I do have to say this, when i first heard your channel, and I am not kidding, I thought you were my Uncle herman, becasue your voice is identical to his. And yes, he still sounds really young despite him now being about to turn 73 in July. Every time he is on the phone, people don't believe him when he says his age. What's even more crazy is he is also a huge fan of DK64 and a lot of rare games. Now I'll have to tell my uncle that we found his internet counterpart. You two may be form different generations, but you two are just so alike, from your voices being pretty much identical, to you both being huge DK64 and gaming fans. While his fellow people born in 1951 are doing their kind of stuff, Uncle Herman is with us young people playing video games, kicking ass at Mario Party 4, owning at Banjo Kazooie, and playing DK64, Diddy Kong Racing, Luigi's Mansion, and Super Mario Galaxy. Hopefully when you are Uncle Herman's age, you'll still be gaming as well. So when I say you and UNcle Herman are a lot alike, enough so that when I heard your voice for the first time that I actually thought you were him, I mean it. Keep being amazing.
Forgive me for saying but I bet Your Uncle Herman is sexy as well huh? We definitely have a lot in common! Haha thanks for watching 😎 I appreciate the comment a lot
You are right about Diddy being faster. Each Kong has a different speed and power stat. From fastest to slowest: Diddy, Tiny, Lanky, DK, & Chunky. From weakest to strongest: Tiny, Diddy, Lanky, DK, & Chunky. Now, Power doesn't mean too much, as most of the time the enemies go with a single hit or you use an instrament, but it can be useful for the arenas.
I don't think I officially new they had different stats, but I guess I did feel it. And a few foes that Tiny and Diddy had to jump twice on VS Chunky and DK who one shot them.
Bro you like that? I’ve stuck with it because it turned out way better then I thought XD the inspiration was a combination of the jinjos and Diddy Kong Racings kid laughing lol I layered it up
I’ve been at this for over a year and just made partner. This is the video that started it all ❤️ I love me some DK64! Thanks so much for watching and your kind words!!!
One thing the boss gave me hard time is the boss like the jack in the box or the Castle boss haveing to pay attention to the lights to avoid the boss or missing them
So I never redeemed the blueprints at each level. Snide is available on K. Rool’s ship and you only have to go through the animation once per Kong. Collect all the blueprints and submit them all at once.
The hardest thing in this game for me was getting the Rare Coin and the Nintendo Coin playing the original Donkey Kong and that jet pack game. That was so freakin hard for me!!
The Nintendo coin was hard for me because I didn’t know you needed to play the dk arcade game to get it. I kept playing the jetpac game over and over and over. Very frustrating.
You play the DK arcade game TWICE. TWICE. what a nightmare. I got this game when I was 5 and didn’t finish it until I was almost 18 for the same reason haha
Jungle Japes was the only level where I collected everything including all 500 colored bananas. You also didn't mention the golden bananas you collect throughout the exterior islands.
I don't care what anyone says it's still one of my favorite games of all time and I love that's there's so much to do and collect. I hated when I first played Tooie and they had the notes bunched up it felt like the worlds were too empty.
I love that too! It’s funny I didn’t mind the notes bunched up in Tooie but I think I was like why even have them at that point? I agree if they had it it would make collecting even better :)
@@calmghosts I did the same but I did finish them eventually, I remember just being blown away by all the different worlds and size of it. Dang that was gaming.

