crazy how many people think its fine to beat someone to death for spraying you with water.

They didn’t beat him to death. He fell, and hit his head. Everybody has an opinion, but I’m going by the expert that was the coroner, who did the autopsy who has no stake in this, but to present the facts.

He wasn't beat to death the coroner said the point when his head hit the pavement it killed him that's one punch in self defense in my opinion. If someone starts a fight and gets hit back and unfortunately hit his head and died it's not murder. No intent. Bad sloppy lawyering on this prosecution team. This is textbook involuntary manslaughter case. Guessing the jury was confused and bewildered by incompetence and overlapping instructions. No intentional killing required to prove a manslaughter. Typical bar room brawl fight where someone hits head and dies is an involuntary manslaughter. Intent to kill not an element. Only self defense is fear for your life. How did 3 guys knowing a dumb teen used a water gun to piss them off come to fear for their life when they stomped him? Doesn't fit.

I'm sorry for your loss but these two boys were minding their own business playing basketball when Ethan was joking around with a play gun. They didn't know it was a play gun. IMO It was Ethan's fault that caused his own death so why yell at the boys.
@mickid8852.... I am seeing this totally different from a parent's point of view. First and foremost, this young man should not have been beaten to death by three others. It was definitely overkill. In reviewing this case, the third man, the 21 yr old cousin who ran over to Ethan's car actually initiated the fight. The charges against him were dropped, why? They all realized very quickly that it was not an actual gun. It was not necessary for all three to beat on one person. This was not even a fair fight. I also read in some of the interrogation that the 19-year-old brother, after giving the knockdown punch, continued to hit him in the head several times on the ground, and the other two kicked him as well. If that wasn't bad enough, they prevented Ethan's 3 Friends from getting him into the car to a hospital. The 21-year-old cousin still wanted to fight the other boys, and they declined and actually had to run from the car to maybe even save their lives. Since they let their anger and aggression lead the way, this escalated to a beating death that should never have happened. I totally feel the incredible pain of the parents, just by stepping in their shoes only briefly. I will continue to pray for the healing of this family. Also, praying for these young men that going forward they will learn how to communicate without violence, and at some point in their lives can offer a heartfelt apology to the family. My daughter is grown, but I worry about our young people and honestly my heart is just broken. Thank you for listening and take care.

If you are not in Imminent bodily harm and danger of their life rather than face the threat if you are not then you are required by law to do your best to escape from the threat by leaving, running away, or getting help from a peace officer

Ethan was a white bad boy ! He started it. Everybody wanted to blaming the 3 black guy's but he started it. You do not pulled out any type of gun not even a (toy )gun on person at night.
