Another thing that really fucks you up and detaches you from reality is just how much has gone wrong in such a short span from literally doing nothing. As if Subaru got transported to a different world where everything goes wrong. And that moment when his head falls off after seeing the giant wolf creature... really emphasizes it
Absolutely, especially thinking about the events of arc 3 and 4 (second half of season 1 and season 2). You don't realize it, but those event happen in the span of around two weeks from my knowledge. Not only that, but having to lose your main support and companion in the middle of all of that, I don't even think I would survive that tragedy.
I also love how at the end, it just zooms out on Subaru’s decapitated head, with the the silhouette of puck in the back, just having the snow pile on him. No ending song, just that lingering shot. Really hammers home the severity of it
It's bizarre because when I heard about Betelgeuse's backstory later on in the series, he became more of an extremely tragic character to me.
Yeah, there aren't really any characters that are evil for the sake of being evil. Everyone usually has a backstory and personality issue that leads to who they are in the present.

the episode before that was 10 times better. I think its called memories of the future
I love the VA for Betelgeuse, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, he nails every character he plays. Kirito from SAO, Inosuke from Demon Slayer, Belle from Danmachi, an evil priest from HS DxD, doesn’t matter the character role he’ll perfectly portray it. Also, usually u can tell when it’s him bc he has a very distinct scream/arghhhhh sound to his voice.
Yoshitsugu is a master at his craft, it's crazy how he can be so convincing as a young naive teen as well as a deranged psychopath.
soma from food wars 🍱 and as nodt from bleach
He also played fuutaro from quintessential quintuplets
Most recently he absolutely knocked As Nodt from Bleach out of the park as well.
I hate hearing his voice. He sounds the same regardless. The only 2 VA's that I've liked that sound similarly between characters are Hiroshi Kamiya and Tomokazu Sugita
The voice acting in Re:Zero is really good, and the actors can make some almost scarily accurate screams of pain and anguish
And on occasion, vitriol
I remember finding Echidnut through the vid where he explains Reinhard to his friend. I knew this was gonna be the new best anime channel on youtube right then and there.

This is 100% a brilliant episode, and made me fall in love with Re:Zero. This and S2 E4 Parent and Child are 10/10. Although personally, my favourite anime episode I've ever watched would be AOT's 'From You, 2000 Years Ago'.
Personally, Re: Zero is my all time favourite show, but AOT comes so near of it. Its epic moments like Eren's rages, Erwin's hype moments and OST's like Vogel im Kafig are makes it my second favourite thing. But when it comes to characters and their connections and interactions, psycologies and story telling, Re: Zero is undefeatable.
@@tahatohum5685 There are two animes that are far beyond the rest of me, steins;gate and re:zero. Steins;gate episode 22 I think is still my favorite all time episode for its brilliant subtleties and voice acting, and overall I think steins;gate is my favorite anime, however re:zero is the only anime in the forseeable future that could surpass steins;gate with its future arcs and I'm really looking forward to seeing what s3 and even s4 has in store because I'm foregoing reading the WN until it's animated.
@@XxSteamStreamxX Steins;Gate, Re:Zero and AOT are my top 3 - FMAB is close but those 4 are a cut above the rest. The soundtracks, the story telling, the psychology - as someone who loves time travel and sci-fi but never watched anime until last year, I was shocked by how good the shows can be.
@@thelightless You all shouldn't sleep on Kara No Kyoukai though, I adore all four of those animes as well, but Kara no Kyoukai definitely takes the number one spot for me personally, not just number one anime but piece of media. I highly recommend it to nearly anyone, though it should be noted that the series is incredibly dark, but seeing as everyone here is ReZero fans I'm sure you all will be fine. One hell of a mindfuck.
@@graphite7898 What a coincidence, I've been in the middle of re-watching Kara no Kyoukai recently. I'd seen it once before years ago before I'd gotten into the fate series, so it's interesting going back and watching it now and actually understanding a lot of the concepts presented in Kara no Kyoukai like Origin, Mystic Eyes, the Root, the Counter Force etc. Those movies may be getting pretty old now, but Ufotable was still at the top of their game even way back then.

