My oldest child (a daughter, 56) lives alone in Arizona. She recently expressed some concern for her safety and asked about gun options. I immediately sent her my 19 and a check to cover instruction/range time. Deprived of my bedside gun, I began to consider MY options. Being retired and on a fixed income, I didn't really want to spend $600 at this point in my life (I'll be 80 next BD) so was thinking hard about the G3. I knew Taurus was upping its game because I had bought a TX22 and loved everything about it, but I did NOT want a manual safety (it is optional on the TX). My Missouri shit-kicker solution: Super Glue! A tiny drop along the bottom edge of the safety (while on 'fire', of course) immobilized that sucker for good, AND, it's invisible. I know firearms purists are going to go nuts if they read this, but it works for me and it apparently will work forever: I clean my pistols in an ultra-sonic device filled with gasoline. That bath has NO effect on the Super Glue. So, want a G-3 but don't like manual safeties? Get some Super Glue at the Dollar Tree... I promise I won't tell.
Good review... I wanted to hate my friends G2c when I shot it. Yes the trigger was really long but it works. I was shooting better groups with G2c at 7yards than my G26. I’m sure the G3 will be a great gun on a tight budget.
I have the G3 in Gray frame, 15 & 17 round mags. I have 540 flawless rounds through it. I agree or can relate with everything you said about the gun. I've been very pleased with it so far.
Taurus is like a brand new old company. They have done a 360 turn around cause they use to suck! I own a Taurus 92 and a pt111 g2. I love them both. Best budget gin company hands down.
The G3 is legit. The only thing I would change is the recoil spring and guide rod. There is a full stainless available for $34. You can also convert that 15 rd mag into a 18 rounder. I used the Mec-Gar butt plate from a CZ75 mag. It's a Plus 2 plate but actually held 3 additional rounds rather than 2.
Mike Pavlock why change recoil spring & guide rod ??Have you had the opportunity to do more r&d than the multi billion dollar company Taurus?? As for the mags the g3 comes with one 15rnd and one 17rnd so why not just use the extension $ for another 17 rounder ??? Smh
@@gastondraco5906 Mec Gar are factory mags... They are literally the same body just longer and a longer spring. Canik TP9 mags, Taurus 24/7 Gen I mags as well. I'm sure there's others but that's what I've found so far. Used a mic and caliper, they're identical sizes. Can run a 32 Rd Pro Mag straight from Taurus, but you better double up the spring or trade it for a Wolff xtra power for a Glock 33 rd. Not everything "factory" is better. That's why there's a proliferation of aftermarket parts, and factory production usually follows suite with what the aftermarket innovates.
Taurus says in their G3 video that night sights are coming down the road for the pistol and maybe other sight options. As you said it has a Tennifer or nitro carburizing shell so it won't rust even if the black oxide outer finish doesn't last. So down the road swap out the sights and put a better finish on it if you want.
I just added fiberoptic sights to my G3. I purchased them from lakeline llc. They were easy to install (only an hour or so) $50. They acquire the sight picture much quicker than the original three dot dull white ones. Going to the range Monday to test.
Haven’t got a g3 yet because they’re always out of stock, but I really dig the G2c I bought the wife. Feels much better in my hand than my G26 I’ve been carrying for years
I have noticed the slide finish on my G2s rusts very easily usually about once a week I wipe it down with CLP and let it soak in for about 20 minutes and than I wipe it off that seems to help quite a bit. Also the magazine button rusts very easily to when carried inside the waistband in very hot and humid climates.
Canik TP9 Elite SC looks good too. Reliable and not too bad on price + you get alot in the box with a superb trigger altough its creeping up in price due to its demand.
Great slim profile gun. Love mine and feels so natural in my medium hands. Mine needs break in. Sometimes by just pulling the slide back it gets stuck in the rear position without a mag in it. It does not happen when fired thankfully
Rho Main I normally don't have time to shoot my new purchases right away so I'll take the time to clean and lightly polish all contact surfaces and barrel feed ramp. Makes a big difference!
@@Alop777 I hear that, will clean/lube and polish mine a little more. I still have a few sitting that have not been fired but was able to take out the G3 once.
