The saying is indeed true.. Cruising IS fixing your boat in exotic places... But at least the places we find ourselves in have beautiful views and dinner below the surface! Join us for a full day of boat life as we change neighborhoods, try to prevent the boat from sinking, and do our best to survive off the sea. In todays video we sail to nearby Ronde Island which we haven't been to in 5 years when we were there with Billy's sister Catherine and @BeauAndBrandy Billy fixes a leaking raw water pump then we go diving looking for dinner and find a few lobsters and more than a few lion fish.

by tapping on the outer race(instead of inner) of that bearing you have now brinelled the races. these are micro cracks. it will fail soon. itll get louder and louder till its either screaming or seizes. maybe youll get lucky and get 20hr.... try to always push press or tap any bearing by the race that is being captured.
You guys are super healthy based on watching you for the past 4-5 years ,I see what you eat and cholesterol is a big fraud in the US keep doing what your doing you’ll live to be 100. Love you guys and Zatara for past 5-7 years! Keith’s a hoot!
Billy,
Last time I did replace my seal straight from the front of the pump on my yanmar 3YM30 and no problems....no need to dismantle the pump. Yours needs dismantling because your bearings are dead, get new ones asap. Maybe your shaft is not spinning concentric because of damaged bearings and that uses prematurely your seal. Don't use emeril cloth to polish the shaft, use a scotch-brite green pad instead. Much softer with it. Use lots of grease to pack the bearings in the pump body. That, and the shaft middle o'ring will prevent water from getting in. There is a small hole in the pump body that acts as a teller and when it leaks from there you know your seal is worn and needs to be replaced before water enters the bearings side. Seals should last at least two impeller changes but if you tension too much the water pump belt after replacing impeller that uses the seal. Try to keep the same tension as before the impeller was replaced.
Cheers guys and Jetty from Spain 😊
Good clear headed thinking guys. If you still want to be having fun in your older years, you have to take care of your mind and body. I'm 73 and still ride my bike 150 miles per week. I do other things as well but you need something to get you off that stool or out of that chair. 🙂
Totally agree with your perspective. In the marina we used to keep out boat everything seemed to revolve around sitting and drinking. It was not our style either and as a result we were kind of the recluses of the marina and not in the "in crowd". I would much rather be out doing something fun. I have nothing against a casual drink, but to spend every evening doing nothing but that was not healthy for me.
yes, even the imbibing or self medication goes old ...
And vitamin _Sea_ is key.
Why? Because the sea, it calls to me!
28:52 Wow, yes, Octopus baby, Love them, my favorites. Such cool underwater beings !
I’d lived in the Caribbean for 10+ years before a local friend told me the way they deal with weevils is to freeze dried goods when they get them home from the store. Ideally, keep them in the fridge/freezer full time but if you don’t have space for that, I’ve found this helps keep our flour and oats black spot free. Just a tip you might find useful!
You have the right attitude, girl. Stay close to our Lord and know He will watch over you and Billy.
This has been one of your best videos. Combination of sailing, sight seeing and boat projects. Editing, music and photography were fantastic. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Question, to you like a galley down or up?
In a compact boat, galley down frees up so much living space. I guess it also depends on the cook. When I'm cooking I want to be left alone and not be distracted so galley down would (will?) be perfect for me.
We're totally with you. We'd much rather go do something than sit around at a happy hour drinking...especially since I (Geri) doesn't drink at all. We felt much the same way as you described when we were in Guatemala last year over hurricane season. Too much hanging around, not enough adventure.
Make your way this way so we can share some adventures! ☺️⛵️🎣🐠🤿 hope you guys are having fun!! Don’t get too carried away by those boat projects!
Loved the retro flashback to your previous visit. Also cool mixing with Zatara. I've followed both your channels since covid.... probably the only upside that mess. Be safe
Awesome job with the pump reconditioning. As someone else suggested before you install the bearings put the shaft in the freezer and the bearings in the sun in top of a solar panel. They will likely just slide together with less chance of damage to the bearings.
i live here and i miss you guys and sailing zatara i'm crying
When you get flour definitely sift it like you did, then put it in your freezer for at least 2 weeks. All flour has weavel eggs in it, so by freezing it you kill off the weavel eggs.
glad you are out of the hurricane zone!!!!
