However, I had a Z back in 2010 (and it was fairly outdated then) and went down the rabbit hole for the few years I had it. I modified it to address some of the gripes he mentioned. However, there are some big misses here, that are just because he didn’t do enough research before creating this video. My main issues are as follows: - The “effects” setting involves the animation and “gauge swing” when starting the car. - The tire reminder is worthwhile, because I typically got 3-5K miles out of a rear set, before they started slipping in even mild rain and required replacement - The “key slot” is not to store your key. The keyless entry is optional (or was at one time) so the slot is where you inserted the key to start it. Even if you had the option (I did, mine was a loaded sport touring), it was still valuable because the slot charged the key batteries - the visor extender was still useful when facing forward as it can slide behind the rear view mirror. - The blank switches on the center console are for the heated seats (ventilated as well on the convertible) and yes, convertible top. The Recaro seats in the NISMO aren’t available with heating, ergo they are blanked out. Most Zs do have the heated seats. - The red light in the center of the diffuser is a rear fog light in international markets. I agree it looks much better installed and is available as a brake light aftermarket. - There is a spare tire in the Z. The subwoofer is actually clever packaging and sits in the upside down spare. If Doug had dug a little deeper, removing the black styrofoam around the sub, he would’ve realized the sub was just sitting in the wheel and there is indeed a spare, hence the very shallow load floor. No, I was gonna point that out. It started innocently enough but when he gave it back to the Studio, you could tell that's a man doing what he's born to do!!!
“Outdated” isn’t necessarily a bad thing. For example hydraulic steering, naturally aspirated power, manual transmission option. Honestly the styling still looks great. I understand it’s not exactly worth it paying 40-50k for a car that’s 10 years old. But I think the car still looks relative and besides being slightly low on power, I think it’s still a very enticing package. I used to live next to a tuning shop that specialized in these v6 engines (350/370z, Infiniti’s) and with a simple turbo kit, they were pushing close to 500 to the wheels. Some were in the 600’s. Basically a Nissan GT-R but rear wheel drive and stick shift.
Is 350 horsepower really "low on power"? I'd say that's pretty much exactly what a car like this should have. Once you start getting into 400 horsepower range, you're really pushing the market you're in.
@Gibbon don't worry, my dad always seems to start off in high gear. He once started off in fourth. Thankfully, my dad's car has this magical way of not caring.
I like having my clock a few minutes ahead. So that when I pull in at work, the clock is showing approximately what time I'll be inside. Helpful for letting me know I'm late 😄
The first day in the military, our Lt literally ordered us to advance 5 minutes our watches. On time is too late. (he also said you may only take it back to the "right" time once we achieved captain rank and higher) Fun fact my mother always had every watches and clocks at home 3 minutes forward since I can remember for the exact same reason.
The secret of the "Effects" option solved. Quick Google revealed the following from the 370Z owners manual. EFFECTS Select this menu to set the dial effects described below to on or off. - The indicator needles sweep in the meters when the engine is started.
I had an 09' and cant believe they haven't done a damn thing besides exterior changes on them. Was one of my favorite cars I've owned but deffenitly very very outdated.
Guy who owns car: Aw sweet Doug Demuro did a video with my car! Doug: this car is severely outdated and blows chunks. It does have a cool lock near the trunk release though. Guy: **Hangs himself on his ceiling fan**
That key slot isn't for storage, you put the key in there in case the key fob battery dies. It senses the key and turns on the car. Also this is not a fully loaded version of the car. It comes with a touch screen if you get that option. But like usual Doug does minimal research and then makes up stuff about how things work.

