon as you mix the product with water, the pH will change. Some water is more acidic and some is more basic. You would need to test your water to know if you’re getting your desired pH balance.
Thank you so much for mentioning saturation levels with colors. I rarely hear it talked about but it has been a lifechanging revelation for me. My hair is a dark taupe (dull brown), and it took me years to figure out why certain colors (including black and white) didn't look right on me. Turns out the higher saturations were making my hair look grey, which would make my skin look washed out. Greys and muted tones look best on me. I can use saturated colors as accents or specific neutrals that don't "fight" with my hair color like camel brown or jeans with a darker wash.
What changed my hair for the better was to sleep with a silk scarf in which I put my braid at night. Drying my hair in an old tshirt rather than a towel (for 15-20mins or so) really really changed how frizzy it gets.
The smoke point bit was very shocking! And surprising! I hadn’t thought about it at all, thank you for sharing that. Also, I’m glad you’re talking about safely blow drying hair, I have curly low porosity hair that will stay wet for 2 days if I don’t dry it, and no “wash-go” method was ever working, I’m definitely back to blowing out my hair. I find I damage it less as I have to do less with it for longer.
Me too. Found that vr helpful; I have a microfiber thing one finds on Amazon and it blots out a lot of water safely. I use a wide tooth comb and low setting 5 min max then try a bit of styling. Total loser on that front but working on it.
Audrey, ever since you had your body type done, you have just bloomed. You have taken a giant step forward in style and fashion and in your overall looks. Your face just glows.
Absolutely adored this video, Audrey. And I have to say that raspberry sweater is stunning on you-I audibly gasped when I saw you in it. The color is perfection. I also love the silhouette of the new sweaters on you, they look very cozy!
I love your voice. I recently got into applying an oil to my hair before washing, and your video definitely gave me some next steps in maintaining healthier hair. I've also been a bit confused about my undertones, but contrast is something I'd just started to notice, and my misunderstanding this explains why it almost never looks like I'm wearing makeup (when I actually wear makeup). I also love argan oil. Thanks for the next steps!
Oh lovely Audrey, I am in a season of life where I am learning new lessons and because of that my RUclips feed looks quite different than it used to but man I love the nostalgia of coming to one of your peaceful videos, embracing your timeless wisdom, and basking in the calming yet intentional aesthetic. I am so grateful for you and your content integrity. Hugs to you 🖤
This video is so timely for me because I’ve just started focusing on good grooming and having a good attitude over trying to look perfect or like someone else. At 39 I’ve also finally started to embrace my natural curls in the last few months after hating them for most of my life. Learning to style and look after my curly hair has honestly been one of the best things I’ve done! 👩🦱 Now I just need to replace my incredibly old hairdryer (I’m hoping to get a Dyson in the sales). Also learning my colouring, contrast and body type has been really useful. I have light olive skin that is warm and muted, I have high contrast and am a soft classic (or soft blended) body type and having this information has been really helpful in choosing clothes and makeup and dressing in a more harmonious way. Embracing who I am through good grooming is also helping me to compare myself to others less often and instead focus on being the best version of myself ❤️
Hello Bianca, I just wanted to say hello and if you have already bought the Dyson I truly hope you're enjoying it! If you have not yet the T3 Cura or Luxe will save you quite a bit of money but they are just as good with all the same wonderful features. I'm a curly girl too who worked in the beauty industry for many years...you can buy them at Costco from time to time and they make many wonderful luxury heat styling/drying products. God Bless:)
i used to always let my hair air-dry since i kept hearing that heat/blow-drying was so bad. it would always dry so blah. then i saw the study that said blow-drying your hair about 6 inch away when its about 90% or so dry is better for your hair compared to just air-drying, completely changed how my hair looks!!
Wow! What you said about the level of contrast immediately explained to me why I look so mean with intensive lipstick color. And I see that making the eyes significantly more contrasted than they really are is also something to be avoided.
I love the tone and volume of your voice! Thank you so much for not shouting. I know that seems like an odd compliment perhaps but it makes your videos so enjoyable for me and then I can concentrate on what you are saying. Big thank you!
Can you explain the Low Medium High contrast side by side photos of yourself? I'm trying to understand what we should see here. Have you adjusted your makeup? Thanks so much and love your videos :)
Basically, her makeup goes from more nude (for her skin tone) to more vibrant (for her skin tone). The more vibrant, the more contrast. Another way to think of it, going from "day" makeup to "evening" makeup. More intense color saturation.
There is a filter that's altering the saturation of her features and her sweater, making her overall look higher in contrast (greater difference between lightness and darkness of the colors) or lower in contrast (the colors are all more similar in how light/dark they are). Contrast isn't about color it's about difference in depth of multiple colors. For example black and white are the most high contrast, light pink with deep navy blue would also be high contrast, while a light pink with a light blue would be low in contrast. :)
I like the way Style by Merriam analizes skintone. I'm cool, delciate, high contrast. Ithas really helped me pinpoint most flattering colors. Great tips Audrey! Thank you!
