thank for being really honest about tension adjusting levels.Others keep telling us that bobbin threat on test result should be exactly 1/3 which is practically impossible to happen every time for all needles with different threads.
When I first started I used hand held tension testers every week until I got a “feel “ for the best tension when pulling on thread. After that it was easy to feel the thread before each sample run to know if tension will be a problem. Don’t forget that as you are nearing the end of your cone of thread tension will adjust again. Thanks for the video 😁👍
Hello Laura thanks for another very clearly stated tutorial on an ongoing issue for most novice embroiderers. Thread tension issues can sure ruin a good day not to mention good garments. I use a simple inexpensive spring type tension gauge to set my bobbin tension, that works great and the top I rarely have to touch but if I do I always lean on the side of looser instead of tighter as I find that tight anything causes problems in my limited experience. For a home hobbyist it take no time at all once a week to run the column test and make the adjustments as necessary. BUT you can not adjust anything unless you have the knowledge to fix the issue and that you have eloquently provided us with. Thanks and keep up the great work, oh have you every done a tutorial on multi hooping as that just blow my mind. lol
Thank you! My Husqvarna Designer 1 automatically adjusted top TENSION, that was 20 years ago. I bought a Husq Diamond (only 1 1/2 hours on it) like new! It is still very like new to me, bc of being able to adjust top tension. Thank you for your help!!
Thanks again for an excellent video. I think this answered all my questions. Was getting so frustrated trying to recommence stitching out a design but my machine suddenly started shredding and breaking thread after putting in a fresh bobbin. I was looking for affirmation of which direction the turn the tension dials to tighten up which of course sounds obvious now... Love your videos. Have so much more confidence with my adventure with my new machine.
Still new to the embroidery game... Just got my first order... The bobnin theead was showing at first. Did a tension test corrected that problem. Now I have loopping.. All in the same area of different patches...
I have a brother pr600ii its been a headache to configure. It breaks thread a lot it also gets uncalibrated and the hoop size for hats is 1.99inches. Your channel has helped sooooooooo much thank you

I did something really wrong to my bobbin! Trying to do my first 3D letter (one). the birds nest was so bad I had to cut it away from throat plate. tried the tension instructions over and over, then tried changing the bobbin tension and still no luck. Now can't even do a thread tension test. My machine will not stitch at all. I've screwed it up terribly! Sent pictures to tech support 2 days ago and still no help. I ordered a new bobbin case hopefully it will work for me. 3 days i'm down. I think I got bad digitizing fonts.
Just got my machine in October … where is the tension test file I can't see it in the drive that came with the machine. Also do you change tension for 3D Puff embroidery ?

Hello Laura, I just purchased a Ricoma MT 1501 and I keep getting thread tails every time there's a color change or when there is a cut and tie then start up of the same color in a different spot of the same design. Any help? These tails are after the color has been in use.

I'm confused which knobs are for the top and the bottom tension. 🤔 are the ones at the very top for top tension and the ones more in the middle of the machine (gray tops) for the bottom tension ?
Hi there, thanks so much for watching. This is a great question to ask in our Facebook support group, Embroidery and Custom Apparel Mastery. If you want to run a small tension test, only select the colors you want to test. You will need to stop the test when the colors you picked are done. Or you can program a pause in the test once it gets to the last color.
I have been running 40# thread on all needles without issues. I put 60# thread on needle #11 with a 60/8 needle and am experiencing bad looping. I can only assume the 60# thread requires more tension??? Any advice?
If you have a multi-needle machine, you will have answers for each needle regarding tension. Newer machines actually have the I test in the built-in designs! Look for a series of capital letter “I” in a row, and that is your eye test. If you don’t have it built into your machine, you can use your software to stitch out a few I’s to make this work.

That's the way to go! It's important to test the designs to ensure they stitch out correctly (:
love the videos!! I test tension every monday!
Excellent video, how I test my tension is I look after something is stitched out and then adjust accordingly,
If the bobbin thread is only showing on the top of one or two colors would that be top tension too tight?
It might because the tension is too loose.
Thank you that was very interesting to learn, all I need to do is buy a Ricoma Embriodery machine in Perth now lol

How to run a tension test of only 5-6 threads?

What do the bottom tension knobs do?
The bottom tension knob is for minor tension adjustments, and top is for major tension adjustments.
where can I find how to run the tension test?

Why does the thread keep pulling out the needle?
That’s called a thread pull out and is usually caused after a trim because the thread tension is too tight
Waoh thanks for for response. Have been facing the same problem.
What are the middle bottoms for
Hey there what do you mean by "the middle bottoms"?
Hello. Please tell me where can i download an I test for ricoma?
