    People don't understand momentum! Here is my explanation. Momentum is the sum of all the sub masses times the velocities of each sub particles together of that object! If you understand that then you're golden!

    For the last example, how there is no external torque? Is not the weight of the box pointing downward perpendicular to the rotating sarface? So Torque =Fr, which F=mg and r=distance from center to the box ?

    • @dbsmovie
      @dbsmovie 4 года назад

      Exactly

    • @sarahholland5980
      @sarahholland5980 4 года назад +1

      I think it's because you're defining your system here as being both the box and the surface. If you just defined your system to be the surface, then it would indeed be providing a net external torque.

    • @neonskie7008
      @neonskie7008 2 года назад

      The weight of the box wouldn't really cause any turning effect. If u see it practically, if u pushed the disc downwards with the box or your hand it wouldn't rotate
      The force is parallel to the axis of rotation, so it would cause any turning effect
      If u consider as a whole single system then the T would be zero

    Um, I do wish I was a lot smarter because I want to understand these physics concepts due to my simple curiosity about things. I am just not catching on, yet.

    • @goranhernandez
      @goranhernandez 5 лет назад +26

      Its not your level of smartness that is making you not understand. Every human has the same ability to learn. You just need to be exposed to as much physics as possible. Watch documentaries and read beginner level books. Usually, watching or reading the history behind the concepts helps you to see the reasoning that guys like Isaac Newton used when coming up with these ideas. If you have a solid understanding of fundamentals, everything else will fall into place. Like my professor says, every physics test after your first one is cumulative. If you don't understand something, something is wrong in your foundation. Just go back a bit and practice some easier ones. Everything is easy once you get good at it.

      To understand you probably need to play around with the formulas.
      Take the mass to the other side, and try to see what it's saying, replace the next round with the velocity, or conjure another formula out from another dimension (F = ma) and try to find as much meaning as you can.
      😗

    That is thrust or antigravity by any type had enough power from electricity current or rotation of blades or spindle of protruding knobs ...in ufo design failed because invert space push back so if the center of ufo is hollow then it can travel up or foward

    What would happen if there was torque slowing down angular speed. How would to find time it takes for angular speed to reach 0

    • @katiehe7882

      Net torque is equal to inertia times angular acceleration. Once you find acceleration, you can use v(initial) + at = v(final).

    If net torque is equal to zero then why isnt it at rotational equilibrim and have constant angulatlr speed??

    • @carultch
      @carultch 2 года назад

      The net external toque is zero, but there are internal forces, and correspondingly torques involved with redistributing the mass. Their effect adds up to zero on the system as a whole.
