for anyone who has type 2 hair ( a, b or c) , i highly advise you to use sea salt water spray or ocean water, if you can get it naturally. Not only will it reduce the risk of dandruff, but it also tightens your curls and enhances your waves. But if you use normal salt and water, it could be very harmful. Also, dont try to use it everyday or every time you shower. For example, you could use it once whenever you shower. try sleeping on a silk pillowcase instead of a cotton one. It would reduce the frizz and less breakage would occur. when it comes to tying your hair, use scrunchies instead of thin rubber bands. if youre drying your hair, try using a microfiber hair towel or a t-shirt, if you dont have such towel. the t shirt would prevent frizz and absorb excess water. use hair milk if you have one. it provides moisture for your hair. lastly, eat fruits and veggies more often. oranges and grapefruits are some fruits that decreases the risk of frizz, and drink water every 2 hours or so. *EDIT*: i hope you try these hacks one day and leave your opinions about it on the comments! Also, rectify me if i have made any mistake or if the suggested tips are incorrect. Have a nice day!!
My mom has 1b and my dad has 2b. I ended up with a mix of straight hair and majority 2a and 2b types of hair on my head. The front part is pretty straight, and the back is wavy. Very hard to style all my life. Was worse when I was younger when I had 3x the amount of hair that was actually 3a curly. As I got older the hair has lost most of the curl. I’m planning to grow my hair long and braid it. That weight will pull it down and keep it tame. I’ve had short and medium hair styles that were messy chic. I’m tired of the messy look.

Ah, I think I must be 1C, I've had so many hairdressers over the years tell me I have "Asian" hair (my ancestors were Italian, Dutch and black Irish, which is actually Spanish). Can't hold a curl, not even when I got a perm back in the 70s! Definitely agree with the "cascade" hairstyle suggestion.
@@christinalim2320 u never brush curly hair, ever. U can take a comb to it to detanglr when its wet but never brush ur curly hair, especially when its dry
I’m a 2a!! Loads of people ask me why i don’t style it often but it is a NIGHTMARE!!! if I wear it down for less than an hour it clumps up and becomes a crazy knotty mess!! Very hard to look after but gorgeous if you know what your doing. Pros to my fellow 2a’s!!
The thing about Asian straight hair (because there are rare ones with waves and curls…I am one of them with 2a and 2b) that is different is that Asian straight hair never frizzes even in humid weather. Just never changes its shape whether, dry, wet, semi-wet. Also, each strand of hair is totally straight, including the little hairs near the hairline. A lot of Caucasians I see with straight hair have wavy baby hairs or ends that curl. Also Asian straight hair is a bit thicker stranded and has a smooth shine. In the shade it is black but seen thru the sunlight it can have a red or orange tint. This is something I notice doesn’t exist in other races with naturally black hair.
For the 4th hair, the most curly and short one. I felt like the discluded it. All they said was: “greatest shrinking, very hard to comb, more to take care of ” all the other hair types got attention. Especially the straight hair :(
I’m sorry but you see a lot more style options with straight hair it’s always been that way in the western world anyway for example African women with hair such as 4C may style it there own way and it would only apply to people with that hair type not the rest of the world I’ve also spoken to many black people who would agree their hair can be very hard to style and that’s coming from myself who’s a 3C
To be honest, your information for 3 and 4 hair types in totally off... you shouldn't be washing your hair too often as it is, and cool air dries out your ends. Using certain products also damages hair....
Between 2 b and 2c, i just love them because i can literally do whatever i want with it, i can take the curly hair look or just get a straight look, thats just a blessing
I disagree with lumping all the #1 hair types together when giving care advice. Type 1A is _drastically_ different than type 1C. As someone with thick, coarse 1C hair, I have only ever found two stylists out of dozens that actually knew what they were doing with my hair texture. Volume is something I already have naturally, and I do NOT want more of it--in fact, I always have my stylist thin out my ends, otherwise my hair poofs out. Also, my hair can hold curls without product for two days. Sounds like the only hair types this video knows anything about are 1A and 2A.
1a hair should have two thicknesses. Baby fine and limp, and thick stranded. Maybe yours is thick stranded so it adds to the volume. Also if your hair changes shape in any way on its own or frizzes in humidity, then it is not actually straight but has traits of 2a and 2b. I have 2a and 2b hair on my head. My sister has 1a and it is stubbornly straight. No humidity changes her hair whatsoever. Or maybe your hair is between 1 and 2. Just my thoughts, maybe I’m totally wrong.
U can't get offended when it's true. Our hair takes time to detangle and a comb isn't just gonna go through it easy which is why wigs are used cause wig wearers say it's more manageable and easy to deal with
The easiest to take care of is obvious 1. My sister has 1a and she just gets up and go. She doesn’t even have to comb her hair. It NEVER knots. She gets a trim now and then and that’s it. She goes swimming in the pool, shampoos it, then let’s it air dry by itself. Zero maintenance. Beyond 1, it is all increasing maintenance from there unless you go for a buzz cut.
So, I figured out how a way easier and less time-consuming way to find out your hair type. Step 1: Find a mirror. Step 2: Look in the mirror. You’re done!!
Lilo Kivesh 4c hair is wayyyyyy thicker than what the example showed us. It’s like an Afro but very coily. Your right they have no idea about 4c hair, neither 4a or 4b. Those examples had 3b and 3c type hair .
I was trying to figure why these examples are so off. I’m 3c/4a and my hair type wasn’t even displayed. 4a in this example seemed like 4b and 3c seemed like 3b. Andre Walker didn’t even mention type 4c curls in his book
I’d advice you to use castor oil 100% organic. it helps with frizzy hair, damaged hair, hair loss, it helps your hair grow much faster. But don’t use it too much. Use it 2-3 times a week and massage it in your hair it’s best to sleep with it or you can wash it after one hour. But use sulfate free shampoo because the ones that do contain sulfate can cause frizzy hair or hair loss
@@michellelyston8566 I thought they were implying the damaged hair was leaving. Like hold up, why was my damaged hair still with me when I did the big chop?
I have 1A hair and I agree 100% that it is super soft and shiny, but it has ZERO volume, gets oily very quickly and it doesn't hold a curl for anything. 😭 I wish I could style it but it just won't hold no matter what I do to it. 💔

