I've just had my 4.4 TDV8 diagnosed with a leaky oil cooler by my main dealer and the low key battery warning was showing when I picked it up so I guess the mechanic was sat in it with a pocket full of other keys 😄

All L322s are lovely, in my opinion!

Bought a car off a car dealer and wasn't as described 😅. I've been there a fair few times.
I've been looking for a good low mileage l322 for a while, but some dealers have them up at 2.5x trade value.
Anyone buying an l322 at £20k+ just know you're gonna lose ya pants.
A 2012 with 60k, no marks, and FSH books around £10k with WBAC or Motorway, that's roughly what trade are paying for them.

Yes - frustrating isn’t it. If it makes you feel any better - the “capo de capi” of miss-described cars is a certain very large auction house catering solely for the trade…
On trade price - I wouldn’t get too fixated on it - it’s very difficult to buy a car at “trade price” never mind a good one. So think of more as a backstop in value at any given time that you could exercise immediately to liquidate the asset.
On 2.5 x trade value - I think I know which dealer you are talking about. I mean fair play to them - they seem to be selling. If a vehicle is priced as an outlier in the market I think it’s right to ask why? If it’s had an absolute fortune spent on it to carry it through another 10 years - that’s a compelling value proposition. If it’s had a quick wash straight of the auction house - I’d suggest it may not be.

Great video thanks, would love to know what oil cooler manufacturer you use & what vacuum unit you use for the cooling? Thanks.

I use the draper universal cooling system tool above. It’s pretty good - can be a little tricky sometimes to get the seal between the suction unit and the coolant reservoir. And you need compressed air - but even as a hobby mechanic I’d recommend getting a small compressor they aren’t that expensive and open loads of tools to you.
Oil cooler brand - I go for Nissens. They aren’t the OEM but let’s be honest the OEM ones aren’t great, so I don’t see the point in spending twice as much and then some for a part that is just as likely to fail again at some point in the future!

@@fullfat4x4 Perfect thankyou, I am sure my oil cooler has sprung a small leak in the last few weeks, so was looking at getting on with this job. Will get these on order, thanks again.

No worries - also check out the description in this video - there are some o-rings I’d recommend you replace while you are in there.ruclips.net/video/bZsKfKOy-r0/видео.htmlsi=OnVnJInxHJStMiw6
Also - if you haven’t already - head over to the fullfatrr forum - in the wiki section is a link to the workshop manual - you need the files for intake manifold removal and then oil cooler removal. The procedures are well laid out and fairly easy to follow.

Haha glad you are on board! 👌 the 4.4 TDV8 would be the perfect engine if it we’re not for emissions systems - just have to keep a watchful eye on them.
