This episode felt like an entire season packed into 20 minutes. I felt horrible about everything, but my curiosity just keeps getting worse.

But basically Elsa hates Subaru because she claims "A person only reacts one of two ways when faced with death. To fight and reject death, or accept it." She hates him because she says his eyes show that he chooses neither. She said if she had to name the feeling she got from him it was "Death isn't the end." And opening a person up like that is boring.
Basically there's the shonen "I WON'T DIE" and the seinen "WELL YEAH THAT'S IT" while Subaru just goes "fuck it, that's it ... FOR NOW, SEE YOU NEXT LOOP BITCH"
Man idk if I want to start the second season. I've watched the first 5 years ago but it still etched itself in my mind. If I watch this I'm gonna get ptsd 😔

It won't happen though, but it would have if Subaru chose to refuse Beako's help and fought Ram (which is what got him into the pride route).

I just realised that the same way echidna made a pact with Subaru making him forget they met, before Subaru was isekaid he might have met satella and made a pact with her giving him his return by death whilst forgetting that they ever met. The gap between Subaru at the grocery store and the other world might have been that window for their meeting?
who knows. at this point tappei could come up with any explanation and i bet it is gonna be not satisfying enough.
why so pessimist? So far out of ALL the media and stuff i have seen end recently, only bojack horseman, MCU's Phase 3, and MAYBE Arrowverse's saga of Oliver Queen, and Agents of SHIELD have ended at least satisfactory enough.
But with all the theories and hype about whatever is the main core of re: zero's story, my guess is the hype would make it seem anticlimatic to the fandom no matter what.

That issss a vaild point, it could be how he remembers it instead of what actually happened
There's a theory that they already met 400 years ago and that Return by Death was originally Satella's power - hence why the Sword Saint, the Sage, and the Dragon couldn't kill her, but sealing her off was effective at stopping her, since not dying was RBD's weakness. Satella was also repeatedly using this power to save Subaru in the same way Subaru was using it to save Emilia.
*SPOILER ALERT*
In the 3rd tea party, the reason why Subaru couldn't remember ever saving and loving Satella when she claimed he did, was because it all happened in a deleted timeline, in the same way Emilia couldn't remember saving Subaru in the first timeline shown in the anime.

Subaru doesnt really understand that its isnt his fault for being so powerless, each and every individual from the Lugnica hes facing either been trained since childhood or has overpowered magic prowess, Subaru has been summoned without even having any idea what the hell is even going on.
Yea, it's really unfair that he has to solve anything in this story. His problems seem to get worse every arc too.

@@spicyluvsyou In Ayamatsu If Subaru actually died for real after achieving his purpose in that route, so we can determine RBD works because Subaru *refuse* to die and as long his death isn't fulfilling one it will work infidelity (or as long Satella decide otherwise)

I doubt that episode 11 was his weakest bruh. I think he was powerless (in terms of fighting ability and magic prowess) he was also more confused as he had no clue of what he was doing it was unfortunate.

i believe its just a misunderstanding from roswaal. to me it wouldnt make sense that subaru would travel to another universe. His power, return by death was granted to him by the witch of jealousy. I doubt the very incarnation of envy would allow him to go to "another" satella as she loves him too much. the purpose of return by death is to make subaru make the "correct choice" from her perspective. What I believe is the way it works is that she transfers his soul to the past

Emilia up until now is inferior to her kid self since Pandora messed up her memories and also pucks contract had something to do with her memories so she is just a shell of the real her which is badass definitely not even close to useless. Emilia will become a badass she is a badass in the novel

@Theodoric MacCambell I imagine so, he said he has been around for 400 years. I guess he uses the same body hopping technique the archbishop of sloth used to also stay alive for so long. Incidentally both of them are insane.
@@scavenger6576 slight spoiler but he actually uses the technique Echidna developed with the clones (except he uses his own children instead of clones).
I know the anime couldn't go into details on the how this loop was subarus' true hell loop just after saying he had seen hell, due to potential pacing problems, but i am stillglad on how it was adapted.
Kinda sad the whole "the villagers and Otto were in a cathedral, which then they set themselves on fire to avoid the rabbit" couldn't even make it as a sort of quick mention in a quick montage of say in less than 10 to 20 seconds showing Subaru meeting a Ryuzu clone, seeing otto with the rest at the cathedral, and the garfiel meeting him, him reacting with horror and BOOm immediately to the emilia scene.
Then while subaru is walking through the tomb, having out of context less than 1 second cuts to those scenes with effects making it look like a damaged film. that way you don't waste time, but still able to show the carnage. and the kinda "out of context" nature of those quick cuts hypothethic cuts (cathedral that some scenes ago you saw with the people on fire, ryuzu clones exploding, etc.) would make it look worse

