Favorite part is when Colosaus looses it after Wolverine and Storm get killed and the narrator says the line "and the gentle Colosaus feels the rage of wolverine, and welcomes it" then a panel of a sentinel flying out the building. Such a badass emotional moment, and Pyro's Fire demon was cool too. Glad you guys got to this and keep on Popin!
Ben and Tiffany's reaction to how short Days of Future Past is and how much filler there is in the trade is great. Those faces at 34:57 are priceless! lol
You guys are great! I really like how Tiff adds all the ART and GRAPHIC perspective too this. She should do a show where she reviews comic book art and collectable statues.
This was a really confusing TPB when I got it. Marvel released an oversized hard cover called Days of Future Past when the movie came out and that had the more relevant material. It had the two issues of Uncanny X-Men with the original storyline, and then other related issues like the "Days of Future Present" storyline, some Rachel Summers Phoenix stories and a Wolverine mini series set in the Days of Future Past storyline. The quality of the material varies, but at least it was all actually related to the original series rather than just a bunch of random issues.
Magdi: "So you can bang my daughter now." Nightcrawler, having dated Amanda Sefton for months: "Uhhh... thanks. I will start to do that. Because I definitely haven't been doing it for months already. Thank you." Bought trade count since I started watching Back Issues: 27
I love the "And Also Frank Miller!" black screen. I think there's a subconscious desire to ignore Mr. Miller after all the utter crap you all have covered in Back Issues. Seriously though, I love that a core X-Men event was covered, and I looooove this channel. If I'm ever at a con where I know you're attending (difficult, since I'm on the west coast), you'll be, like, top 3 priority to see. Keep up the great work, ComicPOP! (as presented by TV Little House)
For some reason, after every time Sal pauses after describing a dramatic moment in DoFP, I whisper in my serious voice: "...It wasn't always like this." Try to see how many you can do it.
This collection is well into Claremont's run, and they were mostly doing one and two issue stories that had a very different sensibilities than modern "trade paperback" style storylines. This is basically an assemblage of the issues (and an annual) which were in no way designed to be a trade. It was a great if you were picking up X-Men every month for 40 cents but maybe not as a book?
Days of Future past is a great story but it bothers me at the same time. Like how in the world did any super hero team or super villains that are not X-Men allowed that to happen.I would expect everyone to team up and win the fight.
This has to be the funniest episode so far! Loved the dashed expectation for some kind of call back to the filler issues. Best part was Ben just giving up on the whole mess. Exactly what I wanted to do when I read it.
Great show as always peeps! I stopped reading comics as a teenager and only started again last year through Marvels digital format. In that time nothing has decided my choices of older comic arcs to buy like your channel. I gotta say I was hoping this might be Maximum Carnage though. As a fan of both modern and classic venom I bought the giant trade of this digitally recently and it was a colossal mess but it's all worth it when you end up doing an arc I've read. Wondering, with Tiff's love of Indy comics if she read the last run of Hawkeye. It's spectacular.
The Days of Future Past storyline is also significant because it's the first time a connection between Mystique and Nightcrawler is established. By the way, Franklin Richard's codename is "Ultiman", but it isn't revealed until years later when young Franklin Richards is a member of Power Pack and Master Mold (yep, the same primary sentinel that always manages to keep coming back. At least in those days anyway) is trying to kill him. For whatever reason, Master Mold knows who "The Twelve" (that story gets told many years later) are and identifies Franklin as one of them. Franklin is listed in the sentinel's database as Ultiman. At this point in his life, Franklin did not have full access to his powers and only had precognitive dreams and the ability to project an intangible psychic duplicate of himself he uses to interact with the rest of Power Pack on their adventures.
I know you get a lot of suggestions for back issues but i would love to see one on Daredevil Born Again or anything on the character really. Seeing their reactions to all the crazy that is daredevil would be great, give Daredevil some love especially with the new show coming up. Keep up the great work!
The set of stories are not random choices for that paperback. The stories appear as they were published in chronological order starting with the Nightcrawler birthday story from X-men Annual #4 back in 1980.
Great episode guys! Really funny, and never realized how different the original story is from the cartoon and movie. Also hilarious to see Tiff anger slowly rise during the episode over how half the book was irrelevant.
I agree with Tiffany. Ever since I was a kid reading X-Men and saw Apocalypse in the comics I could only think of his big blue lips every time I heard his name.
Days of Future Past / comic (1981) similar premise - The Terminator (1984) similar premise - Quantum Leap / TV Series (1989) Days of Future Past / movie (2014)
Hilarious episode guys! Way to kick off the first Back Issues of the ComicPOP era. This had my co-workers giving me dirty looks as I couldn't help laughing out loud multiple times during the video.