Feantic factory was my most beloved level, i was like 6 though so getting to the floating island on dk island was literally a myth in my mind. Finally olayed more of the game myself and man it is very atmospheric
I cant remember who posted the video of it but Galleons mechanical fish becomes borderline impossible if you don't do it BEFORE getting the zoom scope. Once you get the zoom function it affects how the minigame works by reducing the time you get to shoot the valves. If i remember right its some sort of frame rate issue that causes it to occur
@jiggylookback ive never tried to speedrun it personally but i do still have my original Jungle Japes see-through green nintendo 64 and cartridge for the game with matching controller lol only game ive even started to learn to speedrun is Symphony of the Night. @@MrDark086 thanks I appreciate you watching! That’s dope about the jungle green 64 I’ve always wanted it. I have a gold one and had the basic black N64. All the color varieties are amazing!
When I watched the Let's Play (by Maple McKenzie, then DazzlingAddar), it took me a while to read the graphic on the training barrels as Cranky's head. All I noticed was the beard and thought it was a white eighth note. I don't think I ever saw someone shoot through the Tag Barrel. I probably would have assumed a shot wouldn't go through. I see you did in Jungle Japes what Maple didn't think of until Angry Aztec, which is avoid feeding Scoff DK's bananas. She (then referred to as "he", albeit... RAREly) tried to feed him according to which bananas she interpreted as the least delicious to least undelicious. Well, he doesn't burst even when fed with 400 bananas at once on top of the 1280 he's already been fed over the course of the rest of the game, but maybe if you gave him just one wafer-thin banana chip more... Yeah, I don't know what's dumber, that DK has to learn how to pull a lever, or that he's the only one who can. On that note, one probably shouldn't take what one sees on the barrel monitor TOO literally. It's slight the first time, which shows DK slamming the ground to knock down a Golden Banana that he... is to lazy to put sufficient effort into jumping for? Yet the Golden Banana that represents is just hanging out at practically ground level after being trapped in a rock. And here, Lanky's OrangStand lets him run around the wall of the barrel he's displayed in, and who knows what power is letting him stick to the wall. Looney Tunes power, I guess. And if you really want to see the bonus ending cutscenes, you can watch them on RUclips under, at minimum, the aforementioned LP. If you want to watch it on your own TV knowing that you earned it, however...
@@Nyperold018 i got the bonus ending when I was a kid. I didn’t intend to 100% this playthrough but when this gets on NSO (I hope) I will playthrough it to 100% again. I love this game!!
I freakin LOVED this game when it came out (I still do). Always played the multi-player and no one could beat me. I always 100% this game. During y2k new years eve 1999 I remember I was playing this game with a bunch of other kids and I was SMASHING them. No one could beat me! I always picked Lanky Kong.
Man. With my Discord server we do community game nights and I stream them here on RUclips. If this game comes to NSO I formally challenge you to a match.
My only issue with this game is having to backtrack to switch kongs. I know there is a hack that lets you switch on the fly but I am too lazy to figure that shit out. I don't wanna patch roms I just wanna switch kongs
also dk arcade game was a critical fucking design flaw. i never actually beat it. i only beat the game when i eventually learned how to glitch past the door in hideout helm, lol. getting the rareware coin was 90x easier than even beating the dk arcade game once, let alone TWICE.
On this point I whole heartedly agree. It was the only time in the game I was super frustrated. That being said I am now amazing at the arcade game lol
I remember seeing this being teased on Twitter. And now, here we are! I don't understand the hate of Donkey-Kong 64. Some is justified, but a MAJORITY of influencers have jumped onto some kind of "bandwagon" that was started by Snoman Gaming. If you want to know a game that killed the 3D Platformer genre, that dishonor would have to go to Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust. It is everything that COULD have gone wrong with Super Mario Sunshine. Not only did it ACTUALLY kill the 3D Platformer genre that was popularized from the legacy of Super Mario 64 in terms of relevance, but it also destroyed the genre's relevance. Yes, Box Office Bust is the WORST 3D Platformer ever made. Even worse than Bubsy 3D!
This actually isn’t the video I teased on Twitter. (If it was recent) this is my full in depth review and analysis of the game. I actually still have a big DK64 in the works. More about history, development and defending it
God damn, this is a Grade-A video. DK64 is my favorite game and it’s been that way since forever. Despite me playing this numerous times, this last month was the first time I got that sweet 101%. Even though I love this game, it’s definitely nowhere near perfect. In fact, there’s a ton of things I HATE in this game. Gloomy Galleon comes to mind (easily the worst world in the game). Beaver Bother must’ve been designed by satan himself. But the worst thing is the Nintendo coin and how it’s mandatory to beat the game. Having to get that damn coin every time is a total mood killer and to me the biggest miss in this game. Either way, the good outweighs the bad for me. Really enjoyed this video. Peace!
Thanks so much for watching, I think we agree on your negative points exactly because those are my top 3 things I dislike. I hope you’ll subscribe and check out my other videos! I’ve got some other sweet Dk content 😎
I loved this game so so much in my childhood. I totally agree with your frustrations tho with the mini game barrels and the donkey Kong arcade game. It was too hard for me as a kid so i couldn’t get past it for the longest time. I will say my favorite mini game barrel tho was the one where you sneak through a maze and avoid being detected. That one was fun haha
No shit man! That DK ARCADE was definitely my NIGHTMARE that prevented me from completing the damn game too!! That was even harder than beaver bother for me!! I beat beaver bother in like 4-6 tries but that fking DK ARCADE?!?! At least 50 tries!!! Lvl 3 was the WORST!!!
