There is no equal Of course marry Of the books is the one I mean Thers so much More in the books than in the films Not to say that the films isn't good but the books gives you so much more back story of the man/hobbit Just saying 🇧🇻
I love Merry in the film, in fact, I love the film depictions of many of the characters, but very rarely do they reach the heights of their book counterparts.
As much as I love the movies, I have to say that Merry from the books is the greater one. Because of all the extra depth and detail, which is impossible to cram into even the biggest movie...
Honestly, I always liked the film-Merry the least of all of the Fellowship, but book-Merry and his life after the war of the ring was soo magnificent and inspiring. Love the character, as well as your videos!
Isn’t this a theme for Tolkien? That evil undoes itself? The witchking waged war on Arnor and as result the men buried in the Barrow Downs had weapons specifically to kill him. The ring curses Gollum to throw himself off a Cliff (according to Frodo) and as a result the ring ends up causing its own downfall. Pity saved the entire world while evil/vengeance kills itself
Merry of the books acts more mature and serious than his movie depiction. I think the movie has him acting to much like Pippen which is younger and less responsible. I like his character in the books because he is funny and looks after Pippen while being his best friend. By the end of the book he does a great job of ridding the Shire of the robbers and thieves, taking back control from Sharky. It would have been great if they would have been able to show that side of him.
What about Goldberry ?!?! Thank you for all that you guys do, and all the lore and knowledge you give. Hands down Merry of The Book but I do appreciate the actor Dominic M. for bringing Meriadoc Brandybuck to life.
Mae Govannon Mellon! Merry is a hobbit worthy of many discussions. Merry is a knight! Brandybucks ain't nothing to F@#$ with! Keep up the great work!! "ECTHELION!!"
My big brother was a mastermind about LotR. He had that book to hand as if it were a Bible. I remember finding a quiz book in a dusty corner of a second hand book stall and congratulating myself on acing the first quiz. Then it got serious. 20/20 - whoop whoop! 15/20 - Not too shabby! 12/20 - This is a bit extreme! 7/20 - Alright, but who the hell knows that shit? 5/20 - Haddaway and shite! My brother never got less than 17 and that was on the last quiz out of the five. I have a feeling that a few peeps hereabouts would have got along with him. So happy to have come across this nerdfest. I wish he was here to join in. Subscribed.
Merry of the books is the 'greater' Merry... I'd forgotten a lot of what happens in the books. It's been such a long time since I've read them -- only once since the movies came out, but I'd read them every year between 1980 and the mid-90s.
I've always loved Merry and how intrepid he is. I started my lotr journey with the animated movies as a child. Moved to the books as a teen, then of course the recent films and series. Ilove them all for their individual contributions. Love this channel as well, you've cleared up so many of my questions! I always wished we saw more of Tom. That being said.. What About Goldberry!
I read somewhere that the inspiration of Merry Brandybuck, was the legendary leader of a Welsh mercenaries, who's named also called Meriadoc (also spelled Meriadek), who settled Armorica (modern Brittany) in the fourth century and founded the house of Rohan.
The Fellowship bought Bill the pony from Bill Ferny, and Barliman paid for it as compensation for the loss of their ponies which ran away in fear rather than being stolen, making their way to Tom's pony Fatty Lumpkin. Merry and Pippin were comedy relief in the films, and their roles in helping Frodo leave the Shire and the raising of the shire were written out of the films. So certainly I prefer Merry of the books, as much as I love the films.
I have to get the books again and re-read, I remember Tom and Goldberry but especially Tom. I missed them in the Peter Jackson films, the first time I watched the films I kept thinking they left some Parts out but I couldn't put my finger on it. Your channel reminded me! Probably 20 years since I last read the books. So, WHAT ABOUT GOLDBERRY?
So what about Goldberry? Tom is such a riddle, but has been subject of several videos from several different channels, nu I habe't seen any of goldberry so far! woul love a video about her!
Merry: "Hey Frodo, don't forget to add in the book that an Uruk healed my wounds. Made me drink an Orc tunic that had me running like a madman." Frodo: 👁️ 👄 👁️
What-if video idea for you to do: What if Gandalf never fell at the Bridge of Khazad-dum and continued with the fellowship to Lothlorien and on forward?
This got me thinking for a what if video. As in what if one of the 4 hobbits or Fellowship didn't come on the journey. How big did the role of a single character play? Obviously Aragorn, Frodo, or Gandalf are massive, what if Legolas or Pippin stayed home?
Eh. The Goldberry and Tom Bombadil sections are ones I skip when I reread now. Except for Merry getting his dagger, it does nothing to propel the story forward.
I am now sadly being denied the joys of Fangorn relaying both Merry and Pipin with the long song's of Entlore, similar editing with the Audible happens here to. Ergo, I would not only appreciate more on Goldberry, but I would really like an unabridged version of the Lord of the Rings because I can no longer read properly myself any more. First World Woes I know, but seeing as the 50th celebrated release also edited out page upon page of Treebeard upon first meeting the aforementioned Hobbits...
The book is better in every way than the movies but the movies are still amazing in their own right if lotr the book was a ten the movies are an 8 or 9
One of the 4 Hobbits should've been the meat on the menu. King Theoden died, Boromir, Captain of Gondor died, the great Elven warrior Haldir died, but not a single of the little folks died.

