I am glad Spyderco came out with these little guys again!
I buy just a couple knives a year at best so its important to me that the purchases I do make is a wise one. I appreciate folks like you taking time to make vids like this. I am amazed at the attention to detail you dedicated knife collectors see. Thanks to videos like this I know will be well informed when I pull the trigger on my next purchase. Thanks.
So glad these little guys got a second chance.very cool and useful knives.Great vid Jimbo!!
And this is why I watch your videos (one of the reasons), to see what has come out in the knife world. Looking forward to the review.
@RedGladius Glad you enjoyed it!
right on! i had no idea these were coming back. i like they came back as G-10.
Hard to say. I like em both, really.
@TheLazySpoiledKitty As do I! But it's nice to have a version of these two that I can actually carry and not worry about losing as I can not replace my CF cat/chicago!! Thanks for watching, Casper!
@KryptKeeper40 Indeed. I love the Chicago. It's one of my favorite work-safe knives and it's just so useful.
Congrats on your new friends! ;-) I'm liking the Chicago. Thx for the discount code too! Great vid, Jimbo.
@MrCleanerNash I agree. It's always been one of my favorite work knives. Thanks for watching MCN.
diggin' the chicago pretty sweet for a mini blade. cool vid bro
@freedoomed Yes you do. And these are a great addition to a Spydie collection!
Great video on those 2 knives. I am not a fan of the tenacious line, so I am with you. I think the choil on the CAT and the blade shape are a huge difference. I think it looks much better that the Ambitious. I own just the Tenacious from the cheap line, and i know what it is to "work" with substandard quality tools(that's what the tenacious is to me). Lillte rambling on, just wanted to say that CAT looks friggin' awesome
@RoscoeBa Thanks so much, Roz! I highly recommend these two to you as I know you'd love em.
@BrianBTV Thank you very much!
@airsoftgunsandknives Thank you. If these sell well (and I am pretty sure they will), don't be surprised if you see Spyderco put out suped up versions of these in either VG-10 or maybe even S30V again. I'm glad I can carry these as an EDC as I don't carry my CF/S30V ones much because of fear of losing them as I can not replace them since they are nearly impossible to get these days.
@0000Fred0000 My pleasure. I'm just glad these vids can help people out. Thanks so much for watching and for the comment.
Awesome! These designs seem pretty interesting. I may just have to pick one of them up ;)
@Jacktheripper2829 Thanks dude. Glad to volunteer the info.
I agree with you about the Spydercos. I've never seen one that wasn't first class.
@Cutlerylover4life1 Excellent question! I may just have to find out.
@EnduringEagle I hear you, dude. Some of my favorite knives are very inexpensive as well. I am a knife collector along with being a user, and to me those are two different things. Thanks for commenting.
I'm glad that Spyderco re-issued the Cat and the Chicago as affordable G10/440C versions. But at the same time I envy you because of your flawless CF originals. ;-)
@SpartanJohns Np dude and thanks for watching and for the comment.
Really like the Chicago. 440C is a good steel and will get the job done. Looks like the the Chicago is actually a little "Ambitious".
I have to order a pair of these. My spyderco collection hasn't grown recently.
@TheMotorick Right on. Thanks for watching.
@bankmind80 I'm sure glad I did :) Thanks for watching, Bank.
Awesome review, I love the look of the ambitious but the cat is alot smarter and looks put together with more thought.
Keep up the good work
Take Care
I wish I would've jumped on the Spyderco Cat when it was the limited Carbon Fiber and S30V steel. Great looking knife.
@JohnWayneColt45 Thanks, JWC45! I also am glad Spyderco put these back out. That's why I had to get some of the first batch!!
I was happy to see that these came out but extremely disapointed when i learned that they werent s30v and carbon fiber!
@MrJimbofox VG-10 would be great, congratulations on getting them.
-Omar
@Chris1992usa Excellent point and thanks for the comment. Let's hope they get it right this time!
@gotcalves Dull as in boring or are you referring to the edge on the blade?
@NJDevilTactical Well thank you very much sir, but, you were the first, so I salute you! Mine was more to show off the new models to those who had been waiting to see em. Not much first impression on this one since I already own both models in the premium versions. I actually enjoyed your video so keep up the great work.
@airsoftgunsandknives Right but it's also like half the price. These were nearly 100 dollars when the CF/S30V versions were out. These are like 40 bucks and have really great G10 handles on them. I agree that I'd rather have say VG-10 on these, and would be willing to pay an extra 10 bucks or so for it. But Spyderco has a solid rep for putting quality heat treatments on their blades. I have little doubt these will be an exception. I'm just glad I can carry these. :)
@Pattas29 Honestly, I think both have their place and are very different for different types of tasks. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
@stschmalhaus Man I saw that one coming :) I figured you'd have a lil "spyder envy" when I whipped out the originals :) I also am glad, Stefan. I think you would really like these little knives. Thanks so much for watching.
