Sorry Dylan. You say the “A OF” means alarm off...it does not mean alarm off. It actually means auto off. Knowing when to “clean” the machine is indicated by the display showing “clean” (after aprox 200 shots pulled). Descaling is not required “after 200-250 shots”, as you mention. The machine will indicate when it is time to descale, based on water hardness and frequency of use, as well linear time passage.
Dylan, you missed the real advanced menus. When in standby (normal mode with temperature displayed) hit the up and down arrows at the same time. That will allow you set pre-infusion time and pressure. Cheers!
I pushed single shot and the power button but it doesn't let me go into settings to reset back to default. My father inlaw bought it second hand for his friend I'm trying to get it all working but I'm having so much trouble as I've tried to set the coffee shots to only go for 25 second but it isn't work PLEASE HELP!!
I'm amazed how fast the Dual boiler is ready to pull shots, I don't see the auto start feature as being so useful on this machine. It's ready in like 8 minutes! Although I don't think I've tried actually pulling a shot right when it's ready. With the heater in the brew group I think it should be, maybe with a quick flush to heat things up!
I have had the 920 for two years now. Was very happy it then I descaled it and had a bunch of issues with terrible shots. Now after about a month of screwing around, weighing, grinding, dosing, timing, etc, it seems to be back in line. Not sure if it was the rescale which apparently there are major issues with the menu driven operation. Just be careful and descale manually as on other videos here.
There are other service menus available to see error code and shot counts. The number shown is how many tens of shots, not the actual count. So if the number reads 92 it's pulled 920 shots. There is also a way to see the temperatures of all 3 PIDs for the boiler, steamer, and the group head. Didn't realize there was even a monitor of the group head. There are videos out there describing all these menus. Like most service entry menus in electronics, you need to unplug the power source and then re-energize while holding down one or two buttons / sequences. I believe the RUclips channel is Caffeine Fix.
Shot counter is not accessible on this machine by pressing any combination of buttons. It IS, however, possible by accessing the pcb and menu. This is done at an authorized service center, or by a resourceful person at home, with some tools and know how. 😉
Just installed my new dual boiler, brand new. how do I adjust the time for manual extraction. If I press manual button to start extraction, thinking that I can control the on and off time by pushing the manual button when I want to start and stop, well, the extraction stops when I push the manual button, but the machine keeps motoring, it appears it must have a default time period, thanks
I always start the shot by hitting the manual button and finish the shot by doing the same for my desired output! Congratulations by the way on your new machine
I like Celsius and the non weird American ways of measuring things usually, but for Coffee I prefer Fahrenheit because 195-205f is a nicer sounding and more granular range vs 93-96c Assuming your machine can be accurate to 1F, you can make a smaller change from 200f to 201f if desired, vs going from 93c to 94c! (not sure if those numbers convert accurately but you get the idea?)
@@BensCoffeeRants "not sure if those numbers convert accurately" - exactly! You do not even know what these numbers mean. And regarding the more granular scale: As if these consumer grade machines can actually control water temperature that precise. Think about it, the internal thermometer does not actually switches its encoder when you switch the temperature display on the machine. Of course not, it has one encoder and that works with celsius (maybe with one decimal) - like all digital thermometers do, so your fahrenheit display on top of being confusing also suffers from round-off errors.
@@mrk131324 I'd like to think they try to be accurate to the F. IF you're setting it to C then you have a bit more room for error. I think because the breville Dual boiler does have a heater in the brew group area, it could be relatively accurate. But I don't know how it's designed or programmed, you may be right, but I doubt you worked on building or designing these machines yourself have you?
Hi Dylan totally love your vibe but you have miss-labelled your video. You're giving instructions on how to work the regular menu not the advanced menu for this Coffee Machine. What I want is to be able to change a 'timed' dispense to a 'flow' based dispense. That means instead of the Coffee Machine expressing for 30 seconds regardless of the quality or grind of the coffee and then stopping, it will judge each grind separately and keep water flowing through the group head until it is satisfied it has met the flow of water requirements. So how do I enter the actual 'Advanced" settings for the Breville BES 920? And how do I then change from timed to Fow settings? Any help would be great! 😃
Actually, I phoned Breville and got the answer I was after. My cheat sheet is below for anyone else who encounters the same problems. (my question was how do I change the machine settings from a timed response say 20 or 30 seconds to a flow response which judges each cup by the quality of the coffee - 30 seconds at 8 bar is usually perfect) "flow" is for finicky coffee lovers who wants a precise control over their coffee and understand that the flow rate will change depending on how fresh the coffee is and from what roaster even the humidity of the day) ADVANCED FEATURES BREVILLE BES 920 Turn off Then press and hold the 1 CUP button, then also press the POWER button. What ist the Fahrenheit mode for? It is a machine for boiling water so why would anybody NOT use the unit that is based on the boiling point of water?

Do you know how to check how many shots have been pulled from the system log????
There is another video out there that talks about error and service codes. I think it's by a guy named Joe K.