So Roswaal, an insane person, is pushing Subaru and Emilia into a corner so they can become insane like him in order for him to accomplish his main objective that probably has something to do with reviving Echidna.
Subaru is lucky to have friends to fall back on but Emilia only has Subaru and her deadbeat dad cat, so no wonder that she is going insane in all those loops.

One thing though, kinda wished you said Subaru's thoughts more when he was dying in Emilia's lap. I can guess what they might've been. In the end though, it is a guess as I do not know how dying repeatedly in horrifying ways feels. That is a huge thing that will never make me able to think like Subaru. That's why I wished you talked about his thoughts in his final moment more.
Anyways, still an awesome video! It really helps sort out the hell we all saw, while giving us more details to the scenes. I didn't even know that Roswell knew that Subaru's resetting power came from Satella.

Everything unfolded when roswaal said he ordered Elsa to kill everyone in the mansion. Remember when Elsa went to the shop and attempt to kill Emilia and Subaru yeah it all makes sense
Elsa did not know they were going to be there, she had paid the thief to steal the Emelias insignia and had come to collect it. Roswaal on the other hand may have known due to his book which had destiny written in it.
Natsuki on the other hand was essentially an element of chaos in destiny, it was him making things happen in ways that were not supposed to happen due to his meddling. In doing so he broke destiny and created a different future from the one that was supposed to happen. The story is essentially a battle of wills between Natsuki and Roswaal, one trying to break destiny and the other trying to correct the breaks and get things back on course.
Satela on the other hand probably also knew about destiny, and did not want destiny to happen, that is why she brought Natsuki into the world, to act as a tool of chaos to break destiny and bring about a different future, one that SHE could indirectly influence to her benefit.

Finding out Beatrice's back story during this loop was so sad and reading it made the loop seem never ending. I love Re zero
This episode was definitely one of the most intense ones to watch. I remember back in s1 when the hardest thing to watch was Subaru be a dumbass in front of the white knights and stuff due to awkwardness, and even all the intense suffering was easier to watch.
But this.. This is far more than that.
You do a great job detailing episodes in a very understanding way.
The months of wait between the end of this half of the season and the start of the next, when this arc is supposed to conclude, are gonna be torture.

This is the only anime that gave me hints of anxiety. Its always a constant battle for him. Every sense he went to the castle its been a hell repeating over and over and right when it overcomes a obstacle another larger one appears. Even jumping into season 2 there wasn't any time for light hearted play it was straight intensity. Pretty great ride honestly

After finishing season 1 almost 2 weeks ago. It hurts my soul seeing these characters I've grown to enjoy suffer another circle of hell.
what I like about Re Zero is that characters don't suffer for shock value, they suffer because it hints at someone behind the plot or hints at character weaknesses. Half of the shet Subaru goes through is due to his own incompetence and the other half is caused by Roswaal forcing this situation upon him.
This means that there is a way to resolve this (beat the mastermind, better yourself), and it makes those "resolution" moments all the better.
Great content as always. I'm really enjoying this season. Super sad we only have one episode left.

I've been considering the possibility that Emilia doesn't look like
Satella but IS Satella herself. This episode and the following episode
really drove that point home for me. I'm getting some real Attack on
Titan and Future Dairy vibes from Emilia. Dark or Evil Emilia is very
terrifying and acts very similar to Satella as the Witch of Envy. I
theorize that somewhere along the line that Emilia becomes Satella and
somehow travels very far back in time and becomes the Witch of Envy.
Emilia is said to have the same blood as Satella which makes her a
direct decedent (which is kinda unlikely but not impossible) or Satella
herself. Also at the start Emilia flat out states her name is Satella.
Epic case of foreshadowing such of the like of Attack on Titan's
chapter one?