@@msmithy207 Every single person on planet earth: Then Eff-Yu Nissan! Oh, what's that? All new Toyota Supra? Meh, I better hang on my wall Kia Stinger...
Yeah, but so much of the complaints he raises on the Z are things that don't matter to me one bit. It's tough for me to understand why someone wants infotainment screens and gizmos and gadgets in a dedicated sports car. The whole point of a car like that is the driving experience and to feel the road, hear the exhaust and hit the back roads at an affordable price tag. I'm not arguing it's overpriced compared to what else is on the marketplace, but it's also been in a unique position for many years. There haven't been many Japanese sports cars on sale since 2009 that offer the same driving experience and cache as the Z, like it or not.
Jay Stephenson For 30k yeah, it’s not bad, but 46k is coming very close to C7 corvette or Mk 5 Supra territory, and those cars blow the Z out of the water in almost every aspect
@@christopherrossberg1012 if you have the roadster it's the convertible switch I believe. I used to own a 370z with heated seats. Always assumed that's what it was.
Old and outdated are getting more and more valuable than new and trendy. If you make a car that's look old or outdated, 3 pedals, a shifrer, RWD and fun in this day and age, people will do anything (may including doing Fast anf Furious truck heist with Civics) to get their hands on that car.
Go for it. I did and I'm still absolutely thrilled everytime I get into it. It's an old school RWD car with plenty of hrsprs and a 6spd manual. also, I think it has a timeless design. The side lines, the huge a55 rear fenders....looks just so good.

There is a spare tire there. You need to remove the subwoofer by unscrewing the center. If you look there is a jack and tool set here. Remove the foam covers and you have your spare.
I want a new Fairlady Z and Skyline to come out, the current ones are outdated by now, I cannot wait for the 390z and the R36 GTR, cannot wait because it has been too long now that we wait for them, also I want them to bring back Silvia and the SX cars, maybe someday I guess
Im assuming the motor will either be a 3.8 liter like the r35 (detuned ofc) and become a 380z or it will remain the 3.7 liter like the 370z already is and remain the 370z. Heres hoping they decide to turbocharge it though so the car can actually compete in the market
@@cameronspann7949 you were un impressed with everything expect the preformance which is what this car was made for, so you go back to the older and slower version of that car? Yeah seems logical.
The cars look great. The white nismo do look really nice and certainly don't look old on the outside. The V6 sounds amazing, best I have heard but needs aftermarket exhaust to hear it (like most cars). The cars feel great to drive, much more fun than most. The problem with this car is that it's very slow! Painfully slow. It's so slow that if u put it against a vw GTi, it will be beat on straights. New GTi are 210bhp or something, 370z nismo are 280bhp but weight a lot more. There's just no acceleration with the Z.

Doug is the type of guy to say he is obsessed with video game famous cars like the Ferrari f40 and Mclaren F1 and Saleen S7 and the old Chevy Corvette and Lamborghini Countach and old Porsche 911s then says he does not like the Nissan Nismo. What a guy that Doug. What a Doug. This is of course the newer Nismo and not the older classic models. Edit: he is right though it is very costly compared to a Mustang or Camaro that probably can drive better for less money. This also does not have that visceral look of the classic Nismo and who knows how hard to access and replace parts on these newer models are so probably wouldn't be as suited to turn into a drift car like the Nissan NSX. Kind of a market compromise for those who like the old Nismo and people who want a next gen car. Doesn't really live up to either expectation as it tried too hard to cross in between and too expensive. At least if Doug's reactions were all justified and it feels how it looks and how he describes it in the video.
It’s funny how everyone is bashing this car then 10 years down the line everyone is going to be like I miss the 370z so much it was such a nice car. Same way people are scrambling for 240sx cars now. Outdated but everyone wants one now.
Clent Labauve yes there is a spare. I own a Nismo. The spare does fit. The subwoofer fits inside of the spare, it's a neat design actually. The "star" bolt you see holding the subwoofer in holds the spare in also. Rewind, all around the subwoofer is the inside lip of the spare wheel. You literally can't miss it. I don't know how he did.
a minor nitpick, but those 3 gauges on the dash you called out have been a design motif of basically every z, with these being a specific callback to the original 240
The vvel tech is actually still pretty cool tech. It’s a fantastic engine. The car is def over priced, and you didn’t note the nismo exhaust is different. Also, the 7at with the rev matching downshifting.
