I wanna make a cool travel video so when I'm 80 I can watch it and say "Yeah. You lived a little."
I'm with you - same for me! Hopefully I can make it to 80!!!
That's kinda beautiful
Awesome tips for sure!
1. Find your style (360 all the time, or slow motion for example)
2. Select your shots, think about how you want to shoot and utilize the footage first, and stay steady
3. Bridge the gap (what’s the story in your travel vlog?)
4. What will save you the most time: use a timer in editing your videos!
💯
haha, oh shit, nailed it. this video says nothing.
what do you mean by timer in editing videos??
Moorissa Meritseba Tjokro what app do you usually use to edit your videos?
thank you!
Mate not filming everything is by far the most important tip! Travel filmmakers can easily get lost in forgetting to actually be present and travel. There's certain times when batteries are flat and when your gear isn't around you, and I think that happens for a reason! No need to rush back and get another camera, just leave it and live out the adventure! The right moments will present themselves to be on! and you're camera will be there. Thanks for sharing Thomas, love your work
probably used a few too many exclamation marks above, sorry for being passionate :)
I just love traveling new places and I want to share my experiences with others .
I just quit my job as analyst at a bank. I spent the last 10 years there while making some extra money on the side as a local musician. Now I'm moving to Thailand in two months. I enjoy the beauty of any creative process; whether it's song writing, drawing, catching a good photo, or video editing. My goal is to make creativity my life. I hope that some day I can make a career out of putting together moments that can touch people's emotions.
Hi Eric, just read your post now and wondering on how you are finding your new adventure!
All the best....hope u r getting along just fine
That's awesome!
Awesome! Good for you. Go to the Philippines. You will surely fall in love with the place. "Tao Philippines"
Well wishes from Canada! 😀
I want to materialize memories in someway, to keep emotions and breathtaking views on camera. And after years I can see the wonderful adventures I had. I can show them to my kids. I can inspire other people to travel and exprece themselfs.
Thank you for your amazing tips and work :)
Vasilena Pavlevcheva yes I love that! That’s why I’m starting now
I am From India I also think like you about my kids so i can say him that your father is a stud .🤣
Thank you for your tips. I agree with you.
Me too
These tips are so solid man. We all appreciate the content you're putting out there for us. Keep it up man! Cheers.
My motivation: I love filming, I love traveling, I love editing So all together a travel video haha
Traveling to Indonesia tomorrow, want to capture some moments and make a beautiful travel diary full of memories
Oh Gawd...You just described everything I did on a 34 day trip in the north of Australia. I wish I'd seen your videos before I started that trip. EVERYTHING you said to do was what I didn't do. Cheers Thomas for awesome advice. 😊
This was super motivating. I love capturing the small every day moments while I'm traveling. I think there's something really beautiful about it, and it makes me happy that I can share those moments through my footage with people, and maybe even inspire them to travel to a place so they can experience what I saw
Our motivation is exactly what you mentioned. We have jobs that don't tap into our creative side and making travel videos is one way to get that part of our brain going. Thanks for all your super useful tips.
As a landscape and travel photographer, I create videos on location to inspire people to grab their camera and get out and shoot photos. I’m doing this to share the stories behind my images and build a community of like minded creatives. Awesome tips here Thomas, I do many of them but the bonus tip of time boxing the editing is one I’m going to try and do for my next video, cheers mate!

