We can tell by the look in your eyes, that Portugal and the portuguese really left a mark in you. I wish you well, and hope that you'll come back some day!
I've lived in Portugal for three years before moving to Spain. Spanish food is good, but the thing I miss the most from Portugal is the food and the people.
I listened and laughed. I was in Coimbra and asked a young college student if he knew where the hostel I was staying at. You're right, he took me all the way to the front door and asked if I needed any other help. I was so surprised. People are helpful, extremely educated on macro economics as well as most speaking 3-4 languages. Pastries are good, food is great, people are nice. I would recommend anyone to go and experience Portugal.
I'm portuguese and I think that sometimes our people tend to forget that we're actually a good country, full of nice individuals. And the fact that foreigners enjoy our company and cultural values is the complete proof :) I'm so happy that this young man enjoyed his time in here and that he got to know about our history and culture. Hope he comes back!
You just made my day. I‘m sitting in my house in switzerland dreaming about going to portugal after 5 years of hard work in switzerland and you just gave me pure emotions..This little things you think of everyday as portuguese, the people, even the smell of air. I always had tears when arriving portugal due to my memories as a child there. This video just gave me a little portugal in my house. I wish everyone the best and for those who left their country for a better life even their childs, stay strong whereever you coming from. You‘re heros! For those who stayed in the country and fought everyday for there daily bread. Thank you for keeping traditions and portugal as a whole. O gente da minha terraa❤️
Yes it's true, I asked a young guy in Lisbon for direction he literally walk me to the address. It was my first day in Lisbon and I was super surprised!!!
:) yeah... we do that. i already did that too. By car and by walking. And you know what? Feels good to help so that one day your first memory will be precisely the one you just told us above. And that makes us happy.. by the simple fact it makes us also proud.
Honestly this video just made me smile, as a Portuguese we often forget about the good things we have because we work hard on everything and hardly get recognized, hell even some Americans think Portugal is a part of Spain, some of our pride comes from everything we've worked for, we didn't take freebies, we built our mary way every step of the way not taking anything for granted it shows in most of the Portuguese people life style. You explained every detail of our lifestyle incredibly accuratly, from getting our daily bread to just chilling with our friends drinking and eating sardinhas. Be sure to come back anytime you want, come experience the middle of Portugal and the inside areas as well, not just the cultural north and the south, some obscure villages in the inside areas can really open your eyes and make you see how beutiful our country really is If you do get feed bacalhau(codfish) whilst being hosted by a Portuguese family, consider yourself lucky and finish the god damn plate, because of our pride if you dont finish the plate we might think that there was something wrong with it and it sucked and we will most likely be sad. We aren't just "Cristiano Ronaldo's country". Nós somos Portugal caralho.
A donut filled with goodness 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 couldn’t agree more, bolas de berlim are heaven! Seeing him talking about my country made me smile a lot! Only Portuguese people can actually see the struggles and the bad sides in living here (that’s true for every native of any country) and we often forget that we have beautiful and good things too. Thank you, obrigado, for making videos like this. It reminded me to always be proud of the little things that makes me a Portuguese 👍🏽🇵🇹♥️
I work with americans all day and there are people that don’t know that Portugal is not Spain. Seeing this video left me very happy! You explained everything about us and our culture beautifully and all perfectly accurate. Thank you! Come back soon.
This guy made a very accurate description of Portugal and our way of life. Congrats! His portuguese is very good, clearly more of a Brazillian Portuguese than a Portuguese Portuguese (nothing against it), but very good for an American.
Respect! This young man should be a role model for its appreciation and respect for other countries and cultures. It’s people like you that make our dedication to tourists worthwhile. You sir, are welcome anytime!
I'm from the Netherlands, moved to Lisboa 7 months ago. I'm 18 years old and honestly best decision I've ever made. It's the most relaxed country to widen your view about life.
Same, been there done that... So many times! For years now living in Norway. Rarely done it, because here, Human contact is kept to a bare minimum. But on the very rare occasion the opportunity or need came by. I took (drive) someone to the right place. By offering a car ride. The amazement and surprise transpired by the bunch! Usually end with the question - Where are you from? Answered with a flat "Portugal". One of the occasions, it was a woman and I just realized later what probably was on her mind! So I drove her to where she wanted to go. She open the door and walked out and that's it, end of story! But I guess she was suspicious of my "intentions"! LOL 😂 Because here (normally) she would be left in the middle of the road and obliged to walk by herself... But I couldn't leave her on the road under a really nasty snow storm! I simply couldn't. Don't even talk about opening the door to a lady... I've got, at least twice, a few really rude answers. For opening the door!! Yep! I was between shocked and mesmerized! For doing what my father taught me when I was about 10, now over 50! The first time it happened I was "welcomed" with a dry & rude "I've got hands!!" sentence. Yep! I was shocked.
i love how educated he is in our history and our culture, it’s just so amazing, and i didn’t know this was the “vibe” we gave off, it’s pretty amazing to hear him talk about portuguese people this way
Este homem literalmente falou com o coração. E emocionou se no final. Vi nos olhos dele. Falou de nós com tanto amor e admiração. Serás sempre bem-vindo à nossa pequena, humilde mas linda terra de seu nome Portugal.
Oh man! This video made me cry!! Sometimes, we, Portuguese forget how incredible our country is!! I'm crying of Happiness!! And the happiness of this guy! Jesus!! He came to Portugal as American, and left as a Portuguese!! We wait for your return!!
