    When the game plays like a chore, it's no longer a game lol.

    the end game of lost ark is farming the same daily on 6 characters to get a chance of honnig your gear
    and the % are so bad you rely on petty system to get +1 on one gear and you need to fail 20 to 40 or more times to hit that 100%

      they need to add more variety as no one is going to have fun with that.

      I just wish if they didn't lock everything behind ilvl, which I don't understand the reason why because how can ppl return to the game when they update the story if its not accessible by new or returning players!..

    Gold River said he expected around 100k. The game exceeded their initial assessment. As more contents come out, they will come fast unlike the western MMO, the player base will stablize. Remember, Lost Ark at current state is sort of extended beta in the west. Less that half of the content has been released. The game is allowing the casual players to catch up to populate the more end game contents to come in the furture.

    I see a lot of you guys suggesting under 100k by end of the year. If that's the case I think it'll kinda settle in the same market as BDO where it'll be under 100k players, but hold a still steady pop with a lot of money coming in from the top spenders.

    • @issamelarmi

      Goldriver (the game director from Smilegate) said in a KR stream that they are expecting around 60k to 90k stable playerbase after the first 3 months

  • @Eisi0wns
    @Eisi0wns 2 года назад +3

    I think by the end of the year it will be on New World's level of 50k concurrent players.
    The big problem... is the honing system. The chances to upgrade are so insanely low... players who don't really swipe for gold will end up needing days to tap once with a huge chance for absolute no progression in item level... they'll get burned out and either:
    1) spend money
    2) or quit
    And even with the events, honing itself needs a huge fix. In it's current state, it's one of the worst systems I've ever seen...

    • @TheNichq
      @TheNichq 2 года назад +1

      That's my thought. I also think alot of people will go back to vpning into ru and kr. Which will lose then even more. No way they settle into anything over 80k.

    This always happens with MMOs. Lost Ark happens to be a really solid game with good performance, excellent gameplay, and an absolutely TON of content. That will keep players interested.
    I'll remind you that games like Guild Wars 2 and Black Desert continue to thrive with healthy populations that number less than 1M monthly players.

    • @Eisi0wns
      @Eisi0wns 2 года назад

      Tbh that isn't really impressive numbers.
      Compare it to other MMOs like Oldschool Runescape... we talk about 2-3M+ monthly players.
      But even that isn't really high compared to other genre... look at Fortnite... League Of Legends... Call Of Duty... millions and millions of monthly players.
      The reason this genre isn't at the top anymore is because it's the same formular for so many MMO games.
      They aren't innovative or try to be innovative. This is the problem. This is why so many of these games decline so fast and settle down on these concurrent player counts.
      Hence why Runescape, WoW, FFXIV are still sitting at the absolute top of the genre.. despite two of them being older than 15 years.
      Many MMOs these days are always the same: Dailies and weeklies, endgame chase, some horizontal progression that is qol for endgame, dungeons/raids etc.... just with a different name and a different setting...
      Like even most quests in many MMOs are the same... Kill x, collect x, go from A to B... and they turn into skipping simulators when it comes to cutscenes.

    • @Josh-99
      @Josh-99 2 года назад

      @@Eisi0wns But Lost Ark isn't like that formula. It has TONS of horizontal content that can take literally years to complete. There's actually so much to do that you can play this game every day for months without worrying about vertical progression.
      Also, if people skip the dialogue and cutscenes... that's on them. I personally don't understand why people want to skip all of that content; while I get the story is nothing groundbreaking, the cutscenes are beautifully produced and some of them (like the Dwarf blacksmithing dance video) are absolutely hilarious.
      The problem is the "rush to endgame" mentality, which really isn't how Lost Ark is designed to be played -- to the point that the Dev Studio's lead has said so over and over again.
      I'm not sure how far you have progressed, but if you aren't RUSHING TO ENDGAME, the game provides you with more than enough gold and materials to progress your character at a reasonable pace without buying anything off the marketplace or cash shop until you are well into Tier 3 content. I know this because I have gotten 4 characters to mid-Tier 3 (I can't run Argos yet, but that's fine with me) using materials gained entirely from Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids, Islands and events without buying or selling anything significant on the Marketplace.
      Look, the game isn't going to be for everyone, but it's rather unique in the MMO space: an isometric game with an action-heavy combat system that is focused on big boss fights and mechanics-heavy encounters. If we are being honest, it's very similar to the gameplay loop of Final Fantasy 14, which is ALSO focused on daily quests, mostly via dungeons and raids that are ALSO big boss fights and mechanics-heavy encounters.

    • @Eisi0wns
      @Eisi0wns 2 года назад

      @@Josh-99 See... you literally named it.
      Chaos dungeons, guardian raids... that is DAILIES content, the thing that 95% of all MMO use. And sadly, you will have to run this content in order to progress to new zones, since most of them are ilvl gated.
      Have you ever played OSRS? This is where you actually have TRUE freedom and you are not bound to do your dailies and your weeklies... THIS is how MMO should operate.
      The only positive thing Lost Ark has compared to its competition is the addition of a rest bonus... which tbf, is kinda unique with all these MMOs that force you to not miss one day or you're set back on the next patch (Jarke made videos on THAT MMO.... we all know it's name by now)
      I want more OSRS type MMO that give you the freedom to do what you want... no dailies/no weeklies... just login and grind on whatever you feel like.
      Also let me add onto this that Lost Ark is indeed not a bad game, actually in it's competition it is probably one of the best IF NOT THE BEST MMO.... but does it invent something entirely new? No. We need more REAL unique MMO like Runescape that last for decades and are still played by millions of monthly players.
      This is what is needed to make the genre thrive again.
      Compared to the other genres... it's no longer the dominator that it used to be when WoW was the biggest game in the world.

    i think it's actually depends on what mmo market will provide in the next few months, there is no good, noob friendly and almost none p2w games rn besides Lost Ark (i'm taking about recent ones) so people actually don't have many choices when it comes to MMOs. Also player base decreased because of Elden Ring which is very very time consuming and have a lot of stuff to do. I hope this game gonna grow much bigger and more fun (from what i've already seen in KR we have a pretty bright future when it comes to LAO) but we will see though.

    • @Jarke
      @Jarke  2 года назад +1

      so much good content to come if they add more variety to endgame (less daily centric grind) and decrease the rng upgrading aspects more people will stick around.

    I'm currently playing, but no way the game has over 100k I'm a couple months. Half the 300k right now is bots.

    • @Eisi0wns
      @Eisi0wns 2 года назад

      Oh yes.
      Realistically, it's about 150k players right now... with the other half being gold farm bots... since it's so easy compard to KR to set up bot farms.
      I hope the recent Steam changes will change that, but I highly doubt it'll stop them for long.