the fact that i collected those blueprints for nothing when i last beat it pisses me off. i worked so hard thinking i was going to get a great reward and well, only mini games unlocked ugh i know i should have looked up what i wanted to get but i wanted to be surprised and it dint pay off.
I encourage people to keep shitting on DK64, copies of the game in good condition on eBay are cheaper than they were 10 years ago because RUclipsrs have convinced people who’ve never even played the game that it’s bad I’m tryna get that shit cheap u feel me
I got one last year on eBay for $20...I saw a Japanese cartridge in a peddlers mall but passed as I expected the language barrier to be a problem, and went on eBay and bought a cartridge of it.
The one benefit to catching the fairies is each one you catch adds more Crystal Cocanuts to your inventory making it so you can collect more and your power ups can last longer
Oh, that room you couldn’t figure out in creepy castle, psure you z+b punch the big brass buttons on the wall and they each open a skull to reveal enemies to kill. Then you get the banana once you kill them all.
@@ajflink lol it was in my original videos. It was pretty iconic. I no longer have fart music and haven’t for a while 🤣 though comments like these make me laugh
No, the collectables aren't the issue. It's what you have to do to get a few of them that is the problem. Any beaver bother, Lanky's race vs the beetle, no counter for the coins so i never know if I found them all...
For what its worth the banana coins don't count towards your completion percentage. Plus there's way more of them in the game than you'll ever need to get all the moves and upgrades.
The people who bitch and complain about this game want to pretend like all the Call of Duty games after MW1 are all "masterpieces". It's quite sad, honestly! People like to bitch and complain about games like this and Super Mario Sunshine, but not these crappy M-rated shooters. Like they haven't poorly aged like milk and they still fucking hold up.
I hate 90% of these generic ass M-rated games. They'll all garbage except for Fallout, GTA, and Perfect Dark and I honestly don't understand why these M-rated games are safe from getting hated on while good games like Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo-Tooie get shit on, on a constant basis! People just have godawful tastes, nowadays! It's true! Perfect Dark and Half Life are the only good shooters ever made, the rest are just straight up cookie cutter garbage! A lot of these M-rated games are just unappealing as hell. Not all M-rated games are bad nor do I buy that shit that it promotes mass shootings. They are just run of the mill games filled with blood, violence, and swearing, that's it! If there was more than just blood and violence, then maybe these M-rated games would be fun. Like there are generally some M-rated games that don't just glorify the blood and violence, they actually tell a story and do have appealing characters. Like I said, there are good M-rated games out there that aren't just about shooting shit and blood. They actually tell a decent story with decent gameplay. I'm just saying 90% of M-rated games are bad because all they do is just focus on the blood and violence, and have characters say the F-word, like it's some malfia flick.
Switching characters at any time by a button press was not a console limitation. Goemon 64 let's you swap between its four playable characters with a single button at any time. It was a design decision to not let you switch between characters at any time.
@@zackthecharizard9139 oh yes got you. Yes the Crystal Coconuts were energy sources for your magic abilities in DK64 but there are multiple it’s not just one like in the show
This and DKC were some of my absolute favorite games as a kid. I beat all of them.....except this.....because I couldn't get the stupid Nintendo coin from beating the original Donkey Kong. I got to the last room of the freaking game, right before the final boss, but I never even got to fight him just because I couldn't beat that stupid arcade game. Something literally required to finish the game should not have been walled off behind an archaic arcade challenge, which should have just been completely optional. Make it part of the 101% or whatever, sure. But not just to fight the final boss. Definitely one of the worst design choices in the history of game development, it's cathartic to hear someone empathize with me about it.
Getting the actual Nintendo coin was my issue. FIGURING OUT that I needed to beat the DK arcade was the issue. How would I have known that lmao I didn’t beat this game officially until I was like 12 or 13 cause I never knew and couldn’t get the last boss fight.
@@jiggylookback No I know, that's like a whole other level of messed up though. I think the only reason I knew was because I read it in a guide or online or something.
I get a lot of hate from my friend group when I say that DK64 is my favorite game. I love the characters and anything composed by Grant Kirkhope is pure art. Will also add that now in my early 30s, i still have ptsd from the "Get Out" levels. Mad Jack is my favorite boss easily. The boss music for Amydillo in Crystal Caves also just hits different. Also getting to use all of the Kongs in the big finale was so amazing as a kid. This game is great.
I love Donkey Kong 64 it's more fun and better than Mario 64. I like Tiny she's my favorite character I like playing as her best and Mad Jack is my favorite boss fight.
@@jiggylookback For sure, pluss it would have meant that Mildred Sturgeon could have voiced two bosses in the game instead of just one. She voiced the big club enemies (Kosha), and she did some of the voice clips for the Army Dillo boss. Wish she would come back to voice acting, at least she's happy doing radio. IDK where she does it though.
If you think about it, this game is probably one of the few nintendo games actually worth 60$ due to it's leght, and even if it wasn't it would be the equivalent of 3 Nintendo games for the price of one, people sure are ungrateful. Another thing I wanted to also note is how great the multiplayer is, would dare to say it's better than Banjo Tooie's.

