Of the fashion industry experts who have this type of awareness almost all of them talk about women’s fashion - if not all. This is the first one I’ve heard who speaks about menswear.

Have you noticed how billionaires dress? Hint: it’s not like a James Bond, tailored luxury wardrobe. They wear poorly-fitting suit jackets, usually over a t-shirt. Plus most of them have cheap-looking hair cuts. I can’t figure it out. If I had unlimited money, I’d get bespoke clothes that fit perfectly.
KK and FF had a chance to ask more about what people can do to improve their fashion sense etc. missed opportunities for them to grow the conversation in a more interesting and less predictable way.

Is a guest worth having on again! Fantastic chat fella's. I loved it!
Am far, far away from being a fashion conscious person, but I always note Jordan Peterson’s attire, i.e., it draws my attention. And this interview guest is the reason why. Yeah, he’s competent.
This is another way of saying 'lived experience', which is not what it is made out to be because we ALL HAVE IT. It's the degree of introspection and critical thinking that is brought to our experience that matter.
I was going to pass up this interview, but what an unexpected great surprise. I loved it!!!!! Please bring more unexpected interviewees. This just might be what sets you apart from the rest.
I had this playing in the background while I was browsing the internet, not paying much attention at first. But as the conversation unfolded, it became increasingly fascinating. This person is packed with knowledge, offering insights that combine facts, data, and a psychological perspective. What an outstanding interview-absolutely captivating and entertaining!

You’ve had luminaries in many disciplines on your show. True geniuses, policymakers etc. I think this is my favorite episode. You interviewed a tailor. And it was the most enlightening thing ever.
Current Australian Prime Minister is so similar to her.....we are been trampled on.....his Foreign Minister is just as blind. Goodluck with your recovery 😊
Unfortunately, she grew in a certain soil, and that soil keeps producing more of the same. A sympathy from Canada. Not as extreme, but the same script.
NZ was a test case - with a view to do it to the entire developed world. And a female puppet seems less threatening than a male. Women in power are no less brutal, if not more. It's the ultimate bait and switch.
On the surface, this appeared to be a frivolous topic, but I found this conversation fascinating! Love a man in a well-fitted suit! ❤I know I always look first at how someone is dressed....I come from an era when we had to wear our best clothes to the doctor's - showing respect.
The problem with most women who choose to wear a suit is that they don't get them to fit properly. The only woman I've seen recently in a well-fitting suit that is flattering rather than hiring her femininity is Melania Trump. Beautiful suit on an admittedly great model.
All suits look wrong on all women, by definition. It's like saying, 'some men look good in dresses'. No. The closest we have would be female riding clothing, but that's not a suit in any real sense. Even traditional female military clothing had skirts. There's a reason suits don't fit women: they were made for men, the male form/body, and for male purposes. That's why women always wear them too big with massive shoulder pads, as to display 'power' or whatsoever. It has failed for over 60 years now. The future won't improve in this regard; in fact, the West might be completely different in 60 years, as the data indicates.
People like Melania and Princess Catherine have a seamstress on their payroll to do tailoring and bespoke clothing. Even if they buy RTW they have someone on staff altering it.
@MCharlesPainting I agree with what you say. However, I gave Mrs. Trump as my example of a woman wearing a woman's suit, i.e. with a skirt, not trousers. Mrs Thatcher wore the same type of suit, and it took nothing away from her femininity or power.
Listening to him jump from history to physics to math to politics to fashion is utterly fascinating. Such a pleasant surprise compared to the boring stereotypical Project Runway types that are all 💅 and no depth.
My two sons faces light up and they stand tall with self confidence when they put on their suits. It doesn’t compare when they put on their superhero costumes. Love this session, so interesting, thank you.
