After beating the dlc I can definitely look back and say this is my favorite fight in the whole game. Messmer is the full package as both a boss and a character. Mechanically he’s fun to fight because despite how hard and aggressive he is, he never feels unfair. I never raged much fighting him because it was satisfying to learn his kit and the fight is just really fun overall. The presentation, atmosphere, and ost are fantastic. And lore wise he is actually a perfect foil to Miquella. All the trailers made Messmer look like a diabolical, genoocidal psychopath whose actions were so evil that he was erased from history. But in game he’s actually a pretty chill dude who was well liked and inspired loyalty from the people around him, Radahn even looked up to him as a big brother. When one of his black knights betrays him, Messmer doesn’t torture or kill him like you’d expect a villian would, he instead just imprisons him and mourns the loss of a brother at arms. He even has an entire clinic in his castle for treating and trying to cure the shaman jars. That same castle is built in a way that protects and hides his mother’s village. It’s clear he only did evil things because Marika ordered him to, and it becomes really tragic that he was essentially abandoned by her and only realized it upon death. Between his strength, intelligence, and loyalty I have no doubt Messmer could have been one of the most revered demi gods if he was actually allowed to pursue his own ambitions, right up there with Radahn and Godwyn. He instead ends up dying alone and abandoned with no legacy to leave behind because he was erased from history. A fate that not even the omen brothers suffered. Meanwhile Miquella is said to be a beautiful kind hearted savior who in reality is a monster who only inspires loyalty because it’s literally his ability to enchant and manipulate people. He casts aside his humanity in order to become a god and he plans on enslaving everyone beneath him under a guise of love. God I love this game.

A lot of Messmer's lines he cuts off his sentences halfway through so it sounds like he's just being pointed. What he's actually saying there is "I will not suffer...A lord devoid of light.". He's saying he refuses to allow you to become the elden lord because you're tarnished and not favored by the grace of gold. Ironic considering you're one of the only ones left who actually IS favored since you can see the graces.
He also has so much recovery time, I was actually so sad when I beat him because his voice acting was so fantastic. He's so badass and I barely get to fight him, that's why I help everyone I can fight him so I get to learn all his moves and everything
It seems like that golden eye infused with grace, acted as a seal to his curse. Probably given to him by his mother Marika. I want to see what Vaati thinks.
I’d guess it’s more like just the last bit of grace he had. In order to attempt to beat us, he fully succumbs to the abyssal snake. Perhaps if we had actually died here, he would’ve killed himself afterward since he no longer Grace himself
@@loomingmoon4682what we do know is that similar to how Malenia was born afflicted with rot, Messmer was born afflicted with the snake. Thus Marika bestowed the seal as his eye upon his birth in order to conceal the truth.
@@thegrandmaster1637 Personally think that the snake could've been a blessing of the crucible as a way to help Marika in her crusade against the hornsent that seemed to have tarnished the sanctity of life by trying to create saints out of the shamans. I mean if you take a better look at the snakes themselves then you realize that the symbols from real religion they're a reference to all have positive connotations (e.g. winged serpent=Quetzalcoatl, white serpent being connected to good luck and so on) and the only reason Messmer was shunned for these features was because Marika was under control of the Greater will/leader of the Golden order which despised the Crucible and saw the blessings as curses
Got second phase on my second try and beat him at 21 attempts. He doesnt have a lot of health and he also get afflicted by rot poison and bleed which makes my build a great counter. I think you are meant to fight Mesmer as one of the penultimate bosses in the game. It is cool that you can fight him much earlier if you want too (if you're good enough!), but seeing how his flame is required to progress the story as you head towards the final chapter.... it would make sense to have at least 13 -14 fragments before facing him.
Messmer is more of a gatekeeper boss. The games basically telling you if you can’t beat him then the final boss will slaughter you so no you did exactly what you were supposed to do