I was shocked when he talked about Brisa. I'm from Madeira and it is amazing. Portugal is Incredible. But So is this gentleman. This was fascinating to watch, he knew every single detailed (I bet the Portuguese people he met wouldn't shut up about it) 😂😂 I guess we are very prideful because we work hard for our glories but they hardly get recognise. Maybe if they did we wouldn't work as hard. But I'm glad he enjoyed Portugal, thank you so much for explaining everything so well. It is so nice to see someone talking so passionately our country. Portugal will be waiting for his return for sure 😊. Next time you go to Madeira go to Pico do Arieiro at 6 to see the stars and the sunrise above the clouds. Also try some Espada Preta, Nikita and Poncha from Câmara De Lobos. I wish you all the best. Much love from Portugal.
Man, being a portuguese watching this video, the things you said and how you described our country really warms my heart, you will always be welcome in Portugal. I wish you well
This video warmed my heart so much, I never realized how foreigners thought about us, I'm Portuguese myself and never realized how polite we were myself haha
Just one thing. "Bolas de berlim" dont have the same stuff inside has the "Pastel de nata." Inside of a "Bola de berlim" normally there is sweet egg cream.
Just a correction, in Portugal there are two statues of the Christ the King, one in Lisbon as mentioned in the video, and the other in Madeira, opened in October 1927, this being the oldest statue in the world in honor of Jesus Christ.
It was such a pleasant experience for me, a Portuguese man, to watch this interview. He explains Portugal much better than most Portuguese, including me.
This made me laugh and made me emotional. I am a portuguese living in England and so do really understand your feelings and love how you have such a deep understanding on culture, and how you talk about the entire country from North to South and Islands. It is so noticeable that you loved to be there and it really made a good impression on you and I am oh so happy for you. Have shared this video even though I don't normally do that much, but it truly is too good to not be shared
From a portuguese guy, you nailed well the feel of our country, grats to you, you depicted us pretty well, but next time, dont forget to try the francesinha and beer in porto eheheh, bestwishes to you ;)
Thank you for the video. As a Portuguese guy, I guarantee he saw and learned a lot from our country, and his testimony brings a lot of truth. I hope he comes back and travels more, specially to the north. In the smaller towns, we still have a house lifestyle instead of apartments, and a lot of green space. The humbleness of people here is amazing, even for me, who grew here. Also, we always want to make you eat and drink, or at least have fun and party, and we can't take a no to those requests! Btw, he has a very good Portuguese accent, cheers to that!
awww man this was such a sweet description i'm sure all portuguese will find this video heartwarming! It's so awesome that he took the time to find so much about Portugal and our traditions and always being so polite. Obrigada :)
As a portuguese, I feel proud of my country. Just knowing that someone had a great experience here and loved the food, it just makes me smile. #PortuguesePride
Vivo em Madrid e sou da Madeira. Fiquei com um sorriso na cara como um parvo quando ele falou da “Brisa”. Como é lindo o nosso país ❤️ orgulhoso de ser português
Congratulations, everything you said is pretty much on point. Actually, you've spent 90% of the time talking about food, can't get more Portuguese than that
it is so good to hear people talking well about portugal that despite being small geographically, it is a country full of culture, gastronomy, and diversity. much love from Portugal
It was amazing to watch your eyes smilling while speaking of us!!! Everyone can notice that your eyes felt FADO at the end when you start saying you miss your portuguese friends... Muito Obrigado!!!
What a big sensation sir !! In this times I cry everyday for not can comeback to my own country and see my son and living that gps life !! Thank you for living good moments there
Algorythm sent me out here and I clicked out of curiosity. Wonderful look at our country, so accurate and packed with our day to day minutia. Loved it!
Love this guy, like someone said in the comments, he´s half Portuguese :) You can clearly see the fascination he has about our country. Thank you for coming here and don´t forget to come back.
Very humbled about how you felt about Portugal Sometimes we get really caught up in all the bad things to complain about, but we do have many qualities to speak for, and it's really nice when someone from outside can recognize them
I believe Portugal is the number 1 producer of cork worldwide. In terms of monuments, we have Convento and Palácio de Mafra (search it), which is a huge church/king's residence that has one of the richest libraries in the world and huge bells that are being renovated (it is said the sound of the bells playing can be heard 50kilometres away), this building was in the list to be one of the world's 7 wonders. In Sintra there is also a nice Palácio (da Pena), in Braga the Bom Jesus, and a lot more
What an intelligent and kind young man. I've never saw a foreigner describe Portugal's culture, food, landscape, people and language so well. It's only possible by someone that really likes to meet and interact with people and immerse himself in the culture and the language. Obrigado e também espero que a vida te traga muita felicidade!
SOUP! yes!!! thank you for recognizing the amazingness of our soup edit: i am very impressed that this guy knows so much about the country. it shows that he really immersed himself in the culture! plus, he's adorable. made me tear up at some point
We deffo proud asf 😂 this video makes me so happy I’m out here likee yeeessss an American talking about Portugal 🇵🇹 Loved this video specially when he started speaking portuguese 😍
You are amazing, with a soft and warm heart.😊 Yes indeed, Portugal and the Portuguese people live a deep touch in people’s heart and in them stomach as well..😂😂 My husband was English and he always had found the time to go to Portugal every year. He didn’t like the Spanish people but he had loved everything about Portugal 🇵🇹 He was so in love that we bought a peace of land to build a house not far from Monchique in Algarve. But he couldn’t make his dream , he died at the age 37 years old.😢 Anyway you had described very well many things about the people, the country, and the food.👏👏😍 But i think you have missed lots of beautiful and amazing things and events as well. And the best way to do it is to search in every town or city the events every year and what date.😊 You have missed also Sintra the castle and the palaces . Is an magnificent and magic area, you need at least one week to be able to see all the palace , castle, and Sintra itself. 🥰❤️ Wish from my heart that you have the chance to go back and cary on to enjoy beautiful Portugal. I have got amazing and very deep in my heart memories from USA 🇺🇸 and my dear friend and her family. From Alabama .🥰❤️ Yes in USA 🇺🇸 is everything biiiig.😂😂 Compare to Portugal.🥰🌹
I am just here to remember everyone thar at 1755 most of the city was destroyed from a hearthquake, followed by a tsunami and then the whole city burned. The amount of palaces and churches destroyed was huge.

