    I have been getting comments about the Check engine light. It stays on for up to 30 seconds as it runs self diagnostics then turns off. Look a few seconds later and see it went out. Also, Peterbilt has been running a large stand-up sleeper in prior models. Peterbilt brought over 400 owner/operators to help design this sleeper version. It does have similar traits to the Kenworth with direct input from you guys thus the table being removed. Hope this helps everyone! Have a great weekend.

      What did they design? It's identical to the 2016 I'm in now, except mine is a mid-roof. Same cabinets without any real storage, and same really really REALLY small fridge with a cigar box sized freezer. The only thing I see different is the pull-out workstation in front of the passenger seat. Don't get me wrong, I like my truck, but while it's got a great ride, the storage/sleeper area leaves a lot to be desired.

    I have been looking at this. Are the drive axles further apart then they use to or are may eye playing tricks on me. They look about 5 inches more distance between them. Witch would make it harder to handle on icey roads when it comes to turning. Truck have really come a long ways in the last 50 or so years from the 180 Cummins. Hit a long grade with a heavy load and at the top you would be rocking back and fore in the seat when you were in you last gear and down to 7 to 800RPM just praying it make it over the top. IF YOU WERE RUNNING down the road and happen to get 70 mph out of it. You could bring it to a complete stop long side the road put back in gear it would take close to a half hour to stop it and get it back to 70mph and that would be at 2450 to 2500 rpm we ran a 4:11 to a 4:44 gear in the rearends and these old thing when pulling a hill you had to keep a close eye on water temp and pyro meter so you did not melt the pistons and there was no oil coolers on them no A/C and dam little heat in the winter. So don't bitch about the trucks because most of you if you had to drive on of this old bastard you would last about 5 miles and bring it back and take your stuff and go home. In 50 years and 7 million mile you have seen it all and heard it all. When you think you have mastered a truck go home and stay there. Over confidence will get someone killed every time.

    thats funny seeing PACCAR parts on a truck. didnt know they put their name on parts. i live near them. i see their drivers everyday buzzing all around town aimlessly. must be nice working for PACCAR. probably one of the few 8hr/day trucking jobs around where you get to sleep in your own bed each night and not have to be working late hours. all of their trucks seem to be brand new and smooth as butter. they seem to have very little impact on my area. never heard anyone mention them and not one complaint, yet you cant drive through town without seeing at least one of their trucks. very good drivers best i can tell.

    You really should’ve opted for the TV mounting rather than the window. The drawer style refrigerators generally have more room.

    Why a fuel thirsty performance series instead of the X15E 500/1850?
    That killed it for me, it's supposed to be a fuel mileage Aero truck... Bunk looks awesome though

      You make a great point Charles. Unfortunately, I did not spec the truck and I would have made that very recommendation as well. Very insightful comment. I am always happy to spec and order the truck exactly as you wish. Sometimes when stocking trucks, consumer feedback opts for Performance series trucks in the Colorado area. Great feedback and thanks for watching!

      E series is trash, with all sorts of nonsense in the ECM, like coasting, forcing you to upshift in certain gears at 1300 rpms, we drove one of these and the next week drove one that wasn't E series, it ran faster, let you shift at any rpm you wanted and GOT BETTER FUEL MILEAGE.

    • @100pyatt
      @100pyatt 5 лет назад +3

      @@christopherbrooker1887 That's ignorance Chris. Those are all customer parameters that can be set... If you're a company driver that's another story as they will be the only one that controls the settings.
      The transmission alone has a ton of shift programs the dealer can program in addition to eco coast enabled or not, parameters for upshift and downshift, engine rpm and torque limits at various situations, gears, speeds, etc etc etc etc

    • @christopherbrooker1887
      @christopherbrooker1887 5 лет назад

      Customers aren't smart enough to ask for all that nonsense, motor is still trash, as I said, we got better fuel mileage, pulled harder, ran faster than efficiency series. I will never drive that crap again, but will continue to blow their doors off, and get better mileage doing it

    • @100pyatt
      @100pyatt 5 лет назад +3

      @@christopherbrooker1887 Well you can't fix stupid. And nothing wrong with having options in software! You only drove a X15E that some moron messed with the parameters.
      ... The key is you can spec right or compete crap. You can take a good motor and make it run like crap with a moron that shouldn't be programming the customer parameters for anyone.
      Pulling;
      X15P 505/1850 doesn't pull any harder than X15E 500/1850... actually less with performance series if you are comparing same Tq motor, apples to apples the efficiency series pulls peak Tq down to 1,000 rpm vs 1,150 before falling off.
      * Now, get the X15P 565/2050 or 605/2050 and that baby will run!
      Efficiency;
      X15E will be better every time, apples to apples because of the better software and more efficient hard components like pistons, cam, turbo.

    Are all disk brakes a good thing compared to air brakes?

    • @jmowreader9555
      @jmowreader9555 5 лет назад

      Boone, these are air disc brakes. There are good and bad to them.
      Good:
      shorter stopping distance
      faster brake cooling
      quicker to change pads than to change drum brake shoes
      they adjust themselves
      Bad:
      100 pounds per axle heavier and $1000 pounds per axle more expensive
      Some trucking companies are staying with drum brakes because drum brakes always worked before. And that's fine. Problem is, the government is trying to pay for Trump's tax cut by fining the shit out of truck drivers, and the easiest way to hit a guy with the Fine From Hell is to look at his slack adjusters. Discs are ALWAYS in adjustment. That's by design. I think by 2025 drums won't even be an option for Over the Road trucks, and a lot of vocational trucks will be using them too. They're already standard on garbage trucks.

    Did I see right that a upper bunk is required and not a option to have cabinets instead of an upper bunk, plus is the visor designed as an airplane wing and creates lift? Creates suction does not sound right. My 579 anniversary edition sucks and is a POS but that is a diff story.

    That passenger seat should be optional. You could get a dinette table into these trucks without that there. Put the fridge in place of the seat, and the table in place of fridge. Or use the fridge top as part of the table.

    I'm in one of these except mine has the 12 speed auto. The sleeper is very spacious and the built-in factory fridge stays cold unlike those cheap 12-volt coolers. No complaints other than mine is an auto, no choice with being a company driver. My steer axle is also rated for 13,200 pounds, not sure if that is standard for these trucks or something my company had special ordered.

    • @highlandwinterwolf8589
      @highlandwinterwolf8589 5 лет назад

      Think thats standard, the last company i worked for had the same type setup on the freightliners. Mainly helps to keep us out of a jam when a little overweight on the steer tires. If the suspension is rated above what the weight will be most cops will look the other way. Had that happen twice in the short time i drove otr.