Kai's reaction to phase 2 is literally what I was thinking when I played it. 💀
exactly it felt so soon to fight mesmer
Yeah before entering the boss arena , the messages they all say snake ahead and I thought maybe be a snake lvl section and I don't expect it to be just a straight messmar
So I just got the fuck out and explored every other areas and found him moderate difficult but what a cool ass boss , he makes me want to do a fragment lvl 1 run by how enjoyable his fight is ,flaming up his spear before the thrust attacks ,his whole boss fights is so damn satisfying and that grab move when he impale us that sound effect oh my
My god they made these boss insanely hard I never had to summon a single time for any of the other fromsoft games but for Mesmer I had to summon
4:00said everybody who fought mesmer
I waited to play them until I explored 70% of the map and beat him in less than 5 tries. I found Rellana harder lol.
Props to you man
I haven't even beaten mesmer yet
I did beat rellana, the divine beast, And golden Hippo
THE GOLDEN HIPPO IS THE MOST BS BOSS IN THIS GAME !!!!
in my opinion
Does mesmer have any weaknesses?
Bleed seems to work but its hard to give it to him.
@@DVIN_WRATH just wait.. just wait
I will not suffer proceeds to gauge off his eye
A lot of Messmer's lines he cuts off his sentences halfway through so it sounds like he's just being pointed. What he's actually saying there is "I will not suffer...A lord devoid of light.". He's saying he refuses to allow you to become the elden lord because you're tarnished and not favored by the grace of gold. Ironic considering you're one of the only ones left who actually IS favored since you can see the graces.
Does anyone else think phase 2 is the easier phase? Half of his attack options are entirely more telegraphed and easy to dodge
Definitely, it's way more coordinated
He also has so much recovery time, I was actually so sad when I beat him because his voice acting was so fantastic. He's so badass and I barely get to fight him, that's why I help everyone I can fight him so I get to learn all his moves and everything
メスメルの声優めちゃくちゃ好き…ダントツでかっこいい。
up in NG7, the claw dude you first encounter in 1st zone makes this boss fight look tame.
orochimaru goes crazy in this game
Wait till he meets miquella
We got Orochimaru (Messmer)
Iskandar from Fate Zero + Berserker from Fate Stay Night (Radahn)
Griffith (Miquella)
Messmer is so fine please tell me someone else gets it
you need to leave the house once in your life
oh i get you 10000%
hes got a sort of Bowie esque swagger to him
He is fine as hell and nobody can tell me otherwise
To each their own 😂
i love voice messmer is so cool
Honestly bro
Im subbing just because of how you cooked him at the end
I appreciate it my friend 🙏
Am i high or has Messmers voice actor changed from the first trailer to his first cutscene?
It's so much better now fr
@@kwamemwangs2173 personally I preferred the old one but this one fits the lore better since he really isn't a evil character.
@@velhokala8456 >does literally genocide

sure buddy .
anyone hold the breath during snake close up cutscene ? it feels like 1 minute for me
It seems like that golden eye infused with grace, acted as a seal to his curse. Probably given to him by his mother Marika.
I want to see what Vaati thinks.
I thought it was supposed to quell doubts about the Erdtree and Marika's guidance, and the black pupil makes all your worst fears come to life
I’d guess it’s more like just the last bit of grace he had. In order to attempt to beat us, he fully succumbs to the abyssal snake. Perhaps if we had actually died here, he would’ve killed himself afterward since he no longer Grace himself
@@SandyEye I'm still not even certain what the Abyssal Snake is
@@loomingmoon4682what we do know is that similar to how Malenia was born afflicted with rot, Messmer was born afflicted with the snake.
How DLC boss open second phase:
Take out his eye
Take out his head
Main game:
Takes off hand.
Takes off lions head
Takes off clothes
Not the reactions i spected, none of them related messmer 2nd phase with the dark souls serpernt
Got second phase on my second try and beat him at 21 attempts. He doesnt have a lot of health and he also get afflicted by rot poison and bleed which makes my build a great counter. On the flip side Malenia doesnt care much about rot and poison so i struggle hard. Half the bosses in this dlc are built for me 🎉
Where is Asmongold? Ohh wait. He never got to Phase 2, the first time he met him 😂
hahaha
That your so mesmerized by messmer attack you forgot to roll
3:50 "random bullshit go" style by Messmer
I felt so bad for Faze Jev. He beat him first try and didn’t even experience the fun of learning Messmer. 😢
He jus too weak in his 2nd phase and the snake easy af to dodge after fighting rykard
2 health bars would be good
It's an easy boss I learned it in a few tried and beat him 4th try
@@ironic4910difficulty is relativ, you were probably using guts greatsword.
A lot of people f seems like crazy before the dlc. Then grabbed a lot of the scadutree blessings. What was the level and was it first playthrough or was it one of the ng+ levels? Aha st was your build? Were you using a summon. How many hours have you put into this and other Soulslikes? All of these things have impacts. The have is a easy or as hard as you choose to make it. Only no hit sl1 no upgraded weapons people can tell me they think it's easy. The rest all fall in a spectrum
At least he wasn’t maidenless
Ng+7 is the real Elden Ring experience
Been doing the whole DLC on Ng+7. It's been brutal but I'm up to the final boss now. Wish me luck 🙏🏻
How was radahn ng+7 ?
Definitely a S-Tier boss and after you get his weapon. You can melt all other bosses like butter 🙂