Anecdotal, I know, but what I've come to notice in these last couple of years or so, is that the fashion trends I mostly see when out in public are those mainly bordering on pure slothfulness. Especially so - but not exclusive to being - in the 20 and under lot. A lot of unkempt looks. Fucking giant goofy PJ's and onesies even! There's just this general vibe of "I just woke up well past noon and can not even be bothered to make an effort", while at the same time mixed with this weird aire of unwarranted confidence. It's sorta baffling to be quite honest. I'm not asking people to dress to the nines when just going to a public place like a mall, as an example, but at the very least, at least go out looking like something that's somewhat self-respectful at the most, possibly a potential adult, and not unemployable at the very least.
Absolutely correct! Even at the airport where you would expect business men in suits this is now a rare sight. Business dress has devolved into jeans and a polo with a logo.
For decades, we’ve had season tickets to the premier theatre of the City… … & it grates on my nerves in how some fellow ‘theatre goers’ dress like SLOBS… COMPLETE SLOBS… I don’t wear a suit, but I do dress nicely in respect for the event. These SLOBS get upset when getting withering looks from people like me… … even though their ‘attire’ is so ‘FUCK YOU’… I wouldn’t even go to the corner store in looking such a SLOB… Of course, flying commercial nowadays is another affront… on many levels.
New Zealander here ... Ardern does not have an empathetic bone in her body - she now lives overseas because is considered a hair away from dictatorship and is no longer wanted here
This is a delightful episode! I didn't expect the philosophical, cultural and political points that came up in the discussion. I'll be listening to this one again.
This interview/discussion makes me so happy, you have no idea. Clothes make the man. You dress for the position that you want. A suit, a well tailored suit, is your suit of armor.
Im no feminist but I must disagree to say females in power can dress well in tailored suits. Margaret Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II, both dressed well. Their accessories were also often seen as symbols of power. Such as structured handbags, jewellery, earrings, and broaches, all statement pieces that added an air of authority. Thatcher also took us through the Falklands war.
The queen made a point of wearing a countries national colour whenever visiting as a sign of respect. I think starting an interaction with a show of respect was a very savvy political manoeuvre over her lifetime.
Imagine Queen Elizabeth the 1st showing up on the beach on horseback in full armor on the channel beach to rally the troops against the Spanish Armada. Defeat simply wasn't a possibility. Men know what is important and what is not.
Wow! this person came straight out of left-field (baseball metaphor, not political left field) and delivered one of the sharpest interviews ever on your program. Thanks for an enlightening Trig episode, and invite this guy back regularly.
I was hesitant to watch given my inadequacies in fashion, and now want Dimitry to design me my first tailor made suit. Great guest guys! Such insight to cultural human behavior and thought.
I really enjoyed this guest. For the past 15 years, I have really become more aware of what slobs Americans have become insofar as what we wear in public. Yes, it is easier and more comfortable, but I long to experience the days that my parents tell me about, when people dressed in their best clothing to go shopping downtown and to go to the movies. I was struck while watching a docuseries about baseball in the U.S. to notice what nice clothes were worn by the spectators in the stands. Certainly, I don’t have the money for a suit by Dimitry, and that’s ok. But when I shop for women’s clothing, I am dismayed at the poor quality, the sloppiness, the skankiness, etc. Even looking for jeans, I am disheartened. I want 100% cotton jeans (heavy denim - not cheapo thin denim) with a high rise and a slim leg (think Gloria Vanderbilt) and a dark rinse that has no tears, no fake fades, no “whiskers”. Cannot find such a pair. I want affordable women’s clothing that is structured and durable and feminine. While I try to find vintage items online, most are too small for me. It is a real shame. While I love my jeans and t-shirts (which I wear nearly all the time), I would love to class it up. It does make you feel different. It also demonstrates respect for the people around you. I am thrilled to hear Dimitry say that men’s suits are taking on a ‘50s style. I love it.
Women should care primarily how clean and modest they appear. Men should care primarily how well clothes facilitate productivity. When these get confused there is some kind of physical and/or psychological disorder at play.
This is by far the most intellectually colorful fashion designer I've ever heard. Yes that's probably a small set of people haha but still, this dude is cool AF.
People tell me I’m always dressed up. I’m not. It’s just people are used to dressing way too sloppy. Fast fashion is a huge problem. Clothes are made cheaply and don’t not fit. I have slob clothes. I wear them at home.
