What Is Your Curly Hair Type?? 2A, 3B, 4C? | BiancaReneeToday

- What is your curl type? There are so many different shapes, sizes and textures to curls so they are broken down in to categories. In this video I explain all of the different hair patterns. It is very common to have a combination of two types of hair because things like density, length, porosity and over all health of your hair, play a factor in defining your curls.
Figuring out your hair type can get tricky but you should at least know if your hair falls under type 1,2,3 or 4 so you can find products that work best for your hair type.

Hahahaha relatable
Thats tuff lmao
😀😁😋💇👒❕❗
Poor thing 😳😩😔
Does anyone else has the problem that your hair is like different every day? Sometimes my hair is 2b , 2c or 3a🤔
yes i wash my hair and its curly but a coulp days later its a fizzy wavy hair.
Same
Yes I do experience this ALOT and it is honestly confusing 😭
Omg I thought I was alone I'm not sure if it has to do with me being mixed and multitexture😔😕 mine it's from 3b to 4a "I think" lol people compliment it often BUT "freeze" is my last name 😰😂😂
Yes I'm between a 2B and 3A more like 2B and 3A and my hair changes from day 1, to day 2, I can wake up the next day , with under curls or curls and waves, like riglets or type S shape or a lot of loose waves or some waves lack of definition to where it looks soggy and loads of frizz. It all depends on what products I use too, and how I sleep 🧖 etc.. I'm so frustrated with it. If I add to much product to keep them soft and defined it can get weighed down like a mop. It's so hard to manage or a giant frizz ball . It's give or take. 🤦🤷😵
I have 3a, 3b, and 3c hair . Where the mixed squad at?😂

Same I have 3 hair textures on my head.
Type 3c in the front of my head, type 3b on the crown , type 3a on top and the sides.

My tip = squeeze the water out of you hair before you condition so it soaks up more product ❤️
that tip applies more to high porosity hair
Some say apply product on soaking but I've been squeezing the water out. Damn how many tips are there😥
thank you
Mixed Girl Magic try both and see what works best!
You actually want to have your hair be really damp so the leave ins and other stuff distribute evenly. I suggest not having dripping hair, but wet enough hair then when you put your hands around it and squeeze it it makes an audible squishing sound.
If you still hear the same squishing sound while applying your product through, you're doing it right.
Well edited video and straight to the point. 🤗
YAY! I was trying to give a lot of info but still keep it precise! Thanks for watching!!

Next time your hair is curly pull one of the curls to show how long it is when it's straight
One Of Those Weird Fangirls u
I have type 3C/3B hair with low porosity! Here are some tips for your hair:
1.Don’t use light weight products since the hair can get very frizzy
2.Use deep conditioners a lot to get extra moisture
3.Use den man brushes when doing your curly hair routine
4. Use a gellé for more definition
5. Buy a diffuser if possible to dry your hair quicker
6. Use a lot of oils for extra moisture
JustRose oils are actually bad for your hair
sarah jonha no there aren’t they are very benificial to your hair in terms of moisture especially if they are 100% virgin
if your hair is damaged from over-processing from colour, or is weak and fragile, you need to get amino acids into the hair shaft, so definitely don't want to coat your hair in oil. hair oils - and especially coconut oil - tend to seep into every tiny hole in your hair shaft and disguise the real problem to act as a quick-fix; this won't help your hair in the long-run and is one of the main reasons I advise against using oils in your hair.
sarah jonha Oh well I didn’t didn’t know that thanks 😊
no worries just happy i could help you learn how to better understand the type of products you should or shouldn’t be putting in your hair. unfortunately a lot of times people like seeing quick resolutions to their hair problems rather than treated their hair for long term benefits. but in reality when it comes to anything really, long term goals are always best.
It's honestly really sad to say that I can't remember what my curl type is :(( I am 21 years old and have been CHEMICALLY RELAXING my hair since I was 11. I am bi-racial (afro-brazilian and white) and since my mom never new how to do my hair properly she just took me to get it relaxed at a really young age. I have never had the courage to go back to natural but now I see so many you tubers doing it and i think I am really ready to start this journey. Looking at pictures I am pretty sure my hair is in between 3a and 3b hair. I haven't gotten a relaxer in 6 months and that is the longest I have gone in 10 years. Your videos are really inspiring
The same thing happened to me. One thing I will say is that I expected to have the same hair as when I was a toddler but hair changes, especially when you go through puberty. When I was little I had 3a hair but now I have 3c. I've also heard of some people having their curls get looser as they get older. If you take the plunge just know it can take up to 6 months for your hair to truly go back to its natural state, or even longer
Savanna Mitchell thanks for the reply, I feel like my roots are a lot currier then when it used to be. Probably all the way to 3b. I've heard hair changes too, I just can't wait to see what it really is
I know what you feel because my mom did it to me when I was about 10 years old so my curly hair became really really straight. But honestly I didn't like that at all so last year I cut my hair which was almost at the middle of my back to my neck where my hair was actually curly again. And now I really like my hair and I have a 3b
Me Myself Mariah don't feel bad. I just started to go natural. I haven't seen. my curl pattern in about 20 years.
I BELIEVE IN YOU! in the end of your journey it will definitely be worth it , it's possible😘
I don't even know if I'm 3A or 3B... some curls looks like 3B, others looks like 3A
I commented this video you can have both. That's very normal
I have 3a/3b don't be confused!!