Here i am walking around work saying "Jiggy Lookback" 😂😂

One thing the boss gave me hard time is the boss like the jack in the box or the Castle boss haveing to pay attention to the lights to avoid the boss or missing them
Yeah it’s a subtle detail you need to pick up on to beat him. I love that boss tho!
So I never redeemed the blueprints at each level. Snide is available on K. Rool’s ship and you only have to go through the animation once per Kong. Collect all the blueprints and submit them all at once.

Hey man! Thanks for watching 😎
Pretty much the same for me except I didn’t officially beat it till I was maybe 13. More because I didn’t know that’s how you got the Nintendo coin :/

I remember loving this game despite it being too hard for me as a kid, I spent like 99% of the time just exploring.

Few people mentioned the multiplayer. It was something like golden eyed I remember I played that multiplayer along side perfect dark
I like those too because you had potential to be really fast or cautious.
As a kid the get out voice on the desert level scared me so bad I just skipped those bananas
Haha I mean you can! I understand completely
Hahaha 😎🍌 but we did it? I did. Took a while
the fact that i collected those blueprints for nothing when i last beat it pisses me off. i worked so hard thinking i was going to get a great reward and well, only mini games unlocked ugh i know i should have looked up what i wanted to get but i wanted to be surprised and it dint pay off.
I feel this. But hey at least it makes you get all the bananas.
I encourage people to keep shitting on DK64, copies of the game in good condition on eBay are cheaper than they were 10 years ago because RUclipsrs have convinced people who’ve never even played the game that it’s bad I’m tryna get that shit cheap u feel me
You know what? Thats a good strategy lol
I got one last year on eBay for $20...I saw a Japanese cartridge in a peddlers mall but passed as I expected the language barrier to be a problem, and went on eBay and bought a cartridge of it.

@@ajflink lol it was in my original videos. It was pretty iconic.

No, the collectables aren't the issue. It's what you have to do to get a few of them that is the problem. Any beaver bother, Lanky's race vs the beetle, no counter for the coins so i never know if I found them all...
That’s fair. Those mini games could have disappeared almost entirely and I wouldn’t have missed them. I think generally I like every other aspect.

Yeah it’s a strange double standard.
Oh no it isn’t a console limitation because mods can do that for this game on native hardware and it works well