The underwater camera work was just beautiful! The images of the the fish and reef was crystal clear.
Thanks!
8:10 hey I'm a local here. And real value groceries are way higher in cost than any other grocery place. I think sailor's that go to grenada tend to shop at the wrong places hence you spend so much money.... watermelon should be 30- 40 EC depending on the size could be more.. sucks to hear all the bad feedback when most of the time it's not true... glad u still enjoyed.
Hi Guys, Everybody loves my teeshirts (support the Grenadian Paws)! I am so glad to hear you guys are not heavy drinkers. Moderation is always the best way to go. When I was growing up in the sailing community, there were a lot of alcoholics. That really was an eye opener. Happy Sailing ⛵
Hope you are well and no damage or injuries! Miss you both.
Great snorkeling pics love the colours
I was in Columbia last year. Not my favorite place but we still had fun. Lots of pan handlers in the streets.
I love you guys and your videos. This one is awesome, and the water is so beautiful! Prayers, Love, and Hugs to you.
I'm with ya... I'd rather spend my time in or on the water. It's what I enjoy.
After watching the sunset scenery at 16:55 min mark of the video where Sierra and Billy are walking on the beach, I'd agree with everything Sierra says, if she says this is the spot, that is the spot, case closed. I thought it was THE MIGHTY HULK next to Billy on that beach with sun almost down. Seriously Billy, just say "yes dear" next time.
Music on the underwater scenes is great! Nice repair on the water pump (w/o a press). Beautiful diving, great vid!.
Sierra, Your underwater vid was awesome. Loved it. Haven't dove in awhile and miss it. That world is just the coolest. Thanx
Sad to see the loss of all the trees. Great video. Love to see all the sea life. ❤❤❤❤
Add the canned pumpkin to Jetty's dog food - she'll love it and it's good for her! 🐶🐾❤
interesting ... some dawgs are picky, others may have a better nose in their face.
Just a little at a time though. Too much will cause bathroom issues you don't want on a boat. Well, you never want your dog to have them but on a boat, it would be even worse.
Hey mate, premature seal failure in the raw water pump could be from the small spring around the lip of the seal rusting in the salt water. On my Yanmars, I pluck the spring out and replace it with an O-ring of the same size. Haven't had an issue in 15 years since doing this.
Love you kids! The devastation you showed of the coconut palms was certainly sad to see. Good job hunting the lionfish! That meal looked delicious. Safe travels. ❤
32:15 Some suggestions...press bearings onto shaft via the inner race only! Using the outer race can cause the bearing race to Brinell..
Also, lubricate the seal and shaft surface using dielectric (silicone) grease. Running it dry will quickly cause the seal to fail. Regards.
Thanks guys, GO SWEET JETTY GIRL. 👍🏻💕🐾🍖
Neat, clean, and organized. My kind of people!
Back then, I was all about traveling and enjoying life, but once inflation hit, I had to pull back. Even with adjustments, those earlier withdrawals and splurges are tough to recover from. Now, I’m more focused on making my savings last, but it’s a challenge I didn’t fully see coming
I’m nearing retirement myself, and I had similar concerns. I started investing later than most, and just relying on ETF compounding wasn’t cutting it for me either. After working with a financial advisor, I managed to restructure my investments and am now on track to retire with around $4 million. If I hadn’t sought advice, I doubt I’d be as confident in my plan right now
I’m trying to figure out the best approach for my portfolio. How did you find your advisor? I feel like I need that kind of guidance
I usually steer clear of recommending specific people because financial needs are so personal. But I can say that working with Emily Ava Milligan has made a world of difference for me. I noticed her strategies are tailored to fit personal goals and make sense for different needs. It might be worth exploring to see if her approach resonates with you.
