One of the things I really like about everyone's relationship to Subaru is that to them, he is someone who was never failed them, sure he can be awkward and embarrassing sometimes, but in the events that have now been set in stone he is an individual who came out of nowhere, weilding far more knowledge about events that are normally hidden or secret, and pulled off feats none thought possible, ie defeating both the white whale and a sin archbishop in the span of a few days with an alliance made up of people who are normally competing against each other. To the people he's touched Subaru is like a savior, he himself just doesn't realize that
And it is that very reason why Subaru is alone. So many times has he experienced death and he has no one to tell until Echidna wanted to know the outcome of him telling her. So many times has he had to hide the experience of not only dying, but the feeling of not doing the right things that result in the ones he cares about being hurt or dying, and feeling lost as to why this is happening. Some of which cannot be undone or answered. As I'm watching this, I'm always asking 'why?' as subaru is to himself, but more of why was he summoned, why did Emilia go insane and how do her and Stella correlate? (Then me remembering Emilia giving Subaru a fake name at the beginning of the series to see how he would react). The underlying theme really hits home once you start figuring out all the details of what Subaru is facing and how many times he has to fail to realize before he can fix the world around him, he must first figure out within himself he must fix first.

That scene of realizing how bad Subaru wanted and needed someone to know and to also see everything he has been through. That ending almost had me crying.

There were words that appeared when Echidna was “comforting” Subaru that look familiar to what we saw in the OVA about Puck’s oath he made to a unknown person about not interfering in Emilia’s life. This may suggest that Puck may know about Echidna.

But Puck is different, it was turned into a spirit by her, and abbiding a contract, lost memories of the contract like Subaru did, to the point of not remembering clearly who it is itself, but have the burning desire to protect Emilia. The reason as to why I'm referring to Puck as it, is because it's highly debatable who it really is, but speculations point to Emilia's aunt, who cared for her like a mother in the forest.

Speaking of roswald, a friend and I believe he is like sans from undertale, he knows what subaru has done. He can read subarus expression and make assumptions on what subaru has done. I also believe that Beatrice has an ability similar to this. This would explain why they seem more calm when subaru does something that couldn't be predicted. But hey I could be wrong.
There is a reason Roswall knows, in fact you already know as well. The only reason you havent made the connections, is because 1 piece of info is missing, and the rest isnt ordered in the right way to explain why Roswall has him figured out. But once the info lines up right later on, Roswall's relationships will change.
DarkmonstaR he knows suburu can do it because he has a book similar to Beatrice in which he follows , he can see the future which he does his best to make it go his way. All from the moment he arrived in this world. He kind of grooming suburu into doing the things that are told.
To be more specific on how otto's divine blessing works, he can understand the *intent* behind any form of communication used by a living being and vice versa, which along with being able to gather information from any creature around him, it somewhat would help him with seeing through a person's lies given they were being dishonest.
@@Ramsey276one I agree, however mastering it is rather difficult, for those who get this divine blessing tend to become insane, you can somewhat see this at play when otto went crazy when the white whale first appeared, as he could hear what the whale's intentions were and let me tell you, being able to *feel* something's intent to devour you that intense would likely make you shit your pants atleast a little.

I wouldn't trust Roswaal as far as i could throw him, Emilia is just a pawn .. also is she really Queen material (Crusch would be a better option ) but I don't dislike her however I feel more needs to be filled in esp regarding her Roswaal relationship .. I don't believe Echidna with her knowledge of Subaru's memories, wouldn't have already realized that subaru would probably return by death to that timeline if she were to die at that moment, eventually picking up his new found knowledge on the next retry, also knowing the odds were on her favor, being that she's technically dead already (she has no heart, only soul), and the trustworthy fact that Subaru died 99% of the time the instant he disclosed his secret.

I legit shed a tear for Subaru after he started to cry when he said that he could Return by Death to Echidna, the feeling of despair, hopelessness and the traumatic experiences he could never share with anyone, now he could as he felt a feeling of relief he starts to cry because finally someone can hear his traumatic experiences, finally he can talk to someone just to aliviate his despair and mind, I felt so relieved for Subaru because someone could finally hear his feelings, everything he went through and it saddens me knowing that no1 could hear him out because they would just end up dead or Subaru would just get his heart crushed by the Witch, my poor man can finally talk to someone about it :')
These scenes were the highlights in the LNs for me. Garfiel's transformation, the rabbits, and what comes next really reaffirmed that Arc 4 is no joke and puts season 1 to shame in a lot of ways.

Just wanted to drop by and say thank you... This is the first video I've seen where someone does an amazing job at explaining things in the background (manga), for those of us who haven't been able to get ahold of them... It was an amazing listen :)
The scary thing about the rabbits is that there was only one of them. They multiply like crazy and even if you kill all of them but one they can still get to that ammount in no time. It's as strong as or stronger than the white whale.
I have a question : how close Echidna's character in the anime in comparison to the Light Novel version? I'm asking because Echidna is quite a different character in the Web novel. But it's based on the different content of their conversations.
@Tsukiko Yukiji they misunderstand her even after reading chapter 79.5 and it actually surprises me. I'm tired of these people's misconceptions about her character.
@Tsukiko Yukiji The only reason I can think off : because Subaru said and thought so. For some reason these people take Subaru's misconception as the ultimate truth despite the revelation of the chapter 79.5. It's as if it never happened in the novel, that Subaru was wrong, right?
@Tsukiko Yukiji I would disagree there. Subaru's decision re: Echidna was one of the more foresighted decisions he has made. He'd seen just how callously Echidna treats her "test subjects" in the form of Beatrice and Ryuzu Meyer. He knew that if he cast his lot with Echidna, Echidna would be far more interested in conducting 'experiments' than in saving the people Subaru cares about. Her words and advice would become poison, and she would have no qualm in abusing Return by Death to repeat experiments to satisfy her curiosity. Subaru knew that she could not be relied upon to give good or even impartial advice, as she is too bound by her greed for knowledge to conform to human values.
@@Vasharan Subaru wouldn't even be able to come to this conclusion, if Echidna really wanted it not to happen. This "foresighted" decision was made by Subaru through Echidna's manipulations. How short-sighted do you think Echidna is? What, she can't see obvious consequences of her words? How the person, who has absolute control over her realm would allow other witches, who are not even real ones, but her creations to interfere into her conversation with Subaru at the most crucial moment?