He is also quite like to Frodo in mood and being somewhat edjucated.
Technical issues will not stop us! 😂 we hope you enjoy the video! Please share the love if you enjoy it 💚
What about goldberry
Since the book describes Merry so much more and in so much more detail than the movies, I’ve got to give it to the character in the book!!!
There is no equal
Of course marry Of the books is the one
I mean Thers so much More in the books than in the films
Not to say that the films isn't good but the books gives you so much more back story of the man/hobbit
Just saying 🇧🇻
I love Merry of the books. He’s quite intelligent and keeps a positive outlook. Not to mention, a sense of humor.
I love Merry in the film, in fact, I love the film depictions of many of the characters, but very rarely do they reach the heights of their book counterparts.

The book... 'are you going to bury me'? brought a lump to my throat when I first read it decades ago.
I 1st read the books at 12, told my mum when I grew up I would have cats called Merry and Pippin. I did ❤️❤️
1:01 Quite fortuitous that Merry had that barrow down blade that was specifically made to take on the Witch King in the past age.
Just a bit 😂
He used a cash shop item 😁

@@ivanvonbewski This exactly
The machinations of Illuvitar.
What about Goldberry? Thanks for all the work you put into these segments. I enjoy every one.
Thank you so much 😁

What about making some really amazing LOTR lore content? Wait, you already do that... I WANT MORE please ❤️
Thank you very much! 😁
What about Goldberry ?!?!
Thank you for all that you guys do, and all the lore and knowledge you give.

Merry of the book. Seriously one of the best of the hobbits.
My big brother was a mastermind about LotR. He had that book to hand as if it were a Bible.

What About Goldberry!
Merry is underrated as hell! Hes amazing
I read somewhere that the inspiration of Merry Brandybuck, was the legendary leader of a Welsh mercenaries, who's named also called Meriadoc (also spelled Meriadek), who settled Armorica (modern Brittany) in the fourth century and founded the house of Rohan.
Thanks for all the hard work you guys do.
Oh yeah I'd love to so video like this on Pippin to please.
Great work guys, love your vids soo much.
Bill was the only pony left in town, Ferny knew this so charged a fortune for him.
You guys are awesome thanks for the videos
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment 😁