This is me also! I don’t have a ton of money, but I try to buy nice clothing rather than fast fashion! It lasts longer and looks better. I don’t go out in Jammie’s or sweats ever.
Wearing sweatpants and fleece tops is an age thing. Most people under 25 won’t dress up to go out to Tesco or to a restaurant. They put comfort first and arguing against that makes one seem superficial.
@ Oh, I’ve dressed and been this way since I was a teenager. In fact, in high school friends would often comment that I was over dressed. And I grew up in extreme poverty so this wasn’t based on social class. It was more a way to attempt to move up the social hierarchy, which at that time probably backfired as I looked different than everyone else my age. But it stuck, and I’ve been this way ever since (I’m 37 now). And, it’s my preference for other folks I see in public. Preferences are allowed.
I work at a factory so obviously I dont dress nice on workdays. One night I went into the gas station across the street from my job with my hair curled dress nice and the guy behind the counter was floored. 😅 He was like "You look so different!" It is nice to have people think you look good BUT dressing up even half the time is a thing that people with nice office jobs can do. Us grunts that do manual labor might as well not.
As a woman, and this goes for women's pants and fitted skirts in general, I feel like off the rack suits are designed for US size 0-4 models who have more of an athletic build and then they just make them bigger. Not everyone has that body shape. I was so excited that they came out with curvy dress pants & jeans because I could actually find pants that fit me correctly. But now they claim curvy = fat, which isn't necessarily the case, and now curvy cuts are disappearing again. We just have more curvy proportions like the Marilyn Monroe figure. It's more of an hour glass figure. Those of us who don't have a fortune to spend on tailored suits are frustrated because manufacturers don't account for this body type. So shopping for clothes is a nightmare. Buzzfeed has a video called "Curvy Girl Problems" that humorously shows what we go through. Your company would make a fortune if you designed more women's suits for the curvy figure. You mentioned that the 1950s styles are coming back, so they gives me hope because curvy fashions for women were in style.
I know it sounds glib to say learn to tailor your own clothes but I highly recommend it. It’s easier than ever now with YT how to videos. If it’s really not possible then find a seamstress who can do alterations. Clothing companies want to sell as many units as possible and they are not about making each woman look great. They go with baseline fit of average body type.
That's because pantsuits and suits as a whole are not made for women. They are made for male forms only, and really only work for men (though women have been wearing them for over 60 years now). Of course, jeans were also not made for women in the first place (or even average men), though big sizes for fat men exist, and jeans for all female and male bodies have existed for decades at this point. Or, you can just get them custom-made for relatively cheap -- most very short and very tall people do this, of course. Likewise, most rich people have custom-made clothing, regardless. Then there are the other forms of clothing, of course -- some made strictly for skinny men, or men in general, and with various functions. Nobody claims curvy equals fat, by the way. There are just levels of fatness, health, and acceptance. And in today's culture, people mean 'obese' when they use the word 'curvy' -- this is most heavily the case with online fat models and otherwise. The other term used is 'plus size', which ought to mean 'chubby or slightly fat', but almost instantly meant 'fat to obese', and that's still what it means in 2024. It's used in the real world, but mostly on Instagram and otherwise. Curvy proper = normative/chubby (i.e. slightly fat). This is classically 'perfect' according to the Greeks, Romans, and many others (including Nazis and other more modern groups). Actually, many women today (at least in most Western nations) are beyond curvy, so they're slightly too fat due to lack of physical work and/or bad diets. That would just be 'fat' or 'slightly obese'. The data is very clear on this. America is mostly fat women; England is mostly fat women. The list goes on. 