Valeria Sotnykova ikr that’s what I was thinking
Exactly, he keeps talking

Thank you very much. I'm learning a lot from your videos. I'm lucky to found you! Keep going! 👍❤
Also I loved your third tip!! Listening to music while you shoot is SO SO SO helpful!!
You need to make more videos man, I've learnt so much from you. I'm going on a trip soon and will apply the principles I have learnt from you and hopefully come up with something decent.
Good stuff thanks bro really like the timer idea
I love this in so many ways! You've hit it right on the bullseye. Thanks so much for always making quality content!!!
Probably the best video I've seen on starting out with travel video! Brief, relevant, articulate and accurate!!! Thank you!
As an aspiring travel vlogger, I want to share my story while traveling around the world.
You and me both!
Hey Thomas, thank you for your tips. My motivation is, that while editing it feels like I am on vacation again. I love it and its a fun and relaxing time for me :-) Best regards and safe travels, Stefan
I am an illustrator who had the chance to take two back-to-back trips. Not only did these trips helped me, but they also influenced my art. I want to be able to encourage other artists bogged down by everyday life to get out once in a while and enjoy their surroundings. There's just too little time in this world to look at the world with the same cloudy mindset.
Going cross country and heading to the Caribbean was the best refresher to date.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing 👍 just made my first travel video :) still have a lot to learn, so I'm really grateful for creators like you who share their valuable experience :)
I am traveling to 8 different countries in Europe over the course of five months and I am looking forward to sharing my experience with films!! This vid is great and motivates me even more. thank you :)
Waiting until summer or heading in winter? We can't wait to head that way.
Thomas, you inspired me... I don't have much money to invest, but I love what I do and thank you for showing me what I want for my career my life!Thank you, professor!
Hello The Olli,
If you are looking for some fresh video. We just started a new free, no copyright video channel with 4k footage, Drone and 360º video.
I honestly just want to capture time as it is. I love taking small video clips daily of just random stuff. Whether it's friends chatting on the couch, or just my empty apartment, things change so much and I would like to look back. Same with my travels, I want to remember everything and see and hear my friends and loved ones!
Capturing and making memories and sharing those memories with others
Thank you Thomas 💜

Quality as always Thomas 👍 My reason is to share my story.
Perfect timing! I've been binge watching ur vids cuz I'm about to leave for a vocation and am planing to make a video about it. I've learned a lot from u, keep it up man love ur vids
Orton yeah same here
How'd the video go man?!
Life of Pez got a lot of good feedback but the video got taken down because i used copyrighted music
That sucks dude!! Mind checking out mine?! I think there's a site where you can download music that isn't copyright so you can add cool music to your vids.
Life of Pez id have to start from scratch because my vid was edited to the beats on the song I chose. Yeah sure I'll check out your vid
thank you thomas!
Wow, these are some real PRO tips! Thank you very much for sharing them, Thomas. This helped me a lot. Thumbs up and subscribed ✊
The timer tip is such a good idea!
This is so true. Can't start the edit because I took too much footage with no plans 😅😪 Thank you for the tips 👍🏻😁
Bour Na Chiengmai i do the same 😂
Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions....👍👍🙏🙏
As a new to this field, I just want to say thank you for this 💞 hope to see more of you. Such a great vlogger.
My inspiration is to share my experiences with the people around me
It looks like you filmed this at the pagoda in north London on hampstead heath , never been there but it looks flamiliar some how
I love looking back at the hard work and memory that I made
I'm with you!
Agreed thankyou very much 🙌
Motivation for me: beeing able to see all amazing memories of my trip in a short and simple way (rather than having a thousand photos on ly computer that I never check out)
I went to Cuba back in February, and I recorded hours worth of footage while I was there. I still haven't gotten around to editing a lot though because I feel so overwhelmed with how much footage I have. I'm going to try the "Use a timer" technique, and see if that helps me get through it. Wish me luck! -Michael
Dude, i really like how you talk all about these psychological stuff like being confident and relaxed rather than going pure technical. I think this is the first step to really get someone doing such a cool thing like video editing. Can't wait for my ski trip to France and capture some moments, tho i only have a gopro 6.
Thanks for this video!!
Hey, so I'm just on a trip and I need your help!
After making a few videos I have figured that my films need way more faces. But the problem is should I film myself or just random people around me? Both is not that great I think because if you have a lot of random people you can't really tell a story that's going to be Interessent the whole video but I also have no camera man to film me and the dudes I travel with are not that interested in film so any Tipps?
I'm really struggling with this...
I am leaving my 9-5 job to make travel video. I feel like 9-5 is a prison life and I like traveling and what I always love to do and at the same time if I can make video for youtube that would be great.
MNA Bhuiyan omg best of success!!
Good luck. Follow your heart ❤
you've got courage dude, all the best!
there is a thin line between courage and stupidity, dont cross it.
Thank you for your tips and advice. Thumbs up for your video! Good work
I enjoy showing the world, how each place is unique, different, and beautiful!
I'm studying abroad this summer in Malta and I'm doing a travel journal, so I want to kinda do that same thing with a video
My motivation is my family. I'm in the navy and I know they would love to be with me and since they can't this could help them stay with me even though they aren't actually there with me.

