Thanks a ton for this video! I've been for a good review of how these two compares against each other. I do agree that that iphone 13 Pro tend to over compensate with HDR a lot. I used DJI Pocket 2 for many of my walking vlogs and is very convenient but lately, my footages from it is becoming too yellow indoors. I have it set in 4K 60fps and that could be the reason - not sure. Morocco looks amazing, visiting in January 2023 so your video location is spot on for me. :)

I would like to add, the good picture quality, gimbal stability and wireless lav mic in such a "COMPACT FORM FACTOR" sums it up for becoming the best vlogging camera for people who dont want to feel awkward in public while vlogging. I am waiting for the 3rd generation to come out.
Very true I’m a 15 year old content creator and people look at me very weirdly for recording in public, they get confused on why a kid is filming as if he were Casey neistat. I mean I’m not a small RUclipsr as well so this camera is perfect for me

DJI looks more natural especially with skin tones and has much better stabilization, but iphone has much better dynamic range. I wish you could put them together.
Osmo pocket 2 is a gem. It produces cinematic footages plus for daylight condition it has HDR mode even though we can shoot upto 2k in HDR mode but it's ok I still get natural details, no over sharpening. Osmo pocket 2 is for cinematic vlogging. 😊💁 Loved the comparison though.
I like the iphone 13 in both video and picture for vlogging. However, dji pocket is also useful especially when you are travelling to countries where showing your phone is a big no no.

I really can't stand the atrocious processing in both photo and video on my 12 Pro Max. I got that phone back in early 2021 expecting it to blow my old Pixel 2's photography out of the water, but it didn't. At least Apple dialed the waterpainting effect a bit back on the new 14 Pro, but only when you shoot in 48MP ProRAW. Anyways, appreciate this great comparison video! Hopefully it creates more awareness for this issue.
DJI Pocket 2,We live in Thailand, bought it and used it for a while, the motor was hot and knocked it out by ourselves, sent it to a repair shop that provided the service, they told me that this symptom is not insured. Today, still hasn't reported anything back. It's really unfortunate. It's not worth buying to use, so it's a waste of money. a lot

I really want to pull the trigger on the Pocket 2, but I REALLY want to wait and see if a 3 is in the works with a removable battery and a 1 inch sensor possibly. I’d assume since the Pocket 2 has been out for a year, that there will be a new version (I hope) soon.
@@runner7395 I’m also in the same boat. But dji releases pocket usually in November, so unless you’re willing to wait. Pocket 2 came after 3 years of pocket 1, so I think just go for it, I’m planning on getting it soon. It’s not very expensive like the iPhone. I think the non combo is enough.
I have had 2 defective devices already from the pocket 2 which is unusual for a DJI product so i don't know if i'm just unlucky or if there is just less quality control for this part of their lineup. However I say don't wait, you can find these on sale for quite cheap and if the mavic lineup is any indication just because they release a new killer device doesn't mean this won't still be a great tool
I feel you captured the essence and use case for both well. Its kind of amazing how good the pocket 2 is. I don't understand why the Action 2 looks worse than the Pocket 2, its the same sensor, I guess EIS has a lot to do with that. Both are a great tool and I agree with your assessment in that the iPhone is better for when you need to quickly grab a moment while the pocket is great for that as well, however is more suited for composing deliberate shots. I did see another video where i preferred a lot of the shots from the action 2 but that was just because they overexposed a lot of the pocket 2 shots by half a stop. But i agree it is hard to justify paying for a flagship iphone or samsung these days when you can just get a cheap xiaomi or smth and keep something like this with much better stablization and picture quality in your pocket.
exactly im absolutely baffled how Action2's footage is worse than the pocket2, having being released later,,, this really puts doubt into my future purchase of cameras from DJI I hope the rumored pocket3 with equivolent camera to Mavic Air 2s is not worse than it...

