- We are getting ready for Yule. Yes a few low budget filming continuity errors of course. James hair grows so fast !!! I'm no expert at video making. We do still buy some food from the shops, like the things we cant grow or impossible to make. All in all we are now about 75% self sufficient in total. Things like water heating, electric, home heating, home maintaining, of course plenty of veg grown and meat from our poultry.
Hello, merry Christmas all. What a ball ache getting this video up ! 3 days just to burn and load up to youyube, glitches, sound missing ! 10 hours upload times ! Anyway, my camera is old and blurs often, my laptop is running slow but we got there in the end. The continuity is a bit off as well, James's hair grows fast ! Drink and eat big and have the best Christmas ever all ! take good care, love and peace and boy do we need peace !

Brilliant video Gary, loved it!! Definitely was inspirational. Gonna bake my own loaves. Needed reminding, seeing you putting that loaf in the oven did the trick. ❤
Inspiration...............If only a lot more people did this sort of thing. As you said, in WW2 things were worse, but everyone was healthy.

Celebrating Appalachia... she lives a simple country life and they do a LOT of excellent cooking videos that you will enjoy. The second one... Cowboy Kent Rollins ... old time cast iron cookery. A final one... The Hillbilly Kitchen .. she also makes a lot of money saving old recipes. You will love watching these channels. Consider the recommendations my Christmas gift to you.

I swapped the sugar with honey raw cane sugar mixed with mixed nuts from my forages and own trees also can mix nuts and fruit, which makes a superb sweet gift. Homemade foraged wine yep I already started the pagon festive yuletide at 4am with a bit of wine and a homemade mince pie slice 🤣 (a little bit much of bubbling in pie)

Sugar, fat and flour - all cheap and high in calories, so they're very filling and they were and still are used very widely. Good ol' stodge! Hope you're all having a lovely day and looking forward to the lighter mornings and evenings. Happy Christmas!

I love the cooking side of homestead I have been making sausages using fruit and veggies homemade nut roast the only thing I brought was planet base bacon and sausage meat to make a wreath with some foraged fruit. next year I will cut down on the boozy bakes lol moment doing chores was fun but at least could not feel the pain of the ligament I tore after falling down a pothole (yes I was sober at the time). Have a super holiday and can't wait to see you in the new year
Hope your all healed up now, i must admit ive been pissed quite a lot over Christmas ! the homebrew has now temporary run out here, but busy making some more, my recent parsnip wine was a big fail, it must have got bacteria in it ( even though we sterilise like crazy ! ) and tasted like vinegar ! it went down the sink. Yes dry January even though i did not want to take part ! thanks and take good care, thanks for your comments, its lovely to read your updates.

With the snow up here and the cold, I have suffered cramping and swelling from my ankle taking some herbal remedies and soaks to help ease it. I still have marrow and rose hip and sloe gin left for my cousin's birthday. I am slowly potting around trying to get organized and get planting plus building and creating habitats and shelters for nature and my poultry

Hi Gary. Great video. If I was out getting produce from my garden it would consist of onions and now mouldy courgettes although we did have tomatoes up to the week before Christmas?!?!? My gardening skills are crap.

Well its the new growing season soon so get that soil ready ! Sorry to here you have been through the wars in health, Yes i also recommend a super healthy high organic veg diet, Kale is easy to grow and is classed as a super food. over the years i have been watching Doctor Berg Link here===> www.youtube.com/@DrEricBergDC . He uses food as a medicine, certain foods for different problems, his advice has been so so helpful for my aging body with great improvements for me and more reasons for us to grow our own organic healthy veg Chris ( get planting ! ). He does have advice on anti inflammatory diets as well. I hope things improve for you, thanks for your comment take good care Chris

Hello Joe, thanks for your question, I'm always open and honest about questions. First of all to start earning money you must have 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of viewing time in a rolling year. In the last 28 days i have earnt £34.19 that was with 11000 views from my videos , when i was putting videos out more regular ( 3 per month) i was just about making £60 per month, but it was just too time consuming. I could not get all the jobs done on the smallholding. My total lifetime earning on here is now at £1,898.31, this is all thanks to you and the others that pop by to watch. The Money has all gone towards setting up and many projects here, so thanks so so much for popping by, keep safe and well.

ha ha yes your so right, i try not to mass consume at the shops though like all the others, Christmas to me is just a massive land fill exercise ! , we do celebrate it as yule though as I'm not religious, i see myself as a peasant living off the land and in the old days they celebrated yule until the bloody Christians beat it out of them ! . cheers and take good care.
