@ Usually the sides are soul food (candied yams, baked mac & cheese, greens/cabbage, cornbread, etc.). Cookout is just the meat on the grill (ribs, chicken, etc.), but you can't make sides on the grill 🤷🏾♀️ it's all just down home cooking! Sometimes the most simple thing seems complicated lol

I’m from (the south) Alabama, one of several southern states where soul-food is the main food in our culture, and I approve of everything except that spaghetti mac & cheese?? 😂 Bruh!! To each its own, but one thing about soul-food, we don’t take away the main ingredients of the recipe; macaroni/elbow noodles are a classic!! If cheese is involved with spaghetti as a soul food dish, then it would be the spaghetti dish 🍝 itself with cheese baked on top, or what we call chicken spaghetti, such as chicken tetrazzini, which includes cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, shredded chicken, (veggies optional) onions, pimento, or bell peppers, and cheese baked on top. You have everything on point but using any other noodles other than the mac/elbow noodles itself hurt my SOUL!!!😂 It looks good though! You did a great job as always and thanks for representing our culture!😘

When someone cooks a lot to point when they are an expert, measurements become intuitive to them and they no longer need measuring cups nor measuring spoons. It’s just a point of how much someone has cooked.

Condiments: Mayo, mustard, miracle whip, pickles, ranch, ketchup, hot sauce,
Hawaiian Sweet Buns "hot dog/hamburger"
Drinks: Hugs juices, Capri Suns, water (for people who drink alcoholic beverages: those were available too)
Desserts: banana pudding, cupcakes, cake "worded with whatever the celebration is"
Music, cards, games, balloons, and the only time kids could go in and out of the house and run around without getting yelled at
