Wow, so good to see your beast back in top form. Not sure if I commented in the past but the very first Porsche I drove in 1991 was a 928 and loved it. Ironically, 10 years later I did get my own 911...and I still have it. Great work highlighting these two outfits.
Good day from Norfolk, UK. Great to see you are back driving the 928 and as you have found out, due to your very "real" approach and attitude, it comes down to people. In Matt and Benny you have found "the affordable way" to drive your dream car. Well done Jay, enjoy and drive safe. Kind regards, Roy.
Benny is one of my friends for years grew up in the Same town every time one of my cars gets hit Or buy a new toy they all go to him. Incredible at what he does.
Benny at GGM is a good friend of mine. We grew up together. Wouldn't expect anything less from Benny than to be honest and give you the results you're looking for. I'm also little bit of a fan of the older Porsches. Wish you luck with the 928. 👍
Jay, I am so happy for you and glad to see that your dream car is back as a positive part of your life. Enjoy and drive it! …just be carefull on the roundabouts 😊
Awesome Jay, the car looks fabulous and I'm sure we're all glad you decided to keep it and get it repaired. As I stated in the past I enjoy your videos and if you're ever near the Harrisburg PA area with your 928 let me know I'd love to meet you in person and talk 928s.
I know some good fella’s up in Massachusetts who could arrange for the driver’s side of your 928 to meet up with a pole in a nearby car park if you’d like to complete your total makeover repaint project. 😉 😉 I’m glad to see your car living to see another day. Congrats.
Nice that it's back in fine shape! Still waiting for the 968 to come back from the fire. Hopefully either late this coming week or more likely the week after.
The salvage value of any car regardless of how much damage is considered 25% of retail. That's why an ins co can consider a car totaled at 75% - they can always get the 25%. Better for them to go that route and pay you to total the car out than try to fix a car that's close to 100% totaled because cost over-runs on hidden damage could put them in the hole. Most ins cos have deals with various salvage yards to buy all their totals at 25%. Sometimes the cars aren't bad, sometimes they are. It all evens out for both insurer and salvage yard. Very nice repair! Blue (esp on an old car) is not an easy color to match. And he's done it twice. Are you in a no fault state or why isn't the wayward blue car's ins not footing the bill?
Looks GREAT! Great update. Great advice. And old man middle finger pointing at the damage as a bonus! Which insurance company did you use? I'm with Hagerty right now but my car is still being worked on. It was just to get it registered.
Jay, help me understand this. The car that hit you would be liable to you for making you whole again, right? So, how is it that they can low-ball you when it comes to paying for your car to be repaired properly? Shouldn't they have to step up and make you whole no matter the cost? What am I missing???
Good question! That part isn’t yet resolved. They say it’s my fault and I say it’s their fault. Whilst the two insurance companies wrestle it out, I claim on my own insurance company and they make me whole and if they win the argument with the other side’s insurance company then that insurance company makes my insurance company whole. That make sense?
@@JAYREAD As best I can tell, you were already in the roundabout which means you have the right-of-way. I don't see how there can be any dispute about this. Good luck, let us know how this comes out. Best, -Tom
@@aboyandhisdog Unfortunately, if you look at the video closely, the 928 is in the number 1 lane which crossed over to the #2 lane to exit the turnabout while the other vehicle was in the number 2 lane, following the lane and not exiting the turnabout. Its like a vehicle making a right from the left lane while you are going straight...
Jay, the rules of a roundabout are internationally clear: you CANNOT and ARE NOT ALLOWED to enter the roundabout in the RH lane and then want to exit immidiately to the left. If in the RH lane, you can ONLY go straight or around. The other party is FULLY at fault. That is why "trip- pre-planning" is also tested when you go for your license. It is clear in the video, the other party started to hesitate, as the other party realized they wanted to turn left: but they should have gone around, and ONLY THEN exit correctly.
Ok, nice story and glad that it could be fixed. (btw. I have exactly the same car, except mine being a manual) You keep on telling about insurance, money,..etc. all the way and of course I ask myself : Well, what were finally the costs for the whole thing to be repared? Or did I miss sth.?
You were upset last video you were thinking of getting rid of it. I know right where this shop is, I took my 280ZX there and they were not very enthusiastic to help me at all. Found a better place that made my car look new again. I guess I need a RUclips channel to get attention.
Glad she is back together! Excellent work by the body shop.
I’m SO GLAD you got it fixed! Your guy Benny did a brilliant job!
Looks really good mate! Very happy you got it sorted.
Amazing fix Jay. Keep on keeping on with the 928!
Thanks! Yup!
Wow Jay. GGM did a fantastic job. I hope you continue to have many happy miles.
They really did and thank you! ❤️
Benny at GGM is the man! Great guy and top notch work
100% and it would never have happened if it wasn’t for you, Shawn. Thank you. ❤️
Nice job. Glad you fixed it. And it's nice you found a good body repair guy in Benny.
Glad to see it back on the road and looking great!