I really like the look of the Cat. I have been thinking about getting a Dragonfly 2, but I like the look of the handle of the Cat better. More to hold on to.
@sniperryno Since this was a rather impromptu video, I figured I'd omit the intro and just put this one out there. My intros aren't going anywhere I assure you. Thanks for the knid words and for watching.
Very nice!!! :), i'm so glad these are being made again!!! and in 440c is a first for me too, i need to get one of these someday and try them out. But i love my CF chicago :)
Spyderco should bring back more 440 versions...congrats
I think there were plenty of examples of the original Cat & Chicago that had good to excellent fit & finish. My own examples of each are pretty much like yours. There were, however, complaints made from ELUs about a lack of quality for some that made it out to distribution. I suspect there was also a high (costly) QC failure rate in the factory (never making it to distribution). This may be why the two original knives were discontinued so quickly after introduction.
@EnduringEagle Not really a review, per se, but thank you very much. I like knives that are useful above all. I can appreciate the more premium knives for what they are, but in the end, I buy/carry/like and review knives for the working man -- because that's exactly what I am.
@Probablyshouldnthave It's really all relative. These are 40 dollar knives. You aren't gonna get premium materials at that price. For what they are, I think they are a really great option. If these sell as well as I think they will, don't be shocked if Spyderco brings out a premium version. Thanks for watching.
@INFIDELxSTRONG I totally agree and thanks so much. Glad to pass on the info.
@MrJimbofox I get that and that is what I like. A real world point of view. Many of these YT reviewers buy knives that are hundreds of dollars and they never see that light of day. My best EDC is a $20 Kershaw that has a frame lock, flat grind, G10 and is CrMov steel. Takes a wicked edge, locks tight and is cheap. I whomp on it all the time and it keeps going. My ZT knife is hardly ever used. other than being cool I really don't know why I bought it.
@gotcalves Ah lol ok. Yeah. Honestly I think it was more the package than anything else. That type of wrapping is pretty sticky. The knife itself has a decent edge on it but I'm sure could use a small touch up.
Pretty close to the same, honestly.
@EnduringEagle I agree, however, to me the chicago is just a baby "cat". Or were you making a double entendre on "ambitious"? :)
I think I might get the cat.
@fredde90210 I agree. Thanks for watching!
@Probablyshouldnthave I hear you, man. Like I said below in another comment, I woulda paid 10 more dollars each for say VG-10 steel on these two. But again, don't be surprised if we see a premium version of these come out in the not-too-distant-future. I know a lotta guys out there that want these, so demand will be high. High demand means Spyderco will want to put out additional models for us knife fanatics.
@guitarmikey2 You really have to pick em up to appreciate how awesome they really are, sir. I highly recommend these to you. Thanks for watching.
@Daninja42 The title you see is not the original title. I changed it after the fact.
Great vid as always, but where's the intro. You have the best intro on RUclips. Also it let's me know the I am watching a jimbo vid.
@buckster2424 No problem. Thanks for watching.
@MrJimbofox the zombies, after you reposition them.
which do you like better?
@starcraftluver62 Jimping is a bit overrated IMO. However, I did find the jimping on the underside of the original cat/chicago actually kinda useful.
@apophysis7 Thanks for watching, Kirk!
@edgedweapon88 Same here! Hopefully they are here to stay!
@MrJimbofox Sorry bout that...
440C? DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
Big question- Does the new Spyderco Cat model with G-10 have a jimped thumb ramp, like you have with your standard Enduras or Delicas?
@MrJimbofox yeah i see where spiderco is going here but I beleive these knives retailed for about $60 for the originals with the carbon fiber and upgraded steel, and they had so much more coolness. Lets face it these are knives that are going to get light edc use or office use which we all have a ton of other knives for to pay an extra $20 for a knife that is dressed up in asuit is tootally worth it to me if I am going to be carrying something in a formal situation like a wedding or to a buis
@MrJimbofox LOL it's just A downgrade from S30V down to 440C is kinda a bummer... it still is a cool blade.
-Omar
@CanadianPatriot86 Ah, ok. Gotcha.
@MrJimbofox Both actually... Great review! I really like how you keep it real and keep the snobbery out of the reviews. Your a good man Charlie Brown.
Do those zombies fit over shotgun shells
@Troop66Guide I agree he was being obnoxious but no need for a dispute here, guys. Let's try and keep the comments relevant to the video topic, but thanks for watching.
@buckster2424 If you'd bother to watch to the end, you'd have your answer.
price????
@bigbubba5037 You won't be disappointed. Quality is great.
Um... I had it figured out :) I read the title XD
@MrJimbofox i know i posted it before i saw it and i didnt know how to delete it sorry about that
@newtubetubetube Um, ok?
@CanadianPatriot86 Looks like who is giving who a hj?
@airsoftgunsandknives Less homophobic, but still totally obnoxious. What is wrong with 440C?