Hey Thomas. I was wondering what's best to use to edit the travel videos?
DaVinci Resolve
Filip Is this a free software without watermarks? And is it any good for beginners? :)
I like traveling and I like making videos that's why I make traveling "Montage" videos ^_^
Subscribed and kept on watching your vids to prepare my 2018 travels!
For the memories and to share my holiday with my family overseas!
I was wondering if anyone has any advise on buying a proper, but cheaper, stabiliser for iPhone 7.. lets say between 50-100 dollars.
Please! What is the song/music at 2:45 (the dog scene?). It is so intimate :)
Did you found the song Buddy ?
Your videos are like a masterclass in travel videos man! You deserve more subs! Thank you so much!
Thanks so much man! Helped me out a lot. Can't wait to make my first video
FIRST!!!

Hello guys, İ would like to start recording travel videos, but İ do not know what kind of camera to buy. Could you give me an advice?
A Go Pro is great for travel videos, it's small & portable, water proof, and good quality!!
I use a canon g7x!! Not waterproof but gives a ton of flexibility on the shots you want to get with the settings. And small and compact to carry around. Plus it has a viewfinder!
Thanks for the video., definitely taking it on board with my next video!
Thank you so much! I will be doing lots of travel videos when I go for a semester abroad and these tips really helped me. :)
What was the music you used with the shots with the dog
Lewis Francis also wanna know the name of the song 😫
Samuel Kowalski I can't find it anywhere😩
Lewis Francis did you found it bro ?
Ecepta - Baby (from description)

Hey buddy, Did you found it ?
You tube audio library ,in creater tab
Love love love your videos 😍
Good tips, thankyou.
Any good edit programs to edit your travel video for free on a windows pc?
DaVinci Resolve. Will change your life.
DaVinci Resolve it’s really powerfull and there is a free version which has all the features you need unless you want to do really advanced stuff
Carlo Marzan I was going to ask the same!
I WILL NOT LEAVE A COMMENT!!
LOL😜
My main motivation for making travel videos is because I want to motivate others to travel and see the world. I want them to see how awesome different cultures and other people are. So that they can see were not really all that different.
Thank you as always 💕
Get chicks.
thank you thomas for inspiring me to keep doing what i like! I just posted a new travel video and im trying everyday to improve my editing skills, so if u have a minute check out my content and let me know your honest opinion :)

thank u so much!
wow you really gave some great advice! thank you so much!
Thank you for all of the tips!
Great tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
I create travel videos as my own virtual diary. I have my written diary with my thoughts, feelings and memories while my travel videos help me really reply and relive those moments. The two combined will help me never forget how lucky I am
I’m glad I watched this. I have an overseas trip coming up this weekend. Great 👍🏾 and simple tips to use. I didn’t know that there are specific styles for shooting. Editing while shooting is very important! It allows you to stick to a vision and review what you’ve shot so far! Why didn’t I come across these sooner to use in my channel?
Hi. I find your videos are very helpful! I learned a lot and yes I am about to start making vidoes of traveling. I've been watching tremendous amount of beautiful traveling videos and I want to make them too. The reason why I want to make these videos is to share my point of view in life with my own experiences. Good vibes are contagious, spread it. That's my motto!🙌🏼