I love that you also use pure Argan Oil :) I have ditched all creams and fancy hair products for a few years now and ONLY use Argan oil. It's the best. The only thing I do use additionally is 50 SPF lotion (formulated for the face specifically), always. I have Melasma that flares up as soon as sun touches my face.
I know trends come and go, but I always thought good grooming is the best thing to practice. I get my brows done, so that I don't have to apply much makeup. And I find that good grooming and being presentable goes further than flashy colors or wild makeup (unless that is your style, and in that case rock it).
I love love love your gentle demeanor 😊 didn’t even get into the main content of the video and subscribed just because your self presentation is so lovely.
My second little one was born just a couple months ago, and my first just turned two. I've been struggling a bit over the past couple years with adjusting to my new body and my new hair (it curls differently and has been thinner/thicker/thinner than I'm used to 😬), and just feeling confident with my appearance overall. This video has been an encouraging starting point to reset with the important basics and try to get my bearings again. Thank you!
I was learning about using a color wheel for your undertones and then avoiding the color as well as the color wheel opposite. I felt like I was a yellow - orange and needed to avoid blue - purple as well 🙈 but I think greens and reds really compliment me and I'm happy to wear them a lot. And since I am wearing fewer colors it is a lot easier to mix and match my clothes.
I know this may complicate things, but the key is the specific shade of each color (with the exception of some that never work -yellow and orange look awful on me too). It depends, like Audrey says, on saturation and temperature (cool-warm) as much as on the color itself. Also, materials: optic white (which is usually harsh), works well on on shirting cotton but not great on a wool sweater. In the and you find put because you put the thing on and instantly feel well dressed, like something clicks.
Thank you for this. I have least been told that I have healthy hair and don’t need to use little to no products. Plus a good diet is a good thing to help.
Nice tips and always use thermal protection appropriate to the heating tool you're using. That blouse is my favourite color in the entire world, super dark blue is so beautiful.
you have a very calming energy and I like how uou speak at an inside voice as opposed to so many you tubers projecting their voice into the mic, it’s nicer to hear someone who speaks intentionally instead of just projecting their volume, I’m mesmerized and will be coming here to decompress after over stimulating days lolol
This was so helpful!!! The simple and consistent over complicated and inconsistent point is what I have found to be so true in self care and so many areas of life.
I quit using shampoo years ago ~ following the example of my 20-something daughter. This was a game changer for my fine hair, keeping it cleaner longer (it takes a few weeks to transition), making it bouncier and fuller too (no going back for me). I do use a body-building conditioner (Boldify) as well as a hair gel. Otherwise I’m poo-free, and my thin, lank hair has never looked lovelier ~ thick, and healthy.
Lucky you -I've tried but cave in when the grease takes over. I have fine hair too so it makes me look like a zombie. What did you replace the shampoo with? Some people do chickpea flour, others just water rinses... I feel like I can't.
Honestly, I hate the smell of dirty hair. It makes me nauseous. When I was single, I knew more than one guy who didn't shampoo every day and it was gross.
You’re so pretty without makeup! Love these tips and I’m already using the suggested Pureology Strength Cure shampoo and conditioner that I rotate out with the entire line of Olaplex products. Thanks for sharing this information, always love your videos and your beautiful voice!
Some of us didn't have mothers who did that. My mother had extremely dry skin and hair, and I have extremely oily skin and hair. She never used anything to cleanse her face but cold cream. She said that washing your hair more than once a week would ruin it and forbade me to wash my hair more often, which meant that 6 days a week I was a greaseball. She didn't know about conditioner, either. I had blackheads at 7 years old. It took me years of experimentation to figure out a routine and products that worked for me.
Thank you!! So helpful! Also, your "how to have a nice voice" Video was so helpful to me! I think I'm someone who sounded arrogant without me knowing it and without intending it and after that video I'm improving a lot. My mom screams less at me than she used to lol
Considering the pH: Before testing the pH of the products you should dilute them with as much water as you would use them with. So, a shampoo is never used pure, but diluted with water. This is important because the dilution changes the pH of the overall solution that is formed.
Great content!!! I would also suggest a future video on hand care routine specially to soften the effect of over washing our hands due to the pandemic.
I used to buy fancy hand creams, and then one day I decided to try the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream (in the tub), which I already had. I couldn't believe what a difference it made. Now, it's the only hand cream I use! I keep it by my bedside and apply it every night before I go to sleep. Considering I only apply it once at night, it keeps my hands soft, even during the winter, and I wash my hands a lot!! It would probably work even better if I applied it more than once, but I never think to apply it during the day, probably because my hands feel comfortable.