There is a manual safety because the gun IS FULLY COCKED WHEN RACKED. Yes, it has a trigger blade safety and a drop-safety piston internally, but both are easily defeated by grit or lint over time. For safe carry, since IT IS SINGLE ACTION ONLY when racked, you must use that manual safety and a decent holster to protect it! READ your manual!...………………………….elsullo
Lakeline LLC has night sights, Stainless Steel Guide Rod, Stainless Steel Striker Guide, Firing Pin Spring, Return Spring and a Mounting Plate for Red Dots. I have the G2C and I put in the steel guide rod and the steel striker guide after polishing parts of the trigger as suggested in other RUclips videos and it is running smooth as silk. Well better than gritty trigger pull it had before. I plain on getting the G3 and getting the steel guide rod and striker guide, but no polishing the trigger on the G3 if it is better than the G2C as I have heard. Night sights will be the last thing on the list to get, after I buy it and make the upgrades.
I'm impressed with Taurus, I bought a g2c a month ago and already have 2000 rounds through it , the mag is a bit hard for me to load by hand, so I use a "loader" but I haven't had a single problem with the little pistol, not bad for $206.00

Awesome review! The slide finish is weird. When I first bought mine, it had scratches on the slide they claimed were made by bringing the gun in and out of the sales case against other pistols. I oiled it a little when I cleaned it and the scratches are gone. Weird
the finish will wear off fast but it gives it a battle worn look. sights change them cause glock sights suck also. I will get 2 for the price of my g19 and give them hell
i often wonder if these reviewers get upset when their hammers and other tools get nicks and scratches? My tools get worn, and a firearm is just that, a tool.
Double strike is good for practice with those laser bullet thingys, but I've found thay once you drop the hammer and it doesnt go bang, 90% chance it wont go off the second time, either. Bad primer. In life or death situation, go to the next round.
Can yall do a review on the Taraus Th40. I brought one and I love it. I would love to see how it stand up when compared to other 40 caliber hand guns for carry.
Here in Brazil Taurus Guns comes inside a case (like glock, sig). Its funny to see they selling in USA in this paper box. Another thing, Brazilian G3 has better aim sights like Glock and ready to set Red Dot, like Glock MOS.
The Taurus Gen. 3 is more than a cheap gun It's the best gun I Use and I have lots it's light And accurate I prefer it more than the Beretta 92 I recommend it
The PSA PS9 is hopefully going to be the real budget Glock 19 as long as they're reliable but they're basically a Gen 3 Glock on the inside. I've only had one Taurus and it was horribly unreliable. Some people have luck with them but I'd rather not try again.
TheKeystoneKid my g2c was the same way.. just sold my g2c and g3 no more Taurus polymer pistols for me. I’ve graduated to a Walter q5 match steel frame.
Kenny J Taurus got me into pistol shooting to begin with. They are an affordable way to enter the sport. They are decent for the money but I wouldn’t rely on one to save my life. They do serve a purpose though. I’m glad they make affordable guns for an entry level firearm for people on a budget.
Kenny J the g3 is great I had a g2c and it wouldn’t go into battery about every 6th round. I would have to tap the slide to be able to shoot it. I polished the feed ramp and finally ended up putting a stainless guide rod and spring in it and it seemed to be working fine but I still didn’t trust it. Maybe I got a lemon. The triggers aren’t all that great either but it’s a budget pistol. My Taurus Pt-92 (beretta style) is fantastic and very accurate and never had any issues. I don’t dislike Taurus at all I just don’t trust the budget guns al that much. I have a Springfield hellcat which costs twice as much but I’m happy to pay for the reliability and trigger over the Taurus.
This is 4 years later. But personally I have a Springfield hellcat with a 13 round mag and 15 round as an extra for my edc. However I recently picked up the Taurus g3. In my state you are limited to 15 rounds, so I can get the same amount of rounds in my hellcat, however I bought the Taurus g3 due to bigger size and larger grip. My g3 is a bit different than the one on the video but I’ve ordered night sights for it and so when I come home, my edc goes into my safe and the g3 comes out as a bedside/house gun. At the range I feel I shoot it a little better than my edc due to the larger size and lower recoil. For the money it’s a great gun.
Safety first! So I really appreciate the manual safety especially since I’m teaching my lady and learning myself about firearms safety and practice - however, I agree with not having the safety on when using for EDC - just gotta get a holster.
Good option for budget people like myself. It have 90% of the Glock 19 features for sometimes less of half of the price of a Glock . The only negative for me its the slide finish I like stainless version better.
If it's the same as G2 and G2C it rusts fast when you get sweat on it. I haven't found a holster I like for my G3 yet so I don't know how fast ti will rust.