'Curvy' = anywhere from 'chubby' to 'obese'. That's how it's used in our culture; it's not what people claim, it's literally how it's used by obese people themselves, and the entire culture. Normative is 'fat' in some way or another, where 'curvy' is just a polite way of saying 'fat', and a way to market obese clothing and models. Other terms now include 'thicc/thick', 'large/big', 'busty' (which is code for fat in this context, as fat women are often very busty due to fat breast, as opposed to strictly large breasts -- hence, large natural breasts on skinny women is very rare; and there is some Darwinian thinking that large breasts are actually fairly unnatural/modern compared with most women throughout history), and 'plus size'. The actual scale might be something like: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. 1 = sub-normative or 'ideal' fat (Greek-style 'curvy' or 'ideal woman') 2 = normative fat/curvy proper (slightly fat, but not 'too far' -- and implies that the 'fat is in the right places' and 'good genetics' -- i.e. ideal woman in general, as opposed to just 'slightly fat'. You can be slightly fat or not fat and also not actually curvy) 3 = normative fat (slightly fat, but not 'too fat' or 'obese' -- not curvy/ideal, but very common and normative) 4 = fat (i.e. slightly obese, but not very unhealthy, or early death. Depends on exact person. Very common today, but mostly abnormal) 5 = obese (i.e. innately unhealthy, many health issues, hyper-fat, and likely to die before age 50; abnormal in almost all cases) 6 = extremely obese and beyond Note: It's difficult and unhealthy to get pregnant at 3-5. As a general matter, northern peoples (white and some Chinese and Japanese) are fat due to cold climates. Southern people (most Africans, Arabs, and others) are skinny due to warm climates. However, this is relatively messed up today due to diets, massive movements of groups and races around the planet, and lifestyle changes over the years. Nonetheless, it does mean that northern Russian people, if given proper food, are fairly fat -- but in a fairly natural, healthy manner. On the other hand, if a black guy from Central Africa or such is obese, this is innately unhealthy unless something is going on with his genetics, as he's not meant to be fat at all. (Of course, many Western Russians are skinny due to lack of food and lifestyle, or due to living in warmer climates way down in the south-west.) '0' in this range would be the 'skinny' range, of course -- often deemed unhealthy and less than ideal. In the lower range, it actually means 'will die soon due to lack of food intake'. 7 would be 'fattest person on Earth', so is not worth noting due to such a small sample size. Of course, certain models and athletes intentionally push themselves to being too skinny for max output. Some of these are slowly killing themselves for this purpose, and others are fairly healthy as their bodies are naturally/genetically made for it (at least, can deal with it). Very few examples of people becoming obese for valid reasons, such as sports (assuming the aforementioned are valid reasons). Of course, the 'skinny model' is not a valid reason according to Greek thought, as it's not the ideal range. But it seems to be ideal for selling clothing and maybe artistic reasons in terms of fashion. (Of course, since 1 and even 2 are heavily based on genetics, where fat is placed on the body, etc., it's impossible to enforce -- you're either born that way, or you must fake it with implants, which is the go-to method these days, to varying degrees. It's all about hip-to-waist ratio. Men can detect the ideal hip-to-waist ratio on women within a millimetre or something. Very good detection system for such vital considerations. Women do the same for men, but waist-to-shoulder width ratio. Bodybuilders aim, or used to aim, for this ideal male form. However, here the Greeks and others weren't quite as extreme.) Note that women have fat in different places compared with men, and women ought to be a bit fatter than men in general, so a direct sex-based comparison is unwise.
I know exactly what you mean, I can wear a lot of clothes but I don’t own that much that actually fits me. I’ve had a bit more luck in the last few years, I’m more of an outdoors scruff ball and getting back into climbing I discovered that the trousers, due to needing a much greater range of movement than normal clothes accommodate a proportionately big butt and small waist. For years I’ve altered my clothes but it is very time consuming!