Me tooo
Omg me too...the top half of my head is 3a & the bottom half of my head is 3b/3c..it's so annoying I wish it was more unified.
3C/4A what works me is apply leave in and a styling cream WHEN IT'S SOPPING WET BEFORE GETTING OUT THE SHOWER and then just let it hair dry. it helps me with frizz A LOT.
I'll try this because the frizz is real😑
+Cerrone Samuel tell me about it!
+Cerrone Samuel right Samee
The soaking wet hair thing worked guys. I can take my mind off of returning to the creamy crack now. -_-
+Cerrone Samuel I'm glad it worked for you! I would also suggest a diffuser. My hair is short (3 months post big chop) so drying time isn't so bad.
I have 3c/ 4a and my tip is to DEEP CONDITION WITH HEAT. It helps so much with entrapping moisture
Thanks I have the same hair type as you 3c/4a 💁🏽♀️
Can you give me the name of your products please !!!
I don’t have a dryer though :/
Jaz use a plastic shower cap or a plastic bag and put a hat over it and that generates heat.
Jada’s Lyrics okay tysmm
My hair is a 3b. My daughter's hair is a 3c. She uses shea moisture products on her hair and about 4 months ago she started appying coconut milk to freshly washed damp hair and covered it with a disposable shower cap for an entire day or overnight once a week then rinsing it throughly with warm water. Since then her curls stretched but are extremly defined and sooo soft. The shine of her hair is incredible. It's so moisturized and not greasy or weighed down at all. Mine on the other hand...well...we won't talk about that😒
thank you gonna see if it works for mine too, mine is just so frizzy some times
angel nicole i'm totally gonna try this thank u
I think my oldest is a 4a how do I deal with it? She is 13 and wants it down.
angel nicole thanks I'll ask my mom about it
Did she apply any coconut milk? Or which one ? I need to try this!
My type 4 hair is not hard to manage. I actually dislike the typing of our hair. Just another division.
It's not hard. I agree.
alamoja Ikr? I think it's only hard to manage when trying to make it look like another type.
xEmpty.Abyssx But it's not hard to maintain. It's what u make to be.

I really can’t tell if I’m 2c or 3a the confusion is real
Maria Mrm me to
I feel your pain!
don't worry, I'm the same. It is probably due to the volume and amount of hair. My recommendation is to use mouse or light-weight gels, it will give a nice shape but not too greasy or hard. also hydrate the fuck out of it, like deep condition once a week and never skip conditioner. let it air dry too!
It doesn't have to be in one group. Your hair can be 2c and 3a at the same time. For example. I have 4b in the front of my hair and more of 4c at the back.
Eisakan Redneal yea the problem for me is figuring out the right products to use and maintaining that balance mc between the textures because it does make a BIG difference. My hair is wavy but almost straight in the top and on sides, but the rest is very wavy with...the worst part is it has VOLUME.😞 so yes, it's a real struggle when the back says yes but the top says wash it out to products
I am type 3b/c. I would say moisture is the key thing for me. Deep condition and a leave in are a must! 💕
😊😍👍👍👍💕
My hair was like the girl in the video when it was that length. But when it got longer it turned into a 3b or some wavy shit. I'm confused what I am.
+Orlando Cruz Oh. My best hair tip is to always add a thin layer of a light oil to freshly washed hair before adding any other product to put back the oils you washed out.
YESSSS
3c curl
I'm a 3a and a 3b. Sometimes my hair is all 3a and sometimes my hair is all 3b, and sometimes I have some curls 3a or 3b. But overall I would say I'm more of a 3b on a good hair day😂 Also does anyone else have the issue with the under layer of their hair having better defined curls while the top can get kind of messy
Omg Yes! It's such a struggle
I’m definitely more a 3b/3c but the under-layers of hair hair aren’t even curly it’s just flat and really light like 2a it’s the weirdest thing.
@@sarasaeed4600 lmaoo the weird flat look is always on the top layer of my hair so I gotta add some volume😂
Yes I understand you
Fully I’m the exact same I depends on how I dry it
I am 2c-3a ..my tips are to keep your hair really hydrated and add your styler in the shower , while your hair is still soaking wet
I’ve got 3b/3c/4a hair it’s confusing.
amelia Balfour omfg same!!!!! Do u have any tips or good products u recommend??

