A V-10 sounds sick if they elongated the front like the Ferrari 365gts "Daytona" especially if they made convertibles I think they would have looked amazing.
The story of my life. I get alot of calls on 928 work, and guess what?!!?, its always just like John is saying, they are NEVER running. "Ive got an 85 928 that hasnt run in 8 years" I get this kind of call 7-10 times a month. Not my bag, but Im actually excited to see what the happens with these 4. Sweet video John!!
I bought my “cheap” 928 S4 and spent 5 years doing all the things to make my dream car, full mechanical refresh, paint, interior, etc. Finally starting to just enjoy the car. Feel like I’ve seen this movie and really looking forward to watching John and team do the same for our entertainment. Much more entertaining when its someone else’s wallet and sweat equity.
Was worried you’d been crushed by a 6 wheeled Range Rover. Glad to see that’s not the case! Your automotive history knowledge and storytelling are second to none on RUclips. I’m excited to learn more about the 928; what to me seems an under appreciated Porsche.
Our neighbor growing up had the “cool dad” and he drove a 928 when they first came out. After three years he traded it in for a DeLorean, his wife left soon after…. Glad to get another video from the best storyteller on RUclips.
I absolutely love the Porsche 928. I fell in love with it at first sight, back as a kid in the early 80's. It's my all time dream car. I'd rather have a 928 than any other multi-million dollar hypercar. I hope to one day have more 928's than anyone else. I would also like to do for the 928, what Singer did for the 964. Thank you.
I fell in love at first sight too when it first came out in the last 70's and seeing it in movies like Scarface, Looker and Risky Business. Love the cloth checker board interior. Leather is overrated.
A new Ficarra video! Man I thought we lost you. Thanks for the inside look at the fleet! I've got a video idea that I'm hoping you'll dig: What about a Canepa tour hosted by John Ficarra. Not just here's this car and there's that one, but the little known details and hidden stories that could only be told by both a fan and historian that used to work there! Whatever you decide to film and post, we'll be here eagerly awaiting the next one.
Dude, I'm totally envious, haha. Wish someone would call me up and give me a car with seats like your freebie car... What a score! You should see the ones in my 84.
Not a problem, love the 928. It was the first Porsche I ever sat in and made me fall in love with the Brand. I've owned a few 911's, but I can't wait to own my first 928.
YES! Finally my hopes/prayers are answered and my favorite VinWiki storyteller/Porschefile is BACK with more content! Thanks John! Welcome back! BTW...this can be red.
Oh hell I want to follow your build series on this, my father had a 79 manual when I was in high school, I loved that car, he didn't keep it long enough for me to take it anywhere except down the driveway a few times, I bought a GTS & drive it regularly, Rj in Oz
I think the correct ratio of 928s is actually 4:1 because only one of the 4 tends to be in fully working order at a time. The other 3 simply serve to keep the one functioning at all times.
Looking forward to this series - I'm a big an of the 928. My family lived in (West) Germany in the late 70s / early 80s and I can recall stopping in a serivce staiton on the autobahn and a metallic brown 928 with a fruity exhaust rumbled in next to our family saloon. It must have had an aftermarket exhaust because it sounded epic. Even my mum who wasn't into cars commented on how great it sounded! A thought on the brakes. If it were my car I'd mae every effort to keep the original wheels - going up in diameter and fitting lower profile tyres will cmpromise the aesthetics in my view. Maybe look into modern pads / discs or even a dual caliper setup (a la Bentley) to retain the small discs and wheels?
Friend had a 928 GTS. He flew it over a curb and crashed it into a house corner, had to evade a left turning car in the same direction (totally his fault btw). Nobody got hurt, only car was totaled and he got some silent schadenfreude from some onlookers
This is great, I’ve loved this car from the first time I ever saw it way back in the 70’s in London, I was a paper boy delivering newspapers very early in the morning in an area that happened to be very upmarket, a job I had before going to school, i was so mesmerised by this metallic light blue space ship that I’d glance around me to check no one was looking and actually touch this gorgeous work of art, imagining that is was from the future 🛸 I’m so looking forward to this project unfolding, good luck and thank you for sharing this opportunity.
I own a 1983 928s black on black with rare manual and BBS wheels ...barn find but in good condition otherwise. It was supercharged with a stage 1 kit from 928 Motorsport in Wisconsin. The interior has original leather in great condition . Original alternator was actually defective and was replaced by a high performance one from 928 Motorsport. ...love that car ..very solid and well made. Wins awards at car shows.
Love the passion for the 928 but the silver Euro 1978 is clearly not as penned by the designer as it has a front chin spoiler that would not have been on the car when built. The front chin spoiler was released with the S model in 1980 and likely would have been added by a previous owner in the ‘80’s to make it look like the current model.
I bought my first 928 two years ago and I now have 5. 3 are road registered and another one should pass inspection in October. The last one is more of a project car. Great video.
That blue (Petroleum Blau) is my favourite 928 colour. You're right about the sunroof 924s/944s sunroofs are a better solution - only leaves a frame when removed - though perhaps 928 owners don't want the bother of manually removing the roof. The tilt is electric though.
7 years i have had my 928 and it is still a work in progress - always makes me feel better when i see other peoples projects 😂👍 1984 S2 Manual (UK) - I should have bought a parts car….
Aged 9 or 10, I got a plastic model for Christmas that I spent the holidays on assembling, reading the story of the car as I built it. That cemented my love for Porsches, albeit when the time came to buy my first Porsche, I took the sensible route and got a beautiful -90 964 C4 that I still own to this day 9 yrs later alongside 2 other P-cars. I still find the transaxle Porsches irresistibly beautiful to look at and an itch I need to scratch. Hopefully a manual GTS in amethyst with a black interior💜 I also have an inexplicable craving for a pristine 924 Turbo 2 or a Carrera S as I find the petite 924 the prettiest of all transaxles. The 944 I can’t stand the look of, but the 968 very intriguing as the last iteration of the lineage.
Love seeing you back John! The passion and the knowledge, easily the best auto youtuber online! Just wish we could see you more frequently, but I get why we can't, these projects take time
John has one of the very best sense of automotive humor. Now wasn’t the 928 known for 2 very strategic concepts. The first and most obvious being the 911 replacement? And the second being the cars the Porsche engineers thought was either single most technically advanced or the car the engineers were most proud? It may be rumored. But rings a bell somehow.
John, great video on your favorite Porsche of all time ('78 928) ! Fun description of each car and finishing with a short history of the 928 was fun & entertaining to watch, for sure . Best of luck on your future projects, Essy Fariab
There was a little more as 928 was S , S2,S3, S4... S2 HAD better brakes but 8V heads and S3 had big brakes and 32V... And very quickly they came to S4 with minor bodywork changes
So sad that you are planning to use the petrol blue 928 as a parts car! This is my dream 928 - perfect color combo, Euro car, imported by the first owner who maintained it well (I knew him). Too bad the subsequent owner neglected it. 😢 Still, this could be a beautiful car again. I’d send it to 928 Classics for a full resto!
For years I saw a 928 sitting next to a building inside a fenced area. Side windows were down through all kinds of weather. Then it got moved to the back of the property. Pine trees started growing around it. I’m assuming it’s still there but it’s no longer visible.
I just drove a 78' 5 speed recently. I was actually surprised how balanced and good it felt. Love these. John selling any parts? I have an 81' that I'm considering.
I've been working on my own 9:28 we're about 12-15 years because I could not find anyone to work on it so I had to do it all myself a videotaped it and it's on RUclips but I would love to come over and fix all of yours
You guys are great! Thanks for the encouragement. More shop and history videos coming. I promise!
No, you're great! Thanks for the video!
brilliant, and one of your 928's can be red...
Love your videos so far keep up the great work.
Glad to see you back.
A V-10 sounds sick if they elongated the front like the Ferrari 365gts "Daytona" especially if they made convertibles I think they would have looked amazing.
Can't wait to follow along!
The story of my life. I get alot of calls on 928 work, and guess what?!!?, its always just like John is saying, they are NEVER running. Finally an upload!! We need more FiCARra in our lives!! ❤😊
YES! MOAR JOHN! Nothing as good as a lil Ficarra!
I bought my “cheap” 928 S4 and spent 5 years doing all the things to make my dream car, full mechanical refresh, paint, interior, etc. Finally starting to just enjoy the car. They are the greatest driving mobiles

