This is insane. I've usually hated necro and never really played it. But this shows how little I know about the game. Your expertise is blowing me away, killing those dragons after first week. Mind blowing! :D
If you go in to multiplayer hot seat you can enter preferences and give gold change like in lobby games - then return to main meny and start the game single player. The settings chosen in hot seat will apply 👍. Appreciate the video 👌

Wow… just wow! I first played this game more than 2 decades ago and never have I thought it can be played like this. Feels like a complete different game! Big thank you and really nice of you passing down the knowledge and ignite new passionate players for an old game.
I watched some more of your other videos and just a small suggestion if you don’t mind. For videos as such a specific topic that’s not live stream or playthrough showcase, I imagine it would be beneficial to stick to a written script and hit bulletin points with more video editing to highlight/guideline what the viewers need to know. I feel like at least some of the older videos I’m just looking at a game screen with no movement but just you talking about stuff. This format would work out great if you can ask question in real time like a discussion with friend, or like what I do I listen to it like podcast when driving. But I feel like you are missing out potential viewers when they just want some entry level tips to improve their game and let’s face it most of them are not so patient. I feel like if one can spend time taking all that in would make them really good at this game, but not everyone is looking to get that good since it takes time.
It’s pretty length but all I’m saying is don’t miss out the entry level players wanting to get low hanging fruits from your channels. With their viewing more people will be your subscribers and you will have more deep players at the end of day. Just put bulletin points there so everyone can get what they are looking for. Hope this helps and I really like to see more of HOMM3 content and bigger community! Keep up the good work!

In the final fight, wouldn't you rather sent your power stack below the rock, so you have only 1 dragon attacking at the time instead of 2? AI should be afraid of hurting its own troops with dragon breath.

I tried to follow Necro strategy and after a few tries I managed to break into the desert on day 9. The computer did not stand a chance. I finished the game with the combo artifact Cloak of Undead King. Thanks a lot for this outline.

At around 20:47.. What button do you press to re-enter the churchyard after checking the size? Been playing this game casually for 15+ years and I thought you had to spend movement points on walking away and walking back to it.

What do you mean by having to sacrifice a lot of tempo if we go with Thant as the beginning hero?
Galthran starts with 3 stacks of skeletons, add to that transforming the other day 1 meat you get into skeletons and you usually have around 150 skeletons on day 1, which can allow you to take a mini cons, or a size 3 hive on day 1, and in general do a lot more faster. With Thant it's much slower to get started with farming the map.
Hello Alex, thanks for the video. I was trying this cemetery tech for myself, and the upper center stack causes some problems namely, it does not hit the most advanced skeleton one stack as it did in your video but goes for the one that is a bit lower. Hence the most advanced skeleton one stack at the top can not get out of reach in the second turn.
I am killing them with one hit, by the way. Do you have any idea why it works differently for me?

But I must have missed a point in your video: why do you send 7k gold to blue player, when you end up needing them in the end of the video?
I do it to simulate a real pvp game. In pvp games you bid for towns, which means that a random town pair is rolled and the players bid from their starting 10k gold to see who gets to play the stronger town. Necro is the strongest town, so it's pretty common to pay around 7k for it in pvp games. So I said that I wouldn't go below 7k gold during the first couple of turns to simulate the fact that I would have started at a gold disadvantage in a real game.

What if start with Thant? He's animate dead specialist (only 15 spell point) and often get expert mysticism in turn 1 or 2, you can animate dead at least once everyday. Just make the skellis in one stack and he already can take crypts, churchyard, even conses and hives, and start the skeleton snowball from day one. Also building focus on vampire lords, on 121 you get 12 VL, let alone if you get vampire dwellings. With around a hundred skeletons, the mana also usually already 60 or more with alot of spell power, so we able to break as long as the guard is living creature.
Thant is viable, but he would still be slower than Galthran. The 3 starting stacks of skeletons are just too strong.
@@alex_the_magician9483 Thant is awesome. Thant is typically better than Galthran IMO because he's got innate animate dead - because you can gather a skellie army just from gold. Galthran cannot get AD unless you get it from your town and that's a crapshoot or you get lucky from a spell tower.
Especially on single player maps. He's the choice if you are able to start a game, buy Thant and then get another necro hero and take his skellies and combine. Leverage Thant levelling up and managing his spell points and managing engagement and finding the slow spell. You can potentially take out profitable engagements using skellies for huge dmg and then reanimating them before the final blow so you can preserve your army strength.
Use your other heroes to scavenge resources and try to get vamps/vamp lords as quick as possible. When that happens your vamp lord/skellie army gets very powerful/efficient very quickly and you can overrun a map against the AI.
Tamika. Galthran. Vokial. Thant. My four favorite heroes. Solmyr is a best too. Savage with chain lighting. Tyris is a heavy hitter with her cavaliers. Sorsha is a decent hero with her swordsman. This game is so damn fun. 🤘🏴☠️
It's probably a stupid question but how do you get Galthran in HoTA? I can't find genie lamps as I play tower as well. Does it have to do something within the template file?
Galthran is available on some templates, like Jebus Cross. Lamps you will also find on Jebus Cross and maybe jebus king?