hello from the blue city chefchaouen, i am a photographer and i was randomly looking for the comparison between these 2 and i end up being watching the footage from my city Lol
I already have a phone since a year (oppo reno 6 pro) and think it's stupid to change phone every year just for a better camera. But I needed a dedicated camera for travels, because I don't like filming with my phone, in busy places, it's so easy to drop it on the ground or get robbed. Plus I find it not easy when you have small hands to film in landscape mode. I found an almost new DJI pocket 2 for 190€ today, I hope it will do the job.
Thanks for the detailed review/comparison. Didn't expect the iphone to beat the dji. I liked its HDR video and good details in highlights. But to think, the dji is much cheaper, and gives good and close results.
Mech stabilisation and wireless mic on dji is a clear winner. At the end of the day, you can buy a simple gimbal and mic to attach iphone. You can always work around to get most out of it. But If you are vlogger kind of content creator, i guess dji offers the best compact package. I never like the idea of creating content with the smartphone.
Pocket 2 looks better, sounds better to me. Also it’s nice to have a dedicated vlog camera. iPhone is good in a pinch or for an impromptu, unplanned video.
Bottom line, lots of pros and cons to both devices, this video breaks down those details really nicely. Hopefully the iPhone 15 Pro Max corrects some of the iPhone issues, especially the stabilization.
I kinda prefer mostly the iphone shots on your vid. Maybe because I don’t know a lot about camera, color grading or photography stuff but I am planning to buy DJI as well. 😂

I prefer the cost and form factor of the DJI but I kind of like the iPhone's brighter, "oversharp" HDR. DJI looks "dull" to my eyes. Isn't there a way to pump up some DJI's manual settings to closer match that (not in post-production)?
I find it remarkable that, unlike Samsung phones, the iPhone does not have a switchable electronic stabilization function with narrower field of view (crop).
I like the color of iphone when there's a sun hitting the subject. it's more like the saturation is high in iphone than the pocket 2. that's what i like about iphone but when it comes to steadiness pocket 2 is great. the color of pocket w is also nice but i like iphone's color way more better because of the saturation. it just looks pale in pocket 2
If you don’t have iPhone and no dji pocket, the second would be a better choice because it is smaller and cheaper. If you have already an iPhone, I think it would be better to get the dji om 5 gimbal + set the electronic off

For me I think that just using the phone is always gonna be easiest with how close the quality is between phone cameras and standalone cameras these days because you can start editing immediately on your phone and post the video quicker without needing to deal with transferring files

Thank you! I wouldn’t say the iphone has dramatically more detail, I’d say oversharpening. Use iPhone when you need a telephoto camera or if you do like the look of it) other than that, I’d prefer the DJI Pocket 2
So very different. My opinion - even if you have the nicest iPhone with most recent camera - which in my opinion is fantastic - stills better than photo though imo. I’ll be getting an pocket 2 or may wait for pocket 3 🤷🏼♂️

I really love my Pocket 2. The quality is so great, and not over processed, or over sharpened.

Gimbal stability is far superior to electronic image stability especially in low light footage so DJI pocket 2 wins hands down

Well, DJI2 is better in lowlight for sure, but still not perfect. I’d wait till DJI Pocket 3 I think

iPhone is nice, but it still looks just like a phone video. DJI is more cinematic - the image is much closer to film cameras.

If you don’t have iPhone and no dji pocket, the second would be a better choice because it is smaller and cheaper.
If you have already an iPhone, I think it would be better to get the dji om 5 gimbal + set the electronic off

For me I think that just using the phone is always gonna be easiest with how close the quality is between phone cameras and standalone cameras these days because you can start editing immediately on your phone and post the video quicker without needing to deal with transferring files

Use the flattest profile possible and then color grade in post
the qualities of the iPhone I find it better than the dji pocket

Thank you! I wouldn’t say the iphone has dramatically more detail, I’d say oversharpening. Use iPhone when you need a telephoto camera or if you do like the look of it) other than that, I’d prefer the DJI Pocket 2

My opinion - even if you have the nicest iPhone with most recent camera - which in my opinion is fantastic - stills better than photo though imo.
I’ll be getting an pocket 2 or may wait for pocket 3 🤷🏼♂️

I was thinking why to get the Dji2 if you have an iPhone, but then I was thinking would I be comfortable keeping my iPhone on a stick in a foreign country after seeing on youtube how many get stolen even from the hand of its owners?