I just got a g3 and I love the thing. A few things I love about but most importantly cheap and still really good in my opinion. Something people who think more money = better is that if you’re ever in a situation and you use it and take down someone, the cops will take it as evidence and who knows when you’ll see it again. I’d rather have a gun that $300 taken away than one that’s $600+ and same quality
It is actually a great gun. In at around 700-750 rounds and the only problem was with a box of unlucky brass ammo. Thought it was the gun, but then tried that same ammo on my p365 and it kept preventing the slide to fully go back to the front just like in my G3. Great buy for the money! Easy to clean, magazines are cheaper than most. Highly recommend.
@@damiion666 What don't you like about it? The only complaint I heard about was the long trigger pull on the other versions. But now this is a striker fire. I figured it should be a better...
Unreliability being the most important. Even if you get one that is reliable, they are not made for long term service life. For the price point, you can pick up a first generation S&W Shield for pretty much the same price these days. There are also rebates available for the first and second generation Shields. It is pretty much considered a hall of famer in track record and quality with a lifetime warranty even if you're not the original owner and buy it used.
Customers love it especially women because the slide is especially if you can move for them with great grip surface and a very easy slide to rack women especially this Gun is great for.
I'm still rocking my Millenium Pro and this looks very much like a larger version, so I'm already familiar with it's function. I must hold one in my sweaty palms!
Maybe the holster is a part of the problem with the slide finish. We also need a very light coating of oil lube or similar lube inside the holster. Thank you for the review. Mechanically, I think this pistol is an excellent and reliable budget pistol.
My block 19 finish looks crappy when I rub it with my fingers also. I think it is finger / hand salts, not the finish. I do enjoy my G3. It's ergonomics are better than the Block's. Thanks for the review.
@50 GLOCK the only thing slimmer about the g2s is the grip not enough difference to justify half the round count than the g2c only makes sense if you live in a state with 10 round limits.
My new Taurus G3 arrived 2 weeks ago missing one of the safety features on the slide. After a week Taurus has not responded to my warranty request. A phone call at 4PM EST says they close at 5PM EST and the hung up. I'm starting to regret my purchase.
I don't know, the g2c is a genuine value gun, and certainly the G3 is less expensive than a Glock, but it's directly competing with the Smith and Wesson sd9ve at around $300 Being a g2c owner, I 100% agree that the Taurus' stippling is fantastic, and the stippling on the sd9ve is not However we are talkin Smith and Wesson vs. Taurus Now if street price comes down to around 250 or so, then it would be undercutting the Smith & Wesson by enough to matter
My first gun was a g2c i loved it but sold it a month ago , in the coming weeks i plan on getting the g3 for home gun , and i been eyeing the ruger lc9s for a edc gun. Shoot be a nice duo
I have both the G2c and the ruger lc9s. Both are excellent, accurate and dependable. Nice thing about the lc9s is you can pocket carry easily compared to the g2c. But both are Excellent
In your introduction to the weapon did you ever mention what the caliber is. Not mean to be picky but that’s one of the first things we do in military weapon classes after we named the weapon then the caliber and capacity and his action. Single action, double action or select fire. I enjoyed your video but you left out part of the nomenclature.
That "small" difference in grip width feels like a lot, the Glock 19 width feels far less comfortable in the hand than the G3 although I am sure some of that is blockish un-ergonomic grip design on the Glock and I have shot thousands of rounds through a Glock as a former LEO. Safety is just an issue of muscle memory/practice.

Taurus is like a brand new old company. They have done a 360 turn around cause they use to suck! I own a Taurus 92 and a pt111 g2. I love them both. Best budget gin company hands down.
Better trigger than a Glock. Better grip. Sights are comparable. Is it a budget gun or are Glock fanboys just being over charged.
Exactly!! Im right there with you sir.

I’ll give you $280 lol if your in az? 😎
Smh
@@gastondraco5906
Why buy a 17 when you can buy a Mec Gar Sig P226 18 or 20 rd for the same price? They fit and function 100%
Kyle Sonsalla your life on the line not mine I’ll stick with factory mags
@@gastondraco5906
Mec Gar are factory mags...
Kyle Sonsalla go ahead and take your chance for 1 or 2 extra rounds you may need them .....I won’t
How'd they do?
Haven’t got a g3 yet because they’re always out of stock, but I really dig the G2c I bought the wife. Feels much better in my hand than my G26 I’ve been carrying for years
They are available every day on Gunbroker.
I have the G3 and G3c and love them both...
Before I got an M&P I had the original millennium g2. Was a great gun, and now that I've sold my M&P for a 1911, I kind of want the G3.
The Glock is very good, but the G3 arrived for a great price and a great performance.