Thanks for that. I did a quick search and found her page. I was able to email so I sent over a few questions to get more info. Appreciate you sharing
Staying young, healthy and happy 🎉 😊
It would be cool if you could show every now and again the overall route your taking. I find myself researching your journey. Love the show and respect your values 100%
No judgment so do what makes you happy!!
Missing the music jams at Nimrods and Hog Island. We are retired and have kept our Clarke’s court for hurricane season the last 6 years. Enjoyed this video. Makes us long to return
Awesome video guys.. boat projects, diving, fishing, cooking, beautiful nature. You guys are killing it! Keep it up..
watching you guys playback footage with Bo and Brandy makes me realize I’ve been sitting on the couch for five years watching you all make it happen!
The octopus look cool
Oh my God you guys are so much fun to hang out with. Billy use a socket that hits on the center/ inside of the race and not on the outside of the bearing. Otherwise you're doing great. 😊
"not sean any one for day's" that sounds so good I wish I was alone somewhere in nature privately remotely, nice and peaceful life
Billy, the water pump on my Volvo, i have only rebuilt it once in 16 years, so that reminds me time too have a close lock at it, impeller about 4 times, would of thought yours would of been under warranty, something must be faulty cheers Wayne
What I find is the seals fail cause the spring that tensions it rusts away, you can get seals with stainless springs and stainless bearings from Mc master carr real cheap also I use a pick and pull the seals off the bearings and clean the grease out and re pack with Lucas oil synthetic grease put the seals back in and the pumps last alot longer...hope this helps!
The late '60s and early '70s we lived in key West. Wife and I Free dove, and snorkeled nearly every day. Langustas so plentiful and so were the Green moray eels... Their eyesight's terrible and nearly bit the arm of a friend of mine. I'm surprised you haven't experienced the same.
Another super entertaining video. Thank You! Best wishes!
Great video guy's, really enjoyed it!
"Rum is the reason, pirates never ruled the world" - Toby Keith
Its a good hypothesis. Lol
Thanks!
Billy, we need that recipe for the dish you made!
SUGGESTION..when you nuy good fruit such as oranges, apples and kiwi..freeze them. You can blend them in a smoothie to keep the smoothie cold when frozrn or take fishing and they slowly thaw
If the seals keep leaking, sometimes it’s because the stainless spring inside is corroding, or stretching. I have found adding a slightly tight O ring inside the spring groove keeps tension on the seal. I guess you have one of those boxes of rubber O rings, I just try different sizes till one works..
It is sad and heartbreaking to see but The Island will definitely recover❤ and if it shows anything, it definitely is a and shows Testament to your beautiful relationship your love for the sea and adventure and sailing ❤the hard work and the determination that you both have put in all these years to keep on living❤ not everyone else's idea of what things should be but your own and absolutely what both of you love and are passionate for and it's absolutely beautiful ❤the dedication the love and the work that you put into getting a new boat and just taking care of that sweet precious dog of yours❤ you both have put in so much hard work❤ I have so much respect for you both ❤as somebody that likes to stay away from the crowd my my own self and my rescue 5-year-old Belgium Malinois is one of my best friends and the Sun and the beauty that just the beautiful creation that God created is just so beautiful and you both slow down and enjoy it ❤ it's absolutely priceless ❤ always prayers for you both❤ you both have such a love for the Sea and the ocean and if somebody that was a lifeguard for 15 years myself coach swim team top kids how to swim I love the water I'm 38 I had a stroke a year ago and I've had to relearn how to do a lot❤ it's been hard braking but definitely a blessing at the same time do you do some circumstances and I just want to thank you both so much for just making honest real videos I have so much love and respect for you both and I don't even know you but I see how you love the same things that I do and how you both don't go with you know what everybody thinks it should be you do what you love and that is the most important thing you stay true to yourself and I really really respect your hard work and your dedication❤ may God just bless all three of you and keep you safe❤
This message just made our day ❤️❤️ thank you so much for the kind words! You are an inspiration and we hope your recovery is getting easier by the day. We are thinking of you!
