Why can't all the motor industry be like you and Matt, honest and with complete integrity. I have been watching your channel since you restarted it and your professionalism and enthusiasm is clear to see. Your channel deserves to be really successful like Matt's. Best of luck and if I ever buy another MB I will definitely have it serviced and repaired at your garage as I don't live too far away. I like "while you're in there" and it makes complete sense to do those jobs.
When you decide to be a "specialist" you generally know your product, take pride and have standards in what your're doing, rather than the All makes type have-a-go garages.
Thanks to Matt for the link. You do realise you've added about 2 weeks to the 40 day booking wait for these chaps to look at my W211 E240! Seriously congrats on the new subs. Shows class, honesty and real knowledge wins through in the end.
I was impressed that you Cound get a camera into some of those tight spaces, when getting a hand and the tools in is often hard enough. Matt is right, servicing the transmission, new filters and fluids can really transform things. This was a quality expensive car when new, it deserves some TLC.
Sometimes, genuine Mercedes/OEM parts are a no-brainer. I had to replace an intercooler hose on my 2009 W204 C200 CDI and the genuine part was just over £61 from the dealer against £80+ from my trusty motor factor.
They look dated nowadays but im never selling mine. iv kept mine mechanically good and interior spotless. People are always surprised that i had a built in telephone (that works) next to the radio
@@kondjanegongo796my dad also has one, I have had 2 of these before and they were absolutely bulletproof 3.2 petrol. I have 2013 ML3.5 petrol. To keep W163 is the king of suburban and very good at off-roading
@@bekabeka71 the best thing is that there are so many scapped cars that getting replacement parts isnt that expensive... and for off-roading its not as scary as driving a newer one offroad.
I have owned 4 of these ML's over the years. Drive a '03 as my daily. Love them. Sturdy as bricks, comfortable, and great in snow. (I live in Arizona and yes we have lots of snow in the mountains) Thanks for the video.
Good doco. You must be a really dedicated mechanic the job could really be off putting. Again the right tools is a must. And i would hate to see the bill if a mercedes dealership did the work. Very good docco, most interesting watching the surgery take place. Cheers, Rickie
ML’s are vastly underrated My 1999 SL320 R129 is the straight six. Owned her since 2010 with 48k now on 60k They’re great with TLC and a pocket full of money
Nice to see a young person still interested and working in a normal garage, good on him, even though they are Mercedes Benz. Matt was right to promote your channel, great video.
16 plugs 😮I had one of these a long time ago never had it long enough to do a service and thank god 😂😂🤦♂️loved it though fast for the size of the beast
I love your use of the word “Dizzy” for distributor, and have always used it myself. This comment is on the wrong video I know, but I lost the original sorry. Dizzy - live on! Good job and good diagnosis of thinking outside the box 😅
Interesting video, thanks. We have had 3 ML's one Y reg 270d, that we took to Spain and back in 2016- paid 1600 for it and sold it for 1950! one Petrol ML 320 with an Lpg conversion that failed on the Peripherique and started leaking LPG which had to be shut off and the system vented at a remote spot on the autoroute ( the scariest experience of my life, the Gendarmes were aware and kept a safe distance whilst smoking their Gauloises! ). After that road trip, spending nearly £2K on petrol it was sold ! Then in 2022 our hated Evoque threw its steering rack and left us in need of something able to deal with northumberland winters and a trip to Heathrow 4 up with 12 bags! Another Ml 270 and a leaky fuel system, But over the 6 months we owned it, it went to london twice fully loaded, dozens of trips to the Potato merchant in Gateshed and even towing a 3.5 Tonne Generator 500 miiles. We buy any car gave us £1200 for it in 2023 and I would have another one tomorrow! (not a petrol though LOL) Over the years we have had 3 ML's, 1 GWagon-how naive were we to sell that in 1990!, 1 E220D Avantegarde, 2 V220's, 1 LHD spanish 190D and 1 190 E Cosworth! yes we had a cosworth Mercedes!
I would drive my Merc from south of London to Stockport to have my car looked at by you guys ,Nice to watch a proper skilful job being done, Such a rarity
Great video - interesting to see those jobs get done properly! I’m subscribed to here and to High Peak Autos, so will chase it up there too 😀. Looking forward to next videos.
I’m just thrilled that you’ve cleaned the airbox. It might sound silly but it’s what everyone would do if it were his/her own car but not many workshops do. 👌 4:35 More of those nice little details that only come with experience and will make a difference later on. 5:21 “we’re gonna torque them in at 28Nm”. Is that a reduced number because you’ve put anti-cease on them?
Great video lads, it restores faith in the motor vehicle industry seeing genuine hard work put into Matts pride and joy, my local garage is ex Mercedes mechanic and he is excellent as well, must be a Mercedes thing ! Keep up the great work ...
Underrated car. A ML500 is very comfy and top towing car. I still own one since new and no major repairs. Only the reservoirs coolant and washer fluid renewed because of aging.
You did an extremely thorough job 🙂 If only all garages were so conscientious. You should get a job at my local Mercedes-Benz main dealer. Half the time their mechanics (aka fitters). Couldn't find their own @rses, using both hands in a brightly lit room!
Here from High Peak. Like your video format. A good honest mechanic who clearly knows his trade. Subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your content.
Came to your channel via Matt's High Peak Autos. Really interesting stuff and a great advert for independent specialists. Don't have a Merc but have subscribed anyway.
Very interesting video of Matt’s car. It’s good to get an insight into why a parts replaced and it clearly shows the benefit of using a Mercedes specialist with all the years of experience.
Hi there, can I just say what a pleasure it has been watching you working on this ML. Calm, step by step approach, only changing parts when beneficial to the client, overall result appears to be a significant improvement in driver pleasure. Very well done. I'm sure this video on it's own will boost your business; I know if I still had a Merc and was still in the UK I would have confidence in you working on my car. Cheers Dave Like and subscribed.
Mate loved the video but I just need to take a moment to mourn my decision to buy a e53 X5 v8 instead of one of these. Despite being well aware of the stark difference in reliability and general fit and finish it was the styling of the ML that I could not get around. The e53 is a beautiful curse that has given me nothing but problems DESPITE the previous mechanic owner having spent countless hours under the hood himself. Currently trying to sell it before ANOTHER thing goes out. It will be an expensive 2 years and 6,000 odd miles that's for sure. A nice experience and lesson learned nonetheless.
Really enjoyed your video, Sam - I've subscribed. That car is a testament to how good Mercedes engineering used to be. Shame that they have let things slip with newer models.
Matt has got a good one there I'd have jumped on it. Love old lux cars. Unfortunately my local merc specislist doesn't do you tube so you'll do. My cheap 07 clk was was bought for the colour.