Oh ya it is
Between 3b and 3c
My tip: Work with wet hair ❤️
I get so confused. I'm mixed so I feel like my curls are between 3b and 3c, but I can never tell. I just now found out about curl types 😣😣😣
My daughter is mixed and I think she's a 3B or 3C depending on the day or product. I would love to know what people are using because Cantu and a few others have alcohol in them and they dry out her hair. What is a NO alcohol styling product that is quick? (She's 3)
@@jmauer85 Not 100% sure about the alcohol content but I've had really good results with "Crème of Nature Conditioner Leave-in Strength & Shine with Argan Oil" and "Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Defining Lotion". Both are fairly inexpensive and available at Target.
Aniyah Battle omg yes, water is key 😂👌🏽

@@curlyheadlynn6237 i felt this 😂 i have 3b/3c hair but more 3c and it’s so hard to find someone with 3c hair for me 😭
You black or white?
I have 4C hair and I think that we 4C girls should really use oils like coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil etc and massage it into your scalp for 2-5 mins as it helps with blood circulation which can bring the nutrients your hair needs. Also if you can you could spritz water on your hair every night, because water is a good moisturiser, and then seal it with some oils. Also drink lots of water and eat healthy food. The L. O. C method works too.
Hope this helps 😉
Thanks that'll really help me :). I'l try that out
Thanks for the advice
Wow, they seem legit I'll try that thanks
LOC?
Miss Confident Girl/Boy What Is L.O.C Like everyone talking about it I’m left behind wondering what the heck is L.O.C?😂😂
3b 3c squad wya???!!
marie molina here!!!
3b is mine
marie molina I'm a 3b
marie molina 3c right here!!!
marie molina no :(
I am 3a but sometimes I can lean towards 3b.
My no. 1 tip would be to take a little bit of your product and add it gradually until you reach the desired look. (Too little and it hardly does anything and you are left with your bed hair). Too much and you look greasy. Another quick tip is that if you feel like you aren't getting anywhere with the product you are using, STOP using it for that day. It may be a bad hair day and adding more won't help. I suggest a ponytail on these days. :) Also, use Loads and I mean loads of conditioner, it is your best friend. :) Hope this helps.
Thank you sooo much! I will definitely use these tips. Go 3a squad! ;)
yes!!! I agree
Thanks!! 💗
Type 4c kinky coily 😤 how do I take care for this desert on top of my head
Marsha Joseph lmao deep condition weekly and use the the WLO(water, lotion, oil) method daily or every other day
It’s cute I like it u can have my 4a🥰 I take yours
When my hairs wet it's like 3B but the next day when it's completely dry it's a 3C
Dancing Stars mine too but 3a on the sides
Mine to.
You're not alone 💝
I have type3 3A hair and I find myself using less product if you apply to much product to this hair type you will literally flatten your hair volume and it will look greasy so I recommend the less product the better to refresh my curls I just use a mix of water and conditioner and I let it air dry hope this helps someone 😊
gardenia Campos same girl I have 3A
I think that's what I've got. (My profile pic is old and the salon straightened my hair that day) I've read that oil is bad for curls but most of the products contain oil. Argan, neem, grapeseed, olive, coconut...it's overwhelming! I'm turning 40 this year and just now I'm learning how to take care of my curls. Crazy!
gardenia Campos me too, thank you for this comment
I'm a combination 3b/3c - my curls need moisture and respond better to milks and light weight creams. I can also use oils and butters
Yes for me too
Same here! Type 3c/4a and light milks and leave in and creams are better for my hair. I am also Low Porosity. I make my own oils.
3C mixed with 4A?!
I always switched it up if I want my curl pattern to mixed my outfit 🤣
Sometimes I wash my hair with shampoo 🧴 and than put in some conditioner and after wards I FINGER COMB it through to have some loser curls.
If I wash it condition it rinse and than comb through my curls are all sticking together and my hair Shrinks to above my shoulder ( the shrinkage is real 😭😭)
or I wash it comb it condition it this makes my curls look more 3b/3c
After I conditioned I will put some product in, I change it every few months because my hair gets used to it and than it won’t work anymore..
Hey have a question Are the roots of your hair frizzier and harder to curl than the rest of your hair? If so how do you manage it?
Mine are too! So if you have any clues 🙏🏼
I was a 2a until I stopped using shampoos with sulphates and conditioner with silicones. Then my hair went all the way to 2c with the occasional 3a curl. I was definitely in the 'I didn't know I had curly hair' category.
Same here. Even my stylist says I don' have curly head
Would you mind telling what shampoo and conditioner and stylers you began using on your journey? I feel like my hair also has this potential but I can’t find a good silicone and sulfate free line :(

Who Knew ? Yep...me too. Totally depends on what I do with or to it. I can go from 2b to a 3b or c depending on whether I baby the curls and really scrunch it a lot.
I bet if you started doing a lot of things with your hair you could get it to be all the time curly

Who Knew ? Me too!
Who Knew ? Yes mine too!
My hair type is a 2a, 2b, and sometimes 2c hair texture and some of my tips for that hair type is:
Do a deep conditioning treatment at least once or twice a month to keep the right amount of moisture but not overly moisturizing your hair considering it is already pretty straight. a good leave in conditioner, the one that I recommend is the it's a 10 the original kind. And I wouldn't recommend using a lot of oils but for 2 type hair I think the best is either coconut oil or olive oil they both work wonders for 2 type hair!😁
thankyouuuu xx

I'm really going to give olive oil a try because coconut oil isn't working for me like it used to.
Coconut oil is way too heavy for my hair. Will def try olive oil! 🤗🤗🤗
+Latavia J it could be the environment/weather/time of the year because the same thing happened to me. Fall/winter it worked wonders then Spring/Summer came along and it wasn't working for me anymore.
I have the same hair type and I use all those types. Also another good tip is to was your hair 1 or 2 times at the most and to co wash.
Olive oil is the bomb.com I recently started using it and my hair feels great. it seals in all the moisture. I have 3c/4a hair. I think :') sometimes it travels down to 4b if I don't moisturize.