Hey boaters drink a lot I grew up on the lakes no harm no foul glad your pushing for more exploration
As a nondrinker, I applaud your feelings. Nothings against booze, just not for me
here here, as an Aussie who's a non-drinker, people were puzzled by my stance, I don't mind others drinking, I just don't care for it, I don't like the taste, but especially in the last century it made work culture difficult. The first reaction on me not drinking was that I was some kind of religious nut who was going to tell them not to drink, but no, nothing like that, I just enjoy coffee more than beer and coffee is cheaper, so why drink something I don't like when I can drink something I enjoy?
same, i enjoy a bourbon or other mixed drink. Not a beer drinker at all. i could go 5 years between having anything and be fine. I will say, if i have one i might follow it up with 1 or 2 more over the next few days, but then i remember how expensive it is and spend my money on more fishing stuff.
@@iwishiknew10 -- a quality smooth bourbon can be great - neat or on the rocks, from time to time. I generally do not drink wine, though it can stay "fresh" for several years, when correctly stored at around 75F to 65F ambient with little to zero sunshine.
bourbon or a few quality dark rums hit the spot. I think vitamin sea is more key, though - as cheesy as that may be.
Yes, the sea - it calls to me!
To each his or her own!
OMG Billy! I sure hope your “work bench” was the top of an old ice chest because it sure looked beat up! Very nice technique with that water pump too!
We bought apples at our local orchard here in Iowa 2 weeks ago for $32 a bag and we picked them....they were good but that was spensive
To rebuild the pump once a year seem excessive to me! I have had a Belize43 and only rebuild them once in 10 years. I managed to get the seals with stainless steel ring in them and also used Australian Lanolin marin grease between the bearings and all places I could get it in. Never a problem since that first overhaul after I bougth the boat.
Great video by the way, very enjoyable fram my armchair.
Loved the old footage with Beau and Brandi
😮😮😮 Utes school me on the bugs over there preciate that baby😊😊
Coconut is high in clersterol also.
Great video as always , pictures are amazing too , go along with your views on drinking its not for me either I’m still able to ride my motorcycle more than 10, 000 smiles per year at 81 years old do my own maintenance, I’m an old engineer so love your repair work Billy and your great confidence in all you do , wish you two a long healthy happy life together , stay safe , Graham ❤
You are an inspiration Graham! We hope to be as active as you in our 80’s! Thanks for watching :)❤️⛵️
Man. Those before and after shots were surreal.
I’m with y’all on hardly ever drinking except real special celebrations having a few. It’s so hard on the body. ✌🏽💪🏽❤️🌈
I really like that Dreamers of the Shore song!
Thanks for gently addressing the drinking. Social connections are very important and necessary, but there are deeper and better connections than the happy hour or partying. I don’t want to judge either, but to me everything in moderation is far better than drinking as self medication.
Love from Grenada 🇬🇩 ❤️...
choices, auto plus insurance, Pay rent, renters insurance, Fuel for car, Maintain car,. I would take the boat and it's maintenance any day.
@ 11:03, I am eating one of those oatmeal cookies as I watch your video! G-nite.
Love watching you guys , this will hopefully be me in retirement 😎🇦🇺😎
What a great time... If you can get a large 12 " + C clamp or better Sq. shape use that as a press. Hey I make the same face when working...
I watched your pump rebuild. when you reinstalled the bearings it looked like the socket was on the outer race, when you hammer on the outer race you basically hammer across the bearing. I think it would be better in the future if. you put in your kit a sleeve that just slides over the shaft of the pump and that way you would install by tapping down the inner race causing less damage to the bearing. You seem to have to do this on the regular so. probably would be good to have in your tool kit. Good Job.
I don't always have room in my freezer for flour, but Bay Leaves work great. Just be sure to put it in the very bottom of the container, otherwise you'll get leaf pieces when you don't want them!