you really should
You really should
I love how some people say a boss was very hard and say they beat it in 4 tries.... bro that's a super easy boss in my book...
Yeah honestly. At first he seems a bit much with how aggressive his attacks are but they're not bad to dodge and once you get o his 2nd phase its already almost over.
It took me 3 hours. I once got so close, he was legit one hit but I choked heavily which boomed my mental and I thought he’s impossible lmao. Definitely not the hardest fights tho, I did make so many stupid mistakes
Out of all bosses, the last one broke me.@@drexalte69
@@Spartan51692 Honestly, I think his second phase is easier than his first.
Messmer was def harder than every other boss in SOTE thus far. Only Bayle compares.
No melina revenge yet hehe

It was the channel's owner themselves.
I hate how squishy this boss is. Amazing fight but most players have like 10 blessings atp. Once you adapt to his moveset the fight ends so soon.
Perfect difficulty imo, its challenging but not insanely difficult. Me and as I have seen many other players had issues with it

Funny thing is he was kinda right, that eye is literally Marika's scarseal/soreseal.
"Solemn duty weighs upon the one beholden; not unlike *a gnawing curse* from which there is no deliverance."
Remembrance of the Impaler:
A malevolent snake writhed within Messmer, and so *his very mother plucked out his eye and put in its place a seal of grace.* Yet, having done so, her fear compelled her to secret away her child within the realm of shadow.
Can you do the frenzy flame boss reaction next. That fight goes hard
Ive already done it my friend check my channel 😁
it's kinda annoying that you can't do sweep attacks with his spear except for when you do it's skill
Technically you can with a dash-r1, but I agree, I wish it were an easier attack to do

BEST BOSS HES MY FAV I LOVE HIM
I explorer everything in the map before fighting this boss and i had like 14 scadutree blessings so I killed him in my 3 attempte I was so sad cause it give me that felling that I just beat him because I was over level
I had 13 scadutree blessings and it still took me 25 attempts to beat him, you might just be good at the game 🤷♂️
The games basically telling you if you can’t beat him then the final boss will slaughter you so no you did exactly what you were supposed to do
Same experience, felt overleveled
I beat him first try solo at scadu level 10. My build just seemed strong against him
No Charlie, it’s not pretentious. That’s olde English. That’s how it would have been said.
You really expect education from streamers? They barely finished elementary school.
It actually _is_ dependent on the character in question, since both are used in-universe. There’s no way in hell the likes of Patches or Boggart would say “standeth” rather than “stands”
@@MrNorbi001 education bro? NOBODY speaks like that anymore. Sometimes it's just really funny to see those bosses speaking in such articulate way. It's almost comical in some instances.

bro only knows 5 streamers
no bs tho from nerfed the fuck out of his VA, he sounded so baddass in the trailers but in game he sounds depressed af and almost unwilling to fight you
That may have been the point. The trailers made Messmer look like a diabolical genocidal psychopath, but in the actual game he’s honestly a pretty chill dude who Radahn even looked up to lmao. The real menace of the dlc is actually Miquella whose whole thing is appearing as a graceful kind hearted savior when in reality he’s a monster. Makes for good intentional misdirection.
I think it was their direction, hes indeed depressed also jealous because he knows Marika sent you to become elden lord
@@ShinStriderHiryu I don't think it's jealousy rather than him having resigned to his fate of dying to us as a stepping stool to becoming Elden lord. If my memory serves me right Marika once told all her children that they needed to find a purpose and make themselves useful, otherwise they'd be discarded and Messmer seemed to be the only one to understand that Marika meant that if they weren't useful, they would be usurped by the tarnished on their way to become Elden lord. I think that's also why he's the only one to actually recognize us as the Elden lord from the moment we step into his boss room
He's been abandoned and discarded, yet he still fulfills his mother's wishes. I don't think he's supposed to be happy
That’s literally the point
