    Algonquin is my favourite place in the world, and I've watched many videos about it - but your trip-logs are my favourites! The park is blessed with some gorgeous scenery, but your footage showcases it to perfection; the music adds a lovely accent, and watching you two adore on each other always brings a smile to my face. Keep on being awesome!

    Love the video, you too are an inspiration. Know this, I am starting to to canoe camping thanks to the inspiration from your videos. I have watched them all several time. This may not seem like a big deal to you but you must know I am a two time cancer survivor with severe disabilities including trouble walking. But that will not stop me. I am going to do canoe camping like you both and many others to marvel at the beauty this world has to offer. Thank you again and I hope to see you on the water.
    Best Regards

    I have stayed on Club Lake many times. Neat old truck cab and frame from the 1920s in the camp. I have seen more wildlife, Moose, Bear, Wolves, Mink and Fishers than any other single spot. Fishing is good too.
    Your trip looks so comfortable and peaceful. Thank you for sharing.

    Your canoe videos always make me smile. Thanks for that! 😊 Paddling is awesome if you want to calm down and experience nature! I‘ve started kayaking two years ago and love it. Not least of all because of the beautiful nature, animals (kingfishers, beavers, and lots of others I‘ve never seen before), campsites and amazing sunsets. 😉 Btw, Algonquin looks a lot like Dalsland in Sweden. Except with less people, more wilderness and more portages.

    I was eager to see this "Far North Algonquin" trip because I covered part of your journey way back about 1976! I, my husband, his roommate and the roommate's brother (all from Detroit) launched from Kiosk and continued down the Petawawa River, through the rapids and lakes, to Lake Traverse. It was a magical trip, and I've thought often about how much I'd love to do it again. (It wasn't so magical at first for John, whose brother told him they were going for a long weekend of disco in Toronto. Yeah, John canoed for the next 10 days or so in his clubbing clothes.) At Lake Traverse, at the end of the day, we hauled all our gear and canoes up a hill to what was then the CN station, where we had reservations to be picked up. The place was deserted. Train after train passed without stopping. Finally, in the wee hours, one did stop, putting all of us smelly humans in a passenger car and our canoes and gear in a boxcar. The route back to Kiosk ran along our canoe route, so we got to see it again in reverse from a train window. I was afraid that with all the years and the park's growth in popularity, the far north side of Algonquin might have become civilized; but it looks from your video like it's still good and wild, the way it ought to be.

    When we paddled this last summer, (I believe day 3 of 8 days over 150km) it was TORRENTIAL downpours all day. That 1705 from Mouse to Mink Cr was a waterfall 8" deep - just nuts! It tested all of our patience, camped on a tiny, sloped, scrubby sight on Erables that night. Boots were wet for the rest of the trip rofl. Great stuff as always Chris!

    • @lumberjackoutdoors933
      @lumberjackoutdoors933 6 лет назад

      And from your markers on the map, looks like you went a little further than us. We stayed at the south end of Mink, and then on Erables - the site on the little peninsula, opposite shore, straight south from yours, bout middle of the lake. One of our foursome was pregnant, and we had 3 dogs. Me and Mike also double carried every portage lol - it was a day. But I'm pleased we are in the same ballpark as you two! Running downstairs now to tell my fiance, she will be very pleased with herself! :) Cheers!

    I don't comment often on channels where I don't personally know the content makers unless I am touched enough to do so.
    Chris your footage is by far some of the best on YT, but you also have a voice that would lend itself perfectly to a more documentary style if you ever felt like going down that road too.
    I only ever paddle solo, but I'd make an exception for your wife, who has beautiful poise and knowledge in that front seat.
    And lastly, you may have missed it but I didn't, the look of deep love she gave you when you'd finally got that barrel in the tree, made an old guy happy to see.
    Great little series so far, good luck and stay happy ladies.

    Love your video's, always make me feel like I'm there too. On another note.... You girls need to hang your food barrel a little higher and farther out from the tree. You've been lucky so far, but that barrel is definitely within reach. The last thing you want is a bear into your food or worse. Stay safe!!!