Re zero has a special place in my heart. Subaru is insanely relatable to me. It was like staring into a mirror, and I hated it at first. But seeing Subaru struggle through himself and the obstacles around him made me remember how important it is to not give up.
I struggle every day with mental health issues. And even though I've never suffered as much as Subaru has. He inspired me to keep going.
The series has made me cry many times. Rem's confession, the entire episode of parent and child.
Him never being able to say anything about return by death is also relatable to me, because I find myself deep in depression but I can't even explain why. It feels so lonely and makes everyday life hell sometimes.
If it wasn't for Re zero giving me some light I honestly don't know if I'd still be alive. I'm still a bit of a shut in with no direction, but I'm getting better and Subaru has become my favorite anime character along with Rider from Fate/Zero.
I don't know what to say to that but if you enjoy re:zero and Subaru that much I think you should be like him and continue to live through all the suffering and come out victorious.
Another Broskander fan! 💪

I cant really speak to your situation, but I will say that it does get better. Just keep moving forwards, and eventually things will start looking up.
Just to prove your point, as soon as I read "episode of parent and child" I immediately started tearing up. That's when this anime really took off the gloves annd said "I'm done pulling punches"

The utter and absolute hopelessness this episode bred made the payoff between episodes 19-25 so worth it. Absolute misery turned into redemption and victory. Episode 15 still brings me to tears to this day.
I didn't even realize this was the best episode because I just binge watched season 1 completely and increasingly mesmerized by it like it was a 15 hour long movie. I didn't have time to notice any of the elements that went into making it, all I could think about was this shit is too good while anxiously skipping the end credits to watch the next episode.
After ep 15 i sat back onto my chair and as I saw the end credits roll down, my body felt as if it was one with Subaru's at that moment. That moment was the thing that made me love this show so much. Thank you for talking about this Echi-donna
Did the same thing while watching snow gather on Subaru's head
Crazy how I hated Subaru as a character so much I almost dropped the show then boom I’m blowback and actually sat through the credits in mere shock how this episode ended
My favorite episode of Re:Zero was season 2 episode 13. "You should love yourself more." after 38 episodes of buildup for what was supposed to be the big bad, that sentence coming out of Satella's mouth was the biggest brain blasting plot twist I've ever experienced in my entire life. I didn't see it coming at all.
Plz read it as web novel. It's easily the most well crafted thing in the series, and uh... a part of it was left out - god knows why - which made it twice bigger... not only does she say that...

On the first watch, the episode felt like an entirely different anime. As if the animation encroached into our reality, a foreign invader. I’m glad to have found this channel and just wanted to say Thank you, from references of Call of duty zombies, breaking bad, and other great anime u recommend like “summertime render” that u put in just never miss. Congrats on 200k and love the content man, your channel will blow up one day🤙

Thanks for coming back to Re: Zero! Personally, I prefer S2 E4. However, I can agree that Episode 15 was 100% the episode that made Re Zero my favourite anime as well, and it's precisely what made Episode 18 so great as well - I don't think it would be considered nearly as good if Episode 15 set the stage for what Rem means to Subaru and vice versa. Requiem of Silence was absolutely the best piece of music to come from any anime for me. Also, have you thought about making any solo videos on Summertime Render?

