Just starting to play with the Z6 Filmmaker’s Kit - still just trying to get the camera to work with the Moza Air 2 - just an FYI - you need to make the following connection: NIKON Z6-->Micro USB to Type-C Adapter-->M3C-Micro Cable-->CAM CTRL port on Air 2. The CAM CTRL port is on the side of quick release plate, n ext to 7.4V OUT (Wasn’t obvious to me) and you have to upgrade the firmware with the Moza Master iPhone app to 04.12 (could not find that app on my MacBook Apple store? But did on my iPhone!?!)
can you control the AF on the lens just with this connection? I can connect Z6 fine, control some features, but not the AF, which should work "with selected objectives (that I didn't find specified anywhere"
Hi Nikon! Please can you explain the way the focus dial on the Moza is meant to work with the Z6? When I use the Focus dial on the moza, the Nikon needs to be in AF-S, or an Autofocus mode. If I put the Nikon into Manual Focus, the Moza cannot control it - I think this is to be expected. HOWEVER, when in AF-S mode, and using an off camera dial to focus with the back of the screen from distance, dont you think it would be helpful to have focus peaking? Maybe? Otherwise, I'd say its useless as I'm too far away from the screen to really see focus.
It was important for us to offer manual Focus Peaking - available in both the Z 6 and Z 7 at Custom Setting D10. This feature can be set to different colors and 3 levels of sensitivity. When using an Atomos NINJA V, such as the one supplied in our Z 6 Filmmaker's Kit, this setup will provide a larger monitor for viewing at arm’s length and offers additional focus peaking of its own. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
Nikon-USB option is gone with the new firmware 1.0.2. Iso, Aperture and Tv values on the gimbal are completely unrelated to what is set on my camera. What works from the Z6 control from Air 2 is the start recording button and now it finally seems that the focus control of Nikkor lens works.
Hi there- After adjusting the tilt axis, manually move the camera back to its normal position. If balanced correctly, the camera shouldn’t move or swing when tilted. The camera will also return to its normal position once the MOZA Air 2 is powered on.
Ican´t find the correct cable for the z6.. only a m3c-Micro-Cable is inside but at this cable is no adapter to connect it with the usb-port at the z6... what can i do or where can i get a matching cable ?
Hi there! The correct USB cable for the Nikon Z 6 camera is the UC-E24 USB Cable. This cable is provided in the box with brand new Nikon Z 6 cameras. If you did not find the compatible cable in your purchased box kit, please contact Nikon Support at the following link: bit.ly/2Hv9NuV
You're better off using the accessory cable that came with the Moza and buy a Micro-USB to USB-C adapter for about $5 from Amazon. It's silly to have to buy an additional accessory (I know). As part of a Nikon Filmmaker's Kit, one would think that little adapter or at least a native Moza-to_Nikon cable would have been included; seeing at there is a native cable for the GH5 and Sony bodies in the box.
I can't roll my nikon z6ii camera with zhiyun gimbal crane 3 ... but the z6 mark which I have .... it's properly doing their work... but what's problem with my nikon z6ii. ?
Hi Richie! As Nikon does not manufacture gimbals, we cannot tell you what may be wrong or incompatible about your gimbal setup, if you are using gear other than the Moza Air 2 Gimbal with the Nikon Z6. It is suggested that you contact the maker of the gimbal you're using to find out if they are made to be compatible with the Z 6II and what restrictions they may have for use with your Z cameras.
I'm having major issues with balancing the gimbal in this setup. My conclusion so far is that the Atomos HDMI cable is heavy and stiff and prevents balancing the gimbal even when I put Ninja close to the camera. Not sure if my Moza Air 2 settings are incorrect, the unit is faulty, or this is a major flaw of this setup, but I would really appreciate any advice how to solve the issue as I can’t use the setup right now. The manual balancing is done correctly for all the axes, but Moza turns off the motors after a few seconds in more than 90% of the attempts after turning the gimbal ON. I tried another HDMI cable (more flexible and lighter), and it helped a bit (introducing another issue of frequent disconnecting), but it seems that any HDMI cable on the camera causes force that is significant enough to trigger the safety motor off-switch of the Moza Air 2
Hey so I had similar issues with my setup. Took me about 2 hours to figure it out. But I got it. try positioning the ninja as close as possible to the gimbal as possible without getting in the way. It seems to work best on the right side. This will reduce strain significantly. Then once you connect the hdmi and rebalance make sure when you balance the pan axis the cable isn't tugging on the camera. When you turn the moza back on hold the fn key to do the auto calibration. You should notice that when it does the lateral test shake it will compensate for the tension from the cable and lean the gimbal slightly in the opposite direction of the ninja. Don't freak out this is good. Once calibration is done you should be good to go but if not, go into the menu and then Camera setting and select Nikon. This is pretty important step because the gimbal adjusts form certain camera weights. There should be a * next to it once selected. Then try the calibration again. And voila! you should be ready to go, the gimbal should account for the slight tension from the hdmi.
Hi Rustin - Many Nikon mirrorless and DSLR cameras are compatible with gimbals available through third-party companies. We recommend reaching out to Moza directly about their latest gimbals as well as for more information on functionality, capabilities and compatibility.

Does anyone for sure whether or not the ninja will still work when connected to the Z6 mounted onto the gimbal?? I know with other gimbals there were issues when connecting the 3 simultaneously.
Yes, these three devices are designed to work together and are available in the Nikon Z 6 Filmmaker’s Kit. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
This video is extremely misleading with regards to the cable. When you add the adapter to the cable it is not really long enough to connect the camera and gimbal without significant strain. It’s not as long as shown in the video. Nikon should send replacement usb-c to micro usb to the people that bought this.
yes, I can't balance the gimbal when having Ninja connected with Atomos HDMI cable to Z6, the cable is too heavy and stiff and pulls the camera significantly (even when I have it closer to the camera). I tried to use another HDMI cable and was able to use the setup for a few hours, but any bigger movement of the camera disconnects the cable(resetting Ninja's N-log, LUT etc. settings), the next day this was impossible to balance. I don't know if this is crucial issue nobody is talking about or my Moza Air 2 is somewhat faulty or more sensitive but really balancing the gimbal with the HDMI connection to Ninja mounted on the gimbal is near impossible.

Yeah, spend 20 minutes balancing the camera, lens, ND filter, and Ninja V on the extension... then realize the batteries are dead!!! Get TWO sets of batteries!!!!