Got one, got a Lakeline LLC stainless 4.6" threaded barrel, a Tyrant Designs Univ. Comp, 18 and 20 round Sig p226 mag, and love it.
I didn't notice Mrs Hegsot miss at all! Don't ever get her mad at you. She's a pretty good shot! Lol
Thank God someone who agrees with me a budget Glock 45
Thank you for your honest opinion and not being a gun snob. I will subscribe because of it thanks again and God bless
I love my G3 does anyone love there’s
Lil rocfamily it’s great if you’ve never shot a quality firearm. They have their place but the trigger still sucks just like the g2
I really liked mine. I cleaned it really good and lubed up and the trigger on mine is buttery smooth.
Steve Stumbaugh I ended up selling mine last week. I just didn’t shoot it much. It’s a decent gun for the price.
My gen 3 Glock 26 yes
If by G3 you mean Glock 19 yes...I love mine
READ your manual!...………………………….elsullo
elsullo2 the Walther PPQ's striker is also fully cocked when loaded but no thumb safety
@@caseyfryback8271 I'm not carrying single action gun in condition 0 with no safety..
I’ve had great performance from each of my Taurus guns.... PT-140.....24/7 45ACP... and my go to ... PT111-G2
Same here: PT145, PT111 and the TCP, I've used all 3 as my personal carry and zero issues.
I'm impressed with Taurus, I bought a g2c a month ago and already have 2000 rounds through it , the mag is a bit hard for me to load by hand, so I use a "loader" but I haven't had a single problem with the little pistol, not bad for $206.00
Where can u get a loader from and I have the same problem with loading as well
However it's a good gun
@@atlantaatlanta7440 .... I don't really know, it's a small metal piece that holds the cartridge down while you put the next one in, I bought it a a gun show in the 1980's, fits most 9 mm
@@atlantaatlanta7440 Bloody Wheels on EBay makes some great loaders for the G2C. As well as spacers to use the G3 15 and 17 round mags in the G2C 😁👍
Awesome review! The slide finish is weird. When I first bought mine, it had scratches on the slide they claimed were made by bringing the gun in and out of the sales case against other pistols. I oiled it a little when I cleaned it and the scratches are gone. Weird
Really love this gun. It’s my EDC. Will say it doesn’t like steel black case rounds. Always jams up on the steel casing. Runs brass really well.
I purchased g3 and g2. Smooth like butter. Everything I was looking for in a handgun
the finish will wear off fast but it gives it a battle worn look. sights change them cause glock sights suck also. I will get 2 for the price of my g19 and give them hell
i often wonder if these reviewers get upset when their hammers and other tools get nicks and scratches? My tools get worn, and a firearm is just that, a tool.
I just bought one this afternoon. It's the FDE frame with OD slide, Georgia model.
I bought the G3TORO and it’s been an amazing weapon. Feels and shoots great.
I have the G3 i got to say that i love it
I always liked Taurus.
I would like to call out Taurus for eliminating the tactile loaded chamber indicator! It's really important when needed!
Here in Brazil Taurus Guns comes inside a case (like glock, sig). Its funny to see they selling in USA in this paper box. Another thing, Brazilian G3 has better aim sights like Glock and ready to set Red Dot, like Glock MOS.
I've heard that Taurus guns cost a lot more in Brazil than in the US, so giving you a plastic box to keep it in is the least they can do.
@Luthiart in direct conversion G3 cost 850$ (5000R$) more expensive than Glock wich is 1400$ (8000R$)
The Taurus Gen. 3 is more than a cheap gun It's the best gun I Use and I have lots it's light And accurate I prefer it more than the Beretta 92 I recommend it
Using the scale to show how hard/easy to rack the pistol is pretty clever..Nice
Mrs. Hegshot nailed it !!! Great shooting
What a great budget pistol, just awesome!! 👍🏼
I don't own a glock anymore. Taurus has upped their game.
I have been shooting taurus pistols since the 70s (my dads revolvers) and have never had any problems with them
Kenny J Taurus got me into pistol shooting to begin with.
Sir, you performed a really fine job with that G3. I have one and enjoyed your test. Fred Douglas
A better option than a hi point
We've already had a budget Glock 19 for a long time. It's called the S&W SD9.
I own a G3 and love it
Good option for budget people like myself. It have 90% of the Glock 19 features for sometimes less of half of the price of a Glock . The only negative for me its the slide finish I like stainless version better.
The stainless slide is available in the G3 as well!!!