This Episode still gives me goosebumps whenever I watch it. The voice over in this episode still gives me chills. Both Japanese and English VA did exceptional job in bringing out the best of this scene.
My favourite episode and anime of all times!!
Re:Zero is the second anime I have ever watched, as of now I am season two episode two.
Just so you know I haven’t ever, EVER cried at a piece of media, and never teared up either. Maybe I would get a little sad and be like as that sucks, but never cried.
Oh… my… god… this episode, along with the episode in which Subaru says the what I call bc it’s easy to remember “let’s run away” speech to Rem MADE ME CRY LIKE HELL. Hell crap am I glad I was home alone because holy shit. This show is not only funny at some sections, but amazingly crafted, beautifully made, great action sequences, HEART BREAKING moments, horrifying and gruesome sections. I am obsessed with how actually amazing this show is and it is genuinely insane how much I am. It is all in all one of, nah, the BEST show I’ve ever watched. Absolutely amazing in every way. That’s my opinion at least.
Edit: it also sucks i can’t share this with anyone or talk about it with anyone because no one I know has watched it or wants to watch it lol. I wish I could talk with a friend or smth though 💀
Okay, this is indeed an epic episode
Couldn't agree more, definitely my favourite anime episode of all time.
Watched it like 20 times and it didn't fail to make me tear up even once.
Nothing but facts. Episode 15 is what cemented Re:Zero as my favorite anime. Now that its been around a week since I binged season 1 and 2, I still feel like watching more
Yeah, I watched the episode. Paused before the end scene (post credits), and cried the entire night while staring at nothing. I had to search the ost, rewatch the episode, and then keep re-listening the soundtrack until I felt right not doing it. I kept crying, knowing not to watch more until I had processed it, allowing it to leave the biggest mark ever in my heart. 5 Years later, I still got more emotional from listening to it, than anything else. I was back there within seconds of hearing the tune. 5 rewatches of the series and 7 years, and ep 15 still clutches my heart. I know what's going to happen, but it doesn't matter. The buildup is too good. My eyes transfix to the screen, I wake up 25 mins later, and my brain trembles the next day.
*"Keep talking about Re:Zero, Peace out"*
I just realised how I missed those lines so much.
Not gonna lie, I had to dig into the depths of my knowledge to try and think of an episode from any other anime that stood alone as a testament to brilliant animation, character writing, storytelling, music, etc. I think I finally got one that matches it, and you could argue it surpasses.
Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song
Episode 4: Ensemble for Polaris
I watched Vivy. Really liked it. But none of its episodes hit me like episode 15.
My take was Code geass R2 episode 25. My fav anime of all time

Vivy has one of the same writers as Re: Zero so it's not surprising.
5th time rewatching re zero. Still is an amazing insane episode and is my favorite episode, also episode 18 with rem starting Subaru “from zero” is right below it, hits hard.
chills man... those videos hit even harder knowing that all your friends and other people you've met don't understand and don't want to understand why you love re:zero so much. i'm in the middle of rewatching it for the 3rd time and honestly, it's even better than before. I'm also a ln reader and until now i caught up with arc 6 which hit so damn hard that it became the best thing i've ever read. I just know that if one day they decide to animate it and if the production team puts their hearts into it, it's going to be the greatest anime ever.

Echidnut your commentary was excellent Love this vid.
came here for Re:Zero, Stayed for Echidnut.
I watched this show when it was coming out and I was still a relatively new anime fan. Rem quickly became one of my favorite characters by episode nine and I honestly loved Subaru as a character. I think people have a hard time understanding who he actually is. Anyways, I agree with Echidnut, this is probably the best stand alone episode out there. (If not, just the best episode in anime ever!) I was glued to the screen and could not process the credits, and when I did, I practically got on my hands and knees and begged for it not to end there. I also thought this was the end of Season one and LOVED it! Of course, it was two week until the next one came out and those were the two weeks when I thought on the show and knew Re:Zero would be my favorite anime of all time!
100 percent agree. Though S1E18 "From Zero" is my all time fav episode in anime, this one wholeheartedly made me absolutely fall in love in Re Zero.
As much as _loathe_ I love Emilia, everything up to that point is absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't even despise the ending if it wasn't for how perfect the pacing and animation was for the buildup. It was so deeply moving. It's one of the best episodes of any anime, except for those 3 words
Re:Zero made me fall in love with it since episode 7 season 1
Man.. shit is real when Echidnut doesn't make any hentai jokes.
It was fun watching your vids right after each ep of S2 back then because i didnt know wtf was going on every time and you break it down perfectly and I was an anime only.