I wear a suit and tie to work every day with a nice colorful tie. I’ve always been a leader and not follower and I don’t do yoga pants, track suits or hoodies. I am former military and it shows. I have a lot of pride in my work, in myself, which has led to a very successful. There are very few of us out there…

Diana Vreeland who died in 1989 said, “Fashion is part of the daily air and it changes all the time, with all the events. You can even see the approaching of a revolution in clothes. You can see and feel everything in clothes.”
i was so heartened by the range of this conversation and most especially by the genuine laughter at being cancelled for the female race 'stuff'! such a breath of fresh air that this was laughable in a way not long ago would have been more scary than laughable. all the best with what is changing. everything changes! with peace, respect, love and exuberant joy. 🙏❤🧘♂🙌☯🙌🧘♂❤🙏
I worked in high end retail for many years. My conclusion is that clothing is an extension of the individual. Put two identical well fitted outfits for two individuals and one may look like a million dollars whilst the other looks like he’s wearing a bargain basement outfit. It’s about having a look that blends and amplifies the individual. Whatever that may be….
Agreed. Fashion is art and an expression of many things from how they feel and personality. If someone wants to brighten moods they will wear cheerful pastel colors and whimsical styles
Dimitri needs to watch The Expanse to see what feminine power dressing should look like. The actress who plays the head of the UN with the husky voice plays a female leader perfectly and the costume department did a fantastic job
Wow, this convo was quite good. Almost didn't watch, but glad I did with a lot of interesting perspectives. Good job Triggernometry and especially the guest!
27:00 Profound, had me thinking about Tulsi Gabbard, because we see her in feminine dress, and we see her in military garb. With her grey highlight stripe, and method of accounting, she has a feminine and masculine and an appearance of wisdom.
I have noticed Jordan Peterson's awesome suits. They really make him stand out. Nice to see the person behind them, plus I learned a new word...haberdash.
Didn't think this.episode would be my thing, but i enjoyed it immensely! That's why it's always worth it to give people a chance and try new things! This guy is pretty fascinating!
I went to midnight mass last night. The vast majority of people across all ages were dressed for comfort. It was an array of sweatpants, padded jackets and jeans with the odd Christmas jumper. If he thinks people are going to revert back to sharp suits, full skirts and winklepicker shoes I don't think anyone has gotten that memo yet.
Might not be a majority view to wear such clothing right now but it's certainly something I wish to do in the new year. Dressing well has become a rebellious thing to do like the punk movement was back in the 1970s in the UK.
I think it depends on where you live and what your church is. I went to mass on Christmas eve and most people were actually well dressed. I didn't see anyone in sweats. I had a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and I think I was the worst dressed person there.
@@TheRetroGamingKid Good for you. My parents were teds. I grew up going to rock n roll revival dances and everyone in suits and full skirts. I loved it. Suits don't necessarily calm things down or stop division (note the notorious mods and rockers fighting) but someone definitely holds themselves differently in a suit to sweatpants.
This is a truly fascinating, thoughtful discussion that brings in elements of design at its core, including its purpose and potential impact, history from many vantage points, and politics as it relates back to the topics at hand. An enthusiastic round of applause for this ultra-talented and well-spoken guest, Dimitry Toukhcher! And a sincere well done to the hosts, Konstantin and Francis, who asked relevant, thoughtful questions and offered their views without overstepping or shutting down a lively conversation; thank you!
As a woman, a pantsuit (specifically) tells me someone is trying to reject their femininity. I'm not a fashionista at all, but I like classic lines, so I think a "power suit" for women is a pencil skirt or tailored skirt (flush with the knee) with a crisp blouse and some sort of wrist jewelry and a necklace with a modest sparkle. If necessary, a tailored jacket. Or, a dress with structure to the shoulders and lapel and tailored waist and skirt. I don't want to see women "showing some flesh" and I don't think that's necessary. There's a difference between beautiful and "hot." One is appreciation, one is dismissal.
In my experience, a skirted suit or dress with a jacket can be powerful while retaining femininity in a controlled way. Pantsuits can come across as ‘pretending to be a man’ attire. Pantsuits, generally speaking, are not designed for the average female figure - they are designed for the male body type.
This is one of the best episodes so far IMHO! It made me think and assess my current experience, productivity, responsibilities and take a harder look at myself than I wanted to. Thank you so much! Amazing guest, fantastic and inspiring convo! 👏👏👏
Happy for the vibe shift. Troubled at the synthetic nature of this seemingly coordinated clothing change coming down from on high to indicate said "vibe shift".
