- Hub centric? Extended lug nuts? Offset? Let me explain all about wheel spacers and how you can get the perfectly fitting wheels on your car! I’ll show you how to fit them using my Porsche 928 so you can see the end results.

My car is a 1985 Euro Porsche 928 (‘twin dizzy’). These are the exact spacers that I fitted to my car in case you want to replicate: www.pelicanpar...

Tip for those of us running teledials: I bought these very same spacers, but the teledials don't have the same relief on the back of the wheel that the manhole cover-style wheel has. The back side of the teledial doesn't have enough clearance for the nuts fastening the spacer to the hub, therefore they won't fit without modification.
I’ll pin this comment to the top so people can see it. Thanks!
@@JAYREAD I should also have mentioned that I'm talking about the 16" teledials. I don't know if the 15" versions have the same issue.
Just tried these on 16 phonedials or teledials and had the same issue. Ordered 28mm and will try those next.
Well upon closer inspection the 16" teledials/phonedials do fit with the spacers. These wheels are cast and the mating surface sits proud of the center of the wheel. This leaves a small gap but the same gap is present when mating the wheels to the rotors without spacers.
Car keeps looking better and better. Each time I am looking to switch the 928 for a 996 4s I watch a new video of you and decide to hold on to the quircky bastard 928
Hey thanks a lot! The trick is to own both, I think!
Nice mod for a very nice looking car ! - cheers from Brisbane
Cheers!
Ahh the little things that make us happy, looks good!
It’s so true! Thanks!
Much better, well done.
Nice little 928 series you did. I also went through all the quirks and fixing up on my old 84 over the course of 20 years. Ended up selling it when an enthusiast saw it and offered up. Maybe was a mistake I Do miss the car not the repair bills though..
Jay,
Happy New Year! Real car work almost always involves some swearing and (for involved work) at least a small blood sacrifice.🤣
This is the value I provide. New Anglo Saxon swear words for everyone to learn!
Looks so much better Jay, nice :) Happy New Year!
HNY, Todd! Thanks mate!
Mmmmmmmuch better Jay! We installed 245/55 S4 rims/tires on our S2 with same result. Happy new year!!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! Sorry about the first one! Happy New Year!
Great video Jay! Car looks really good.
Happy New Year!!!
See you at Werks Amelia. 👍
Happy New Year! Thank you!
I installed 24.5 m at rear (bolted) and 6 mm at front (plate). They look great and just a subtle difference at front. As mentioned in comments, 21 mm factory spacers were installed for a small period of time, also the GT had 60 mm offset at both front and back.
hi Jay, happy new year and thanks for this video
Same to you!
I have in my -85 euro manual a factory spacers and longer studs, if I remember correctly, 21mm rear. That is with standard wheels, w/ same width front and rear.
Great video
Thanks as always! Happy New Year!
Hey Jay,
Nice video thanks. One suggestion for you. If you like the manhole style wheel search out a pair of later S4 rears as they have a slight dish /rim so look more aggressive but are the same style as you have. Also work on the same offset so your spacers still work.
Cheers and happy new year.
Thanks for the tip!
Certainly looks better! Might have a detrimental impact on bearing life, hopefully insignificant?
Happy New Year!
HNY!
Beautiful Jay ! Happy New Year ! susan c
I had no idea you watched my videos! Happy New Year from me and Jude!
I wonder if there will an appreciable difference in the ride at the rear
I’ll keep you posted!
If you don’t swear, have you really worked on your car??
Exactly! HNY!
@@JAYREAD Happy New Year
.What You want a wide body?! (kidding)... my thing is "what about winter wheels and tires"? I would have been daily driving it. Or at least on nicer colder days, since letting these cars sit is bad for them.
Ha! I just wanted it SLIGHTLY wider! I did a video about my 911 with snow tires. You could check that out?