Haven’t seen a better analysis on this episode ever. I can’t think of a video were not only i agreed with every statement made, but encapsulated better than i ever could how i felt about everything you just said. It is the pinnacle of the series and honestly my favorite episode in any series. I’m literally crying right now just from listening to Requiem of Silence and after remembering everything once again even though i have watched and read every version of this series countless times. Truly a Masterpiece of a series and even more the Most Emotional episode of any story i have ever read.
This episode was incredible, but for me the episode in season two were Subaru meets the witch and his finally able to open up about what’s going on and Someone knows and understands what’s been going on will hit forever
one of the things i love about re zero is how power scales.
when ur MC is basically a regular human, all the bat shit insane powers and dangers of the other characters come into full effect. Subaru has to use every advantage and ally he can get his hands on
Thank you for the vid. Good to Re:Visit Re:Zero lol. I missed it. I do agree that this episode is the anime industry's best piece so far. May season 3 come soon and have something close to as epic. Arc 5 is prolly my favorite section of story so far just because of how dense and significant the cast is. May Re:Zero and Echidnut's full lengthy girthy Re:Zero based glory return soon.
The first time I ever rewatched just a specific episode of an anime was this one. The directing and score had such a huge impact on me.
I remember when this first came out. I was blown away! This one episode has stayed with me for years and even when forgetting the name of the episode or even the name of the anime. These scenes stuck with me. No other episode of any tv series comes close.
Been subbed since Re:Zero Theories - Season 1. I always felt like you deserved far more subs. Also, I used to put your channel name in the tags on my own videos (sorry, lol). And you're absolutely right about ep 15. Betelgeuse's animation, the game of deadly twister, and the wtf ending reminiscent of End of Evangelion are the main reasons why it's my favorite overall episode.
Rezero is an absolute masterpiece
Totally agreed. This episode was such another level that it left a deep impression under me for days. The emotions, ruthlessness and gruesome values shown in this episode shocked me. It truly felt like an ending
This episode is what made me really fall in love with re zero. It showed me how amazing the series could portray suffering and hope.
My favorite episode of anime though has yet to be animated.
I’m waiting for the final chapters of mushoku tensei to be animated. Nothing has ever made me as emotional as the bittersweet ending of mt.
However that isn’t really fair, so I think in the meantime my favorite episode of anime has to be in steins;gate where okabe accepts kurisu’s death. This is quickly followed by the last episode of toradora and then this one.
Yeah I remember watching that episode and that SHIT WAS FUCKING INSANE! Easily one of the best episodes I’ve seen. Also,
At 0:57 as someone who’s been with you since the beginning I definitely miss those days. Miss the days you when you would cover the recent re zero chapters in the web novel. I’m proud to see you grow so much, you definitely deserve it 👍💛

Re zero is annoying as f subaru is the lowesr iq human being i habe ever seen
I wish I had discovered Re:Zero and Echidnut back when it first aired. I only found the anime just before season 2 started and have been a big fan ever since.
I was browsing through Crunchyroll and found this anime at around midnight, I ended up staying up all night to binge watch it. I had to go to school though right after I finished this episode, but it easily cemented Re:Zero as my favorite anime. It's also the anime where I found my favorite fictional character of all time. This anime is awesome
When I watched this episode and my jaw just DROPPED as I silently watched my screen through the rolling credits, I knew this was going to be my favorite anime of all times and probably my favorite work, even on top of berserk (that's HUGE) I instantly became a Rezero fan, so I really feel everything you talked about this episode like the fist time I watched... Just a MASTERPIECE.
Episode 22 of 86 is a master class. The setup of every scene and the use of letter box to show shins mental state is fucking gold.
You know it was a good episode when I was watching it with my brother who wouldn't shut up at any point while watching Re:Zero when episode 14 ended and episode 15 ended, he didn't say a single word.
This was and still is the only episode of any anime that caused my jaw to literally drop. During those credits, all I could do is stare at the screen in equal parts awe and confusion. It's an absolute masterpiece.
Yes i agree completely. I watched a lot of animes all my life i even try to watch almost anything that goes out. But i will never forget this episode it was so overwhelming that i took a screenshot posted it in Facebook (something i rarely do) just to never forget how it felt to watch this
I missed these rezero videos
5:54 honestly my soul almost went out when I watched this scene. I thought he's back at very first checkpoint and all of his progress lost because I saw the apple guy (that apple guy almost gives me a heart attack!). But I'm cried at joy when I see Rem, It gives me a sense of relief, hoping that this time, Subaru can overcome this loop...
But he gives up...
The last loop make him lose his sanity, breaking his confidence. This is the moment when I start to sympathized Subaru, he's not only an anime character but a human for me. He has many flaws, but he always tries to find a way to overcome the problem in front on him. He's always scared but never surrender to it.
But episode 15 changed it, such a tragic. It's hard to see him at his breaking point; he finally gives up after experienced such an extreme despair, losing every person that is important to him time and time again, and the worst part is he will never escaped it even when he dies.
That's why this anime is one of a best for me because it gives you a rollercoaster of emotions that any anime can't achieved even if you watched a hundred episodes in them.
Re: Zero only takes 15 episodes to become a masterpiece.

