I am very excited and encouraged by your story. Thank you for telling it. I have struggled with debilitating migraines for at least 15 yrs. I'm not talking about episodic. I'm talking about chronic, 20 or more times a month, placed on disability, no hope. Recently, I ran across the idea of a nerve ablation or even block. I saw the nerve block Dr. today. He gave me the most hope I've had in years. I can't wait!!

Had migraines for years. After I had my 3 children, I needed a hysterectomy. Don’t know if you’re female or not. But mine was hormonal. After the surgery, my migraines left and haven’t had another since. I was in my 30’s. I’m at 65 now .

This is exactly what I've been experiencing for the past year. Its been a nightmare. Its rendered me unable to work its gotten so bad. Ive been in and out of doctor's offices and received numerous false diagnoses. Its a dull yet still painful (if that makes sense) sensation behind my right ear and the base of my skull and down my neck. Im 99% sure ive finally figured it out. Thank you.

I had a nerve blocker and I finally got some relief. Worst pain in my life, I would sneeze, or cough, and when my neck muscles tensed I would get the most incredible pain from the back of my head and radiate through my whole head. Had me curled up in a ball. They would last from 30 seconds to a min, but if I strained in anyway it would trigger it.

Ya if my doctor doesn’t do this for me I’m gonna file a grievance.. I get the shooting pain deep inside my neck and it’s a specific occipital nerve that is causing the pain but they feel that I have no idea what I’m talking about even when I mention the exact nerve over the phone. My doctor is doing video with me about this for the first time tomorrow and it better not get overlooked… because I’m not going to continue to live on an opioid.

I'm going to expound a bit...I have had migraines with aura status migrainosus for nearly 15 years, always on the left. I have been battling this and have had this killing any life I had. I'm on disability because these are at least 20 to 25 a month. I've tried so much "promising" migraine poisoning. I am so debilitated I can do nothing. Now, here's my question, why after this much time has one of the 3 best neurologists not brought this up?? We found out about it from a friend of my husband. So this last I saw a physician I brought it up. He says "sure, I can refer you for that". I HAVE BEEN in bed nearly all the time trying to find a way out. So, now I'm just trying to be hopeful this works and move forward. If ANYONE here has migraines or something like occipital neuralgia, ASK. You have to be your own advocate

Hello I have occipital neuralgia and have been in extreme pain for 3 years now. The nerve blocks aren’t working as well as they did in the beginning. I’m in pain every day. I can’t work, can spend time with my kids or grandkids, my life has been stolen from me. My MRI looks bad and I have abnormal signal intensity in C1 & C2. No doctor I’ve seen knows what they are doing or acts like they even know about occipital neuralgia. I read through your website and it’s seems those who have testimonials had head injuries. I’ve had no head injury so I don’t understand how this happened to me. I just woke up with a horrible headache that worsened as the days went by and it never went away. I have been researching occipital neuralgia for years since they finally dx me and can’t find any doctor who can cure it. They just want to medicate me. I’m in California. Your website says there’s only 6 doctors in the US that perform this surgery, can you list them please? Also I haven’t been able to work so the only insurance I have is Medicaid. Social security denied my disability so I’m fighting it in the higher court in Virginia. If the judge would have granted my Ssdi I would have my Medicare which would give me access to more and better doctors. This has literally destroyed my life, my relationships and my ability to earn a living. Can you please let me know of any doctors near or in California that can perform this surgery. I am printing your information on your website and taking to my pain management doctors. Hopefully then they’ll understand instead of treating me like a patient who doesn’t respond to tx. It’s not fun being home isolated and having needles stuck in my head & only having a few days of relief. Thank you if you can.

Head squeezing pain resonates more with IIH. Some have both conditions. I would see a Neuro-ophthalmologist.

@@dheeshakti948 thank you. I saw like 3 neurologists and they were of no help whatsoever, was very frustrating. I had the head squeezing/pressure for 5.5 months 24/7 but now seems to have stopped, however I have other symptoms that developed and have tightness squeezing in my fingers and legs and sometimes mid back. I can’t find the doctor to investigate this further as my brain scan and blood work came back as “normal” I’m being ignored and dismissed left and right 😥
