Haha Rampart has been my favorite ever since i started playing around 12 years old. 35 years old now. Granted most of life i haven’t played. Recently have understood the strengths of Castle & Necropolis. Always wanted to like Tower more than i do.

You my friend are amazing, ive been playing this game with friends and siblings since i was a wee boy. The thing is ive never really understood much about it haha. I struggle against the default ai😂 but thanks to your breakdowns its totally changed my perspective, so psyched to play after work.

😂 dungeon and Necro are definitely the S tier, because of the easy strategy picks, meteoshower magic plus magic Ring and two cheap ranged units; Necro is only about skeleton stack and rush for vampire. Under ground towns are easier to defend, also have higher probability of the critical magics

I've been playing HOMM since HOMM2 came out in the early 90's, grew up with it, and its really cool seeing people playing HOMM3 again. Lol the other day I was walking by my next door neighbor's house and saw he was playing HOMM3 thru the window. As someone who has been playing HOMM3 for 25 years, IMO the rank of town strength goes from best to worst: Tower, Conflux, Dungeon, Castle, Rampart, Necropolis, Stronghold, Fortress, Cove, Inferno. Tower has the only ranged tier 7 in the game, Giants are actually great melee fighters and cheap to produce, naga queens will wreck your day worse than some tier 7's because of no retaliation, library gives you tons of spells... I put Conflux over Dungeon because of magic elementals and phoenix's. They also have readily available and cheap ranged units for the early game and can force strong magic skills with the university. Dungeon is only OP in the late game.

I tried to follow Necro strategy and after a few tries I managed to break into the desert on day 9. The computer did not stand a chance. I finished the game with the combo artifact Cloak of Undead King. Thanks a lot for this outline. PS: I will try Luna next!

I think my most hated spell in the third game is blind mostly because of reasons like this. its such a op spell especially when one side have it and the other dont.

I wouldn't rank any rather slow ground unit S tier. They are just too easy to deal with through spells and ranged units, and they are often useless if you are attacking enemy towns.

Got a new hero and went out fight forgetting to buy the spell book 😂😂😂. Another problem is when taking a new town from enermy, your main heroe cant go far yet cuz the enemy always manage to take it back when you go far. Then you have to take a few days come back to retake the town😢😢😢

I would put armor of the damned to S+. Why? Because it is made of common artifacts and they have an extreme effect in the early to mid game giving free way to expand. Relics from common artifacts that has very good effects are the Wizard's well and the armor of the damned. Not that u are using wizard's well on your character only when turn ends and switch to everything else on day start. Same u can expand with damned and switch to whatever u want in hero fights.

If you don't play rampart creative, you will suffer. One tip : Expert water magic Leadership Diplomacy Luck Be creative with the clone spell.

I really like HOMM3 and its random map generator. Is there a YT channel that has content like this for me? Kind of tired of hearing about pickets and JC as if THAT is what HOMM3 is. But not everybody plays HOTA, JC, and MP. Thanks!