I have mainly 3B hair with some 3A and 3C. While I have a good ammount of hair, my hair strands are very fine. The most important thing for my hair to grow and look nice is to try and prevent breakage and make sure it is always moisturized. I've just started my hair journey and am going to be using a silk pillowcase and hair ties that prevent breakage.
If 3c is tight cork screws then my hair dresser ssid it wrong. I might be 2c 3a and 3b

I love mixed chicks
I have 4c hair. My number one tip is wash your hair in twists. It helps with detangling and styling is quicker.
Thank you so much!
That is so helpful. i alao have 4c hair and struggle with it. sometimes I get so frustrated I dont wanna deal with it and just put mt hair in a loose bun
Thanks so much
I am a 2c/3a mixture (before you ask my picture is older) and these are some things that work for me:
- detangling hair in the shower with lots of conditioner
-i use a 100% cotton tshirt to dry my hair
- i use Not Your Mothers kinky moves curl cream and a little bit of Tresemme hairspray (not the aerosol kind) as far as product and then airdry or sleep on it.
-also rinsing conditioner out with cold water helps with frizz too.
-if you are 2b/2c/3a then India Batson would be a good youtuber to check out!
Natalie Williams i have also that type of hair, but in my case i dont know what to do with it, cause half of it is curly (3c) and the front part is to straight i cant even make a single curl :/
I use kinky moves too and I have 3A hair and I love it. It's one of the only products I can use and not worry about it looking bad at the end of the day if I don't have time to touch it up.
I'm also in that range and if like to say that keratin oil actually really seems to help tame my edges and baby hairs.
Natalie Williams I have 2C/3A too and have to use loads of conditioner to detangle and the products that I use are the gorso shampoo and conditioner and the gorso dry conditioner and tresemme gel and moose also really thick hair bands cuz my hair is very very thick
Why people with wavy hair complaining about hair problems?
And I'm sure someone with kinky hair is gonna say "why people with curly hair complaining about hair problems?
Type: 4A+4B hair.
-moisture (every day “refreshing”)
-gentle detangling
-low manipulating
-clean scalp
-healthy ends + edges

-deep conditioning😉
Me too❤ loved these tips thank u
You have 8 Abs... Sorry I just-
Xylaii 😂I-
i have the same type as you and i dont know what my hair type looks like when its defined or if it can even get defined, can it?
im type 4a super super coily and my biggest tip would be to cowash throughout the week and shampoo maybe only once a week depending on how often you wash your hair to keep it looking moisturized and DEEP CONDITION that is a must !!! Also ACCEPT your shrinkage 😊
I use to hate in high school when I would straighten my hair one day then the next wear it curly (3c) and people would legit ask "did you cut your hair?!" Like it's two completely different hair types 😭
SAME except it was opposite, im 3a to 3b and one day i flat ironed my hair and this one girl asked if i cut it... i straightened it and she asked this... so i said "ummm no" and in my head i was "common sense much?"
In hair type 3b my top types are: comb out your hair like 3 times in the shower with a wide tooth comb and your fingers. Don’t wait until your hair is dry to style it. Use a lot of moisturizer Cantu is my favorite to use and you don’t have to get something expensive like Diva Curl.
I use cantu for my 3b hair as well!!!!
I have 3b hair and i use cantu deep treatment mask as a leave in/ styler and it works so well on my hair
3b here and Cantu is where it's AT. lol
I also use Cantu and I love it but I can’t always use the same product because after a while I notice that my hair will get used to hair products and the product doesn’t work as well in my hair so I tend to change it up sometimes. Another really awesome product that I found that works for my hair (I’m a 3b as well) is generic value products liquid sculpting gel. It’s a very lightweight gel that I personally like because it holds the curl without making your hair crunchy or too gross and dirty from product.
Another tip I would have for 3b or even 3c people is to once in a while think about getting a resting hairstyle. I know that for me my hair is extremely hard to grow and the only way I can achieve a little bit of length is to get sew in hair extensions. Not sure if it’s just a me problem or a 3 hair texture problem.
Some part of my hair 2a(usually the back ones), some 2b and some strong 2c(the front pieces).
I don't use any heat or colouring but my hair is so frizzy and when it waves/curls, it only lasts for 30min-2hours and gets really frizzy as soon as I step outside.
I hate it so much tbh.
Oh my god me too! like it looks 3a really defines in the morning, and then i look in the mirror at school during the day and it’s already an ugly 2b-c but just very poofy and frizzy and no definition
@Radi SAMEE!!!
4b/4c Many people have tried taming it and it just won't fall to it's knees.....I needs help
I can totally relate, I too have 4b/4c hair.
Lol...I have 3b so I can't really help but I've seen the twist out technique work well on kinky hair, search it on RUclips
use coconut oil
Amy Ndiaye coconut oil and argan oil will be you best friends. Also shampoos/conditioners with macadamia oil
Use carrot oil .
I have 2c/3a hair and definitely stay away from heat. Also using cold water to wash my hair and using a wide tooth comb in between wash days to eliminate that nest of knots that can accumulate at the mid/bottom of my hair. Also I love using light oils on my ends and midsection of my hair to kept up shine and definition!
I have 4c.and I think the best thing is to be patient.and oils that are really good are:olive oil, coconut oil,Shea moisture, cantu and etc