I had always wondered what was up with Peterson's suits. This is an interesting conversation, but I will have to watch this guys videos to see if I agree with his suit philosophy. I've thought Peterson's suits made him look more like a Batman villain than a respectable psychologist and pseudo-Dad on the internet.
How I've clothes shopped for 45 years: go in cheapest store with decent quality, find clearance rack, find my size, if price $10 or more buy 1, if price $4 to $10 buy 2, if price $1 to $3 buy 100...done How I've dressed for 45 years: climb out of bed, reach in drawers and grab item on top, grab from first hanger and pull down, put on clothes, go to restroom, turn on lights, shave...done
This was absolutely fascinating and a little vindicating. As a (very) small business owner, I had to both teach about and sell my products. I was taught to wear a skirt suit (as opposed to a pants suit) if possible because that projected the image of being a serious business owner. I didn't quite get it at first, but I started noticing that when I did, people responded to me differently. I was given more respect, and they paid closer attention to what I was saying, and my sales were higher. No one ever said they were buying more based on my outfit, of course, but I saw the results in my bottom line. Also, when I worked behind a counter in customer service on a department store, people would take me for a manager if I was in a skirt instead of pants. I never made the connection until I started my own business.
Interesting stuff. :D I studied costume design at varsity here in South Africa. Very similar views that I shared with my boyfirend about the trends Ive been seeing in fashion, colours, demeanour in young people etc.
Actually, for women leaders I believe Catherine the great is a much better model. Catherine fought her way to the throne and did not give up being a woman. Elizabeth survived to inherit the throne, admirable as that is, she did not fight for it.
The new summer range for women is a very 60s Twiggy / Breakfast at Tiffany's look! I love it, the dresses are so flattering ❤ Happy Christmas everyone 🎄🎅⚘️✨️🍾
To be fair, men do have a certain power, just as women have sexual power, and are best during wartime. There is an idea that men have the power during peace-time, though that is not so clear today. And for most of history, it's always been wartime, for the most part. Nonetheless, this is general Darwinian thinking: men are high variable, and not quite as valuable. Rather, they have other key functions. This is why men are the lowest and highest IQs, and why they tend to be high risk/high reward; thus, most gamers and gamblers are male. Males are also the best at sports and are puzzle-driven (hence, they like games). There are other key differences and factors -- some claim this makes men better or more powerful or more 'oppressive', too. Feminists, of course, have this issue since they seem to want to be 'just like men' (mins the dying in battle part or cleaning the oil rigs, it seems). Men also die about 7 years before women, but women pretty much have to give birth and so on much earlier. Women are also much weaker than men and have sexual risk to a profound degree. Endless differences, positives and negatives, exist. If we can even really view them in positive and negative terms -- they exist, there is no good or bad. Man is man; woman is woman. This cannot be changed to any notable degree. To the degree we are changing, we are only ensuring that a more stable culture takes over, such as Islam; thus, it's possible we won't even exist in 50 or 100 years at this rate. It's self-defeating to not accept fundamental reality, and adhere to it, for both men and women (of course, this might not strictly mean returning to 1589 or something; after all, the West was doing quite well even as late as 1930. The primary issues are modern, though we might go back to the 1800s or even late 1600s (as Nietzsche did), both for technological and ideological reasons).
Lads, there were words about Golda Meir having state meetings at home and playing the hostes by offering cookies and whatnot to her ministers. Looking back, she's one of the better remembered PMs of Israel.

Did I just learn all that … from “a tailor” ? I am humbled and impressed.
Honestly, this was perhaps your best interview thus far. Well, in my opinion anyway. What a brilliant man!
You know a dude is competent when he see's the world through the lens of his profession.
It's an absolute pleasure to watch intelligent and sensible people chat about complex perceptions. Thanks. Merry Christmas.
All the best for 2025. It’s going to be a great year 😊
Indeed it is my friend @@vancamerawoman7399
Thank you so much for having Dmitry Toukcher on! He's a fascinating, informative, entertaining guest. This is one of my favorite shows ever.