Funchal is calling ❤️ É um orgulho ouvir alguém de um país tão grande como os EUA, falar de uma ilha tão pequenina como a Madeira com tanta "felicidade" e ainda fazer referência à melhor bebida do mundo, que é regional. A Brisa! Ao nosso picado e ao grande CR7! Orgulho! ❤️❤️
I’m from Madeira island and lived in Uk for thirty years, I’m back in Portugal 🇵🇹 since last summer. Listening to this America gentlemen made me even more proud to be Portuguese. Wish you all the best and come back soon.

Lifey I’m a Portuguese citizen! Everyone loves Portugal!!!
he said chouriço really well, he's like half portuguese, if you say chouriço u have portugal in you.
I've never even heard any foreigner say chouriço, they always say sausage. That was really cool! (yah sou tuga)
Him: Says something about Portugal
Me: *Happy Portuguese noises*
I cried listen to you. Men, we Portuguese people tend to forget the paradise we live in. Obrigado 🙏🏼❤️🇵🇹
the way he can't stop smiling while talking about portugal.. my heart🥺
As a Portuguese I must say, this guy knows exactly what he's talking about... the accuracy its pretty strong. He knows every detail of our lifestyle!
The fact that everyone is writing in English even when obviously they are Portuguese❤️ I wish everyone in Europe was like that.
thx man it's simple we just like it to be easy to talk with us
"The Portuguese life is a humble life" is probably one of the most accurate things I've ever heard
The way he sais "we", including himself as a portuguese kinda warms me up.
We can tell by the look in your eyes, that Portugal and the portuguese really left a mark in you. I wish you well, and hope that you'll come back some day!