Update: one full inch in a month from a like 3 year plateau
Omg finally somebody who has my hair type
also i have 1 thing to add to ur comment be careful about cantu products cuz some have alcohol in them
I'm a 2b/2c, and I've found out that microfiber towels and naturally drying your hair with cooler air gets rid of a lot of frizz, and I've been consistently using those tips and they work! Also heard that wavy or curly head types could benefit from a silk pillowcase :D
Ik it’s been like a year, but if I were to use like a hair dryer but put it on cold air setting would that work. Also, would I do that when it’s super wet or like when it’s 80% dry or sum
@@_ryry11 i forgot about this comment 😭 but yes that would work! it depends on what works for you and your hair but id say try out 100% wet first and if it doesnt work for you, try smth else :) i usually air dry until its half dry and then put hair oil on the ends but that’s just me!
I'm hair type 3c-4a , my hair was very damaged and know I don't use any heat my curls are more spirally , the best product is cantu coconut curling cream because it's a thick and moisturising but it doesn't make your hair feel heavy!😅💕
I'm also a 3C-4A, before I straightened my hair I was a 3b-3c. The conditioner that I love and does wonders for my hair is OGX. I've only tried one Cantu product but it didn't wofk
Tilly Diomande any other products u recommend? Cuz i have the same hair type and its annoying....frizz...lack of moisture....
Thank you for posting! I haven't used Cantu Coconut Curling Cream yet, but I'm excited to try it now! I use Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Deep conditioner (it doesn't have the best smell, but it does the job!) and sometimes I mix it with Shea Moisture High Porosity Deep conditioning Masque. And Kinky Curly Knot Today is my favvvvvvv leave in!
me too
Tilly Diomande i use a leave in repair cream from cantu but no regular conditioner do you have any tips for my frizz?
i have type 4 hair and for me....stretching my hair in twists or braids makes it more manageable. leave in conditioners and deep conditioners are very important for type four hair.
I'm type 4c😁
Agreed, am 4c
Samee I'm 4c with a little bit of zigzags which is 4b.
I'm a mix of 3b and 3c with a lot of ringlet/corkscrew curls
I love 4c hair and I love the little ringlet coils! GAH! SO beautiful. I just bought a practice mannequin and she came out of the box looking almost matted. I had NO idea if she even had curls, or if it was just going to be frizzy and slightly wavy. I WASHED her hair and put in a collagen spray (Guy Tang's My Hero X2) and rinsed. It makes the hair instantly soft. You can finger detangle or use a pick or wet brush to detangle. Then, I used Llanza's Trauma Treatment leave in and 2 drops of Olaplex No. 7 bonding oil per 2" section. I did a twist out on 1/8" curls and let it mostly air dry. THEN diffused it after it was about 75% dry. It will look like this girl's haur after I cut in a shape. I am loving the curls. As a professional stylist, I HAVE to kni7w how to slay natural hair and all forms of curly hair. People see my straight blonde hair and assume I know nothing. I can't wait to add looks to IG. White stylists do not get enough experience with natural hair. I have to do some mannequins before anyone will trust me with their curls. LOL
I want to buy one of those mannequins
3b/3c DEEP CONDITION YALL
once a week
+Lauratu Bah what do you use!? The frizz is killing me
+Mayelin Hernandez cantu !!
+Lauratu Bah how do you like/use cantu? i got the curl activating cream and the cocoanut curling cream; i'm still figuring out how to use them.
+hannah clifford i have 3c hair. To prevent frizz I deep condition, do a leave in, use a moisturizing cream, apply a light oil then use a styling gel. Eco is my fav. I find that the oil reduces crunch and the Eco gel prevents frizz and allows my styles to last 4 to 5 days
I am 4C
I’m type 4a!!! Tight curls poping sis!!!
I'm a bit late but do you have any product recommendations?
same lol
Me too lol
Me too girl ✊🏽💓
3c/4a -
VERY DENSE, medium porosity, fav products Cantu moisturizing curl activator and Aloe Vera gel (fruit of the earth) - Keep it simple
I’m 2c, 3a & 3b, and I swear every day my hair is different. The only advice I can give at this juncture (since I’m really late jumping on the curly girl bandwagon) is moisturize! That’s the one thing I very rarely did before and my hair was always awful! I hated my hair the majority of my life, now I’m finally starting to love what The Good Lord has blessed me with! Curly Girls rock!
I’m 4a. Thanks for the vid! My biggest tip right now is to not assume that all type 4 hair is coarse. I have a LOT of hair(s), but the individual strands are fine. So heavy creams generally don’t work for me. Shea butter and coconut oil, for example, make my hair greasy and stiff.
As a fine haired girl with 4b/4c hair(with some 4a). This definitely needs more likes
I was surprised when she said its not defined. Type 4 as beautiful coils.
I'm a white (Italian, German, and Irish) girl with 3C/4a hair (is it even possible? Because I been reading up and I kinda fall between). Love watching your videos just because of our curl type matching and your advice not leaving my hair oily. 💜
really that's so cool, I've never seen a white person with 3c hair
I always think of the girl from the movie brave XD
+Chocoholic Beauty You don't get out much then
Cammy Ruez no i guess it s just facts, lets be real its not everyday somebody has 3c hair whose white 3a maybe but NOT 3c
+Chocoholic Beauty I'm 3B . . . would loooove to be 3C
lol I'm a 16 year old white girl with curly hair that my mom had no idea what to do with, idk where my curls came from, but my hair has been straightened from the time I was 7-8 all the way up until I was about 14 and I decided to finally let my hair do it's thing, it was so so frizzy at first like a 2a-b but like huge, I was so used to brushing out my straightened hair dry, than it just became a mess, now I'm between 2b-3b depending on the day, cause my hair has been so dyed and heat damaged, but within the last few months I've really decided to cut the shit and get on the curly game, easpecially since people now accept me and my hair for what it is and aren't constantly telling me to straighten it, if anyone has some tips, feel free to let me in on them?!!!
