This video made me question my curl type... I always thought I was type 3c but seeing Ellie made me think 4a but listening to them my hair reacts more like 3c. That’s it I have type 3D
I used to have that issue but now I do multiple pineapples (2 work for me) and I make them really loose by putting the hair tie about 2 inches away from the ends of my hair.
This used to happen to be so what I do now is put my hair in a very high pony tail just wrapped around one time and put my hair above my head when I lay down so it doesn’t get messed up when I sleep. Then I use a spray bottle to refresh it in the morning.
I’ve been natural since 2010 with the same issue until maybe about a month ago. My pineapples were lacking because my hair wasn’t long enough so I was stretching my curls but also my hair wasnt being properly moisturized. Since I started henna glossing once a week, my pineapples are awesome. Before glossing I could never manipulate my hair without loosing curls
NaturalNiche you are just transitioning. I feel ya girl! I’m a wavier curl, and I used to have 2B and now it’s somewhere in between 2c/3a. Texture changes every 7 years so that might be a factor
@NaturalNiche I don't know what my hair type is either. I haven't relaxed my hair since 2001. Like others I have different curl patterns throughout my hair.
lfutrell82 You know people are starting a no oil movement in the natural hair community? When I saw that ish, I was like, *laughs in type 4.* Like you do you, hun, but I need my olive oil!
In my opinion I would say she has 3C/4A hair because her hair seems curly kinky more than fully kinky and i'd say Bianca is 100% 3B. Both have amazing hair!!!!!
I don't know what your hair looks like but if it's anywhere near waves even a little I think wouldn't it be between 3A/3B like another youtuber 'lovehalsa'
Bianca is more of a 3c imo. She has pencil sized curls. Her hair is more fine though which is why it's so silky looking. I think the other girl is a solid 4a.
Bianca is a silky 3c. If you look at the type chart her curls are 3c but her hair is fine and silky so ppl assume if it’s not kinky then it can’t be a c. I have 3b hair so it’s more elongated therefore I have way less shrinkage.
I am "only" wavy/curly, so not even in your league, ladies LOL but I use the *very* same products as tightly coiled ladies like yourself, but I just use less product. That seems key. The same products, just a *lot* less of it. I, for instance, use about a coinsize of the curl enhancing smoothie, a coinsize of gel, and a coinsize of serum on my almost classic (bum) length hair and it works for me just fine. Love it. Thank you for the great video and the channel rec!
Mr. Magoo. I use it all. Regular drugstore products that are just for everybody (I just pick the conditioners for dry damaged hair as those are the most moisturizing on the market). And then for stylers I don't know. I use Cantu, I use Every Strand, Aunt Jackie's, and Shea Moisture, and I'm 2c, 3a on a good day.
@@briedelapine3939, I'm 46 years old. I have used just about *any* conditioner on the market so far. It's OK. It's not on the market for no reason, meaning if it's on there it's safe to use.
The denman brush was the worst thing for my hair and I have type 3c/4a hair. Even with the thickness of my hair and everything it was too rough and ripped my hair out also. Glad I wasn't the only one lol.
You're absolutely right. I thought this too. The misinformation is occuring because a lot of type 2s are claiming to be type 3 which is pushing type 3s into the 4 category, confusing the type 4s and messing up the whole community and causing misinformation and incorrect representation of the hair types.
I’m new to your channel & I’m in transition because I used to be one of the girls who hated her curly hair and straightened my hair every day. I gotta tell you I love your videos & you have been my hair angel!
I think my hair is the in between of y'alls haha, my hair doesn't get volume unless I put my hair up in 3 little pineapples. But it has spiral curls and looser curls and the shrinkage.
Great detailed & informative video on caring for type 3 hair vs type 4 hair, Bianca! I have type 3 hair, and loved hearing about how to care for type 4 hair. I will be checking out Ellie’s video with you later on today.
Very interesting! I would love to see this kind of comparison video with porosity and strand thickness as well. I've found that some products that people with low porosity, fine type 4 hair recommend can work on my 2b hair, since it is also fine and low porosity.
Love this video! It’s awesome to get a perspective on different curl patterns and hair types from both of you ladies. It’s so crazy that a little bit of both hair regimes I either do and/or certain products work or don’t work in my hair. With that being said, I finally figured out that I am definitely 3c/4a. I am loving my natural hair journey and all hair types/curls/patterns, etc are beautiful to me!
I loved this video! I have type 4a and this video really helped me out, especially with sleeping and refreshing routines. I will definitely be trying out some of her methods, thank you!:)
I have 3c and 4a hair and what I find helpful is only using one product in the shower that will both cleanse moisturize, like a cowash or 2 in 1 product. I find that using a no poo and a conditioner over washes my hair and leaves it’s dryer and undefined. Then out the shower I use the Loc method leave oil and cream no gel because it will be to weighed down. I air dry for 20 mins and then blow dry upside. Best wash n go routine for my hair type.
Yesssss I was like is that dopecurlzz before the video even started 😂. Looking at the clips your curls in the front do look like 3c...definitely not 4a but you do look 4a on the sides and back. I think you look all 4a here because of the volume and frizz instead of all defined! I love this video. I’m 3c/4a so this video is very informative for me all the way around. I use the denman brush for definition ONLY in the front/bangs of my hair otherwise I use a wide tooth comb to detangle. Also some of my hair works with a little bit of water & oil and other parts of my hair I have to use a little bit of cream and a little gel otherwise the frizz won’t go away, CRAZY!