I was going to pass up this interview, but what an unexpected great surprise. I loved it!!!!! Please bring more unexpected interviewees. This just might be what sets you apart from the rest.
Same here
Yet KK shuts it down early because he was peeved about something.
❤ I had noticed JP elegant & creative suits, and now I have the privilege of hearing/meeting their creator. Thank you triggernometry !😊
Was searching for something esoteric to listen to on Christmas, and Triggernometry delivers.
That was such a great show. I was sad when it ended.
go listen to Michael Millerman or read some Leo Strauss, Bap this sh1t isn't that interesting listening to some fashion dude saying " bro we going bak 2 the 50s" LOL
Yeah, and pretty darn interesting too.
This was way cooler than I thought it would be
You’ve had luminaries in many disciplines on your show. True geniuses, policymakers etc.
I think this is my favorite episode.
You interviewed a tailor. And it was the most enlightening thing ever.
Carl Jung said that art predicts the future of culture - so we can maybe group fashion into this category too.
Dimitry Toukhcher is now on my radar. His understand of fashion is on a different level. I learned a lot from listening to his insights.
Absolutely loved Dimitry. This should've been for 2 hours. He had such fascinating insights.
Yes, Joe Rogan would have a great time talking to this guy!
As a New Zealander, Jacinda screwed us all into oblivion. The country has never recovered from the damage she created. I don’t think we ever will.
😮😮😮 what happened down there!? Cheers from the opposite side of the world

Merry Christmas everyone!
What a gorgeous intelligent man. I can see why he is successful. Great show.
On the surface, this appeared to be a frivolous topic, but I found this conversation fascinating! Love a man in a well-fitted suit! ❤I know I always look first at how someone is dressed....I come from an era when we had to wear our best clothes to the doctor's - showing respect.
He's a mess! LOL
Agree, I wear suites and always get it tailored.
In the 50’s men wore suits and women wore costumes!
Fashion is far more than just aesthetics it can communicate so many things. Fashion should be rooted in culture not shallow trends
I never thought I could listen to a tailor talk about fashion for an entire hour and find it fascinating.
Comfort has become king. Hard to argue against it. Trussing yourself up in ungiving and uncomfortable clothes and shoes is a trifle questionable.
For decades, we’ve had season tickets to the premier theatre of the City…
… & it grates on my nerves in how some fellow ‘theatre goers’ dress like SLOBS… COMPLETE SLOBS…
I don’t wear a suit, but I do dress nicely in respect for the event.
These SLOBS get upset when getting withering looks from people like me…
… even though their ‘attire’ is so ‘FUCK YOU’…
I wouldn’t even go to the corner store in looking such a SLOB…
Of course, flying commercial nowadays is another affront… on many levels.
Yes, the women's outfits that look like pajamas. What are they thinking? I never even wear track pants out.
And the bed head…
This might be my favorite episode ever

New Zealander here ... Ardern does not have an empathetic bone in her body - she now lives overseas because is considered a hair away from dictatorship and is no longer wanted here
She shows her cowardice by abandoning the ship that she ran up onto rocks. How did so many people not see through her?
WEF puppet, pure evil creature
@@Trundlebugg There will never be a Queen with quite the same stature as Elizabeth II.
Wow! this person came straight out of left-field (baseball metaphor, not political left field) and delivered one of the sharpest interviews ever on your program. Thanks for an enlightening Trig episode, and invite this guy back regularly.
Brilliant conversation about a very overlooked aspect of society
Absolutely true. Style today represents vulgarity. Society has dipped VERY low.
We couldn't have imagined what a fascinating conversation this would be. So glad we watched!
I was hesitant to watch given my inadequacies in fashion, and now want Dimitry to design me my first tailor made suit. Great guest guys! Such insight to cultural human behavior and thought.
I had very low expectations of this interview. I was very wrong, worth watching again and again, so many insights to absorb.
I love it.