The whole episode was startling, but when his head slid off and the credits rolled, the snow accumulating on his body, that's what got me to love the series. The complete understanding of its characters and plot
Kinda nostalgic to remember that I found Echidnut through his re:zero alternate timeline stories... It's really been a while a he's really improved!
When you have a symphonic piece that swells as movie-like credits move down the screen, you know how much love and effort they put into it; because to them it's more than an episode of an anime. It's something you can present at a filmfest. They could've started this episode saying "_White Fox Presents_" and it would've been justified. Fantastic video man; I'm sure the studio would be pleased to know somebody fully appreciate their work of art.
You explained my feelings about this episode perfectly. Im actually surprised, you were able to put it in words, because I haven't been able to do that. Amazing video, and an awsome job!
This video excited me at first only to left me feeling nostalgic and melancholic...
The fact that I still remember exactly how I felt, when did I watch and where did I watch the episode, the fact that I caught up with Re:Zero when it was in ep 14, meaning this was the first episode I had to wait a whole week to watch the next one, the fact that I was on vacation at the moment and I was so invested in the anime that I rewatched the episodes multiple times, the fact that th episodes aired on Sunday, so I kinda felt like I was agonizing the whole week for the next episode... Those are some good memories and I agree, this is the greatest episode I've ever seen... but now I feel melancholic, I don't think I'll ever feel the same again, not even with the upcoming arcs or other animes. Some have come close, but this video reminded me of how awesome this episode was... And that I won't feel it again. Thanks I guess?
Man, seeing you talk bout Re:Zero really takes me back to 2020 and the Covid Arc lol
Happy Roxy Day!!!
I’m so happy that you’ve finally hit 200k, I’ve been subscribed since the videos from the first part of season two and I’ve had so much fun watching all of your videos. I am proud to be a follower of someone from such culture. And a member of Roxyism.
Thank you a lot man.
Not only you strengthen my flame of love toward Re;Zero. You gave a deeper understanding to one my favorite episodes ever
Thank you
I remember tuning every week to see you and chibi reviews take on the latest ep release or the light novel overviews
i still like the memory snow ova more, no one suffers
I missed the Re Zero vids from you tbh, its been soo long and i wasnt expecting this upload from you today, but it was an amazing surprise, amma go grab some snacks now and enjoy this video with very based and goated takes.
This was my first anime and I’ve never regretted anything less than that💙
I love the fact that you used the dancer of the boreal valley theme from dark souls 3 near the start of this video. It really is eerie
Every time I recommend re zero I tell people that they'll get mind-pucked because of this episode. Everything about this episode is completely phenomenal. No other anime has made me feel the way this one does aside from the Pain vs. Naruto fight.
And then I tell them about this channel and how every video is a mind-puck all on its own because somehow you end up sexually frustrated every single time.
watch more anime
@@lovelyaero4872 what does that have to do with anything?
@@d4s0n282 everything literally everything bro said besides naruto vs pain like cmon bro thats your standards?😆 no wonder you glaze re zero
@@lovelyaero4872 I mean, if thats what he liked its fine, its just his taste, I personally don't cus naruto worldbuilding and story is quite ass, but power to him if he likes it
That Ep is definitely a masterpiece. The end scene credit roll was the perfect touch to such an amazing Ep. Though my favorite Ep for S1 was Ep 18 and I'm not even into romance in shows. I usually skip those scenes but, that Ep had me in tears figuratively of course. We all know "real men" don't cry lol.
For me it's either the last episode of Steins Gate, the Ushio episode in Clannad, the ending to s1 and s2 of Code Geass, and/or the Mother's letter episode in Violet Evergarden

The one where okabe goes to America?
@@liamscott1905 no thats an OVA. the last official ep of SG s1 is the ep he saves Kurisu and meets with her at the end