I'm not sure if you switched to brushing your hair only when it's wet - otherwise try that. And experiment with different types of conditioners and hair brushes, they make a lot of difference for my hair. Hair oil might also work well depending on how greasy your hair gets.
Good luck with finding what works for you. :)
I know your pain took me until age 25 to really figure it out. I wash my hair with conditioner, shampoo only when necessary (sweaty gym day, camping for a week) but wash it every three days w/ conditioner only. As for products, I have found the freezes line works great. The spray in conditioner first, and you can't use too much its awesome. Then the dream curls spray to help define your curls as it dries. I also use the curling moose for some hold. Dry it with a defuser with your head up side down and hair hanging forward. Cool to warm heat. Try not to use hot it will frizz. When almost dry flip it up, shake it out, let it land where it wants to, spray with hairspray. Good luck, play with products, find what works for you. Just remember moisture is your friend and heat the enemy.
Work with your hair while its wet, use deep conditions, condidioners without sulfates and silicones, leave ins, all of it. When you detangle do NOT use fine toothed combs or tight brushes, use a wide toothed comb. Some people really like to use diffusers to help their curly hair, I personally dont but it could work from what ive seen. When you put in any kind of moisturizing product do not forget to put more in the bottom than anywhere else because the bottom is what maintains the frizz and controlls it the most. Unless you want crunchy hair, dont use gel products until you feel like your hair will work with it or else it will be really hard to manage your hair. Mousse will also normally cause frizz to your hair, but it makes it shiny tho. If you want an alternative, tea tree oil and jojoba oil, even coconut oil can really help your hair shine more. Anyway thats all the tips i got :')
Madison Lewis okay i’ve 1,000% been there. conditioner are the curls best friend! pay attention to ingredients in the products you use. also don’t dry your hair with a towel, dry it with a t shirt
I need help! My curls can be between 2b, 2c or, 3a depending on the day and I’ve really gotten into the “curly girl method” the past 4 days?😂 it hasn’t been that long but I ordered a bunch of products off of amazon and I can’t wait to try them out. I’m 15 and I didn’t really realize that I had curly hair until I was 14 when I figured out what a diffuser was (my mom has 3b curls and doesn’t need it so she never showed it to me😂) I’m so new at this pls send help 🙏😭 I wash my hair at night and it gets ruined in the morning smh :(
I have mostly 2c waves and on the bottom of my hair, I have 3a curls. I also think I have medium porosity.
I don't live in the US so the collection of drugstore cg friendly products is very limited here. I either have to dig for them at the "natural stores" or order them online. Sometimes shipping can cost more than the product itself! So frustrating!
Anyways, I use the Not Your Mother's Curl Talk shampoo, conditioner, cream and gel. They all work great for me! I use more product on the 3a curls on the bottom. my left side of my hair gets more volume and definition so I part it to the left. So to refresh my hair I use a water bottle to get my hair damp and add a bit more conditioner and cream. I do this until day 4 when my hair get smore oily on the roots and frizzy on the ends so i just put it in a bun or a braid. Then, in the evening of day 4 I wash it again.
I wait until it fully airdries to pineapple my hair for sleeping.
I wish I could get a satin pillowcase but the catch is- I'm only 14! So I don't get to make that decision 😔
Anyways, I hope this helped someone with their journey ❤️💙
This is great thanks
Thanks for making this! 3b/3c :) I don't have advice - I need advice lol! But the only thing I do is sometimes just wet my hair and put leave in conditioner and it looks better than when I use actual conditioner in the shower :)
Y A N I Z A frizz factor!!!
Y A N I Z A What leave-in?
Yaniza cantu leave in conditioner after you get out of the shower!!!
AM A 2C/3A TYPE......tons of frizz and poufiness..I tried so many things-and I think I found one that works! :) ION Repair-the shampoo, the conditioner, and MOST importantly, the BB creme! I wash and go now-waves and curls are popping, and NO frizz!
Carrie Ruston do they have silicones and sulfates
SAME! I've been trying different methods/ products. I love all things devacurl and sheamoisture. For styling to get the most definition I finger coil the hair that frames my face and the back, I diffuse on cold air and midway through drying I add more devacurl ultra defining gel, scrunch it in, and contiue diffusing.
My natural hair is 3a/3b, but looks more like a funky 2b/2c with 3b roots due to massive heat damage. My tip is to stay away from HEAT!
Same pls help
Me too!!!
My hair type is a 2c/3a I really recommend the Cantu coconut curling cream this product really defines and moisturizes my curls and I never get that much build up from the product
Works for any hair type? Bc I'm wayyy far away from your hair type
3c/4a
I love the definition cantu gives, just makes my hair feel heavy and dirty. Plus a itchy scalp.
This was the best thing since slice bread for almost a year for me then out of NO WHERE it just stoped working it made my hair look a WHOLE mess😭😭 now I’m just at a loss I don’t even know what to do with it. It’s normally just a high bun😩 but it’s starting to break off my hair now it’s just a mes