Yay! A new Ficarra video! We've missed you!
Our neighbor growing up had the “cool dad” and he drove a 928 when they first came out. After three years he traded it in for a DeLorean, his wife left soon after…. Glad to get another video from the best storyteller on RUclips.
I currently have both. Lol.
@@euroasianbob9268 somehow that doesn’t surprise me.
@@judsonr1 lol.
@@euroasianbob9268 but do you have a 1969 Formula 400 Firebird with a manual transmission? I sold mine and have regretted it for 40 years now.
The neighbor with the 928, then the DeLorean suffered from AIDS : Automotive Induced Divorce Syndrome
Porsche 928’s, an awesome dog and a John Ficarra. What else could you ask for.
A girlfriend had an one in high school, such an amazing ride and she drove it like she stole it... so much fun!!! John, you rock! keep 'em coming!
Glad to see the channel back!
glad to have you back to youtube again john. looking forward to your new contents and stories
It's always a good day when you get a John Ficarra upload!!!
I absolutely love the Porsche 928. I fell in love with it at first sight, back as a kid in the early 80's. It's my all time dream car. Good luck with this project and selling the leftovers. Big fan of the 928
Damn, you really do have a dream place right there. Plenty of space for cars, a workshop, and in some beautiful wilderness. Mad jealous.
I can't wait to see you take those cars apart and make your dream 928. What an awesome car.
A new Ficarra video! Man I thought we lost you. Thanks for the inside look at the fleet! I've got a video idea that I'm hoping you'll dig: What about a Canepa tour hosted by John Ficarra. The channel lives! We need more stories!
Thanks John this looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
The upcoming 928 lessons are something I look forward to watching.
must be a Gen’Xer thing because I friggin love the 928! You go bud, cant wait to see it come along.
Dude, I'm totally envious, haha. Wish someone would call me up and give me a car with seats like your freebie car... What a score! You should see the ones in my 84.