You are absolutely correct on the cholesterol numbers. Get the Berkeley blood test. This will tell you if your ldl is the sticky stuff or the light fluffy type. I tell all my younger friends find out what your cholesterol type is before u worry about it. My family history I knew what was coming. My Medical advisor told me to get the test and as aspected mine is the sticky type. I need to keep the ldl numbers down.
We don’t drink and would rather be alone together in beautifully exotic places. And that’s after 36 years of marriage still like that over happy hours. It’s a our way! Enjoy!
Yes the spines have tetradioxen it makes you have a heart attack like when you eat fish that was caught during a red tide.
@ 33:46, our highly trained technician executes splitting of a diamond while at anchor ala Chrysler Cordoba!
You might know this but freezing steaks in grocery store packaging encourages freezer burn. Obviously you might have just loaded the freezer that way for "content". But I didn't know this when I was young. Love you guys!!!!
You are right about the freezing. However, I don’t think their frozen meat sits around long enough to be an issue. 3-6 months won’t harm them.
See you in two weeks!!
❤ you need to check for the water enters the our to the Sea on your pump cuz sometimes they stopped up and build up excess pressure and make that seal leak
Loved this one! We can SO relate to this. (Which is probably how we ended up meeting on a dock in the middle of nowhere) You're welcome to sit and read a book and eat good food on our beach anyyytime
A beautiful video thanks for the ride ❤
Nothin wrong with a fresh crunchy american weavil. That's the good stuff.
Bugs also lay eggs under the label on your canned goods. Most remove the label and grab the sharpie.
Hello! Have you guys ever thought about sailing to Asia? I know it’s really far away, but it would be fun to watch and the sailing scenery around the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam are spectacular (Indonesia is also really beautiful, but some RUclips sailing people had sketchy people boarding their boats there trying to scam them, one even had a gun, and quite a few men behaved very inappropriately with their 12 year old daughter- don’t recommend). Anywho you guys are lovely, have a great day ❤️from Australia
Really enjoyed…. Bill has skills
Well that's cool! I shop at IGA too! Well mine is in crossville tn HAH!
You should’ve asked Catherine how to jump across that creek😂
Put a bay leaf in with your oats etc it kills the bugs
A good way to remember cholesterol is LDL is lousy, and HDL is happy. High levels of happy, HDL, are good, and low levels of LDL, lousy, are good.
I commend both of you for keeping drinking in check. Neither of you are barflies. I love your energetic outdoor adventurous lives. 💪
Thanks for sharing. 🐙
I am never NOT fixing our boat.. repair and maintenance is a never ending part of boat ownership but I like it and it means that everything on our boar works.. all the time.. Working on the boat means I get to go sailing on the boat..
This is nice to watch while waiting for another hurricane here in Tampa 🌀
@TulasEndlessSummer1 What? Who is this? Im fine. The weather isn’t bad.
@xTulasEndlessSummer1 You’re a fraud & Ive reported you.
I love your videos ❤
Oh no....I don't see you on boat show schedule anymore. I'll have to unpack my tula swag. Maybe next year. Cheers.
Love your lifestyle i bet you even read the boxes for what the ingredients are trying to survive in a world that adds to many forms of Sugar and other ickey stuff
Ingredient readers we are ;) thanks for watching!!
You're "tapping " the wrong race on the bearing.. you should have a tube that fits just over the shaft to push on the inner race of the bearing. Your socket is pushing on the outer race and that can damage the bearing..
Also check the alignment and tension of the drive belt. I'm a marine engineer with 48 yrs experience. To check the belt tension, take the longest span between pulleys between your thumb and forefinger and twist it. If it rotates easily to 90 degrees it's too loose. If you struggle to twist to 90 degrees it's too tight. It should just get to 90 degrees without being too easy or struggling to get to 90
This is true👍
Una Bear the Salty Dog!!
Hoping you guys can see some dolphins or maybe a shark. Always cool to see. Prayers for Florida as this hurricane makes landfall. Be safe.❤