Hmm I tried this twice with Galthran. However, I didnt get the animate spell in my mage guild and Thant didnt show up. It feels risky taking Galthran as first choice. Is Thant with a garuanteed animate spell not a better choice?
not for jebus cross, galthran gives too much advantage in terms of early game tempo due to the 3 stacks of skeletons, and in hota you're allowed to reroll spells in mage guild
thant is nice ofc but much slower at the start, and on jebus cross most games end mid week 2, so tempo is super important
with this strategy, would it be best to start with Galthan or Thant as the starting hero? The reason I ask is that Thant starts with animate dead.
galthran is better because he starts with 3 stacks of skeletons, so it's a much stronger early game, thant is good for the guaranteed animate but is much slower in the early game
Finally got this version, finall learning the game properly with you vids. Used to play it years ago and decided to return to it. Quite different. is there any map that is THE map to learn? Any map you would advice for me to play coop with my girlfriend, and a map for 2 vs 2 with another couple? my best friend and his wife also play.
Happy to help :). I mostly play Jebus Cross, and it's one of the most popular templates, so I'd start with that. You can also play it 2v2. If you want something easier, you can try the 1 hero Jebus Outcast format, which has become popular over the past year or so, but to me personally it's a bit lacking. There are other fun maps like Clash of Dragons, but I haven't tried them myself so I can't really give recommendations regarding how good/fun they are.

In online play you bid for towns, at the beginning a random town pair is rolled and the players bid to see who gets to play the stronger town, and necro is the strongest on jebus cross, so you will have to pay gold to play it, which means you'll be starting with less gold than your opponent (in a matchup like necro vs inferno, its totally possible for necro to start with 2k, while inferno starts with 18k)

Sure, it would just be slower by 1-2 turns as you would be forced to pick up gold with your main right away.

galthran, he's a skeleton specialists and starts with 3 stacks of skeletons in hota, although he isn't available on a lot of templates

What was the whole thing of sending 7k gold to the Blue player? Who is the Blue player in that case??? Why is that important? I'm really confused...
Blue is AI, I sent 7k to it because I wanted to simulate a real pvp scenario. Usually as necro you are going to start with a gold disadvantage, so I wanted this playthrough to reflect that and therefore be more realistic - so I never went below 7k gold in the first few turns and as soon as I got a marketplace I sent 7k to the blue player, basically simulating that I started at -7k gold, which is common as necro.
why do you send 7k gold to blue player?
Because if you play necro in pvp, you will usually be paying a lot of gold for it, so I wanted to make this demonstration resemble an actual online game as close as possible, and since I couldn’t actually give myself less gold at the start because There’s no option to do that against the AI I made a note that I wouldn’t go below 7k gold for the first couple of turns and then send 7k to the AI once I built a marketplace.

"Break" means what exactly?
Break is the guard that separates your starting zone from the center treasure zone. It's a tough guard and on the Jebus Cross template you try to get strong enough to kill it as quickly as possible because the center contains more valuable objects than your starting zone (most of the time).
So basically something-something you "break" open the safe to all the valuables
@@Ghostly_One1 well... not quite, because the valuables themselves will also be guarded by tough guards.... you fight the break for the OPPORTUNITY to fight for the valuable stuff and gather it before your opponent does

Magogs day 1, start with cal, then mage guild demons efreets, pit fiends, devils. Devils are speed 11 no retal. You can go for demon farming, but its slow.

I played with necros on expert, and i made 80.000 skeleton warriors. Without any buff they hit 200.000.....necropolis is way much stronger than others like stronghold...

I always played Vidomina as Necro and never had any issues , but i must admit this is powerful play i need to retake the h3 game lol
yeah necro specialists are good if you can use them, the thing about this particular template though is that it's based on tempo, and the early game tempo you gain by starting galthran with his 3 stacks of skeletons usually outweighs what you can gain later on if you start isra/vido, if the game goes longer then it will pay off but on jc most games end before week 3, so galthran start is the best choice

I played both H2 and H3 as a kid and never really understood noticed until now that H3 is so freakin ugly stylistically. Man what were they thinking moving on from 2d sprites!? I guess easier to edit animations but damn.
