The story of what happens to Zuko's mother is in a Graphic Novel. I can't wait until you read that one! You should post a review. I would love to see your take on it.
That whole situation with Zuko's mom is so fucked up because it shows how oblivious the whole family was. Azulon got pissed off because Ozai dared to suggest he deserved to be named heir after Iroh's failure at Ba-Sing-Se and Azulon thought Ozai was being an asshole for daring to talk shit about Iroh after Lu-Ten had died and decided to punish Ozai by demanding he kill Zuko as punishment not even realizing that Ozai didn't give half a fuck about Zuko in the first place, and then ended up getting poisoned by Zuko's mom in a plot to get Ozai on the throne in exchange of sparing Zuko's life and getting banished herself. The whole mess hinges on Azulon's mistaken assumption that Ozai loves his son and it backfired like a motherfucker.
Not only that, the comics revealed that Ozai and Azulon effectively *kidnapped* Ursa. They wanted to produce heirs from a powerful firebending bloodline, and what's a more powerful bloodline than that of the previous Avatar's? The fact that she was easy on the eyes was a nice bonus. They hunted her down at the small village she lived in and threatened to kill her lover if she didn't comply.
@@jancril7505 Dude, your ability to say no being revoked essentially makes that kidnapping, "come with us, the all-powerful dictators of your country, or your loved ones will die" is what would be called an ultimatum, not "pressure"

Ozai only had a sliver of the sun but immediately with no preparation bent lightning with two hands. Powerful, quick lightning that was almost like whips. Like damn! Ozai is extremely powerful.
It’s interesting that after watching the Ozai and Zuko confrontation in this episode and thinking back to the Zuko Alone episode, you realize that Azula actually told Zuko the truth when they were children. Their dad really planned on killing Zuko back then and it’s only because their mom overheard and stepped in that Zuko was spared. Zuko redirecting Ozai's lightning is such an epic moment. Then the fire nation tapestry falls behind Ozai symbolizing his era is coming to an end. Can't wait for a couple...a few...dammit every episode from now to the series finale is great.
There's something that always resonated with me from Zuko's famous speech that points to exactly why his redemption arc works *so damn well:* "The people of the world are terrified by the Fire Nation. They don't see our greatness. They hate us! _And we deserve it!_ " It's that last part. The idea that their hatred is deserved that makes his turn so damn compelling. He *understands* that he has played a part in harming others and perpetuating the tyranny of The Fire Nation, so he doesn't lash out at those who hold his past actions against him. _He_ feels he deserves it. And he puts in the actual time and effort to atone for his past sins.
Yes! Zuko‘s turn is both personal AND political. He realizes and calls out both the wrongs Ozai has done to him personally, and the wrongs the Fire Nation has done to the world, and his own part in that. I think what makes a lot of redemption arcs less compelling is only having the personal side of it.
Hell yeah, also the moment that comes to mind is back when Zuko alone, he faults his identity and he seems to expect praise and respect, but he is met with the truth, the people don't see his greatness, they hate him, and even back then, a part of him knew he deserved it, thus why he didnt argue back.

In the first episode of season 3, zuko is walking towards his father, and the camera points at the scarred side of his face. Now zuko is walking AWAY from his father, and the camera points at his OTHER side of his face that's not scarred.
I love this episode. Zuko confronting his father, learning his mother is still alive, and choosing his own path. Also, giving us a peek into Fire Lord Ozai's psyche, the way he talks about everything with Zuko and then without hesitation, trying to kill his son the instant his power returns. As well as, showcasing once again, how dangerous Azula is because of her intelligence.

one point is that they always say aang needs to defeat the fire lord, but they also need to defeat azula, because she would be even worst leader than Ozai. And in that blacked sun plan, they kept saying about fighting the fire lord but didn't mention azula and her friends
She's also terrified of failing to meet her father's ever-escalating demands, which is a large part of why she lied to him and brought Zuko back into the fold. After all, it's easier to look like a success when you have a failure to compare yourself against.

one point is that they always say aang needs to defeat the fire lord, but they also need to defeat azula, because she would be even worst leader than Ozai. And in that blacked sun plan, they kept saying about fighting the fire lord but didn't mention azula and her friends
I'd say Azula has Dad baggage, it's just different. I think Azula also wants to please Dad, she just succeeds, Zuko doesn't.
She's also terrified of failing to meet her father's ever-escalating demands, which is a large part of why she lied to him and brought Zuko back into the fold. After all, it's easier to look like a success when you have a failure to compare yourself against.
* She thought she succeded.
9:40, oh, shit she can earth bend!?!😱
WHATS IN THE BOX lmfaooo i died
Kyoshi is the Avatar before Roku. The next Avatar after Korra will be Earth Nation.
Ursa shows up in the Comics called the search. Ursa is doing well with a new family.
Love you guys, commenting mostly for Algorithmen support.
Thank you so much!! Have a great fuckin weekend!
@@SeanTanktop thank you. You guys too!
That censored shirt of Dustin. xD Because of that musician with the white contact lense right? Wasn't he waring the same shirt last episode?
Get ready, bc you are about to ride a roller-coaster of emotions until the end of the season!

Them: "What if there were 2 avatars??"
Us: *laughs nervously in Korra*
11:15 The best part about this is that the Dai Li are actually elite, and Toph still schools them all on her own.
Iroh is his own woman, he don't need no man to get him out of jail ❤️
?
Azula was playing with the gang
before legend of korra you can freely check out a atla comics(lost adventures, promise, search, rift, smoke and shadow, north and south, imbalance) just stay away from LoK comics(turf wars, ruins of the empire). Comics are great and done well.
So, in talks about the Kyoshi books, The Rise of Kyoshi and it's sequel The Shadow of Kyoshi isn't actually centered around the Kyoshi warriors. They follow Avatar Kyoshi herself.
They're amazing books and I highly recommend both of them!
As for the rest of the Avatar comics, I'd wait to buy them until after you finish the series because they all take place after the series ends.
Two avatars existing at the same time and an expert metalbender who uses small pieces of metal to handcuff people
Those are some pretty crazy ideas...huh?
Yeah...very interesting... its not like we can watch it after some person dies and another person comes to life right?
I cant help but notice that Ozai's laugh really reminded me of Iroh
What is on Dustin's shirt that they had to blur out? And is that a Running Up That Hill reference before Stranger Things season 4?
You know Azula came away from her fight with Suki with a few cuts and bruises, not like she'd ever admit it.
As much as i like Suki, even Ty Lee would have soloed that fight.
11:43 The moment that created many Sokkla shippers
Let's not forget: If Toph wasn't there, Sokka would have gotten stabbed
I really want to know what's on Dustin's shirt.
anyone else curious what was blurred out on his shirt? lol
Shadow of Kyoshi is the story of Avatar Kyoshi not the kyoshi warriors. It occurs around 310 years (give or take) before Aang was born.
Read it and its sequel! They’re so good!
If I become a patron will I find out why Dustin's shirt is blurred out🤔
"Better Sexy than Dead" needs to go on a t-shirt
I agree. Someone make this happen please I will buy them all
After u finish avatar u u can read all the comics with the gaang and the novels
What song is at 15:23?
Kashmire by Led Zeppelin
The question here is, was Zuzu's mom sent to capture the Avatar when she was banished? It would've been before Katara destroyed the iceberg that he was in so he wouldn't have even been visible.
You guys are the first people I've ever seen think that azula learned how to earthbend.
Nah, there were even literally quite a few memes of Avatar Azula wrecking Avatar Aang XD.
