He is truly a magician but Sinner’s improvement from pure baseliner to more of an all round player (probably influenced by Alcaraz’s style and natural talent) is really impressive. Sinner has become much better at dropshots and volleys over the last two years than he used to be. It will be another fascinating match for sure. I would give a slight edge to Alcaraz this time because it’s clay and because he is stronger physically.

It’s the new top 2. There’s no third guy coming up that can match these two in my opinion. That’s why the big 3 is so important. To have 2 guys up there it is already a remarkable and great thing for tennis. To have a third one coming at the same time that was so special really.

Also when they faced each other it was a total guess to know who was gonna win. Now you put Sinner or Alcaraz against other top guys and we all know most of the time who wins.

Several close matches but mostly Fed getting dominated by Djokovic post 2012.

Alcaraz’s composure and confidence in this match was unbelievable for 21 year old. He just played what he needed to play and stayed calm in all the crucial moments while Tsitsipas couldn’t overcome his frustration of not being able to find the answers. It’s a really bad matchup for him. Friday is going to be a very different match but hopefully Carlos will be playing with the same mature mindset.
I get the impression he's had to try to keep his forehand loose because of the injury, and as a result had the experience of winning matches while playing within himself. So he's getting better at picking his moments, saving energy, and staying relaxed. But Sinner will suffocate him, so that'll be interesting.

I've been saying that since the start. It's disturbing the opponent and it annoys me too. It's loud and late. Too late to start giving him warnings now. The Spanish are teaching this in their tennis schools. It's part of their game.
I see nothing wrong with his grunting... it's to do with his breathing while hitting the shot... the sound is coming after he hits the ball as he exhales and it's regular.... grunts pretty much every shot. It would be more questionable if he did it at certain moments or if it was timed in a particular way..... it's definitely not gamesmanship-related. You don't have to like the grunt, or the style of it but to argue it's to put off his opponent is stupid.

People forget that Carlos is only just 21. Last year they were suggesting he'd peaked - and sure, going down to #3 in the rankings showed a hiccup. But a) he already has 2 GS's and 5 ATP1000's and b) he's got the most complete game, insane talent and most amazing dynamism since Roger (and may well equal or surpass Roger in time). Jannik might now be #1 but Carlos has got his mojo back and is going to be breathing down his neck very soon (already is imo). Two great young players and seriously nice young men. Shame about the grunting - without that, we'd have the prospect of many no-grunting GS finals ahead of us!

He can win slams, however he would require to develop his game. He had digressed after 2021 and recently he has regained most of that digression but has not developed his game after 2021. After he regains his game he can develop his game. However it will also be required to pay the price.

Last point in the third set - a superbly placed drop shot from Alcaraz. That is where the difference lies. Just outstanding control from Alcaraz. And the reason he is the only one worth watching for me.
What sensational clay court highlights! These guys played amazing! If I think back to watching Borg vs Lendl* stroking it around on clay for hours on end - to be fair, different era, dreadful racquets and strings - to think clay court play has reached heights like this is amazing. [*Edit: not to be unfair to great players, Borg and Lendl - modern players have big teams of physio/multiple coaches/tactician/nutritionist/etc. It was a very different game in those days]
Tsitsipas had the absolute right to complain about Alcaraz's prolonged grunts. To everyone who kept saying grunting doesn't distract or annoy your opponent - well, it does. I sincerely hope they ban grunting in professional tennis (both for men and women) and impose a fine for doing it. Same way they apply unsportsmanlike conduct for all bunch of stupid things.

Today Tsitsipas did not play like in his other matches. He has a purely psychological issue against Alcaraz. When Zverev has defeated Alcaraz several times and Tsitsipas has defeated Zverev several times, then this 6-0 defeat shows defeatism. He needs to change his coach urgently or to add someone (e.g. Ivanicevic, someone ex no. 1)

The main reason he will not be competitive at the absolute top, which is a shame. Solid forehand, good serve and good at the net. It’s his backhand that lets him down so often. Not just unforced errors, but low-quality backhands in the halfcourt making it so easy for opponents to attack him and move him from left to right creating an open court.
I could see that Tsitsipas would lose as soon as he entered the court. The word "defeat" was written all over his face, just like when he played against Djokovic. He wasn't focused, and his game was nowhere near his past performances on clay this season. At some point he was shouting "Out of all the past two weeks, today you chose to make mistakes.' Or something along these lines. He needs to work on his mentality more than his backhand.

The Djoker is well known for starting to grunt like a monkey in important situations. Has he ever been warned for it? He takes half an eternity with his preparation on the 1st serve and between the 1st and 2nd serve and the umpire lets him get away with it. How about that? Tsitsipas is one of the biggest disappointment in tennis history , i can’t belive that the player who enters the quater-final can’t take one set at least… His biggest problem is in the head he lost the match before entering the court , what a shame..

Tsitsipas has a real issue with his backhand. Allows the other player to hit there, get a short ball, and always dominate
The main reason he will not be competitive at the absolute top, which is a shame. Solid forehand, good serve and good at the net. It’s his backhand that lets him down so often. Not just unforced errors, but low-quality backhands in the halfcourt making it so easy for opponents to attack him and move him from left to right creating an open court.

I could see that Tsitsipas would lose as soon as he entered the court. The word "defeat" was written all over his face, just like when he played against Djokovic. He wasn't focused, and his game was nowhere near his past performances on clay this season. At some point he was shouting "Out of all the past two weeks, today you chose to make mistakes.' Or something along these lines. He needs to work on his mentality more than his backhand.