I lost your channel for while but I’m glad I stumbled back! I always enjoy your videos, the filming, your attention to presenting information, and just everything!!!
Of course you are writing a "how to" book, right?😉😍 Long time follower and have lots of notes from your vlogs but would prefer a book rather than my messy notes! No pressure!😂😂🥰🥰
Another way to see whether whether you suit warm or cooler colours is to see what colour your veins are on your wrist. Green veins mean you suit warmer colours and bluer veins mean you suit cooler colours.
Haven't seen anyone mention to emulsify shampoo first which is a very good tip. Only just learnt this. People don't talk much about pH apart from shampoo and even then not much so thanks for doing tips we don't often hear about!
I love your videos! Not only are they informative and helpful, but you have such a beautiful, soothing voice! You should do audible books! Thank you for sharing!🙏🏼♥️🦋
Love the video! What do you think of a cold water rinse for your hair. I live in a humid climate so when I take a warm or hot shower, the last thing I do, even when it’s winter, is to rinse my hair in cold water. If it’s too cold for my whole body, I just stick my head and hair under the cold water for a minute or two to make sure my hair is not steaming anymore from the hot shower and that the hair has really cooled down. I find that the texture of my hair is much smoother. Also, I take vitamins specifically for my hair and that helps too.
As someone without a female role model in my life to learn from thank you SO much for all of this advice! So many of these things are just assumed knowledge but it really does help to have it online. Especially because some women also don't participate or know these things so having women in your life doesn't necessarily mean you'll know these things! Thanks again, sincerely!
It won't let me edit but also wanna say learning hair was such a chore cause it was so hard to find videos and info for do long cause it was super "basic". So love seeing the basics being told in an easy to understand video!

Is the camera out of focus or is it me ?
A video on contrast would be much appreciated 🤍
I love your voice
The contrast part is vital. I'm cool undertones (very) and high contrast (= winter in color analysis) and low contrast cool toned makeup looks very uncomplimentary. My clothes are high contrast always and that's why a eyeshadow palette with white to charcoal grey eyeshadows and fuchsia lipstick looks much more compliantary.
Maybe I'm missing something. How do I find out the ph of my hair and skin?
Oil to the scalp and hair itself isn't for everyone. Be careful. The term rancid comes to mind. Just be cautious.
A lot of this is stuff I had to learn on my own growing up and I just really appreciate you making a safe space for people to learn without the judgment of “it’s common sense” (when it’s not).
totally agree grooming is very important, good food, a healthy body, and a positive mind are very important, and always grateful for everything that God has given us, love your all your videos, success for you
Your/her voice is so gentle and calming. So glad this was suggested to me today, a day I don’t feel well. This is soothing me.
Same. Curling mine too actually helps keep it sleek & healthy.
Audrey, ever since you had your body type done, you have just bloomed. You have taken a giant step forward in style and fashion and in your overall looks. Your face just glows.
I’m new to this channel… what body typing did she have done?? I’m intrigued lol
@@Sarah_Elle probably the Kibbe body type system
Absolutely adored this video, Audrey. And I have to say that raspberry sweater is stunning on you-I audibly gasped when I saw you in it. The color is perfection. I also love the silhouette of the new sweaters on you, they look very cozy!
Your voice makes me feel so peaceful and safe
I love your voice. I recently got into applying an oil to my hair before washing, and your video definitely gave me some next steps in maintaining healthier hair. I've also been a bit confused about my undertones, but contrast is something I'd just started to notice, and my misunderstanding this explains why it almost never looks like I'm wearing makeup (when I actually wear makeup). I also love argan oil. Thanks for the next steps!
Thank you for all your advices, makes me want to be as classy as possible and maintain a proper routine
Your voice is so soothing .... The perfect speed and softness + edge to it...
You say this all very clearly in a way that’s easy to understand. You make it sound easy! That definitely shows you’re an expert.
Hugs to you 🖤
I just love her soothing voice and also her content ❤❤
A correct color intensity has been so helpful. Recently I figured out what mine is, and I it's really helpful and makes me prettier.
Great video! putting your hair in a silk or satin bonnet at night is also very helpful to keep the style and make it less frizzy.
God Bless:)
Yay! Embrace your curls!! I’m a curly too. I stopped straightening in 2020 and I haven’t looked back. Check out @manesbymell on RUclips 💜
i used to always let my hair air-dry since i kept hearing that heat/blow-drying was so bad. it would always dry so blah. then i saw the study that said blow-drying your hair about 6 inch away when its about 90% or so dry is better for your hair compared to just air-drying, completely changed how my hair looks!!
Wow! What you said about the level of contrast immediately explained to me why I look so mean with intensive lipstick color. And I see that making the eyes significantly more contrasted than they really are is also something to be avoided.