Kaylee same and funny I always thought it was 3c maybe because it wasn't healthy but after cutting it and taking better care of it it's def 3b 💕
3c/4a low porosity - medium density
- glycerine and honey to moisturize
- steer clear of heavy oils (unless to seal your ends)
- use styling butters sparingly
- use a clarifying shampoo every 2-3 wks to get rid of build up

ashli white thank you
My hair type: 4b
My hair is extremely dry frizzy and I still don't know how to take care of it. It's very short because I did a big chop so when I sleep on it, I wake up with frizzy hair even with a satin pillow case... any advice always appreciated!
Yvette a good leave inconditioner. wet/moisturize your hair every night and either twist or braid your hair and put a silk bonnet on along with your silk pillow to eliminate frizz. It’ll also help with breakage and single strand knots. The key to a our hair is to protect the ends.
how you figure out your hair was 4b. I have an z pattern. It defines with product and water. Without its dry. My hair neck chin lenght. It is thick. Am I 4b?
you need to do protective styles like braids or twists to help grow and strengthen your hair . Type 4 hair is fragile. It needs to be protected. If you continue to do this your hair gonna keep breaking. Hon your hair is fragile!! Protect it! Wear bonnets at night time. Find an detangler spray and leave in. Avoid gel. That dose nothing for your hair but, make it hard and crunchy. Natural hair is supposed to be soft. Look for products that make your hair soft. Its ok to use gel for wash and gos. Which should be done infrequently. But, if you could replace gel with an softer product for wash and gos that would be great. If you don't know what an wash in go is, its the process of defining and moisturizing your hair. By washing your hair first then adding product. I hope I could help. If you want hair growth oils , sure. But it might be an process. Be patient and care for your hair. Use oil sheen for frizz control and dryness. Wash your hair good and deep condition . Do Blowouts for length and more volume boo. Use heat protectant . Don't use heat a lot . That will damage your hair. Your journey has just begun.
@Laura Clarke your welcome boo
@Laura Clarke I really glad I could help you . Have an great day love 💙
4a make sure you stretch your hair to prevent one strand knots! :D
Thanks for the tip! I have type 4A-4B hair and i have manyyyy single strand knots!
Natanya Mitchell yes!
how does one stretch hair?? i always get those one strand knots
RI OUED some examples of stretching hair would be braiding it, twisting it, banding it, blow outs, etc. :)
thankyou! :-)
Mine is weird most is 3b put there are strands in my head that literally go all the way up to 2b. It's because I'm mixed
It might be your hair cut!! i find that my curls are looser at the top when I have long hair. But once I cut my hair into layers, the curls shrink right up and I have tighter more defined curls all around
better2gether same!!!
Same here
better2gether same but instead I have 3a type hair

Just curious why the 3's are the only ones in the title
there's type 2A and 4C also in the title
+Wilda Mondestin the title was altered after I commented
+Destiny hmmmm 🤔
I think my hair is 4a but it does not look like those pictures
My hair texture is 3c/4a my hair is really curly and has a lot of shrinkage. What I would recommend is message your hair with natural oils for 3-5 minutes and that with help your hair grow. Another tip is to let your hair air dry and when damp put what ever oils you want and detangle after the shower the do your natural curly hair routine😌
Good information thanks I have the same type of hair
This really helped thank u again I'm afro~latina
3c, 4a squad