Thanks, John!
Only car guys know! Great introduction video! Can't wait!
I have heard these cars are so well made that rebuilding them is one of the hardest restorations. They are completely lovely.
5 years maybe? I look forward to it. John is a busy man and these have been sitting for 2 years min.
Dad taught me to drive stick in his S4. Love a dogleg. I’m psyched for your build!
The 1979 colour really is pretty. Exciting stuff up ahead!
Excellent overview John. Excited to see the build come together!
Thank you for the video! I'm looking forward to the builds! Cheers
YES! Finally my hopes/prayers are answered and my favorite VinWiki storyteller/Porschefile is BACK with more content! Thanks John! Welcome back! BTW...this can be red.
Your a dam good story teller. If you do another lemons race do a series on the prep and race. That would be a complete blast. Thanks.
Thank you John. I love the 928, but I love all porsche...
Great to see you posting again!

Gotta love John Ficarra diving deep into 928 lore!
I love me a 928
That seat fabric and design is just so perfect for the time.
Cool vid! I am a fan of the 928, especially a manual with the Pasha interior. I look forward to seeing how this plays out. 😉
Well done John, love the early 928! Thanks for the history lesson!!
Holy handgrenade! That first pasha interior! Now I'm grateful that mine has lived in the UK all it's life.
Huge fan of your videos, your enthusiasm and knowledge are so engaging, all of your videos are informative and fun to watch. Keep it going!
Happy your back
Damn I would buy them all too lol. Going to be a fantastic series

I drove one for 19 years and it never stranded me once-
Cool cars but that piece of property seems amazing!!! I'm a sucker for them pasha interiors
Thanks for the new content. I listen to your VinWiki stories all the time. Please be unselfish and share more stories with us, it is truly a service.

"I get home and there is a message on my machine." Wow, John really loves 70s and the 80s.
Love your storytelling, you could do a video on just about any thing and I'd watch! Porsche are the bomb.
Finally! Keep the videos coming, I can't wait how this turns out!
Great video John, thanks for sharing, can't wait to see how it all progresses!
Friend had a 928 GTS. He flew it over a curb and crashed it into a house corner, had to evade a left turning car in the same direction (totally his fault btw). Nobody got hurt, only car was totaled and he got some silent schadenfreude from some onlookers
I worked on a 77…it was awesome. Yes there were 200 ‘77 prototypes.
I own #98 there were only 10-12 press cars. The first 150-200 production cars were Euro spec. Then US spec cars started

Love seeing you back John! The passion and the knowledge, easily the best auto youtuber online! Just wish we could see you more frequently, but I get why we can't, these projects take time

Huh?
Looking forward to following along... Mike

Glad you’re back!
Great video. I lust after your '85 because of the color and 5 spd.
Corvette had enclosed bumpers before Porsche. Front in '73, rear in '74.
Haha you have a 928 challenge😊 really love these landsharks!
John Ficarra and Matty Mathenson are my SPIRIT ANIMALS. 🤘
That was a great video!
Magic…you should review the 95 GTS…
Looking forward to videos on this. Love your enthusiasm for them and absolutely love 928s
Great video, I am doing the same thing with first gn Boxsters. Good luck!
Very cool video
Subbed! Ciao from Italy
Saw a 928S on 85S today about 2:45pm today 4/26/23

Hard to dump 30-40k into an automatic 😢 unless you prefer them
You should do a video about the history of the 924, 928, 944 and 968
For years I saw a 928 sitting next to a building inside a fenced area. Side windows were down through all kinds of weather. Then it got moved to the back of the property. Pine trees started growing around it. I’m assuming it’s still there but it’s no longer visible.

928s were incredible sports cars. Not sure why they stopped making them.
Just liked and subscribed, two projects, two parts cars, let the money torching begin😅
Until you pass the Sultan, you are good. 😂😂😂