Yay!! Thank you for including us, Audrey! 🤗
Me too
Basically, her makeup goes from more nude (for her skin tone) to more vibrant (for her skin tone). The more vibrant, the more contrast. Another way to think of it, going from "day" makeup to "evening" makeup. More intense color saturation.
@@JackOllie4 Thanks!!
@@joviandavis4915 Thank you!!
Love this! Can you do a Get ready with me? I love how your makeup looks so minimal and classy, and your hair too. ☺️
Ooh!! I second this!!!
Her hair is so healthy 😍
As a hairstylist I agree with everything you said in regards to hair care. Thank you for another beautiful video. May God bless you sis🙏🏼😇🌸
As a 17 year old, I aspire to radiate your energy throughout the stages of my life.
Like I've mention several time before, your hair is gorgeous.. A natural beauty..
Thank you for this! I'm nearly 44 and an esthetician - but I never really learned hot to take care of my fine, wavy (2B?) hair
Love how you are wearing your hair today
The contrast concept blew my mind. I would love a whole video on that. :)
I love her sweater, I enjoy watching her fall and winter wardrobes. So beautiful and timeless 😊😊
Oh my god, your energy is so calming and your communication skills are incredible. This is such a helpful video, thank you🖤
Hearing your voice is healing therapy for me. Very soothing.
Could you also do a video on grooming fine and thin hair? I can not go one day without washing and styling my hair if I need to go out!
I feel so classy and chic when I watch your videos 😭🥰 it makes me cry because I've lost my self confidence already. Thanks for your videos 🥰💖💕
you have a very calming energy and I like how uou speak at an inside voice as opposed to so many you tubers projecting their voice into the mic, it’s nicer to hear someone who speaks intentionally instead of just projecting their volume, I’m mesmerized and will be coming here to decompress after over stimulating days lolol
your voice is so calming and friendly i feel so comfortable watching this video
This was so helpful!!! The simple and consistent over complicated and inconsistent point is what I have found to be so true in self care and so many areas of life.
your voice is so calming, I think i could fall asleep to it (in the best way possible)
I love using argan oil on my hair. I do a lot of heat styling so it's super helpful to have an oil that can take the heat and keep my hair healthy.
Finding this complicated, would love more info re contrast. Thank you. You look amazing, your hair looks so healthy.
You’re so pretty without makeup! Love these tips and I’m already using the suggested Pureology Strength Cure shampoo and conditioner that I rotate out with the entire line of Olaplex products. Thanks for sharing this information, always love your videos and your beautiful voice!
Taking care of my hair (and skin) is something my mother taught me. It has simply become part of my hygiene routine.
Considering the pH:
Before testing the pH of the products you should dilute them with as much water as you would use them with. So, a shampoo is never used pure, but diluted with water.
This is important because the dilution changes the pH of the overall solution that is formed.
That's a good idea!
Thanks a billion for all your tips and your time.🥰
Wow I love your approach and the way you speak is very soft and kind. Thank you!
I lost your channel for while but I’m glad I stumbled back! I always enjoy your videos, the filming, your attention to presenting information, and just everything!!!
Her voice is so sweet and calming 🥺
Like one viewer here suggested - you should write a book! Love these tips! Is that a Dyson hair dryer by the way?
Ur such a darling ❤ thankyou for helping many females, as a hairstylist ur absolutely right about how u take care of ur hair...wonderful advice
Of course you are writing a "how to" book, right?😉😍 Long time follower and have lots of notes from your vlogs but would prefer a book rather than my messy notes! No pressure!😂😂🥰🥰
Yes, please!
I so agree with these sentiments!!
I'd love this too!
Yes, please!
Please!!
That pink sweater looks gorgeous on you
Another way to see whether whether you suit warm or cooler colours is to see what colour your veins are on your wrist. Green veins mean you suit warmer colours and bluer veins mean you suit cooler colours.
Or you can be neutral and suit shades from both ranges.
Haven't seen anyone mention to emulsify shampoo first which is a very good tip. Only just learnt this. People don't talk much about pH apart from shampoo and even then not much so thanks for doing tips we don't often hear about!
I think the photo on the left of the thumbnail is actually super super cute 🥺
Your voice is so calming and sweet !
Your voice is so soothing to listen. And love your smile
Ph, smoke point, saturation level? All new to me . I will need to watch this again.
The first video of yours I've seen, and you have the most soothing voice! Thank you for the great advice :)
omg your accent is super clear and relieving
Urgghh ... your voice is ridiculously soothing to my ears 😊
Most times I like the videos before fully watching. Audrey's content is always golden.
The smoke point of hair oils is genius!!
Do you have a video that focuses solely on contrast? If not, would you please consider doing one? I have not heard of this concept before. Thank you.
A RUclipsr named Ali Art covers this.
OMG her voice is so gentle :O
Will look into the low, medium and high contrast. Informative as always! Missed you on sunday :)
You have such a calming voice. I love it.