I dont think that's tenifer. Seems like a thin phosphate.
I have a pt111g2 and I love it. I want to pick up a g3 next
Love my thumb safety and my "sticky" holster
I got sold a “sticky” holster for my lcrx recently and I’m surprised how much I like that holster.
G3 is a double single-acting pistol. There is no way to compare
My first gun ordered today looking forward to receiving it
I love my G2C. I'm going to pass on the G3. But I am curious about the SCCY DVG-1.... What's your opinion on SCCY pistols?
They're hot garbage
@@ashyjeremy
What makes them garbage? I haven't seen any bad reviews on this yet.
Yes they are garbage
@@damiion666
What don't you like about it? The only complaint I heard about was the long trigger pull on the other versions. But now this is a striker fire. I figured it should be a better...
Unreliability being the most important. Even if you get one that is reliable, they are not made for long term service life. For the price point, you can pick up a first generation S&W Shield for pretty much the same price these days. There are also rebates available for the first and second generation Shields. It is pretty much considered a hall of famer in track record and quality with a lifetime warranty even if you're not the original owner and buy it used.
PRICE DIFFERENCE:
TAURUS G3 = $345
GLOCK19 Gen5 = $560
My 1st G3 was $276 & my 2nd was $313.😁👍
Just recently purchased a g2c, hp22, and Panzer arms mfpa for the price of that little glock.
Customers love it especially women because the slide is especially if you can move for them with great grip surface and a very easy slide to rack women especially this Gun is great for.
Kevin Segna sold out of them today at the store I work at
I'm still rocking my Millenium Pro and this looks very much like a larger version, so I'm already familiar with it's function. I must hold one in my sweaty palms!
For the price you can't beat it.
How much is it
@@mikethurman8304 Like $230.00
Discoloration is good imo. The gun gets a vintage look soon 😍 thx for the video
Have 3 Taurus G2c's and the finish IS very thin and easily scratched and worn off by a Kydex holster. Otherwise...GREAT value.
Should've went stainless they hold up very well.
I 2nd this. I see mine showing wear from that kydex holster
@50 GLOCK the only thing slimmer about the g2s is the grip not enough difference to justify half the round count than the g2c only makes sense if you live in a state with 10 round limits.
@50 GLOCK it's funny people go buy the smallest firearm they can find and complain about the capacity just buy a full size and be done with it.
It's probably dyocoat anodized and not done through electrolysis submersion.
My new Taurus G3 arrived 2 weeks ago missing one of the safety features on the slide. After a week Taurus has not responded to my warranty request. A phone call at 4PM EST says they close at 5PM EST and the hung up. I'm starting to regret my purchase.
I got it in slim version in 40 Cal. Great price, great accuracy, fits great in hand; alot of recoil though
Sheetmetal St.louis Kris how snappy is it with .40 cal?
Got the pt 111, g2c and two days ago bought the g3 not one problem with either gun. But i do have one problem which one to carry for that day
And lifetime warranty no brainer by the Taurus
@Patrick O'Brien not true. The failure rate is less than 1 percent. Get out of here, you troll!!!
Inconvenient Truths the older models yes but the G2C and G3 have been Taurus’ redemption
I don't know, the g2c is a genuine value gun, and certainly the G3 is less expensive than a Glock, but it's directly competing with the Smith and Wesson sd9ve at around $300
Being a g2c owner, I 100% agree that the Taurus' stippling is fantastic, and the stippling on the sd9ve is not
However we are talkin Smith and Wesson vs. Taurus
Now if street price comes down to around 250 or so, then it would be undercutting the Smith & Wesson by enough to matter
My first gun was a g2c i loved it but sold it a month ago , in the coming weeks i plan on getting the g3 for home gun , and i been eyeing the ruger lc9s for a edc gun. Shoot be a nice duo
I too have the G2C w/Truglow night sights. Also the LC9S w/Laser and Truglow Night Sights. Switch between the two for EDC.
I have both the G2c and the ruger lc9s. Both are excellent, accurate and dependable. Nice thing about the lc9s is you can pocket carry easily compared to the g2c. But both are Excellent
That's your skin rubbing off on the "etched" slide. It will clean up nicely...
Bought a G2S and a G3. Haven't fired either one yet. What you be a good break in period? Thx for the awesome videos!!!
I just picked up the Taurus G3C for about 300 and had enough left over and purchased a Mossberg Maverick
Best video on this gun
Had a G2 ,pistol looked good ,but just didn't like the way it shot . Am going to try the G3 NEXT MONTH .