I'd buy bread for this man, every day!
He's such a kind and observing person.
Hope all is well. Portugal awaits your return.
I love the way he sometimes says "we" when talking about Portugal, like he is a part of us
I'm from Amsterdam and I've been living in Lisboa for 7 months now and I agree with everything you said.. Portuguese people are the best!! 💜
I've never seen a smile like that when someone's talking about portugal
If only we had good politicians as well..this would be Paradise.
Yes
11:06 watch how he says "WE have one in Portugal". Welcome to the family my man, you're already Portuguese
Im portuguese, but it was while listening to him that i realized we are the real life hobbits

Ele veio como Americano e foi embora como Portugues
He came as an American and left as a Portuguese

We aren't just "Cristiano Ronaldo's country". Nós somos Portugal caralho.
Allways saying '' Bacaliau'', I love the way no one can say ''Bacalhau''. The tongue movement
Brazilian living in Australia here, visited Portugal last October and couldn’t agree more, what a fantastic country! 🙌 can’t wait to be back
A donut filled with goodness 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 couldn’t agree more, bolas de berlim are heaven!

Tens toda a razão, Melly às vezes é preciso vir um outsider para perceber-mos o quão bonita é a nossa terrinha.
The 1st time I eat a donut it was a big disappointment I was expecting something similar as a "bola de berlim" ....not even near

"If you go to Portugal you gotta try one drink..."
I thought he was going to say Licor Beirão 😂
I work with americans all day and there are people that don’t know that Portugal is not Spain. Seeing this video left me very happy! You explained everything about us and our culture beautifully and all perfectly accurate. Thank you! Come back soon.
I couldn't have put it any other way. My man representing Portugal, I'm so proud to be Portuguese and have Portuguese blood. FORÇA PORTUGAL!!!
This guy made a very accurate description of Portugal and our way of life. Congrats!
His portuguese is very good, clearly more of a Brazillian Portuguese than a Portuguese Portuguese (nothing against it), but very good for an American.
I am rounding up my study in Portugal. 5 days left in Bragança, and I’ll be heading home. I will miss this country 😢
I'm portuguese and that just brought a tear to my eye. Take care you beautiful human being
Respect! This young man should be a role model for its appreciation and respect for other countries and cultures.
It’s people like you that make our dedication to tourists worthwhile.
You sir, are welcome anytime!
"WE (major emphasis on the WE!!!) have a Cristo Rei..." He's been converted!!! Portugal truly is an amazing country.
I'm from the Netherlands, moved to Lisboa 7 months ago. I'm 18 years old and honestly best decision I've ever made. It's the most relaxed country to widen your view about life.
Opa, very cool you enjoyed caralho! Even the way you said chouriço was very well said!! Foda-se, volta sempre! Um bacalhau!
When he said Portugueses will help you get somewhere, I thought... I’ve done this so many times. 😂 without even thinking.
Portugal 🇵🇹😍
LOL 😂
Because here (normally) she would be left in the middle of the road and obliged to walk by herself...
As someone from Porto I'm triggered because of the "pastel de belém" instead of "pastel de nata" 😜
i love how educated he is in our history and our culture, it’s just so amazing, and i didn’t know this was the “vibe” we gave off, it’s pretty amazing to hear him talk about portuguese people this way
We wish all the tourists were more like you. Welcome whenever.
Este homem literalmente falou com o coração. E emocionou se no final. Vi nos olhos dele. Falou de nós com tanto amor e admiração. Serás sempre bem-vindo à nossa pequena, humilde mas linda terra de seu nome Portugal.
Who is he?! Can he be the ambassador for the US in Portugal? This is amazing! You can feel his love for our country.
Oh man! This video made me cry!! Sometimes, we, Portuguese forget how incredible our country is!! I'm crying of Happiness!! And the happiness of this guy! Jesus!! He came to Portugal as American, and left as a Portuguese!! We wait for your return!!

that last part where you spoke portuguese, brought a tear to the corner of my eye not gonna lie
This video warmed my heart so much, I never realized how foreigners thought about us, I'm Portuguese myself and never realized how polite we were myself haha
My dad's a true portuguese goes to the store almost everyday for his bread!!
This guy even looks portuguese, love from Porto!
I'm so proud of being Portuguese and hearing all of this, is so accurate

But he couldn’t make his dream , he died at the age 37 years old.😢
Anyway you had described very well many things about the people, the country, and the food.👏👏😍
But i think you have missed lots of beautiful and amazing things and events as well.
And the best way to do it is to search in every town or city the events every year and what date.😊
You have missed also Sintra the castle and the palaces .
Is an magnificent and magic area, you need at least one week to be able to see all the palace , castle, and Sintra itself.
🥰❤️
Wish from my heart that you have the chance to go back and cary on to enjoy beautiful Portugal.