Hey, nice LootCrate shirt, Tiffany! Also, was I the only person super stoked about the S.H.I.E.L.D. lanyard? Laziest last minute cosplay ever = suit&tie+lanyard, ha ha
I think the only reason for the first couple issues are to explain why Cyclops isn't there. Then they thought it would be weird if they put in the Cyclops issue, then skipped a couple issues, to get to the story, so they just put it all in.
hey guys , luv the shows , i would really like to see all of your guys man cave collections in a show or maybe in a special , great job all of you and keep it up ,
Hey guy's! Just wondering if y'all will ever make an episode of a cosmic Marvel story. Maybe Realm of Kings or War of Kings? I haven't read them yet but they look like interesting stories. Oh and I like the new name that's the reason I found you guys. keep it up!
The TPB that I have only consists of the 2-issue story: no Alpha Flight; no Christmas; no Nightcrawler in Heck; a LOT less to plow thru! Thanx to Tiffany for her valiantly doomed attempts to tie everything else in the book (among other things!) 🖖♾
I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how long it was gonna take for someone to pet the kitty. You should involve the kitty more....I would watch you guys talking comics and playing with the kitty...kitty.
I just rewatched this, and I'm wondering... What if someone did the QUADRUPLE FASTBALL SPECIAL??!!! Jean Grey throwing Magneto throwing Colossus throwing Wolverine (and goes supersonic in the process)...
I just always have an issue when a faction of the Marvel universe like the X-men or even Spiderman have an end of the world scenario even though there are other heroes (like Hulk and Thor) who are vastly more powerful than the X-men that by themselves could end the Sentinel threat but never end up being a factor for literally no reason at all.
Why didn't they just break the inhibitor collar off of Franklin Richards so he could fix everything with his reality warping powers? Why'd they have to go with the crazy hare-brained scheme of sending Kitty's personality into the past into her own brain? I feel like I'm missing some context, here.
Or a better question could be: why the fuck did Franklin Richards allow himself to get power inhibiting collar put on him in the first place. Dude makes universes, how did this happen?
Don't think this is the uber powerful Franklin. Not all future version of Franklin have the same powers, they are usually connected to psychic abilities somehow though
Where did Ben get that t-shirt? It says "Carbine" something on the sleeve. Looks cool. Need more info! =) Btw, this whole episode I'm just humming that theme song. Dunna dunna daaa da da.... awesome.
Love this channel and really enjoyed the discussion but feel like it was a little unfair to this collection. I thought Nightcrawlers Inferno was such a cool issue and also liked Nightcrawler and Wolverine in Canada and then the final issue where Katie proves herself is a nice conclusion to the first issue of her arriving to the team.
Hey guys, I would find it really cool if you can do a back issues on Avengers Arena. I really love this channel and I hope you guys keep up the amazing channel! Thanks
Hi Sal Tiff and Ben, ComicGeek Dad here. A couple of explanations regarding this trade paperback. It features reprints of Uncanny X-Men 138-144 as well as X-men King Size Annual number 3 (Nightcrawler's Inferno).. These were the stories right directly after the conclusion of the Dark Phoenix Saga.which is kind of weird because I have a trade paperback that only has the two issues of Days of Future past which was put out in 98 featuring a Rob Leifeld cover. This is obviously a newer trade paperback. They also feature the stories in a different order apparently if the Christmas story is at the end of the book because technically that takes place before Wolverine and Nightcrawler go to Canada.. so far this episode is my favorite just because how underwhelmed ...Tiff and Ben seem regarding the storyline because all the other stories just try to set up Kitty trying to get used to being an X-men in a subplot to beef up her impact of Days of Future Past. And that is a stretch as far as guessing why Marvel decided to sell this trade as the Days of Future Past trade, the only other significance to the stories is these were the last issues.drawn by John Byrne and co-plotted by him before his successful run on Fantastic Four, and the King Size Annual if I am not mistaken was penciled by George Perez. Lol... I keep watching the videos and find myself trying to answer the questions being asked to Sal as if you all are in the same room with me LOL. I really enjoy the videos. I haven't watched them all yet but I plan to catch myself completely up. Thanks for a great channel.
Awesome episode! I remembered getting the trade and going " Where in the hell is Days of Future Past?". On the next Back Issues, could you guys do the latest Multiversity issue? Cause I reaaaaally wanna see your opinions on it xD
The Animated series with Gambit and Bishop relates to a cool story from 90s XMen that hasn't really been baked out as much as it needs to be with Gambit as the final Witness after all the other X-Men have been killed. So it makes sense that Bishop would recognize him. It seemed like they would have a comic story where Gambt became the Witness but Marvel did not do it.