I think that the anime is missing out on a lot about the way the worlds magic systems work quite a bit. Hopefully they talk about contracts and authorities more soon.
I’ll never forget when going through this anime that it was just so unexpected. I mean at this point we all knew sabura could die at anytime. But to rabbits? It was so brutal. They got into his skin and ate him alive. I literally screamed, and his screams of agony made it so much worse

To be more specific on how otto's divine blessing works, he can understand the *intent* behind any form of communication used by a living being and vice versa, which along with being able to gather information from any creature around him, it somewhat would help him with seeing through a person's lies given they were being dishonest.

These scenes were the highlights in the LNs for me. Garfiel's transformation, the rabbits, and what comes next really reaffirmed that Arc 4 is no joke and puts season 1 to shame in a lot of ways.

With the unamusing shock of sharp, merciless blades scraping his flesh to the bone, he turned up the whites of his eyes as white foam gushed from the back of his throat. If only he could lay down his head and faint, but the intensity of the agony had no intention of releasing his consciousness.
Bubbling blood spilled from the corner of his lips, and he writhed like a fish on land. The fact that his ears could still hear, must be both a miracle and a joke by a cruel God.
Like the rustle of lapping waves, the sound captured Subaru’s eardrums.
Little hops. Small, tiny bodies. The chain of overlapping chirps expanded to enormity, and even if his vision were still present, he had no desire to count them.
And, in a moment, he was sincerely glad that the only thing left to him was his ears.
Simultaneously feeling the bites of feeding teeth over all of his body, now, through the tactile and unmistakable pain, Subaru understood that he was being devoured by threats numbering in the hundreds.
He shrieked. And a surge pushed him onto his back as his throat trembled. Immediately, furry creatures dived into his opened mouth. His tongue was torn to shreds, sharp teeth flashed across the depths of his throat, ravaging everything from his esophagus to his stomach.
Inside, they collided with the others that had invaded from his rectum, and, as if descending into a competition, they devoured his organs left and right, turning Natsuki Subaru into minced feed.
It was the unmistakable sensation of being alive while living creatures shredded him from within.
Fear had already left him. There was barely any more pain. He couldn’t understand why he was still conscious.
He was being eaten. He was being eaten. His left eye was gouged out. His ears were no longer there. His organs had already been consumed, and now the skin of his face was being peeled off. A hole opened in his skull, and teeth sank into his exposed, bulging brain His body was formed anew.
His devoured flesh, his peeled skin, his gnawed bones, his chewed nerves, his slurped up blood, and his soul, trampled and ravaged with the utmost gluttonous relish―― returned to their original shapes.

The scary thing about the rabbits is that there was only one of them. They multiply like crazy and even if you kill all of them but one they can still get to that ammount in no time. It's as strong as or stronger than the white whale.

I have a question : how close Echidna's character in the anime in comparison to the Light Novel version? I'm asking because Echidna is quite a different character in the Web novel. But it's based on the different content of their conversations.

@Tsukiko Yukiji The only reason I can think off : because Subaru said and thought so. For some reason these people take Subaru's misconception as the ultimate truth despite the revelation of the chapter 79.5. It's as if it never happened in the novel, that Subaru was wrong, right?
@Tsukiko Yukiji I would disagree there. Subaru's decision re: Echidna was one of the more foresighted decisions he has made. He'd seen just how callously Echidna treats her "test subjects" in the form of Beatrice and Ryuzu Meyer. He knew that if he cast his lot with Echidna, Echidna would be far more interested in conducting 'experiments' than in saving the people Subaru cares about. Her words and advice would become poison, and she would have no qualm in abusing Return by Death to repeat experiments to satisfy her curiosity. Subaru knew that she could not be relied upon to give good or even impartial advice, as she is too bound by her greed for knowledge to conform to human values.
@@Vasharan Subaru wouldn't even be able to come to this conclusion, if Echidna really wanted it not to happen. This "foresighted" decision was made by Subaru through Echidna's manipulations. How short-sighted do you think Echidna is? What, she can't see obvious consequences of her words? How the person, who has absolute control over her realm would allow other witches, who are not even real ones, but her creations to interfere into her conversation with Subaru at the most crucial moment?
@Tsukiko Yukiji Regarding your first reply, If it wasn't in the LN, there is almost no chance of it being in the anime, since the anime is based upon the LN.

I think that the anime is missing out on a lot about the way the worlds magic systems work quite a bit. Hopefully they talk about contracts and authorities more soon.

I’ll never forget when going through this anime that it was just so unexpected. I mean at this point we all knew sabura could die at anytime. But to rabbits? It was so brutal. They got into his skin and ate him alive. I literally screamed, and his screams of agony made it so much worse