While the classification of hair types does a decent job to figure out wash, condition, and best styling products for hair, it flops the moment you own more than a single hair type or texture. More important, hair products to support a specific result on the hair type may quickly work in another fashion and or require further processing on an alternate texture....The moment you include frizz into the equation- some hair types never experience frizz- hair becomes far more complicated than it seems.
How is a cartoon with an afro specifically white, or yes, not white, for that matter? He actually is represented pretty well to me. I'd bet it is a stock image, maybe the choices were very limited. If anything, I could agree that the lack of choices is the, uh, root, of the problem. OK, had to have some "dry" humor.
Thank you for this! I have been trying some solutions and I think I finally know my hair type. HOPEFULLy. I will try these out since this could help my hair's health.

So far from this, I think my hair is like across the 3 and 4 spectra depending on which section I grab. And my hair doesn't look awesome from just letting it go after I wash and add oil/leave-ins. Probably because it's obvious that it's like multiple different types.
2c-3a type. I was told by a stylist to wash in shampoo but not condition, then allow to air dry without combing or brushing in anyway, to find your hair type.

My hair is a mix of 2b, 4A, and 3c
Im a mix of 1c and 2a
yea my hair is a mix of wavy and straight!
Especially the straight hair :(

i disagree.
and thats all i'm going to say.
No matter what type of hair you have, you are beautiful💙.
No I'm not
I disagree with lumping all the #1 hair types together when giving care advice.
“Extremely hard to comb” please don’t discuss 3b-4c hair ❗️👌🏽 This video was trash
You can finger detangle it...it's not fait to comb it.
Its not easy to comb though.
I have 4c hair and it's hard to comb, so speak for yourself
If you aren't using the Right products then of course it's hard to handle. Learn what products work well and it wouldn't be a problem at all
U can't get offended when it's true. Our hair takes time to detangle and a comb isn't just gonna go through it easy which is why wigs are used cause wig wearers say it's more manageable and easy to deal with
Honestly I still don't know what my hair type is ...lol... Edit:Wow I have 29 Likes it's not much but it's my Most liked comment

But my hair doesn’t pass like 4b
Wut😐
Ik
My mom is 4B
Maybe ur doing ur hair wrong and that’s why it doesn’t look like 4b
The easiest to take care of is obvious 1. My sister has 1a and she just gets up and go. She doesn’t even have to comb her hair. It NEVER knots. She gets a trim now and then and that’s it. She goes swimming in the pool, shampoos it, then let’s it air dry by itself. Zero maintenance. Beyond 1, it is all increasing maintenance from there unless you go for a buzz cut.
So, I figured out how a way easier and less time-consuming way to find out your hair type.
Step 1: Find a mirror.
Step 2: Look in the mirror.
You’re done!!

I was trying to figure why these examples are so off. I’m 3c/4a and my hair type wasn’t even displayed. 4a in this example seemed like 4b and 3c seemed like 3b. Andre Walker didn’t even mention type 4c curls in his book
I'm supposed to be 4c but I'm like sorry honey that is not 4c
Yea have 4c and it's so hard to comb
hold up, you're telling me to throw away my hair product and just worry about volume? what about damaged hair? wait where are you going? hello?
I don’t get the ending of your comment
I’d advice you to use castor oil 100% organic. it helps with frizzy hair, damaged hair, hair loss, it helps your hair grow much faster. But don’t use it too much. Use it 2-3 times a week and massage it in your hair it’s best to sleep with it or you can wash it after one hour. But use sulfate free shampoo because the ones that do contain sulfate can cause frizzy hair or hair loss
@@vintage1017 They're implying that the narrator is walking away because they're too afraid to answer the simple question.
