I'm starting to get the hang of it. This would be good for Okinawan songs like Asadoya Yunta, but don't tell the traditionalists. Only the approved music is allowed.
Hi Colin, great vid. Bought a Vega Old Tyme Wonder a while back to learn Clawhammer. I play Tenor and just fancied a change ! In Between clawhammer exercises, when noodling around, I found myself naturally falling into a two finger style, so hope to see more vids in the future
You can use a capo or simply change the tuning to the key that you need. You can use this finger pattern with any tuning, as long as you figure out where the melody notes are.
I first learned this style in Pete Seeger's How To Play The Five String Banjo, in his chapter on double thumbing. Listen to his version of "Darling Corey," or B.F. Shelton's original recording. It's in the book.

I love that style I like how smooth and how laid back it sounds. For me I'm have to play a little softer. Plus I like the more mellow sound.