Amen. We behave the way we dress. There are times we need our clothes to remind us how to behave.💃🕴️🕺🦸
Women should care primarily how clean and modest they appear. Men should care primarily how well clothes facilitate productivity. When these get confused there is some kind of physical and/or psychological disorder at play.
I'm all in for a return of classy and sophisticated style
This is by far the most intellectually colorful fashion designer I've ever heard. Yes that's probably a small set of people haha but still, this dude is cool AF.
Not at all afraid to break a few rules and pioneer new territory.
I agree. Clothes are an investment. Buy good quality, stylish pieces that never go out of fashion.
Do you have an example of a woman that has the body type that you are describing and looking for a suit for? I'm very curious now.
1 = sub-normative or 'ideal' fat (Greek-style 'curvy' or 'ideal woman')
2 = normative fat/curvy proper (slightly fat, but not 'too far' -- and implies that the 'fat is in the right places' and 'good genetics' -- i.e. ideal woman in general, as opposed to just 'slightly fat'. You can be slightly fat or not fat and also not actually curvy)
3 = normative fat (slightly fat, but not 'too fat' or 'obese' -- not curvy/ideal, but very common and normative)
4 = fat (i.e. slightly obese, but not very unhealthy, or early death. Depends on exact person. Very common today, but mostly abnormal)
5 = obese (i.e. innately unhealthy, many health issues, hyper-fat, and likely to die before age 50; abnormal in almost all cases)
6 = extremely obese and beyond
Note: It's difficult and unhealthy to get pregnant at 3-5. (Of course, many Western Russians are skinny due to lack of food and lifestyle, or due to living in warmer climates way down in the south-west.)
'0' in this range would be the 'skinny' range, of course -- often deemed unhealthy and less than ideal. However, here the Greeks and others weren't quite as extreme.)
Note that women have fat in different places compared with men, and women ought to be a bit fatter than men in general, so a direct sex-based comparison is unwise.

I know exactly what you mean, I can wear a lot of clothes but I don’t own that much that actually fits me. For years I’ve altered my clothes but it is very time consuming!

Like how Dimitri was dressed.
The main "heroin" of Penguine is one of the best costums , l have seen on an actress in a LONG time.

Excellent. This conversation could have gone on for hours. Well done!
I loved it. Merry Christmas everyone. May God bless you greatly in the coming year.

Merry Christmas!
Georgia Meloni looks great too.
And Alice Weidel
I had always wondered what was up with Peterson's suits. This is an interesting conversation, but I will have to watch this guys videos to see if I agree with his suit philosophy. I've thought Peterson's suits made him look more like a Batman villain than a respectable psychologist and pseudo-Dad on the internet.
It was an interesting edge to his persona
You specifically mean The Joker right? That jacket with different designs in each quadrant. To be fair even I could recommend an improvement on that.

How I've clothes shopped for 45 years: go in cheapest store with decent quality, find clearance rack, find my size, if price $10 or more buy 1, if price $4 to $10 buy 2, if price $1 to $3 buy 100...done
How I've dressed for 45 years: climb out of bed, reach in drawers and grab item on top, grab from first hanger and pull down, put on clothes, go to restroom, turn on lights, shave...done

'The Myth of Male Power: Why Men are the Disposable Sex' by Warren Farrell 1993 - covers a lot of these issues.
Now that I know who JPeterson gets his suits from, they make even more sense. This tailor is genuinely swift.
Loved this. The history of fashion is the history of the world.
Fascinating conversation. Three men, talking about what fashion means!!! It means more than I realized.
I did not expect to enjoy a history talk on fashion but damn here we are I guess.
Very interesting and thought provoking conversation. This is a guest you should consider inviting back for another episode.
Margaret Thatcher's dressing was an image of confidence, strength and leadership
Loved this deep dive into cultural norms vs iconic brilliance! My husband ( a fashionista from the 70’s) 😉 so related to Dimitris cultural observations. It was interesting and on point. Great conversations guys & on point I was intrigued! 👏👏
