Sounds amazing. The exhaust from the headers back looks great as well. I cannot wait for a future episode with the new dyno results! I was on the msds site looking at a set for my ‘84 928. May have to copy this greatness!
The new exhaust sounds Grrreat! Yesterday while out riding my bicycle , I began noticing 928s everywhere. When I got home, I went on Facebook marketplace and found several "Parts" cars in the $1K range. I live near Lake Michigan, so I checked in CT. I found the same thing! Even better, one was the same color as your 928. I am thinking that it might not break the bank to have your car fixed. Good luck
@JAYREAD , 15% is generally close for a manual trans , but the auto trans is not as efficient and should be more like 20% power-train loss . basically , 310hp x .8 = 248 rwhp . your car is putting out apprx 236 rwhp . so not much loss from brand new . And , dyno's vary, and are really best suited to establish a starting point , and then compare gains and losses for modifications measured on same dyno each time. Love your car , and you are a great guy . thanks for sharing your journey with the 928 susan c
@@JAYREAD i have owned my 84 928S for over 20 years , it is a US Version 5 speed , in 2007 i had euro S2 cams installed , MSDS headers, and had the L-Jet dyno tuned , my car has 151,000 miles . currently puts down 230 rwhp and 252 rwtq . @JAYREAD, what was your torque values ? i am guessing about the same as my car
It would be interesting to get the car back on the dyno to see the effect of the new exhaust before installing the chip etc. While there’s a degree of interaction between the various upgrade components so that the full potential of the exhaust might not yet be realised, it would be of interest when assessing relative bang for buck. Oh, and Jay from the future should go back and tell Jay from the past to avoid that collision. Or maybe Jay from even further in the future could tell Jay of the present what happened with the insurance and repair? Hopefully he will have good news!

Always loved the 928, my favorite is the 928 GTS. Only things I would do is convert the engine to a Haltech EFI, full exhaust, distributorless ignition and a Whipple supercharger. 6-8 psi is 500 whp and it will live a bazillion years.
I think the new exhaust has unleashed some extra ponies and it definitely sounds way better. Did you remember to add a K&N air filter for better intake?!?
Wow, Jay your new exhaust sounds fabulous and like a high end super car. I may have to put something like that on my 87 S4 once i get to that point in its restoration. Love your videos and sorry to hear and watch the videos on the crash. Hopefully the insurance comes thru and gets your beautiful 928 repaired. Best wishes..looking forward to part 2.

Beautiful exhust system setup and amazing sound. I was on the MSDS website looking for my 87 S4. Could you please share the model number for the muffler? there are several models for Boral XR1 series.
Not sure honestly! Borla XR1 is all I was told. Here’s Tony’s phone number at Pro Automotive in CT that did all the work. He’ll know. 203 723 7985. I recommend him and the muffler very strongly. I’m still smiling at what we created here every time I start the car!
What is the in cabin noise like just cruising and speed limits in drive? As in is there any drone? Was that a conversation you had with the exhaust guy when planning? Great sound now. Is buying your car back as a repairable write off a thing? Maybe add a wide body kit.
Noise inside is fine. Enjoyable even! Yes, we talked about it. Honestly, Tony knows his stuff so I didn’t need to dwell on things that are obvious to him. Stay tuned on the damage! News soon!

@@JAYREAD I sold mine here in Devon a couple of years ago, a regrettable decision, it was the one that got away. Damn! Looking forward to future videos, thanks for everything so far.

The best performance upgrade is to sell the 928 S4 auto slug box & buy either a manual 5 speed GTS, an S4 GT or Clubsport. The auto is old slug box & is more suited for little old granny’s that don’t know how to use a manual, like most Americans. You’re wasting a lot of time, effort & money, including reducing the sale value of your car with these mods, which could’ve gone to towards the purchase of a later model & much better 928. Aftermarket chips are “old school” in the tuning world & a complete waste of money compared to a professional dyno custom tune. You could have gotten the same sound effects just by removing the cat, resonator & fitting an aftermarket high flow muffler. But all these mods are pointless & will only show minimal improvements if you do not have a custom tune. In addition, to get the maximum potential gains out of these mods, one would have the heads ported & gas-flowed with the exhaust port matched ported to the new exhaust manifold port. There is no point in just focusing at one end of the exhaust. You need to also look at both the inlet & exhaust for maximum efficiency gains.
Keep the little girl, Jay. looking forward for part 2. But give me some personal advice Jay .... how do I keep the wife happy when i invest time and $$$$in my car?