It needs to be done 😁
Tom is such a Riddle, sounds like a Harry Potter pun 😂🤣
A nature spirit like Melian.
Merry: "Hey Frodo, don't forget to add in the book that an Uruk healed my wounds. Made me drink an Orc tunic that had me running like a madman."
Frodo: 👁️ 👄 👁️
"we are going to look at his whole story" then I imagined Merry saying Sauron's "build me an army" line that followed.
What about Goldberry?
Awsome video. I was wondering who Merry truly was. The movies didn't do him justice.
Another great video - thank you so much! What about Goldberry?
Nice work dude thanks
The Books and that's saying a lot!
You’re really making my 3pm at the office right now.
We do our best 😂
What-if video idea for you to do:
What if Gandalf never fell at the Bridge of Khazad-dum and continued with the fellowship to Lothlorien and on forward?
We learn in the books that one of Merry’s ancestors invented golf using an orc’s head, so Merry of the books by far.
What about Goldberry? Thanks for your videos, it always makes me happy when a new one comes out
What about goldberry...
Great work thank you
Best video ever.
I think the book shows the best characteristics of Merry.
Could you do a video on what would have happened if the Brown Wizard had claimed the One Ring? Sorry but I've forgotten his name.
Oooh that's a good one, I'd watch that video! His name is Radagast.
Radaghast (spelling probably wrong)
Good old Merry!
He also helped Frodo the day after Bilbo left
You make an excellent point, what about Goldberry?
The Merry of the books is the only Merry.
This got me thinking for a what if video.
As in what if one of the 4 hobbits or Fellowship didn't come on the journey. How big did the role of a single character play? Obviously Aragorn, Frodo, or Gandalf are massive, what if Legolas or Pippin stayed home?
I watch these videos like they’re medieval European history lessons
Bucklebury Ferry. :o
Eh. The Goldberry and Tom Bombadil sections are ones I skip when I reread now. Except for Merry getting his dagger, it does nothing to propel the story forward.
Merry of the Books is the best, of course!
Merry from the book is the best! And what about Goldberry?!
What about Goldberry, indeed! Daughter of the River. Was she perhaps related to Ulmo? Or perhaps one of the Ainur that served him?
BookMerry!
Let’s hear about Goldberry!!!
I am now sadly being denied the joys of Fangorn relaying both Merry and Pipin with the long song's of Entlore, similar editing with the Audible happens here to. Yep - Goldberry
What about Goldberry?
Great Video!
You forgot Hal Jordan. Although they retconned it as possession by Parallax.
book merry's emotional development is far superior. his defining trait (compasionate) love for his friends
Thanks for a great video. What about Goldberry🙏
What about Goldberry? Love the content!
What about goldberry.
Thanks for another great video!
YES!!!! What about Goldberry?🧐
What about Goldberry???
Merry of the books
Where can I find the map of the shire you used in your illustrations? A link would be appreciated.!.
If you search the artist name on screen you should be able to find it :)
Yes for Goldberry
What about Goldberry? Thank your for the video!
If not for Merry, Frodo would never manage to get to Bree in first place.
What about Goldberry?
I absolutely want a video about her!
Yes! What about Goldberry?
👍👍
So, what about Goldberry?? 😅
The broherum watching from Albuquerque, New Mexico....yes I know I spelled it wrong
That's very nice ... but: What about Goldberry?
have you guys heard about the LOTR MTG cards coming out later this year?
What about Dingleberry?
Absolutely, what about Goldberry?
Dang! Who else wants to be a Hobbit?
What about goldberry
Father time and mother nature.
What about Goldburry? I think they (Tom & Goldberry) might be a reflection of Tolkien and his wife?
The book is better in every way than the movies but the movies are still amazing in their own right if lotr the book was a ten the movies are an 8 or 9
What about Goldberry? Please and thank you. :)
For me he is an even important character as Frodo.
One of the 4 Hobbits should've been the meat on the menu. King Theoden died, Boromir, Captain of Gondor died, the great Elven warrior Haldir died, but not a single of the little folks died.
Halflings luck lets you reroll a natural 1 once every short rest
What about goldberry?!? 🤔
P.s. Merry is greater in the books and how does one view Ya'll's fan film??
It’s not out yet! Still in pre production :) channel members and patrons get exclusive sneak peaks :)
The lord of the rings 😍😍😍😍😍
Not a single character of Peter Jakson is better than the book ones, most of them got slaughtered. That said...what most people seem to overlook when talking about Merry is that he most likly was the best friend of Frodo. People take for granted that this most be Sam...but Sam even on "friendly tearms" with the Bagginses start out as Frodos servant more or less. I'm hardcore book fan PJ did wonders but books for me
The characters in the books are far better as you learn a bit of their background
How close is Merry in the movies to Merry in the book?
So...what about Goldberry? ;)
What about goldberry please?
GOLDBERRY
So, what about Goldberry?
What about Gold-Merry?
"What about goldberry"