Heyyyyy😄😄😄
Ayyyy 4a shrinkage is real though 😩
3c right here

3A Dont brush out of the shower, only brush when IN the shower and wet af, apply oils (argan is the best) /creams to moisturize but like don't exaggerate, DONT TOUCH THEM WHEN DRY, never put them in buns or ponytails bc the curls are ruined after you do :(
cameliansn caster oil is amazing too
Have you found a good way to protect your curls when sleeping? I'm 3A and also find that putting my hair in a bun or ponytail ruins my curls. People usually suggest sleeping in braids or pineapples, but it stretches 3A curls out. I haven't found a good way to protect them at night. I'd love to hear if you've found a way!
Maybe try using a sleeping bonnet and put it on by flipping your head upside down like you would when you dry your hair with a diffuser. It'd scrunch all your curls up and keep them in place longer
children of corny thanks because argan is a tree nut I'm allergic to it... something I found out AFTER I put it all over my head and wondered why I was scratching my head eyes and nose for two days and sniffing
I love the argan oil but it actually straightens out my curls:/
long, fine, dense 3c/4a lightened hair
-don’t bother with a wide toothed comb, it makes everything much much harder and a tangle teezer is a much better option
-shampooing wont dry your hair out if you aren’t using some janky stripping one. Sulfates aren’t bad in moderation either
-don’t try to fight the frizzy roots by loading gel/thick creams onto them, it’ll just cause buildup
-don’t slick your hair back everyday or else your edges are gonna be s n a t c h e d and not in the good way
-if you have lightened hair, be more gentle with your styles/detangling, your hair isn’t as strong as you think it is
-i’ve never gone wrong with shea moisture (aside from the gels, stay the hell away from most of them) The shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners, and curl creams that i’ve used have never put my hair in worse condition than i started out with.
-use thick creams/butters for wash and gos unless your hair is low density AND fine
-if you don’t want super fluffy hair, for the love of god use a gel or something with hold. If the product you’re using doesn’t say it gives hold, don’t get mad at it for not giving hold
thank you dear
i have the same hair & shea moisture has literally never let me down ever. their deep conditioners always make my hair feel amazing & i definitely agree with the gel too. don't expect to have your hair stay down if you don't use the right product😂
I have the same hair type. So does Shea Moisture work for you or no because I was a bit confused at that part lol
@@Doneuproche it does, it’s a good place to start but just don’t use their gels lol

Thank you so much!
I'm 3a too so any tips that you can share with me please? I'll try to think of some tips for you if needed
actually same, im now a mix of 2c and 3a but it helped get it more curly, i'm still working on it though
What is the curly girl method?
great video. definitely have a new subscriber😏

i️ think i’m a 2b and tbh scrunching is the most important thing to create defined waves. also, sleeping with your hair in a bun/pineapple is the best way to preserve your texture & prevent frizz
katiegrim
What Products do you use an how?
katiegrim yay I finally found someone in this comment section who has the same hair type as me
THANK YOUU the bun really works!!
I'm 2b/2c. Im pretty new with CG. So far, I've learned no oil, lots of scrunching, gel on wet hair, sleep with a pineapple. Very happy with new curls. :-)
The top of my head is curly but the back and sides really lack definition, tips?
Me too :(
It could be damaged from heat or manipulation, I recommend protein treatments to restore the protein in your hair and using products that wont way down the ends of your hair so it doesn't take away the curl.
2c and 3a just really scrunch I use deva curl super cream but just a little dot and ultra defining gel and I spray it wet with some set it free spray for hold and finger curl my hair it gives it great definition and makes my curls much tighter
Thanks 😊

Ayyyye!
Same! What products do you like?
I can't use creams. I live off of mousse and a little gel and if I have an extra hour - diffuse dry.
Meeeee :)
I dont think my hair fits a specific category but rather in between 3a-3b-3c but I have major texture problems. My hair is soft so my curls do not stay for long at all 😩 the minute I put it up in a bun my curls deform. I don't even use hair bands because most of the dent my hair and leave it looking weird. Has anyone else ever experienced this🙄🙄
i have..........
GURRRRL SAAAAME I thought I was the only one🙌🏽🙌🏽 I've been doing so much research. My hair is damaged by heat, tightened and hard. I've tried avoiding hair ties for a long time, also heat, and This new shower, curly products, and mainly new hair masks, and I'm getting my hair defined by curls again. Don't worry girl, I feel you.
(Display picture isn't me)
Yes! I have 3b hair (mostly...some 3a/3c in little sections). My hair used to dent like that, but once I started moisturizing A LOT more, it doesn't bend as much (not sure if that's the link, but I noticed the change after that). Plus I try to keep the ponytail holders a little lose if I do put it in a bun. But when it was denting more, I would try to just stuff it into a satin Bonnet at night with no ponytail holder at all.
I find that happens to me when I'm using too much moisture in my hair and not enough protein, the curls get 'mushy' and don't want to stay, especially if they're up in a bun. Try using a protein conditioner once a week or mix it in with your regular conditioner on the daily.
Same I thought I was the only one...
Thanks for the shoutout to us wavies 🤟🏼people are always telling me I have curly hair and I’m like “no it’s wavy” 🤣
This is the best video ive seen on hair types all the other ones arent edited as well or organized 👏🏾👏🏾
I have 3a 3b 3c
i’m curl type 3c&4a
tips:
- i wash my hair every two weeks but i cowash or condition it every other week
- i deep condition every week
I think I'm the same as you and I was thinking of doing the same as the tips you just gave . Alternate wash and cowash
i have the same curl type... what do you co wash with?
thanksss bro. i needed this
From your picture you have kinky hair more like a 4a/4b
I think I am have the same!! If I need to see defined curls I tend to have to use eco gel! Works great but you know....