Thanks for having someone from a dry climate on here. I have type 3c curls but live in CO and its so dry out here, and it's so hard to keep my hair moisturized. I'm gonna have to try some of these methods. 😊
I love that you found DopeCurlzz because her and I have the same hair. The only difference my curls are a little more defined. She also understands the whole living in a desert thing because I'm in Utah and it can be like that. I love this! Thanks 😊 #snapfam #curlygirl #type4hair
I like that the Denman brush gives uniform curls but it shrinks up my hair dramatically but I do the blow dryer method as well but that frizzes up the hair much faster.
Wow! I love this video. I was told I have 4a hair based on the size of my curls but my hair doesn't look like Dope Curlzz hair. I don't know what my hair type is I just know how to style it. Lol! But it was really neat to hear how different textures style their hair.
Maria João Leandro hey! I know it’s not really the same as this and probably won’t be as helpful cause it’s not a curl talk/ discussion video but Bianca did do a collab with India Batson (2c hair, def recommend checking her out!) where they swapped hair routines. I just went back on Bianca’s channel and it’s from 7 months ago if you want to watch it :)
Thank you for all this info. I’m finally starting to pay more attention to the type of curls I have and how to really take care of them. I’ve worn my hair very short since 1991 and I’m just realizing that I can let it grow with all the products that are out now that keep curls tame and not wild and crazy like back in the day. I used to use Dippity Do for roller sets in the 70’s! I’m still confused about porosity though. My hair will definitely frizz and shrink at the first sign of humidity. Is this high porosity? I live in Las Vegas also.
I’m a 35 year old man with no business here other than AdHd. Never looked hard into the spectrum that heavy(SUGGESTIONS BROUGHT ME HERE) but from my perspective there was a clear difference even with my mixed Panamanian friends and that was density and curl pattern. Stopped using different curling/YtPpl gel because it literally wasn’t necessary. Any picture you see of me with these locs over the past 8 summers has been product-free.
Love this video! I feel like my hair is in between both of you ladies.. so Ellie’s tip about water with oil for refreshing was def interesting! Can’t wait to try that!!
I love learning more about hair styles. I have 3a, 3b, 3c hair. I shampoo / condition and 6 box braid every 4 days (2 days up and 2 days out of braids and with a pony tail, with just condition every other 4 days. Air dry only. A wash and go would be nice to learn.
Amazing I love this video and the Q & A session I learn best that way! My hair is type 3 in the front and in the back and type 4 in the crown LOL this video was totally for me!
Mine is 3b,3c, 4a. I just said 3c because is how the most part of my hair is! I like to use apple cider vinegar after the conditioner for two or three minutes, to close the cuticles, balance the ph and add shine to my hair. Just for every 2 weeks or once a month
This was AWESOME! Thank you for this, I really needed this and it was good to see. I’m type 4 also!! I refresh just with water and oil also. I like to shampoo and condition, I love adding moisture.
Great video. I'm 3c and my daughter's are type 4. Already subscribed to Bianca but will be subscribing to dope curls too. Thanks for the video. Very helpful for my family
I love the diversity of Afro textured hair its like none of us have the same curl pattern maybe similar but its unique to us. I love my type 4a hair one day i can wear a straight up fro ( its most natural state) and the next throw some cream or Gel in it and rock my curls defined and spiraled A.K.A wash n go. The styles you can achieve with afro textured hair is unbelievable we have the most versatility of any hair type I wouldn't change my texture for the world!!.. I know it can be some work dealing with tangles but if you keep up with a steady regimine it becomes a breeze. I use to deal with single strands knots 24/7 but now I'm religious with maintaining my strands and the longer it gets the easier it gets I'm finding. And if you cant get defined spiral curls like some so what love what you got its all beautiful!! Once you learn to love your natural hair nobody can tell you nothing!!!
How do you know if you got 4a hair? Whenever my hair has not product its and dry afro. But with gel and products it really defined. So am i an 4a or 4b. I have z pattern and little circle coils. With gel it looks like 4a
@@jamiegatson3378 I would have to see a picture of it honestly. But whether its 3C through 4C we all have an afro with no product in our hair its just about curl size.. Look up the curltype chart on google and take the little cool test if its still on there. Also porosity is all a major factor too you can have two 4as but theyre hair responds differently to one another theyre are so many factors with this natural hair stuff lol.. I'm considered 4a Medium Porosity, Medium Strands, and medium to high density. My hair looks texturized when moisturized even without gel and holds on to moisture for along time and typically 4as do well with wash n gos but no everyones hair likes being free and will immediately knot up with in a few days when trying to rock a "wash n go" which it needs to be called something else because with natural hair its wash, detangle, moisturize, then go 🤣🤣. No curl pattern is better than another so what ever your hair type is love it and find an easy system that works for YOU don't try to mimic your favorite youtubers routine, collect different methods from similar hair types and customize it for your hairs needs.. We tend to make natural hair more complicated than it really needs to be I show my hair love once a week and even push it to every other week then I just let it grow I prefer wash n gos I forget how long my hair is sometimes because I embrace my natural shrinkage.
Yesssss! Loved this! I have the 4a and my best friend has your type. I'll definitely share this video with her. I feel like you guys were educating and enjoyable.Love love love your channel 💜

3B curls where you at.
