i think Pandas are like Kangaroos and Koala in the way that they all are national symbols so foreigners feel excited coming to a country and visit such national animals. But I think Panda does differ from Kangaroo and Koala in the sense that Pandas are indeed endangered species and you wont see them in the wild. Even for Chinese people, pandas are extremely scarce and Chinese are just as excited if not more thrilled to see a panda whether in a zoo or a conservation area. So I guess from this perspective Pandas are a more exciting animal to see. I also learned that kangaroo meats are for sale in Australia. So I guess kangaroo is more like the gators in Florida, US I suppose? I can be wrong❤
Back to some forty years ago it is almost impossible to see wild panda in mountains. I remember we hike walk about 5 hours to a wild observer station for interviewing researchers there and surprised to know even for them can only check panda’s dropping instead the real animal. When I saying hiking 5 hours I mean we start from heart of conservation of wuolong already!
for my opinion, I think Chinese cherish and spoil pandas more than Australian treat kangaroos and koalas, because panda is more scarce, and only a few big cities have pandas in their zoo, even the zoo has, they only have 2 or 4 pandas at most. so even Chinese want to enjoy more pandas,Chendu is the only place.
I didn’t mean from a rarity point of view - more that you can’t see them anywhere but their respective countries. Even though they’re in zoos worldwide, they are icons that represent their countries
The Chinese are a lot like pandas, with white skin and black eyes, a docile personality, strong teeth and great bite force, and will not attack others unless they are cornered.
26:21 Thats the same observations I have, I am also from Sydney, I was in China earlier this year. If you own a 3rd of whar Aussies own, life is definitely better in China with so much more options for everything. Life dont seem too bad for the poor people as well as they typically have a village and home to go back to and live for free without mortgages. Rural China has become much more convenient and liveable in recent years.
You are right, in China, many people work and live in cities, and if they succeed in the city, they can buy a house in the city and settle down. But they still have a family in the countryside and their own land. In the worst case, they won't starve to death.
There are so many koalas and kangaroos in Australia that you can buy kangaroo meat in supermarkets. Pandas are so Rare, that they only have one or two baby a year, and the survival rate is very low.

Koalas are sadly downgraded to endangered as of 2022 - the big bushfires we had in 2020 ripped through a lot of the natural habitat and took a good chunk of the wild population out 😩

is it possible to have hot pot with a panda?