Thanks! ❤️
Pure craftmenship, congratz on the second lease of life for this beautiful 928!
Thank you! ❤️
Lovely looking repair and outcome 😎👍
Good body shop´s are rare ( most here struggle with too much work so they raise their prices ). Congrats finding that awesome dude / bodyshop!
Benny = LEGEND
So glad you're keeping it and got it fixed! The body shop owner seems like a really good guy.

Benny is one of my friends for years grew up in the Same town every time one of my cars gets hit Or buy a new toy they all go to him. Incredible at what he does.

That is awesome! I think it’s great your determination to save the car. 928’s are very special and need to survive!
100%! My sons would kill me if the 928 left!

Awesome job!!! So happy to see your blue shark back in former glory🎉🎉🎉
Thanks! Me too! ❤️
Yey excellent work Jay, I guess that's a firm no on the Allegro then 😂
I think we shouldn’t dismiss the idea, Matt, but perhaps put it on the back burner for now and revisit the idea at some later stage? ❤️
Amazing!! So glad it’s fixed!
Looks great
Keep Benny close! It is very hard to find a good Honest body shop..... and the parts guy also !
Yup. Benny is a legend.
Delighted for you Jay.
Thank you!
Good show, bang on...I meant keep calm & carry on! (No more banging with the 928 🤞) 😁
Congratulations!🎉
Thank you!

Bahahaha! Not sure my insurance company would like that! ❤️

I have my fingers crossed for you! ❤️
When a car sounds like that you have to keep it :) nice work!
It’s true, Todd! Thanks mate!
Awesome! Glad you saved it!
Couldn’t not save it. No way Nicole allow myself! ❤️
Looks Great!
Well done!
I might have to stop by and check this car out some time. Just don't see too many 928s out there anymore.
Not enough!
Looking good 👍🏻
Ahhh she looks so good
Are you going to FRENZY this weekend!?!?! All the cool kids will be there
Not ALL the cool kids because I can’t make it! Have fun though!

The liability hasn’t been resolved yet. Just claiming on my insurance and letting the duke that out with the other side.
Looks GREAT! Great update. Great advice. And old man middle finger pointing at the damage as a bonus! Which insurance company did you use? I'm with Hagerty right now but my car is still being worked on. It was just to get it registered.
Chubb. Happy to hear the painting was helpful. Thought it would be. Haha!
Yay great news!
Really is! ❤️

Ha thanks! No, you didn’t miss it. I didn’t put the number in the video. It was a little over $7k.
YESSSS!!!!!🎉
Yessssssssssss!

Not my experience and I’m only a tiny channel.
🥳
That exhaust is very dronnnnnney. The 928 looks great again.
Not really. It’s louder but not drony at all actually. I did an 11.5 hour journey in it in the summer and no worries at all. Look great right? ❤️
Is the seat restoration next?
Yes🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yesssssss! ❤️❤️❤️
👍
Get the car written off
Buy back for a ridiculous low amount of money and get repairs done your self 🎉
Watch the video!
8:18 - 75% of 12K = 9K NOT 8K !!!! It’s obvious now that you work in insurance…..😂
Hahaha! Oops. Maths never was my strong suit, you’re right!
Shut your eyes and it's Louis Theroux
Haha! You’re not the first!
Great car but your a bit of a plum
I think you’ll find it’s ‘you’re’.
Look for Los Angeles junkyard for parts. If you drive to San Diego and cross to Tijuana Mexico, you can get it fixed for less than $1000.
