Great soundtrack. Loved the movie. It was borderline award worthy for many reasons, combine them all and its worth 100 minutes of your time.

Hey I was famous in Missouri everybody knew my name
From Kansas City to St Louis they knew how well I played my game
Now it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
Sometimes my heart feels heavy sometimes my head feels light
Sometimes I think back to Missouri and other times I feel all right
But it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
Cause there ain't nobody to hear it anymore
And there ain't nobody out here keepin' score
And when I look back it seems like such a crime
To believe a woman who was lyin' all the time
Hey I was famous in Missouri I sure was fast with a deal
Long before the women and the whiskey made my heart forget to feel
And it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
Yeah it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range

Mr. Robb, Tom T. Hall did not write this song. My husband Jerome Clark wrote the lyrics to this song. Robin and Linda Williams wrote the music. Can you please fix this? Thank you.

Just a great song - one of the few Tom T. Hall recordings that The Storyteller didn't write himself. I remember hearing Mr. Hall on Ralph Emery's daily radio show in the summer of 1984. Famous in Missouri was the first single from Hall's underrated Natural Dreams album. Emery mentioned that the song had taken off quickly on the country charts - particularly in Florida. Bergen White did the string arrangements on the album. Hall was so pleased that he sent White a bottle of brandy. P.S. I Love You (Hall's last Top 10 hit) was the second single that came from the Natural Dreams Lp.

I have a copy of the '45 and Tom T. Hall is NOT credited with writing Famous in Missouri. The song was written by Jerome Clark (lyrics) and Robin Williams (music). If you read through the comments you'll see a post from Jerome Clark's wife verifying this.