So if she can see only so far into someone's future maybe she cannot see Kitty's future due to her consciousness being from beyond her far-sights reach?
Pick up X-Men Days of Future Past here: amzn.to/19nRJyl
Ben and Tiffany’s faces when Sal said “and the next issue is a Christmas story” had me rolling on the floor.
I honestly need a picture of Wolverine making a cheese sandwhich and muttering, "..best at what I do."
We all do
Because it would be awesome
Jeff Batista This need to be a t-shirt
Jeff Batista Right?
I would take a 30 second short
I love the cat just so elegantly walking behind them as they talk about a man with claws and a mythical beast
I love Nightcrawler, he's like the nicest guy on earth, but he looks like a freaking nightmare
You should take a look at deadpool without his mask.
+THE DAYWALKER it's 2016, I know what he looks like without the mask
+The Panel Biter like an avocado facefucked an older uglier avocado?
But he has such a nice personality
Caitlin Brewer his personality out ways his looks (which really aren’t that bad)
Cameron Blackburn except colossus is bad at it, dies soon after lol
@@redassassian I mean...you can't say he's bad at being Logan when he outlived the original.
I love Tiffany's expressions. She cracks me up. Fun episode, comic pop.
Comicpop.........TVLITTLEHOUSE IS DEAD
Tiffany's expressions were freaking awesome!!! Each expression was exactly how I was feeling each time
This is one of the first episodes I ever watched. Can’t believe it was a DECADE ago! What the heck.
And how is there not a million subscribers yet!
Ben's reaction at 50:04 is the best moment in this episode
I love Sal's Dr. Strange voice. He sounds just like Dr. Orpheus from Venture Bros.
Ben and Tiffany's reaction to how short Days of Future Past is and how much filler there is in the trade is great. Those faces at 34:57 are priceless! lol
Lmao @ Ben's reaction at 49:05, pure rage quit.
Watching Sal stifle a yawn at 49:31 made me yawn lol
I love Tiff's mug! And her reaction of "PRINCESS?!? What is he, Han Solo??"
Haha, great episode, guys!
Thank you, Sammie!
I’ve seen this too many times to count and I just noticed sal had an agents of shield lanyard
You could've just bought the Blu Ray from Walmart. It came with a little mini comic book with those two issues in it.
You guys are great! I really like how Tiff adds all the ART and GRAPHIC perspective too this. She should do a show where she reviews comic book art and collectable statues.
"This kind of a rip off... Fuck this"

This episode was hilarious! And the random cat that kept popping up only added to the hilarity.

well it collects the last issues of Byrne on X-Men (138-143) right after Dark Phoenix, it makes sense to put these "filler" issues together
Days of Future past is a great story but it bothers me at the same time. Like how in the world did any super hero team or super villains that are not X-Men allowed that to happen.I would expect everyone to team up and win the fight.

I laughed so hard at the part of where you guys determine power levels, thank you so much for that:
Snowbird
Hulk
Wendigo
Wolverine
So many confused looks. Priceless!
It would be cool to see a modern retelling of Days of future past with the winter soldier as Track’s assassin
I know you get a lot of suggestions for back issues but i would love to see one on Daredevil Born Again or anything on the character really. Seeing their reactions to all the crazy that is daredevil would be great, give Daredevil some love especially with the new show coming up. Keep up the great work!
Ah, back when they would mug for the camera. Still great & going at the end of 2021! Love you guys!!
The set of stories are not random choices for that paperback. The stories appear as they were published in chronological order starting with the Nightcrawler birthday story from X-men Annual #4 back in 1980.
Coffee and BACK ISSUES
I love that my first day off in my week always falls on new back issue day
Tiff,Ben,Sal, and MIA Ethan, tks
Great episode guys! Really funny, and never realized how different the original story is from the cartoon and movie. Also hilarious to see Tiff anger slowly rise during the episode over how half the book was irrelevant.
I love how anytime Sal talks about Doctor Strange, he uses Doctor Orpheus' voice. XDXD
I agree with Tiffany. Ever since I was a kid reading X-Men and saw Apocalypse in the comics I could only think of his big blue lips every time I heard his name.
Great work as always guys. Hearing what they had to work with makes the movie more impressive.
Evil Dead references make me a happy viewer/ Another great episode from ComicPOP! I love the X-Men
@24:15 Still one of my favorite Sal speeches ever 😂
When I was young, I also thought Apocalypse was a reference to his weird blue lips! It's something I've unlearned. But Tiffiny brought it right back.
Narya (Snowbird) is a demigod like Hercules.
You should totally do the X-MEN WildC.A.T.S crossover. That would be fun to see.
Of course Wolverine smokes twigs. He's Canadian he's gotta smoke that maple syrup.
