  • This week's tire review is the BF Goodrich Trail-Terrain TA.
    The BF Goodrich Trail-Terrain TA replaced the BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain, and is positioned between the Advantage TA Sport and the KO2. It bridges the gap between on road and off-road, and is also built to compete against the Cooper Discover AT3 4S & Falken Wildpeak AT.
    I'm not sure I agree with, that but let me know what you think in the comments below.

    I just bought a 2023 Kia X-Pro, it’s their off road trim of the Kia Sportage, and these are the equipped tires on my vehicle. All of the video reviews of the car were positive on the vehicle’s handling on road and especially off road. Your review also validates a positive feedback. I’ll review more. Thanks for your input. 👍🏾

    We put these on my wife's Ram 1500 to replace the OE tires that were horrible. These BFGs are a huge improvement in wet conditions. I don't understand the poor wet conditions rating they received from Tire Rack's review. We have a very positive experience with these. Off-road they're not bad either and area excellent in dry pavement conditions. They track well and grab well. I give them a 9/10 so far.

  • @LloydSim

    Can definitely echo on how soft the inner tread block is. It's definitely got good traction on wet roads and snowy condition, but reliability wise though some are chipped off already from just your typical freeway potholes and occasional sharp rocks. I've had these installed for a year now for my 4th gen 4runner (4WD). Got about 12K+ miles on them so far. Took it for a round trip 2500+ miles road trip over the spring and I've driven them in South lake Tahoe during the spring snow storm they had back in April 22, 2022. Overall these tires are very nice and held up to their claims. Noise wise, they're actually pretty quiet but once you're going about 85mph like say in Idaho freeways, it's got some noise, but it's not that bad. The wear so far is your average all-season type of tire for 12k+ miler, I'm guesstimating they'll only last me for another 40K miles or so

    Bought mine in January soon after they hit the market. Mine have only 4400 miles on them. I started noticing at steering wheel shake this past week. I was due a oil change and tire rotation so I took my Toyota Tacoma in to have the work done. They called me back with bad news saying I had belt separation starting on the front tires . That explains my steering wheel shaking. Take in mind only 4,400 miles with no off road driving at all. I called the BF Goodrich hotline and they are going to warranty the tires. Call me crazy but I really like these tires!! The ride is amazing and they are also very quiet. I am giving the BF Goodrich a pass because I was so early getting them in the manufacturing process maybe this was just a (get the bugs out of things). Having my new set put on today. Will keep everyone posted.

      @pagodad8079 Come to find out my local tire dealer was lying about the belt separation just to sell me another set. They were supposed to send them back to factory to be inspected but never did. I have a feeling they sold them as used tires with only 4,400 miles on them. Michelin sent me a check for the full amount of the new tires and instalation cost because of my trouble with the Tire shop. The original tires with 4,400 miles were perfectly fine in hind site. The Michelin rep was very helpful and compassionate. They have never had a belt separation on this particular tire!! The local tire dealer is a scam artist. Michelin has my business for the rest of my life!!

    Firstly I would just like to thank you Matt and Campus Automotive for taking the time to produce these very informative videos. I have learned so much about tyres since watching your show. I live in Australia 🇦🇺 and have subscribed to your channel as I find it extremely informative. One comparison I am really struggling to find is between the Toyo AT3 v Falken Wildpeak 3 v BFG KO2 V Goodyear Duratrac. I have a Toyota Landcruiser and due to have the tyres replaced in about 5,000 km. I would be very grateful for any advice you have, noting about 70% of my travel is on road, 30% off road, therefore think one of the before mentioned A/T terrain tyres would be a good choice. I currently run Maxxis AT 700s and they have been ok, but I’m just looking to try something different. Thanks again for your time and best wishes from Australia mate. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

    Would those closed shoulders cause this tire to hydroplane more since it can't "push" the water out from under the tread? Or do the sipes make up for that somehow? I don't know, but that is the reason that I've never ran closed shoulders before, I've always been afraid to. Maybe I'm way off??? I like this tire for my truck, but that is the only thing keeping me from getting them. Keep up the great videos, I really enjoy them!

    I have been following these tires for a while and thought they were focused on the unibody crossover market similar to the falken at trail. This great video makes me think otherwise. I am sceptical of inner tread wear and for my vehicle (2018 Crosstrek) this tire is significantly heavier than every other hybrid and at tire available except for the ko2 😬. So I am gonna pass and go for Conti cross contact atr... Unless you make a video to prove me otherwise 😎. I really like the deep sipping for wet weather traction. I also had the Cooper AT4’s on my Pathfinder and although they had good traction in the wet and snowy weather, they didn’t last all but 15,000 miles. The outer edges were so cupped up and made so much noise I got rid of them a few months ago and replaced them with the Michelin Defender M&S.

    Been contemplating replacement tires for my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. Torn between the Cooper AT3 4s and the BF Goodrich Trail Terrain T/A. The majority of my driving will be highway & local roads, with some occasional mild trails/gravel roads. I also occasionally tow a boat. Live in New England, so valuing snow performance as well. I was pretty much set on the Coopers, but the local shop that is going to install them said that a few customers with the AT3 4s have complained of noise and vibration after a short time. He said I might be better off with the BF Goodrich Trail Terrain T/A instead, saying he's generally gotten positive feedback on them from customers. Most online reviews though give pretty high marks to the Cooper AT3 4s for snowy and wet conditions, and a good score for road noise. So not sure what to believe now. Any thoughts or opinions on which of the two tires would work best for my situation would be much appreciated - Thx!

    Hey, I have a question. I have a 2019 chevrolet express van that spends most of the time on road. It has to carry 3k to 4k pounds of goods inside every 2 to 3 weeks on a 200 mile highway, it tows a 6k to 10k pound trailer about once a month (i think we are now in LT territory), and it gets used as ab adventure vehicle on the weekends (camping, fishing, kayack, exploring, getting to MTB trails through some 2 track trails).
    Would you recommend the trail terrains? Or which tyre? This also applies to other 2 mid size pickup trucks (except that we haul about 2k pounds in those instead of 3k to 4K and we tow 4k to 6k pound trailers with them).
    Thanks for the advice

    • @CampusautoCo
      @CampusautoCo  2 года назад +1

      Actually, I recommend the General Grabber HTS 60 or maybe the General Grabber HD for your application in a LT rated size. I don’t know if the trail terrain will meet your needs in such a severe duty cycle.

    • @69sound81
      @69sound81 2 года назад

      @@CampusautoCo I actually was looking at the KO2's in their E load rating (same rating as the factory tires) because of their capability offroad (for my weekends). Then I saw the trail terrains and I really hoped they had the same E load rating available (but I think they only go up to 112 which is passenger tire territory).
      The lifespan is not an issue, actually I preffer a short lifespan and a soft rubber that grips better in the rain, mud, gravel and in case of emergency braking.

Hard to pick against that but also hard to pick against BF Goodrich 60,000 warranty. The A/T’s have a 55,000 warranty so it’s close. Tough decision.

Plus, a person reads positive stories about a particular tire, and then there is always stories like yours that shows up. I want a tire for all 4 seasons here in Canada so i want something rated good on ice or in snow for my 1/2 ton. In my world you go from one extreme to another---can be 90's plus in the summer and then Minus 40 in the winter. Not particularly concerned about off-roading either.

    I like BFGs but this tire is a miss for me. The KO2s have long been favorites of mine but this just seems too close to a highway tire. I think something more aggressive, closer to a KO2 but in P metric rating would be a better hit. The weight and cost penalty going to an LT are what put most smaller suvs off the KO2. Make a slightly less aggressive P metric version of the k02, I think it would sell better
