“Mother, wouldst thou truly Lordship sanction, in one so bereft of light? Those stripped of the Grace of Gold shall all meet death. In the embrace of Messmer's flame.”
I just finished fighting Messmer and I can't get over the brass in this song, so grandiose and yet so so tragic. And it boils down to the fact that Messmer isn't the villain. Our true villain is Marika, the one who seemingly abandons everything and everyone
i think she was forced by the golden order to do everything she did and then why she shattered the elden ring is because she wanted to rebel against the golden order after she realised that they were wrong

I feel messmer's trauma so the very bone and I've almost lived it in the form of mother abandoning me only for dispair but I was saved, only for my savior to die a year later
@@zeedozeedo350 Wrong. Messmer is Marika's child, as he literally calls her mother as he's looking up at her statue during the cutscene in his second phase. Radagon IS Marika. They are the same being. Anyone born to Marika or Radagon are part of the Golden Lineage. In the fight vs Morgott we see several golden thrones that belong to all of Radagon and Marika's offspring, including Ranni, Radhan and Rikkard (children of Radagon with Renalla of the Full Moon) Godwyn the Golden anc the cursed Omen Twins, Morgott and Mohg, all 3 children of Marika and Godfrey, and the twin prodigies and Empyreans Miquella and Malenia born from a single God ( Marika & Radagon) . The only reason Messmer is never mentioned is because Marika locked him away in the Shadow Realm and left him there to oversee and rule the Shadow Realm on her behalf. Messmer is Marika and Radagon's child, so he too is an Empyrean. The Golden Lineage is the lineage of Marika/Radagon, as Marika is the one who created the Golden Order and the Elden Ring in the first place. @@zeedozeedo350 Why would only Godfrey's children with Marika be considered part of the Golden Lineage? Godfrey has no association with "Gold". Queen Marika was the Goddess, she was the one that created the Golden Order, so logic dictates any of her offspring would be part of the Golden Lineage as Marika is directly associated with "Gold". Furthermore, Godfrey only had 3 children with Marika, two of them were cursed (Morgott and Mohg) and were never referenced as being part of the Golden Lineage as they were shunned by their parents and imprisoned underground for being cursed. If what you're saying is correct then Godwyn the Golden would be the ONLY one that was part of the Golden Lineage, yet we know for a fact that Godwyn had no children, so how could there be a Golden Lineage if he was the only one? It makes absolutely no sense. A lineage is a family tree, which assumes there were multiple children birthed for it to be called a "lineage". Also, when we fight Morgott we see several empty GOLDEN thrones at the entrance of the Erdtree, each pertaining to one of Marika's Demi God offspring (Miquella, Malenia, Ranni, Radahn and Rykard). There was nothing special about Godfrey btw, he was simply a great warrior chosen by Queen Marika to be her consort. Marika is where the GOLD comes from, as it is stated in the DLC trailer that her ascention to Godhood at the Gates of Divinity in Enir-Ilim ushered in the "Birth of Gold and Shadow". Godfrey/Horah Loux was just another pawn in Queen Marika's schemes. Godrick the Grafted called himself Godrick the Golden because he was a wannabe Demi God and was technically part of the Golden Lineage as he is a distant relative of the Demi Gods. However, his claims that he is "the Lord of all that is Golden" is a bold faced LIE. He never even had a chance at becoming Elden Lord, hell even Rykard, Radahn, Morgott and Mohg had no claim to the Elden Throne as they were not Empyreans, despite being direct children of Queen Marika the Eternal. The only ones fit to replace Queen Marika as the next God/Goddess of the New Age were the twin prodigies Miquella and Malenia (as they were the only ones birthed by a single god, Marika & Radagon) and Lunar Princess Ranni (though Ranni was chosen by another Outer God, not by the Greater Will, which sent the Elden Beast to the Lands Between in the first place.) So what you're saying makes no sense.
@@zeedozeedo350 Let's assume what you're saying is true. Then who are the members of the Golden Lineage, apart from Godwyn the Golden? How is it a lineage if there is no hint that Godwyn ever married or had children before his death during the Night of the Black Knives? Who had children and grandchildren and great grandchildren for Godrick the Grafted to be a part of the Golden Lineage? Who birthed these children if not the Demi Gods themselves? Melina is likely part of the Golden Lineage too but she has red hair, which means she is also a direct descendant of Marika & Radagon, way more than Godrick the Grafted given her angelic appareance and her extensive knowledge of Queen Marika, the Elden Ring and the Erdtree. But if she has red hair then she cannot be a descendant of Godrey/Horah Loux.

The tragedy in this soundtrack.... and the callback to the original Elden Ring theme throughout it. It is so, so good.

I'd say it's more of the Golden Order and the Greater Will that is at fault
Though i don't know too much about the lore so i might be wrong
The Greater Will only cares about order. It doesn't care which form that order takes. Marika CREATED the Golden Order.

He is the son of Radagon

Messmer gives me the vibes of Loki, both are the anti-heroes, who begged for attention. Too bad Messmer's flame wasn't green