I saw that this posted 5 mins before I go to work. Fml must watch
One nice thing is you can get this story in essential x-men.
Days of Future Past / comic (1981)
similar premise - The Terminator (1984)
similar premise - Quantum Leap / TV Series (1989)
Days of Future Past / movie (2014)
Hilarious episode guys! Way to kick off the first Back Issues of the ComicPOP era. This had my co-workers giving me dirty looks as I couldn't help laughing out loud multiple times during the video.
Love revisiting these old eps🤘🏾
A Nightcrawler/Nightwing crossover would make a lot of sense now that I think about it
Very fun back issues guys , keep up great work
48:00 - Yep! That's the man I married.
Hey, nice LootCrate shirt, Tiffany! Also, was I the only person super stoked about the S.H.I.E.L.D. lanyard? Laziest last minute cosplay ever = suit&tie+lanyard, ha ha
Woop, apparently Sal likes the hokey lanyard too
X-Men: Days of Claremont Past
Two of my favorite movies...."The Princess Bride" and "Army of Darkness" great show guys, thank you!!!
I think the only reason for the first couple issues are to explain why Cyclops isn't there.
Then they thought it would be weird if they put in the Cyclops issue, then skipped a couple issues, to get to the story, so they just put it all in.
Also, Kittie's feelings about Kurt from that one issue.
18:30 that D&D reference was godly
Sounds like the problem with this trade is that they took a two-issue story and turned it into an eight-issue collection.
@ComicPoP WAIT WAIT WAIT is Snowbird flying? because everyone knows "Snowbirds Don't Fly" lol
hey guys , luv the shows , i would really like to see all of your guys man cave collections in a show or maybe in a special , great job all of you and keep it up ,

I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how long it was gonna take for someone to pet the kitty. You should involve the kitty more....I would watch you guys talking comics and playing with the kitty...kitty.
Another change is that originally Prof. X is killed during the assassination too
Ben's logic at the end blew my mind 😂
More content. I love this channel.
Great episode, wish you would do more classic stories.
Back the frnklin was an incredibly powerful mutant with kida psychic powers... the reality warping came much much later
McButtz This is 1980, Franklin's powers weren't defined.
Don't think this is the uber powerful Franklin. Not all future version of Franklin have the same powers, they are usually connected to psychic abilities somehow though
Because it's 1980, he wasn't this powerful bsck then
Something about Charles Xavier calling himself 'Chuck' while giving himself a pep talk fucking KILLS me.
Where did Ben get that t-shirt? It says "Carbine" something on the sleeve. Looks cool. Need more info! =)
Btw, this whole episode I'm just humming that theme song. Dunna dunna daaa da da.... awesome.
Loved Tiffany in this episode
In a weird way, I kinda miss the yellow lighting overtones.
Tiffany was me the entire time "reading" DoFP. I was not sure if I was reading the right book by the end of Nightcrawler's part.
Hey guys, I would find it really cool if you can do a back issues on Avengers Arena. I really love this channel and I hope you guys keep up the amazing channel! Thanks
Mathew Garcia Thanks, Matthew! I'd love to tackle AA someday.
That'll be great, thanks for answering
I support any story where the x-men go to Canada.
I wanted to tell you this in dark phoenix episode there was a phoenix before jean grey and she had mastered the iron fist
Tiffany is slowly replacing Ethan
or has ethan never looked better? thank you Dr. Sal Frankenstein and his faithful sidekick igor or better known as just ben.
When Ben gets kicked in the balls by quicksilver 16:46
I’d love to see you guys on the Dissolution and Rebirth arc!
The novelization of the comic is fantastic

Where did u get the shield lanyard?? Its soo cool
brandovader Came in a Loot Crate box!
I remember the 1980s a great time for x men
Awesome episode! I remembered getting the trade and going " Where in the hell is Days of Future Past?". On the next Back Issues, could you guys do the latest Multiversity issue? Cause I reaaaaally wanna see your opinions on it xD
which do you guys prefer? the movie, the comic, the 90's animated series version, or wolverine and the x-men?
Love that Bizzaro mug!
hey guys, i think you should do fantastic four-future foundation by hickman, since it sets the foundation for secret wars
14:54
#bestbirthdayever
Got the jump on this weeks video! Woohoo!
8:36 I do that sometimes...
The last two minutes are the best part
Lol " thats it, sorry"
Great vid sal. I know u will never do this one but would u entertain the thought of doing a back issues on superman Shazam first thunder. :)
I would like them to do a back issues of Wolverine's X-Force
The Animated series with Gambit and Bishop relates to a cool story from 90s XMen that hasn't really been baked out as much as it needs to be with Gambit as the final Witness after all the other X-Men have been killed.
